This racket is the ultimate way to rip somebody off of $1000. Horrible."

Cons: "The seat's recline button was broken which meant having to sit for 12+ hours upright. Upon hearing that the seat was broken, the airline crew offered my mother a check for 100 SGD (14% of the ticket value) to be used on Singapore airlines (for the discomfort caused for over 50% of the flight time). They changed her seat from Seoul to Singapore. When I wrote to them about it, they came back saying they had offered her a seat change from LA to Singapore, and she had declined, which is absolutely false. When I called that out, they said, maybe they did not offer aisle seats (note that the broken seat was not aisle). So it just shows that they don't want to accept that they messed up. They even told me that despite their best efforts in pre-flight checks, certain defects only surface when the flight is in progress. Will never ever travel on this airline again."

Pros: "Amazing, amazing service! Great food (including Hagen Daaz ice cream) and good choice of beverages. Lots of different entertainment choices. VERY clean and well maintained aircraft. Staff is always friendly and happy...they really seem to absolutely love their job! Free toiletries in the bathrooms are an extra plus. Whenever there was a change in schedule / plans the captain informed the passengers immediately about what was going on and what would happen next."
Cons: "The only thing that did and probably always will be AWFUL is going thru security at JFK. The T S A officials there are unfriendly, sometimes rude, never smiling and often yelling at you or even little kids or elderly people. We are travelling a lot and no other security staff at any given airport is so unfriendly and harsh. Worst thing about going on a journey."

Pros: "The presence and attitude of the flight attendants were highly pleasant and accommodating. The entire flight was very comfortable and made the 9 hour journey from Manchester to Houston Texas fast and enjoyable. The flight attendants always had a wonderful smile which felt genuine many a time and always made an effort to speak at the level of the passenger. When I had trouble connecting to the Wifi, one attendant even knelt down and connected my phone manually as I was not tech savvy in this regard. The food was of much higher quality as well compared to other airlines I traveled with on this trip."

Cons: "Four travelers were seated in 4 different areas on flight from Hong Kong to San Francisco flight. Three of us of us were senior citizens. Two had disabilities and were.not accommodated in any way by Cathay Pacific (CP) while loading in the four areas of the plane. Those of us that we're physically able could not help those with mobility issues because of the proximity of the seating, I could not pre-check or request different seats on the CP website. I think that this was because of issues with the website, apparently due to IT system communication between American Airlines and Cathay Pacific.......on all six flights. On the transfer in San Francisco, Customs was closed when we arrived in San Francisco and we had to haul all of our baggage from one terminal to the other. There was no direction on how to handle this issue of Customs being closed while on the flight to San Francisco. I had to explain the issue of to the CP customer service crew in SF. The CP desk and they had never heard of it. American Airlines was equally poorly trained. I will also say that while at the CP customer service, there were three young adult males that we're not busy at the time and the watched us unload the baggage carts onto the scales and conveyor and then reloaded on to the carts to push to the AA terminal. We handled the bags two additional times because the CP staff did not know what to do and how to handle it. Other passengers were confused as well. I traveled internationally to Asia three times now on CP and the first two were excellent. In the past had had flown other carriers on out trips to asia. This experience on this flight was beyond bad. I had plan on several more trips to Asia the next three years, and I will say that at this point, I will not fly CP again. Something needs to change. A call to me is in order. I witnessed several gaps in CP systems and other issues with training the staff. Your survey did not specify the flight crew. Except for the loading issues and the lack of information about Customs being.closed at SF, the service was world class...what I had come to expect from CP"

We arrived hongkong and was informed that our flight has been rebooked even though we can see that the plane was still there and staffs are still at the gate. We were transferred to a layover flight from HongKong to Aussie then Aussie to Auckland instead of going straight. Seats was set far apart with no competitions at all. Sorry is not enough for this big hassle."

My personal TV's touch screen wasn't working so I complaint to stewardess, who asked her manager, Ms Jacky to come, she resent the system which worked and then stopped again. I again complaint but by the time Ms Jacky came the system started working again so she said "I did not know how to use touch feature. I was touching it too hard."

They made announcement updates every 10 minutes meaning that people had to be constantly alert to see if anything changed in the next 10 minutes. When the flight was cancelled, the employees could not offer any information about how to get ticket prices refunded, or how to get to the destination. They could not even connect passengers to the managers because the managers are in Hong Kong. The number they gave out to passengers for customer services could not be reached because this it is an international number. People had to miss connecting flights, meetings, important appointments, and are still trying to figure out how to get refunded for an expensive flight. Terrible experience and customer service."

Pier Business class lounge breathtaking, with several large rooms with different food options, served to you - the fresh made noodles a must - and a staffed, well stocked bar. Absolutely gorgeous space."

My flight from Sydney to LA the headphones and the jack didn’t work. I informed the crew member it was an over 15 hour flight with no sound in entertainment. I asked if they had kosher or halal options in one of the flights to Brisbane, the crew member wasn’t pleasant in the reply. I took the vegetarian option that’s fine but surely the crew member can say no in a more pleasant way. Although I had a great time in Australia. Thank you

There is no service involved plonking down a tray. Water could be included."

Plenty of leg room on the flight and the cabin staff were fantastic, only thing that let it down was the food choice, but, as it was only a 3 hour flight this wasn;t really a problem. Would gladly fly with them again any time."

No explanations, just surly, inattentive agents performing further checks on items that had already been twice-checked at security. Awful service."
Pros: "This was AA flying for Quantas and it was all very nice; the taste of the food left something to be desired, but it was all decent portions and we were fed three times. The staff was terribly accommodating and friendly. The entertainment was top notch! The flight was smooth and was as comfortable as a 12 hour flight can be. After the hellish experience I had at both O'hare and LAX, it was a lovely way to end/begin the trip."

this is a great airline to fly on. I have not ever had a bad experiance with China Air.

Cons: "The seating was a bit cramped. Because I have long legs there wasn't a lot of room between rows. I have been on other flights with China Airlines where the seating was comfortable and roomy but this flight wasn't. The entertainment screen was not very user friendly. The screen was small and not very clear to watch."
Pros: "Service on the ground and in the air was efficient, if somewhat cool and uninterested. (The exception was at checkin counter where the service was great.) options for entertainment were great. Food was decent, legroom was decent, plane was older but still decent...."
Cons: "The entire plane's group of passengers seemed to be lined up at the boarding gate - no explanation why, but they were checking ID's. Then the line just moved into the plane. I prefer boarding by rows, especially when traveling with my young son. Air crew seemed pretty uninterested in anything beyond the basic requirements of the job."

Pros: "Had a nice flight back from Taipei to JFK on China Airlines in premium economy. Compared to economy, I was quite happy with the comfortable far-reclining seats and more than enough leg room. My one complaint is food. I'm a vegetarian and the veg options were awful...simply not acceptable. And giving passengers the full can of soda/beverage would be nice. Most adults drink more than a shot glass worth of soda or juice. Or at least fill the cup a bit more."

Cons: "The level of uncomfortableness rivaled that of Spiritair. From friction burns on the knees from the seat directly in front of you, to virtually hosting your front neighbor's head in your lap when they recline. And I'm all of 5'8"! Even though easily +90% of the passengers were Americans, Australians, New Zealanders and Europeans, and that the flight was between 2 English speaking countries, we were addressed in Mandarin Chinese. Reminds me a bit of Air Canada with their often French bias."

Cons: "My bags didn't fit and the staff was blatantly rude. I have never been barked at that way before, especially to open a window shutter. No please or thank you, just barking it at you until it's complete. I thought I must have misunderstood until I said goodnight and thank you to the same woman and just literally just stared back at me looking annoyed and didnt say a word. Too many people on this flight. It felt like we were crammed in."

Cons: "The weight limit of 7kg for carry on bags is enforced. I have never had my carry on weighed before, but China Airlines does. My bag was twice the weight limit, and the man checking my weight offered to check it for free. However, I did not want to check it because it had my DSLR camera and laptop computer with some other things. The weight limit is very small. I took everything out of my suitcase except the laptop and camera bag and it was still too heavy. Then I put some of my lenses in my purse took the camera and other lenses out of the bag and wrapped them in a scarf and managed to get it under the limit. So if traveling China Airlines make sure your carry on is less than 7kg, and good luck if you have electronics you don't want to check."
