Overpriced for the quality. Parking is a hassle. Staff not overly friendly. When I called down to ask about how to work the heat in our room, the man who answered said "if it doesn't work, there is nothing I can do about it"! AND it was cold but I eventually got it to work.
The price is WY too high.
The special atmosphere of the hotel The professionalism of the staff Location of the hotel
Shower heat very variable and difficult to control. Took ages to warm up.
Breakfast was fine - lots of staff but not v attentive.. Kippers were off the menu. Pity. Please remember that vegetarians would rather not have cheese interspersed with meat on the plate?
FRiday night meal was awful.Poor service, fish was old, sauce quite vile ( cream and no seasoning) the mushroom suet wasn't vegetarn option and salad had bacon in it.The meal took nearly 3 hours - we were told 45 minutes in that one main course option ( risotto) wasn't available and offered free olives ( which we were then charged for) .All in all it was v poor food and poorer service. Sorry but you did ask. I am grateful for the fact that the wine and service were apparently then knocked off my final bill.
Downtown location and uniqueness of staying in an old prison
With small non-opening windows (it was a prison cell to be fair), room ventilation could have been better
