That’s just outrageous and the staff was not helpful at all"

Pros: "Booked these flights though Kayak. Landing from LAX at 0730 at Auckland international terminal and then departing at 0900 from the domestic terminal. This is not enough time, doesn’t allow for customs and immigration. It was a really stressful experience running between terminals with my luggage, as there was less than a 1 hour window after getting through customs and immigration, so the bag drop at international wouldn’t accept them. Got to departure gate 12 minutes before plane departure. You need more time to have a good experience !"

We were at the airport at least 2 1/2 hours before boarding time. The mistake could have been rectified, we were told it would need an email from Virgin to confirm and change the booking. We photographed and sent through passport details. We phoned the booing site, we phoned Virgin, we were put on hold for 25 mins while the booking site phoned Virgin - but Virgin refused to help us out! My husband was not able to board the flight - no refund, no help - and the sad part was, it wasn't for a holiday - it was to visit and help his 87yr old father-in-law who had fallen and cracked his spine. No sympathy from Virgin, VERY DISAPPOINTED!"

If the flight had landed on time then there would not have been a problem."

However the worst part is that Mt luggage didn't make it to Heathrow with my flight and the service in trying to get my bags back has been shocking. Considering I was told my bags would be arriving in London 2 hours later I still do not have my bage in my possession- a day and a half later. And trying to get to talk to someone to help. This has been so frustrating and disappointing."

Cons: "We were shocked to be charged $275 for two checked bags. At the point that you are checking in you are trapped and don't have a choice but to pay it. We were told that if we had paid in advance it would be cheaper, but we didn't know what the weight of our bags would be so I just figured I'd pay at the airport. They didn't say that they charge so much more at the airport - which is a total rip off. We were also harassed by not having the email that showed we purchased an Australian Visa which is digitally tied to our passport. If they need to verify our Visa, then they should have the electronic means to verify it. Also, we were traveling from Sydney to Auckland so since we were leaving the country I'm not sure why they had to see our Australian Visa in the first place. We were already in the country!"

You think this may be the reason for the fairly low fare but they stick it to you with baggage fees. The maximum is 15kgs [ most airlines allow 23kgs ] In addition you have to pay for all items on board. There is no such thing as free coffee or soft drinks. I would recommend this airline if you have little or no baggage and are going on a day trip to Wellington or Auckland. Otherwise, stick with Air New Zealand."

Words really cannot describe our feelings towards our treatment and lack of any empathy from the airline, who took a booking and then cancelled it in record and and said there is no other flights! Cons: "RIDICULOUS baggage fees. Because I booked through Kayak I never received a confirmation from the airline. When we went to check In at the airport I was informed I would have to pay $160 PER BAG and $35 PER KILO over 15kg. The agent informed me that I needed to pay baggage fees based on weight at the time I booked. How in the hell am I supposed to know 2 months in advance how much my luggage weighs? The baggage fees were 4 times the price of the ticket! And then they weigh your carry on to try to collect even more fees if the total weight of your carry on exceeds 7kg. No food or water on board and VERY rude head flight attendant. NEVER AGAIN and I will think twice about booking through Kayak given I was never informed of these fees in advance."

After reading the comments of others in the same situation, I realize that I'm not alone. I wish I had checked out these reviews of Jetstar BEFORE I booked. You would be doing your clients a big favor to include mention of this strange practice of not including luggage fees by Jetstar..and warn them that these fees could bring the total cost of their airfare to over $500 for a 100 minute domestic flight for 2 travelers. My husband said next time we're going through a travel agent. Sorry"

Had to throw out clothes and shoes to meet weight requirements as they charge $25 a kilogram for extra weight which was not disclosed when we received our confirmation. We were the only ones hassled over being a few kilos over each. Many people hand large luggage carry ons which wouldn't even fit in the luggage testers yet no one said anything to them. 90 percent of the people were easily over the 7KG weight allowance for carry on luggage and were not hassled at all. It was pure discrimination and perhaps it was because I was italian or my wife had blond hair. Who knows. I have been on hundreds of flights in my life and have never been so humiliated in my life. The blonde luggage counter and boarding ticket taker, was insulting and even insisted on seeing our australian visitors permit which is not required according to Australian customs once you have paid for it and are registered. She even tried to force my wife to check her bag even though it fit in their luggage sizing testers. Another tall lady with glasses at the luggage check in area, was also very insulting and discriminated against us. Horrible experience. Both of those people would be fired if I was running the airline. Its a service business and while I understand rules, you have to have some discretion and if your going to enforce them, they must apply to all passengers, not just 2 people out of 150!"

Pros: "The fare was cheap and my body physically was moved from the origin to the destination..."
Cons: "The website and customer service are annoyingly difficult to use, potentially designed to force you to pay more for extras like bags. For instance, if you pay for your bag ahead of time, it is meant to be cheaper. I tried to pay for my bag ahead of time and it took me to a check-in page. I tried multiple times but only ever got to the same check-in page. Figuring that perhaps I needed to check in first, I did this step only to find that if you pay for your bag after check in, it costs more money!! On the return trip, I felt wiser so I refused to fill in the check-in page before paying for baggage. I exhausted every possible link on their website and ultimately had to call customer service. This took an annoyingly long time. I was told when I tried to pay for a 15kg bag that they had run out of space on the plane and I couldn't pay for this; however, I COULD pay for a 20kg bag at a higher price. WHAT? As I was told this was my only option, I took it, but the logic defies reason and makes me conclude that their systems are simply designed to force you to pay for extras. If I had it to do over, I would just book Air New Zealand for an extra $50-- it would save me plenty of time and hassle."

Pros: "We selected this flight with no knowledge of this airline, as we were coming from the states. Being international traveling for three weeks obviously we had some luggage with us. This domestic flight does not allow any free check in, and you are only allowed 7 kg as a carry-on. You also have to pre-pay for your check in baggage before you get to the airport otherwise you are charged three times the price. If you don't know all of this before you go, you will be in big trouble. I do not recommend this airline for international travelers."

Pros: "I wasn't happy about the boarding part of it. On our tickets we were boarding through gat 18B and was changed to gate three but there was a serious communication breakdown so much that we had to rush to gate 3 the last minute thing after we looked or made enquiries for ourselves"

Pros: "Cheerful, pleasant and helpful ground crew and flight attendant"

Pros: "The airlines stewardess was very helpful and friendly; However I would not recommend that anyone choose to use Jetstar unless they only have an under 7 kg Carry on bag."
Cons: "There was literally no where to check in our bags online. We even asked our hotel concierge to look into how we could claim our bags and they could not find anything either . Thankfully we went to the airport early, were told to look at our confirmation online from the check in folks and found absolutely nothing regarding baggage there . and ended up paying for our bags at a reasonable rate because it was prior to check in ; however , other travelers were not so fortunate and ended up paying $70 per check through bag because it was literally impossible to find any place to check them in and people were stuck in a difficult situation without a choice . additionally we were told that we were only allowed 7 kg poor person carry on Travelers beware of this - to our knowledge it happened to international travelers, May have been New Zealander as well but are not sure about that . additionally we were told that we were only allowed 7 kg per person for our carry-on total carry on. This also is nowhere to be found on the Jetstar website !!!! for every killer that you are over you are charged an additional $15! We did arrive safely and the flight was fine ."

Cons: "The Jetstar checkin staff. They are not very friendly. I was a few kilos overweight and I had nothing but grief from them - as well as my purse put on the scales - which added to the weight. I have never had my purse put on the scales before. I ended up having to pay $160.00 Australian for a few kilos. My fare did not even cost that much. As far as I am concerned Jetstar need a watchdog to take this up on travellers behalf. How can a few filos cost that much - when you can book your luggage through for $25.00."

Cons: "Ground staff attitude, very inconsiderate, we thought that being an international flight , we were entitled to checked baggage so did not include that when we did booking. Found out at the airport that we did not have any checked baggage allowance. Although we explained that this was an error as we were under the impression that checked baggage was always included for international flights they were very in considerate and made us pay $ 320.00. Will inform everyone to avoid Jet Star airlines when they travel."

Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "Crew , baggage price , food"

Pros: "Initially I liked the price and time of the flight, but the amount you have to pay for luggage negated the first thing, so all I was left with was convenient timing. The plane crew was nice, though as there was no beverage or food service unless you paid for it (they will give you tap water for free), there wasn't much for them to do."
Cons: "They weigh your carry-on bag and have a ridiculous 7kg (combined personal and carry-on) limit. Then they blast you with a $25 per kg overage, so if you have the misfortune of being 5kg over (as I was) you get the pleasure of a $125 fee (which I just saw my card was charged $250 - I need to contest that). The seats are so thin you feel the tray of the seat behind you pressing into your back the whole flight, and they recline maybe a whole 2 inches. There is no entertainment, no beverage or snack service and the plane sounds and feels like a cheap car with terribly loud noise and no shocks. As I said in the title, I'd recommend quantas or new Zealand air and spend slightly more (or maybe less after the baggage overage fees) for a better all around experience."

Cons: "The price of the flight advertised clearly stated that there were no baggage fees, it was written as £0 after the words 'baggage fees', so I was clearly surprised to be asked to pay $70 upon arrival at the airport from my baggage. Would someone like to explain this? I will be taking this up with the senior partners at your company as I feel this is complete miss advertising. The fact that you can state zero fees and then expect customers to pay extra is RIDICULOUS!!! I WILL NEVER BE USING THIS COMPANY AGAIN, EVEN IF THE PRICE IS CONSIDERABLY LESS THAN A COMPETITOR."

Cons: "The ridiculously excessive charge to check a bag at the check-in counter!!!! Outrageous behaviour by airlines to have a policy of ripping people off! Never again Jetstar!!!!"

Cons: "So I showed up to find out that my ticket didn't include luggage, ok, no big deal I will pay for the bag, what 75$, no problem. oh wait a minute they wanted 300$ for the bag. the flight was less than 250$, I ended up walking over to Air NZ and got a flight with them. I will never, ever, ever, ever book with these jokers again. This should be illegal, showing up at the airport and then being told the baggage charge is over 100% of the price of the ticket. I could have bought another ticket just for my bag and put it in the seat beside me for less. How does an airline justify this???"

Pros: "Return flight was not full, extra space to stretch"
Cons: "Had to carry carry-on suit case up and down stairs when boarded the plane. Based on the seat, half of the passengers boarded through regular ramped hall way, half boarded through back door that went downstairs to get out of the building, then up the stairs to the airplane. In Auckland airport international terminal, all passengers had to weight their carry-on and personal bags, and if it's more than seven kg, you have to check it in. This was the first time I experienced that. I bought gifts in the airport and planned to buy more. Our carry ons were a few kg over the limit, and we were sent back to the check in counter, where we just got our boarding passes and no warnings were given. We were lucky we had plenty of time during this transfer to go through all the back and forth hassles. Paying the extra $$ for the surprise check ins was not pleasant. There was another scale at the gate counter, which totally cancelled my shopping plan. To be fair, weight limit was not enforced when we boarded the plane, but you never know when that scale will be used. During the flight, I asked a flight attendant for water, and she told me to get it myself pointing the curtain half a plane away. Another new experience. This was the first time we took Jetstar, and on the way to New Zealand, we didn't feel it was too much different from the other airlines we flew before except you have to pay for everything from a cup of tea to meals and entertainment, and of course we didn't go through Auckland. The return trip really made us realize you get what you pay for."
