Pros: This is a beautiful boutique hotel we have stayed at on many occasions. Slightly (say 10%) overpriced perhaps but a real gem in almost every other way.
Cons: Had lunch there on arrival. It was abyssmal English food at best. Overpriced, unimaginative and worthy of my old boarding school.

Cons: Suite bathroom has a glass wall so not much privacy. Toilet and shower have a frosted door so a little better but still could be uncomfortable if that’s not your thing.

Pros: Breakfast was delicious, served by a cheery waiter to get our morning off to a good start. Sadly, though, it didn't quite make up for the night before. While the location was good, just a few minutes walk to the city centre, it was a bit of a faff having to drive all the way out to leave the car in a park and ride, especially in the torrential rain. Our room was on the top floor of an annexed building and the steep stairs were a challenge for injured knees. The room was cosy and nicely decorated, but we could have done without the finishing touches from previous guests in the form of toothpaste splatter on the bathroom blind.

Cons: Our major issue with this 'hotel' came when we returned with companions after dinner out. Not unreasonably we were hoping for a pleasant drink in the bar to round off the evening. We were greeted with barely a glance by a member of staff who told us the bar was closed. It was ten past ten! We explained we were residents and he offered us a concession - we could be served one drink each but we would have to take it up to our room. At ten past ten!! We felt like naughty children being sent to bed early!

Pros: It was within walking distance from Oxford centre. The beds were exceedingly comfy. Both breakfast and room service were delicious. The garden view from the room was also lovely. I also appreciated the efforts that had been made to ensure the hotel was more environmentally friendly.
Cons: The only thing that could be considered a downside was that, during booking, I had pre-arranged with the hotel for them to do something special/place something in the room for my partner's birthday. This didn't happen but cannot complain as this was an extra and we did arrive quite early, which may have thwarted this. It was also quite busy that weekend, being so close to Valentine's, so do not hold this against the hotel. I would still give a 10/10 and would stay again.

Cons: Although it was a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds, I feel their housekeeping proceedures really brought them down. The room I stayed in had brown grime on the shower walls and had obvioulsy not been cleaned in a while. Also, the pillows were extremely flat and made for an uncomfortable night sleep. The sheets were also not changed in the 4 nights we stayed there. We knew this because they were put on without care so everytime you pulled back the covers your sheets came undone especially on my husbands side of the bed where there was not enough material to tuck them back under the mattress. More attention to this would have helped the stay!

Cons: The hotel was a warren of rooms and clinical in design lacking in any character. Our allocated room was very small with only a double bed and as one set of towels was delivered each day ,we wondered if we had been allocated a single room as it was a busy weekend. We received a refund of one night after complaining.
