Excellent 10.0
Pros: It's definetely one of the best places I've ever stayed at! Everything was fantastic! The room was homelike, and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious! The place is just a five-minute walk from Frontenac subway station. Many thanks to Jean René who is a wonderful and really helpful host!!!
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Host is extremely accommodating and friendly. Lovely breakfast in the morning too.
Cons: Only one strange/?unsafe situation where a group of approximately 10 men were hanging out directly outside the house at about midnight. Made walking home a bit scary. The host assured us though that they did this most Saturdays and it wasnt an issue.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The stories René told about his family and Montreal were wonderful.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Interior is cozy and owner is very friendly.
Cons: Location is a little away from center of downtown. However subway station is close, it’s not big problem.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Jean Rene was the perfect host. He is friendly, helpful and knowable about Montreal and how to make the most of my trip. He accommodated my dietary requirements and couldn't do enough to make me feel comfortable and at home.
Cons: I can't think of anything that could have improved my experience at Gite Ocion.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very nice b&b, good position near the subway and jean rene, the owner, is a very passionate and funny person (he is also a skilled cooker- its breakfast was superlative!). Higly recommended.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location was perfect. Everything we needed was nearby, Subway, supermarket, restaurants and shops. 15-20 min walk to the old town and the river. Richard the owner sent us e-mail (directions) so it was easy for us to get from the Airport to Le Cartier (by bus and the green line). Our room was very nice, lovely furniture and paintings, everything very clean, a lot of food in the kitchen for breakfast and a lovely, little "garden" :) Thank you Richard and neighbor Robert.
Cons: We liked everything. Would not want to stay anywhere else in Montreal.
Good 6.0
Pros: Location and the room was well appointed. It was great having the walkout to the beautiful courtyard. That was amazing. The owner was great.
Cons: The room was not as clean as it could have been and the bed was rock hard. Not what I am accustom to.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Richard met with me upon check-in and was a delightful, informative and knowledgeable host. The property was well-appointed, immaculate, tastefully decorated and had everything any guest could want. I felt completely comfortable and safe as a single woman staying for a week. Scott did an excellent job of daily upkeep, cleaning and restocking as well as providing a few laughs. The location was wonderful and I was able to walk almost everywhere to explore the beauty of Montreal. I look forward to returning to Le Cartier and appreciated the level of excellent service provided to me as a guest.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very quilt, clean and comfortable. Close to the supermarket Metro and the subway. Richard is very kind and introduced many information about Montréal.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great location, most friendly host, spacious and tastefully decorated rooms and gardens. Definitely coming back!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location was really convenient. Very close to the metro and many great restaurants.
Cons: Excellent experience all around. Very clean and comfortable. The owner and staff were super friendly.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This place is so cute!! Richard is an amazing host and the location is perfect. I am hoping to go back to Montreal before the end of summer and I will definitely stay here again (especially since the weather wasn't great when I was there and I would love to utilize the adorable outdoor space).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The art pieces in the room are lovely. Great to have access to kitchen area. Very conveniently located close to metro.
Cons: Parking was a little daunting, but Richard helped us figure it out.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Our host was very helpful. The property was very clean - peaceful garden. We were close to old Montreal and had a lovely time walking around exploring. We felt very safe in this property and area.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Richard is very friendly and helpful. He showed the room in detail and gave us a brief tour guide in Montreal. The location is good to take a Metro or just walking to downtown. The room is clean and has all the facilities.
Cons: Every thing is good.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Our host was very helpful and took a half hour to explain all the sights that we should see during our brief stay, as well as where to eat. Room was spacious and comfortable.
Cons: Polyester sheets.

Good 6.0
Pros: Breakfeast not provided. Ate at other locations. Staff were very good. They assisted in all arrangements and went above and beyond.
Cons: Even though we were paying for a premium room, sheets were never changed--5 night stay. Floors never cleaned...minimal cleaning.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Great location. Great breakfast. Nice staff.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Early 30s couple , no kids, stayed for romantic and elegant weekend in Montreal anchored in Vieux Port. Auberge du Vieux Port certainly delivered. Romantic boutique hotel along with frontage on other main drag of vieux port. Rooms are spacious, clean and beautiful. Exposed bricks, large wooden beams, large stones and deep set windows from colonial era give elegant aesthetic. King sized beds and linens very comfortable and clean. Gaspar restaurant in hotel makes delicious breakfasts (breakfast poutine and banana nutella crepes were our faves) and seemed to be a lively nightspot for dinner and drinks. Rooftop terrace offers scenic view of Vieux Port, both water and urban area. Hotel is walking distance to all main attractions of the area from the park, science center, ferris wheel, clock tower, champs des Mars, Notre dame basilica, / places des armes, and many large grand buildings from a previous architectural age, reminiscent of Europe. We dined at Barroco, a Spain /French food upscale restaurant set in colonial era building within walking distance from the Auberge and known for its paella; reservations a must.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Service was extraordinary and everyone couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Our room overlooking the river was beautifully decorated and the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. We will definitely stay here if we have occasion to return to Montreal.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Roof top bar awesome The timbers and beams gave the hotel a great old feel but all moderns comforts ... with complimentary coffee in morning.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The bed was very soft and fluffy. Very friendly and helpful staff! They were able to help us with all our needs and provide suggestions for places to go/eat. The room was very unique and had a great view of the river as well as the ferris wheel on Old Port. Location is great as well, only a short walk to tons of great restaurants, bars, and the boutiques on St. Paul. It's also very close to the Notre Dame Basilica. We were staying in the hotel for our anniversary and they provided us a nice card and a free bottle of Sparkling Wine! Just a wonderful experience!
Cons: Overall, we had no issues during our stay. The only slight inconvenience was that our hotel key cards demagnetized twice during our stay, but that was likely due to our own actions.
Good 7.5
Pros: Fabulous area. Hotel so quaint and lovely. The staff is outstanding. Celebrated our anniversary here and couldn’t be more pleased.
Okay 5.0
Pros: Nice staff
Cons: View was on trees and not the river. Room long and narrow with steel post in the middle. Windows not clean. Bathroom small. Bed too soft.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Perfect old port location and great rooms
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location, facility, exposed brick
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Wonderful location, friendly staff, clean, and a lovely terrace as well!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The decor with the stone and wood was gorgeous
Cons: I would have liked a couple of actual coffee cups instead of demitasse in the room and actual hot instead of tepid coffee available downstairs with a ready supply of cream.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: We loved the location, so central for attractions in Old Montréal and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
Cons: Our accommodation was on the top floor of a four storey building and there was no elevator! Maybe another time we would choose the associated Auberge du Vieux Port, as we did not fully use the self-catering facilities in the Lofts.
Good 7.1
Pros: Great location. Large apartment with a charming street view. Lots of windows and light. The staff at the Auberge de vieux Port were very helpful.
Cons: The bed was very hard and lumpy. 5 flights of very steep steps to get to the apartment.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Charming lofts. Great location. The staff at Aubère was very accommodating and friendly.
Cons: Construction on streets around the area ( not the fault of the proprietors). Stairs to our loft. No problem for our group but could be for those less active.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location was excellent
Cons: It is a loft and with that comes stairs
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It is located at the center of Old Port, and the amenities were great!! Thank you!
Cons: We were lucky because we stayed on weekend and were not bothered by the construction’s noises. However, when we left the hotel on Monday, they started to make a lot of noise from 8am. As the construction is pretty frequent here in Montréal, I would not recommend staying on weekdays if you want to relax in the morning.
Excellent 9.4
Cons: The lofts- I was informed via email following my prepayment of my three night stay- doesn't include daily housekeeping. This isn't the biggest issue, but there's no going down to the lobby for breakfast- the lofts are in a separate building. On the upside, the room is more like a large studio apartment. The room is well appointed and the kitchen is thoughtfully and thoroughly stocked. Though there is no minim-bar or snacks, there is a full-size frig, stove, cookware, etc.,etc. Overall, it's an excellent value.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Generous loft space including cooking facilities. Easy contact with the hotel reception if needed anything.
Cons: The view from the window.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We had a great stay! the lofts are really nice, spacious, clean and have everything you need. The location is just perfect, right in the center of old Montreal and the staff is super friendly! Would stay here again!
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The staff were amazingly courteous and friendly. Our loft was not in the main building, was 1 street back from the waterfront, and had a lovely view of the pier. We were able to leave ourbluggage until our room was ready, and once staff knee we were there, they got our room ready right away. The valet carried our bags down the street and up 4 flights of stairs to a beautiful loft woth expised brick, showing the beauty of the historical building. The loft was well maintained and clean with main kitchen dishes and appliances. Great place to stay! It is also above a great little bar/restaurant, Modavie, for which you'll likely need reservations.
Cons: I had no issues with the place, but our loft was on the 4th floor, stair access only, so this may be an issue for some. We didn't have neighbors the first few nights, but the walls were quite thin, and if we did have neighbors, we would have heard them.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Comfortable, spacious apartment, modern bath and kitchen, responsive, gracious staff
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Upon arrival we were upgraded to a larger loft. It was spectacular! The area was easy to get around. Excellent restaurants and shops within walking distance. Our favorite breakfast place was Eggspectation.
Good 6.7
Pros: The loft unit we were in was “tired” looking with very worn sofa and chairs, poor lighting, and not very national bathrooms (no place for toiletries or robes). There was an enormous skylight over our bed and the unit was quite noisy between 2-3am when the restaurants below are emptying trash. We had a warning about stairs but the were 64 to the unit. Lots and room, comfy beds with decent linens, scant kitchen supplies, interior walls and doors need some love. Hotel staff are wonderful and helpful. Restaurant staff for Sunday brunch acted bothered by the presence of customers.
Cons: See above

Pros: Location location, location room was comfortable, quirky but clean
Cons: Had to leave before breakfast to catch flight
Good 7.9
Pros: Lovely staff / owner Quirky decor , very French
Cons: Room could have benefited from a regular Deep Clean
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location
Cons: Lack of view from the room
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The French inspired atmosphere of the very large room. Beautifully decorated indeed. Very quaint old building and the landlord was very pleasant.
Cons: There was a notice stating that if we a couple to only use one of the double beds in the lovely room. The beds were narrow double beds and were rather uncomfortable.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We were welcomed to the Auberge and treated to a personal tour of this fabulous place
Cons: I have no complaints at all
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Just a wonderful experience. Friendly service!! A great location within the old city.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Perfect location, great breakfast, very relaxing and Claude was very helpful and kind.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Lovely host and fabulous location
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Excellent location and breakfast. Near historic sites, cruise port, restaurants, and metro.
Cons: Our room on 2nd floor had very low ceiling. Even a short person had trouble with bumping head on sloping ceiling
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Breakfast excellent. Beautiful room, nicely served
Cons: Bedroom window could not be opened due to faulty window, and management could not fix it. We had to sleep with our door slightly open. No coffee in room, and breakfast coffee not available till 8am. In this old part of Montreal coffee was hard to find early in the morning. Very low sloping ceiling in room, we had to crouch to get round the bed. We were not warned of this.

Excellent 9.6
Pros: Perfect location, stylish hotel, helpful staff. The rooftop bar has an incredible view.
Good 7.5
Pros: Bed and shower
Cons: Dark and sad room. Towels were not changed the second day. Aminities were not replace the second day. The sink was not draining properly. Food smell in the corridor.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Loved the location and the property is beautiful.
Cons: If you’re booking with the thought of hanging out by the pool or having a drink/meal at one of the rooftop restaurants- prepare to possibly be disappointed. I understand this is a ‘private pool’ but my thought was that it’s private for guests. Not so. $60 extra if you want to use it. Also, on a warm and lovely evening, both rooftop restaurants were ‘closed’ for private events. I feel that hotels should disclose this when you’re booking. Part of the reason we chose this property was to enjoy the view and have a meal high above Montreal. We stayed for two nights and guest access was restricted the entire time. Additionally, every time we were about to get on an elevator, staff would harass us asking if we were going to the rooftop because it was closed. We got it the first time. Not acceptable.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Excellent hotel administration - very service oriented culture; staff went the extra mile. Good beds & room temperature control - we had a good night's sleep (we were there for 4 nights) Rooftop bar / restaurant space
Cons: Small workout facility - but adequate. Bathroom sink stopper didn't work and was not fixed over the 3 days we stayed in the room.
Mediocre 2.0
Pros: Front desk, bell staff excellent
Cons: Service at breakfast, stopped using restaurant after 2 disappointments, never ate at hotel again, sad.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Amazing hotel in the heart of Old Montreal. Funky place with a fantastic roof top terrace. So many cool hang out spots within the hotel. We didnt need our car - tons of cafes, restaurants and bars all walking distance, as mentioned this is in the heart of Old Montreal. Will definitely be back. Oh and the bed was so comfy
Cons: Can't say anything negative so I'll continue sharing all the positives - helpful friendly staff, cute cafe in hotel. Room was a decent size - I was expecting smaller. Mini bar offerings were reasonably priced
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Location n stylish
Cons: Waiting time at Resturant for the breakfast when there was unoccupied tables.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The view from our room Mini bar Pillows Robes
Cons: Alarm in room going off at 8 am on a Sunday.

Pros: What an amazing place amazing staff.
Cons: I loved everything!

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Friendly staff, good community spirit, sociable if you fancy to socialise but not a party hostel Great bathrooms Best location
Cons: nothing :)
Good 7.5
Pros: Thank you for being here for us.
Cons: Internet some time not speed enough on room.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Good value for money, great position, no particular issues. Good that the breakfast is included, although there is little choice. The stairs are large (i.e. bringing luggage upstairs is a bit uncomfortable, but not as difficult as in other hostels with narrow stairs). Clean.
Cons: The hostel is split into two parts, there are some stairs and no elevator (luckily the stairs aren't too uncomfortable though). There is a code to enter the building, but the different rooms have no key or code, and any guest from any room can enter any room--not very safe! Breakfast should include more options than just coffee and bagels/bread. In particular, I missed the option of having apple juice or some other non-caffeinated drink. There was some issue with my bed (it was already occupied), but that got solved. Staff is good (although the last evening I needed to get my luggage from the storage room, there was only one staff member at the reception, and it took her ages to check in a group of 3 people, I needed to wait I think about 1 hour to get my luggage... I wasn't in a rush, but I could have been! Better have 2 people at the reception all the time!). Shower cubicles shouldn't have slits on the sides of the doors. The ladders of the beds are uncomfortable and painful for the feet, especially if you are on the bed on top (the bunk beds are triple).
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The staff are really nice and welcoming, the rooms are clean and also the bathroom area. The hostel is well prepared for any questions or recommendation for places to go in the city and for any another requests.
Cons: The shower area is very small, not enough space for hang the cloth. Also, if you're coming with a lot of stuff you should consider bring a smaller bag because there is not enough space in the room.
Okay 5.0
Pros: The atmosphere at breakfast and in the evening, there is a beautiful light coming from the window and a nice atmosphere. For various problems I wanted to leave earlier than expected, and they were kind, to understand my reasons, and help me with the return of the payment.
Cons: The position of the rooms, far from the central complex, the first night I found some bedbugs in the bed, and that on Saturday and Friday evening, there is a disco just below and with the bass, it is difficult to sleep, or you wake up the next day with a headache. Cleanliness and comfort, then in general, is not the best card of this hostel.
Good 7.9
Pros: Came in at 5am and they didn't charge me an extra night even though I slept on the couch in the common area. Breakfast was okay, just different types of bread and spreads with tea and coffee BUT it is on until 11am which is great if you're not an early riser. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and well kept. Definitely not a party hostel, come here to chill and maybe get some work done. Always have something good on the TV.
Cons: Not greatly social, but if you make the effort with people you can make friends. Not a party hostel (which can be a plus depending on you). Beds are not that comfy but not uncomfortable - sleepable.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Extremely clean and cozy!
Cons: none
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The kindness of the guys at the counter ( Ben)
Cons: The bedrooms weren't cleaned during the day
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The Hostel is very well located, clean, organized and cozy. We actually have felt like in our own home. Thanks Auberge Saint-Paul for the hospitality, we've appreciated :) See you soon...
Cons: Could have fruits and eggs in the coffee break (eggs we could even cook by ourselves). All the breads and bagels was very taste, very good. But no protein and no fruit :(

Pros: Owner(?) was very friendly and flexible with us overall; went a bit extra to make our stay comfortable. Nice room, had everything we wanted and could expect at a chain hotel. This is a very small place, only a handful of rooms, so it was quiet and pleasant. Glassware and misc for drinks in the atrium, lovely back patio for working or relaxing, and it's conveniently a block or two (off the beaten path) from the start of a major dining/nightlife area. Oh, and breakfast was a meal voucher for this amazing cafe at the entrance to that area and was probably the best 'hotel breakfast' any of us had ever had
Cons: Only one set of keys per room meant we had to really coordinate for our group of 4, but it wasn't that bad

Okay 5.4
Pros: The bathroom was amazing as well as the location.
Cons: The first thing I did was kill a MASSIVE spider in the room, the bed was rock hard, there were 7-8 moths on the ceiling, the wall were a little to thin if you know what I mean.........
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Nothing bad to say, place was nice for what it was. i sleep like a baby.
Okay 5.4
Pros: Fair price.
Cons: Cleanliness of elevator could be improved. Bath towels need to smell better.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Friendly staff. Comfortable rooms.
Cons: Just a little far from everything. To get to the metro was a 15 minute walk. Better to have a car.
Good 7.5
Pros: Great hospitality
Good 7.9
Pros: The price! Such a great deal, and so easy to get into the city, we walked most days, takes maybe about 45 minutes which was perfect. (We are both big walkers tho in our 20s). Even if you don't want to walk there is a bus outside you can use and Ubers are very useful to use too.
Cons: In our bathroom it looked like there was water damage on the ceiling that was just painted over, and it was quite obvious. It was fine as it didn't affect us at all but someone else might not be happy with it, and it's probably a bit unsafe. But that's the only thing really I didn't like. The rooms are old too and the hotel could probably use a freshen up but it's nice.
Good 7.1
Cons: Towel

Pros: Just needs updating then it would be a fab place again x
Cons: Needs updating, with new flooring of wood instead of carpet, the rooms could do with a brighten up with a paint and new bedding this would be a great place . New towels would be good as we used our own .

Pros: Location
Cons: Houskeeping didn't made the bed on sunday
Excellent 8.5
Pros: I loved the quaint and charming atmosphere of this hotel. The owners are very hospitable and helpful.
Cons: The street noise if you stay at the room facing the street.
Good 7.0
Pros: The bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Staff was very pleasant. Breakfast was satisactory, but adding some fresh fruit would be very nice; there was no fruit at all. Price was very reasonable. Overall experience was good.
Cons: Shower was too small and they had no conditioner. Location was too far from Centre-Ville and the metro, unless you have a car. Easier access to ice machine.
Good 6.0
Pros: Small quaint rooms - very old but clean, hot showers, comfortable beds, perfect for single traveler on a budget, good jogging trail, close to St. Lawrence river
Cons: Room very small for two adults, breakfast was just toast, cereal, coffee and juice, parking was very tight, Monday to Friday cannot park in front of hotel from 7:00 - 9:00 am, very industrial part of city

Pros: Location and lovely staff.
Cons: The bed was little dusty when we first arrived.
Okay 4.0
Pros: The location for the price is what was best about this hotel. It was within walking distance to the port area and to the central metro station. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: Hotel was very run-down. The towel bars were ripped off of the walls, carpet ripped, and the shower curtain clung to me when showering due to improper installation of shower curtain bar. Hard to sleep -- nearby guests were playing heavy metal all night.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Location was fantastic for the money. Room clean and adequate for one night’s stay.
Cons: So old, run down and grungy Breakfast was fresh and consisted of an orange juice, coffee, croissant and jam served on a tray at reception and taken to eat in your room.
Okay 5.0
Cons: the employees are so rude. They made me pay twice, even though i emailed them prior explaining my mom was paying for it on her card and that i’ll have my own cards and ids with me but not the original. Original payment was made in early sepetember and the employee made me pay a second time, saying he’d reimburse me in the morning. then he hardly wanted to accept my ID and at this point we were so late we missed our event. The event we came to montreal for - which i told him several times i’m sorry sir but i am going to be late. Following this we went outside near the entrance but 9 meters away and to let my emotions out and have a cigarette. within a few minutes the hotel staff ran outside and screamed that the cops are coming for us. I was so confused and said EXCUSE ME?? as all i was doing was crying outside and having a cigarette - once realizing we were staying at this place, they told us to move closer to the building after just repeatedly screaming that the police are on their way. perhaps thought we were loitering? super scary, especially considering i was already crying. Super unprofessional and rude and made my whole experience an unpleasant one. Did not even apologize about the police comment just said something along the lines of “you are staying here? police are on their way i’ll tell them not to bother you.” We just we to the park because at that point i was too freaked out, anxious, and embarrassed to even look at the lobby men. While we were at the park my mom called trying to sort things out and the employees proceeded to scream at her as well. All i can say is i want to go home. will not be returning.
Okay 5.4
Pros: Hotel is only 10 min walk from the Old Town of Montreal. It is in the heart of the city within easy reach of Metro stations. It is cheap and value for money.
Cons: The staff was not friendly and one felt as if they could not care less who their guests were. The rooms are very small, even claustrophobic. Furniture is old. One can hardly move around and find space for the luggage. The one and only window cannot be opened and the a/c has to stay on 24/7. Lack of clean fresh air. Even though the room and bathroom were clean, my husband got bitten by Bed Bugs. (it happened to him before, so we know how those bites look like since confirmed by dermatologist) He is very allergic to those bites and got so swollen he was limping. Even though I do not blame the hotel for the bed bugs, a thorough parasite treatment should be carried out.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Hotel Viger was in a perfect location for us. It is close to the Metro, Rue St, Catherine and Vieux Montreal. We found a Lebanese Restaurant a few minutes walk away and enjoyed that. Same for Chinatown. No complaints About Location and the price was right for what we needed.
Cons: We had a room on the busy street side ( Rue Viger ) and could hear the traffic all the time. Perhaps investing in some newer windows on that side to soundproof the Rooms might be an idea for the future. The cost is minimal and worth the effort. Apart from that, no issues whatsoever.
Okay 5.0
Pros: Seemed clean enough in terms of the room and bathroom.
Cons: The female staff member at the desk caused a lot of complications and nonsense. First, the phone reception in my room was terrible, so I wasn’t getting calls. Not to mention the hotel phone in the room wasn’t working. (I found that part out later.) A friend called the front desk twice for me and was told that my room was not occupied at all. I had been checked into the hotel and room several hours prior. As a result my friend was now panicking thinking something happened to me. I only later found out about the calls much later when I had gone to reception to change a battery for the remote control. The woman at reception rudely told me “There are no visitors allowed at all,” and kept saying this about 4 or 5 times. Then some nonsense, again very rudely about “people not coming here to work,” or some nonsense. I still have no idea what caused that nonsense. So: 1) I NEVER asked or invited anyone over. 2) I was wondering why she was telling me this, even though I didn’t invite anyone. This is aside from no one telling me this when I checked in and it’s not on their website or booking.com. 3) It was only later that night I found out my friend had called me. So if I hadn’t gone to reception later that night, she wouldn’t have told me?!??! I went outside due to the poor phone reception and called my friend to see if it was either him or his wife that called and he said yes, and that they were worried, as they tried to call my phone then the hotel and they were told no one was in my room. What kind of nonsensical way is this to run a business? Not worth the money, just a ridiculous experience. Choose a better hotel that values and respects customers and isn’t condescending.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Clean linens every time I came back to my hotel, garbage was always emptied, and very quiet room. Room 250 was where i stayed.
Cons: Nothing that comes to mind
Good 6.7
Pros: The bed was actually comfy and the fact there was a deck was awesome. I was nervous of bed bugs as I read in previous reviews but there were none. The mattress did however have a pretty skookum mattress cover on it. Very small pillows for the size of bed and only one towel per bed. No hand towels or face clothes. Paper bath mat, LOTS of shampoo, very broken toilet paper holder, very visible and stained carpet. The location was a nice walking distance. The night lady freaked me out as to where I should and shouldn’t park but everything was as it should’ve been in the morning. Definitely not fancy but if you need a place to lay your head and a quick wash and inexpensive this is the place to go.
Okay 5.8
Pros: The staff very helpful and pleasant and chatty and the location was great
Cons: We stayed here for four nights part of our ur three week tour of Canada for our honeymoon we had originally booked a air b n b many months ago for Montreal but last minute it was cancelled we wanted somewhere close to the centre at a reasonable price though majority of the property’s were sold out the reviews weren’t great passable was the rating on booking com anyway for forty pounds a night UK price with breakfast we decided to give it a go the staff were great and truly went out of their way to help but the reasons for the cheap price we’ll the property is clean but it is very dated deco the bed is hard but is a decent size they have air con with gaps as they have taken half of the window out to fit the air con so it was cold though asked staff and they put duck tape so wasn’t a issue the breakfast was coffee or tea in a takeaway cup with. Tinned cream milk with a croissant with jam on a tray served from eight till nine in the morning and a cup cake the receptionist explained and helped us out and gave us a map the major issue that would be the main reason I would say to avoid is outside as it’s on a corner as soon as u walk outside you got beggars even when we caught a Uber they would be standing on balcony by the door of hotel as many as five or six at a time more often than not most times we left or went back to the hotel we would get asked by beggars it was strange as they all stayed right at that hotel the city itself wasn’t that bad though we like to help but we came back reasonable early in the night or a elderly couple this would definitely be intimidating so ithe updating needs a lot of work but friendly cheap clean great location but safety outside even to catch a Uber at any time is intimidating if this issue can be tackled I’d recommended but sadly I’d say no avoid this hotel sadly for this reason safety is paramoumt and it is unacceptable to be intimidated on several occasions and nowhere else in the city we had this problem so may be this area unsur

Pros: ease to rent the place for a few hours to spend time with when picking up someone
Mediocre 2.9
Cons: Stained towels. Constant arguements with staff. Promises made and broken in the next sentence. Moved us into a different room for night 2 and moved our stuff into an area to hold ransom until I could return the keys. Interrupted a full day event just to go back and gather my stuff to place in another room. Was triple parked in the back alley in the morning so had to use metro and cabs all day. Was also charged $160.00 straight to credit card for no reason... whatever it was they didn't add taxes so tax evasion... The place is a scam at best. Had to get local police involved.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Close to metro Friendly helpful staff Basic room but clean Bonus fridge
Cons: Not a problem for me but for others maybe, there are 2 sets of steep stairs
Good 7.9
Pros: Very good location. Close to metro and walking distance to main attractions; very friendly and helpful staff; basic but well equipped room
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The are is very pretty and there are many restaurants in a ver short walking distance
Cons: 3 fl walk up , room is just a bed
Mediocre 3.8
Pros: Close to downtown.
Cons: Que hotel smells like cigarettes every where, even at the no smoking area.

Pros: Very good location
Cons: My room has bedbugs... owner called exterminator. Barely slept my 3 night stay
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I love this hotel very friendly if I ever come to montreal I would always stay here this my third time staying here so that's saying every thing bonus the airport bus is 10 minutes walk. Also bus station is same going owatta and other destinations so its very handy close to many restaurants. Enjoy my stay here.
Cons: All good here
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Every thing
Cons: I stay here when I come to Montreal this city is full of life
Okay 5.4
Pros: The staff was very friendly.
Cons: The carpet throughout the hotel appeared very worn and stained. The bathroom floor needed to be replaced. At breakfast, the coffee was so weak that it had no taste. The only muffins available were chocolate or chocolate chip. The breakfast room was too small. The guide on the TV was difficult to use. When we chose a channel, often we were asked to pay for it. We had no idea which channels were included as free. We did find free channels, but it took a while.

Pros: I liked the comfort of the bed and room I felt secure since it was a buzz in door from the street and try had security cameras. Internet was great. The location right next to subway station was very convenient.
Cons: I didn’t like that at certain times the water temperature in the shower would fluctuate.
Good 7.7
Pros: The location is right off the main strip of St Catherine - however the room was clean and the owners were wonderful. If you're simple and easy to please, this place can save you money and it's not that bad of a compromise at all.
Cons: There can be some shady looking individuals that are contstantly askin for change on the steps of the place. There where a couple mosquitos in my room upon arrival. The AC unit is a movable ground unit that connects to the only window in the room. Door to the bathroom would not close.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Quiet hotel in a good neighbourhood, bus/subway stop at front entrance. Great area with lots to see within walking distance. By no means a fancy hotel, but has everything I need during a stay. The location is great, the staff are all super friendly, free street parking out front. Don’t think you’d find a better price/value hotel.
Mediocre 3.3
Pros: Just the location.
Cons: The room wasn’t clean and there was no breakfast to be served .When I asked about breakfast I have been told that there is no breakfast and no coffee to be served .
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I loved the staff members especially Claudia! She was helpful, friendly and always welcoming! Claudia YOU ROCK!
Cons: Not all the Rooms have microwaves
Good 7.1
Pros: The bed was comfortable
Cons: There is not really breakfast. Store bought croissants and cereal It is difficult due to many stairs to bring luggage up.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Great location, there's a huge supermarket in the corner, a few meters away from the Metro station, and in the heart of the gay neighborhoud. Lots of restaurants to choose from and within walking distance. The room was big and confortable enough.
Cons: I do have to say breakfast was a bit lacking, i think it could improve a bit the choices, but it was ok for a quick toast and coffee. Really small stairs, not handicap accessible, and could use a bit of maintenance. But in general was an ok choice.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: I arrived very night and have to leave very early. No time for breakfast. The Hotel has the value for the money, clean and comfortable for the price.
Cons: My only problem was the door with a very weak lock and also has a space in between that allows all the light from the hall geting into the room.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Location. Right across from the Metro stop and close to the Metro supermarket. The people there were very helpful in helping me with luggage, etc.
Cons: I would have liked a room on the ground floor. I am in lline for hip replacement and climbing the stairs was difficult. Not sure I will do it again.
Okay 5.1
Pros: Room was somewhat clean but you get what you pay for. Located only 2k from old Montreal.
Cons: They rent by the hour! A hooker asked if she could use our room because the hotel was full at the time AC stopped working at 1am and the widows don’t have screens. The AC also dropped into the room but don’t worry they have a garbage can to catch the water. There is very limited street parking after 6pm but we were warned by the hotel it wasn’t very safe. Park at own risk
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Clean. Very frendly staffs, near subway stn ( only 1min by walk. Near metro supermarket. Easy to access attractive points by subway. Value money.
Cons: The blanket makes me a bit itchy.
Good 6.3
Pros: It was nice to have TV, high speed WiFi & air conditioning.
Cons: It was more of the neighborhood and some of the neighbours that were questionable. Still a comfy bed though it seems like the shower door was painted on which forced me to yank it open as a result.

Pros: Location .... ex access to the main attraction in the city and the old city. Parking building just mins away.
Cons: Nothing really stood out as bad. The room quite tight for 2 persons with bags.
Good 6.3
Pros: Location
Cons: Breakfast. Updated furniture
Okay 4.6
Cons: It advertised air conditioning, but it was central air, not adjustable in each room, and the air had been turned off for the season, so our room was extremely warm & stuffy. Also, the room was extremely small, barely big enough for the double bed. The bathroom was less than desirable, black/dirt between all the floor tiles and the toilet paper roll was attached to a broken toilet paper holder. The lobby was stuffed with dingy, overstuffed couches.
Excellent 9.4
Pros: Close to cruise port and enjoyed service and staff
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Ok it is important to be sure of the dates you book; I made a mistake and although we were able to get in, there is NO crediting back for an error. We arrived later than expected due to traffic, and the lady was still waiting for us for which we were grateful. This is a small hotel with a nice little restaurant that provided us with breakfast of our choice every day. You could also get a drink or order lunch or dinner there at a reasonable price. There are no elevators so you must be able to do stairs and carry your own luggage. The rooms of this little boutique hotel are small but fit our needs...we are gone 12 hours a day. The bathroom was clean and you are given a key to the hotel and the stairway and your room as the hotel closes at 11 pm. The room does not have a hairdryer .The location could not have been better as we walked everywhere......the parking garage is right around the corner at about $18 a day....have to go in and out for a new ticket each day.
Cons: Not the hotel's fault, but the traffic and construction in Montreal is awful. We got right to the city line fine and then after driving 2 hours aimlessly around....several people wrote down directions only to find out there was yet another detour or road closed for the weekend.....finally we found a taxi driver that we paid to lead the way to the hotel and parking garage. I am not sure what we would have done without him. The receptionist waited for us past 11 pm although she faced a 1.5 hour journey home herself for what should be a 25 minute drive. We stayed put in the parking garage except for our last day adventure to Montmorency Falls which we did in daylight! I think all of Montreal's tourist employees depend heavily on tips and it seems that many tourists are not used to tipping or tipping "accordingly"....saw some give 50 cents...many none at all. The guy at the reception desk asked us directly..."you left a tip, right????" which I thought was a bit rude ...we had of course......but in Quebec they tended to add it right on ...a hefty tip.... or came right out and asked for one!
Mediocre 3.8
Pros: It was a terrible experience. Rooms too small. No elevator. Staff unfriendly. Will not recommend.
Cons: Staff first and foremost.
Okay 4.6
Cons: ventilation in the hotel was terrible the walls were extremely thin u could hear the snoring of the person sleeping next door. very poor lighting and extremely old style.
Okay 4.0
Pros: When I first walked into the lobby it was very cute and quaint and homy. The restaurant was located right off the lobby and the included breakfast was hot and delicious! I had one supper in the restaurant which was also very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful! Close to OLD Port Montreal with lots of shopping and history to be found.
Cons: The room was very small and I was expecting at least a queen-size bed. the room was barely 12 X 12 and had only two single beds and not the queen I was expecting. The room was so small there was no room for a chair or desk and with the weather being rainy I spent more time in my room than normal so I had no place to sit and watch TV or do some paperwork. The beds were not very comfortable and they squeaked so loud every time you moved on them that I am sure the neighbors heard them. The bedspreads that were used were so oversized thay had to tuck them under the bed on the floor making it look sloppy. Also no elevator so if you have heavy bags it is hard getting up the winding stairs, especially if you are on the third floor as I was. Not a good choice if you have issues with stairs and/or lifting heavy luggage.
Okay 5.0
Pros: Location. Clean. service was good
Cons: The room was in disrepair. The light fixture in the bathroom was broken. TV didn’t work, no cover on a electrical outlet in the room.No water stopper in the tube and the sink.
Okay 5.8
Pros: Great location and staff was very friendly until check out.
Cons: A charge for tips was made at check out. We had tipped 20% cash for every meal and for any drinks at the bar. We also left cash for the the housekeeping staff. I explained this when checking out and was told that it did not matter I still had to pay the tipping charge. When I expressed my disappointment with this I was told if I did not like it I could send an email but I still had to pay it. When I said this was wrong I was told to be nice and pay. I know this is a 2 star hotel but it is not the way to treat guests. Very disapointed would definitly not recommend this hotel. Don't like to pay to be treated rudely.
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: The location was excellent two blocks from old Montreal The staff was exceptional
Cons: Old hotel the rooms were small, barely enough room to open the entry door without hitting the bed. Extension cords used to connect tv and cable box. We were on first floor of rooms. Had to carry bags around three bends in stairs (4 steps each).
Good 6.3
Pros: Location
Cons: Rooms were very small. No elevators. TV did not work. Afternoon staff was not friendly
