Cons: The hotel is located in the heart of the city which is very convenient. However there is lots of construction around the area with lots of road closures ( this is not the hotel’s fault, but getting around can be annoying due to road closures). Free breakfast is great, but there were no hot options and the breakfast room was very crowded.

Cons: I was really surprised at how many problems i experienced and the inability of the hotel to fix them without hassle. Firstly, they seemed perpetually confused that I had booked two separate stays back to back to extend my stay. Told to completely checkout of one room and into another for the second day. So I packed up my things and check my bags only to find out that it was all unnecessary. I was billed for one extra night by accident. The Tv was very complex and failed the first night. The climate control was unable to keep the room at the desired temperature even after they fixed it. My room was not visited by housekeeping for stay over service and when I came back at 21:00 I had to wait for it even though I’d already alerted the front desk it had not been done before i left for the day at 12:00. And as others noted, the shower controls are remarkably hard to use. These are all small problems but far too numerous to be excusable.

Pros: I did not have breakfast at the hotel but the location was superb, right in the centre of downtown. From arrival to checkout every interaction I had with a staff member was polite and friendly, in some areas they went above and beyond. I had broken my wrist a week before and arrived in Montreal to find my Airbnb had been a scam. After some tears and internet searching I chose the sofitel. I arrived at the hotel a little battered, the Porter/Doorman D'arcy was the kindest most helpful, loveliest person I could of encountered. The help and and consideration shown was very much appreciated. I was helped through checkin by a lovely staff member as well and then escorted to my room. D'arcy helped me arrange my cases and open them and later a lovely note was sent gifting a dessert and ice cream to help me relax after a very stressful arrival in Montreal. The concierges in the otel were brilliant, from helping to arrange excursions to helping me create a walking tour for myself to see all of the main landmarks and lively areas. My room was very spacious and had a very well equipped bathroom, and all areas were kept very clean by the cleaner. To the hotel - Thank you, you all made my stay in Montreal perfect :-)

Cons: The speed of delivery for things you ask. Which wastes slot of time of a tourist. The Renoir is excellent restaurant as mentioned above but first day every one was great but second day the waitress was very bad. It’s took 50 minutes to deliver breakfast, we were late for our next activity. Parking access was very good but bit slow. Reception people also not consistent in helping. Some are good. The people who come for room cleaning and room check can do much better job. Therefore overall I think I this hotel needs to be consistent in delivering services. I accepted the rate when I booked due to brand name, but the from above mentioned feedback I think highly priced.

Cons: We feel there are generally touches missing at this class of hotel in Montreal to make it a true four star. The decor in this older hotel has been updated but only up to a point. There were no slippers in the room, the bathrobes are very thin and we had to ask for more than two slim bars of soap. Parking is private and has an extra charge. The breakfast room/restaurant is very small for a hotel of this size and the breakfast buffet priced at $25 per person. The à la carte menu prices are set/designed to nudge customers to take the buffet even if one only wants a bit of toast and coffee. We spent more than $60 on breakfast for two including tax and tip when all we wanted was a bit of toast and coffee. I would have left the hotel to eat but my partner likes to have his breakfast in hotel, which seems reasonable when choosing a four star. I resent feeling manipulated towards a particular menu choice (the perils of behavioural economics in the hands of businesses). We travel frequently in Italy in particular and would find it odd not to have a comprehensive breakfast included at this class of hotel and price. For these reasons I would hesitate to stay again.

Cons: No hot water in the shower and no one to fix it. Noise of the elevator all night long. Too few people at reception for checking in on a Friday night (1 person). Marathon during my stay meant that I could not access my car in the parking of the hotel during 2 days ( no one forewarned me when I booked nor when I checked in). Marathon started early in the morning with loud speakers in the streets as of 6am. Alarm clock in the room set at 6:30 that I could not turn off.

Hotel restaurant had nice options if you didn't choose to go out to eat. Staff at the Front desk very kind and engaging. I must mention Vincent on the evening shift for being an outstanding ambassador. The hotel packed us a lunch kit to take with us in the morning for an early departure. It was marvelous! The pool area is a true Zen experience. Close to the train station, underground city, and sights. I would definitely stay here again.

It's not the hotel's fault for having neighbors with screaming children, however, it is the hotel's responsibility to have adequate soundproofing between rooms. Pros: The breakfast buffet was one of the nicer buffets of its kind. We also had the option to have a sit down meal at a restaurant if we chose. Food at the buffet was fresh and delicious. Hotel restaurant had nice options if you didn't choose to go out to eat. Staff at the Front desk very kind and engaging. I must mention Vincent on the evening shift for being an outstanding ambassador. The hotel packed us a lunch kit to take with us in the morning for an early departure. It was marvelous! The pool area is a true Zen experience. Close to the train station, underground city, and sights. I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Only complaint I have, and this is minor, is the stairs you must go up to lead to the guest rooms. Our suitcases were large and heavy. Make it a ramp.

Pros: The location was outstanding. The staff were helpful and patient. The apartment had a small kitchen and the bedroom sitting area had a sofa and large TV. Convenient to walk to night life, many restaurants and shopping. Subway on the corner. Excellent! They even have a scale for weighing luggage.

Some of the staff were extremely helpful (like when there were no more parking spots in the back the overnight guy told me I could park in the front). There was a different male at check in that couldn't be bothered with being there and that was disappointing, he has a rude demeanor and wasn't helpful. The kitchen is fully stocked and it helped we could make breakfast and heat up food.

Cons: I will start by saying I expected too much from the property, I had really high hopes - we stayed at a similar apartment style in Montreal before and I will go back to that one although the location is a little further out. I thought we booked the family suite that included two beds in the bedroom area. I booked the one bedroom suite that only has one bed. Ok, my mistake and there was a pull out sofa we could use. I asked for a cot and it didn't come and I went to the reception area and they said they cannot find the cot, it bothered me. I asked for bedding for the pull out couch and they gave us 1 pillow and a sheet. Overall the lighting was very poor in the entire apartment I even took a lamp from the bedroom to put in the living room and that still wasn't enough, I think it was because we were facing the back and there was no natural sunlight. If you are higher up it might be better. We were on the 2nd floor and the "view" was the parking lot of the hotel (that only holds 4 cars but that's another topic) it included homeless that slept in the back so being that the balcony was in steps of the people that hung out back there, I was making sure that door was locked constantly. The carpet was disgusting, I was expecting the room with flooring but again I booked the wrong room. Just make sure you have slippers, I wouldn't let me kids play on the carpet it was noticeably filthy.

Cons: L’ost my reservation, parking lot has room for a bicycle Did not want to spend 15 minutes everyday to get out. Put me in wrong room had to go back to change, hotel is filthy, pictures of our room attached. To top of when I check. Out gave to go back upstairs to validate my parking pass. Not what I signed up for.

Cons: The beds: the mattresses were old and terribly uncomfortable. We could feel the springs as soon as we moved an inch in bed. We could actually hear them go "boing" when we moved. We did not sleep well because of that. I'm not saying the entire hotel is like this. But our room on the 14th floor certainly was. If you go, make sure you ask for newer mattresses / comfortable beds. For 150$ a night, I'd appreciate a comfy bed and a good night's sleep.

Cons: My only suggestion would be for management to consider refreshing the pool and shower area. I am a swimmer and take every opportunity I can to take advantage of a pool. I found the pool facilities a little in need of a good scrubbing and painting.

Cons: The hotel needs an upgrade. Furniture scratched and cloth chairs stained. The bathtub has water between the tub so you cannot balance properly when taking a shower - room 2418. Not worth the price.

Cons: Beds are bad. Very old hotel interior with very bad conditioned room and room facility. Very bad location. Homeless and drunk people are just outside the hotel door. Did not help us in our luggage at check is (as the receptionist said there is no one to help you; help your self and we were carrying lots of luggage) Do not book at this hotel please! Save your money for something else and it will definitely be better than to book at this disastrous hotel!
