Pros: There was a two hour blackout and the emergency lights never went on. I complained about that. I was told that they were working on it. The next night there was twenty minute blackout and the emergency lights were working.
Cons: There should be a system to contact everyone to reassure them that everything is alright during a blackout.

Pros: I love their comforter and pillows so much, that I remembered to stay there again, even though the last time I stayed was maybe 12-13 years ago. This despite the fact that I've tried 4 Seasons and other luxury hotels. This is the only one that left an impression. Great restaurant - tried it for dinner and breakfast. The only negative is the (free) WIFI - connection was difficult, convoluted, and unreliable.

Pros: Only a block and a half from the Bell Centre, the Novotel is the place for Habs fans to stay. Bilingual staff is very friendly and helpful, refurbished rooms are well done -- very comfy beds including the sofa-bed if you need it, lots of electrical outlets to charge your toys, good lighting, free wifi throughout that works well. The on-site restaurant offers a good variety at very fair prices -- including a great breakfast buffet.
Cons: Not connected to the underground city

Pros: Awesome location in the downtown area. We ate at 5 restaurants on our block (or across the street) alone and all were delicious. Very easy access to metro and bus stops and a short walk to the museum and Mont Royal Park. Staff was friendly and even provided us with a late checkout free of charge.
Cons: 1 broken elevator made getting in and out pretty slow. The pool was under renovation so we didn't get the great rooftop view ... although you can get just about the same view from the 27th floor gym window.

4.2
Pros: Location
Cons: Site displays pictures of pool, but its being repaired! The real problem is it looks like its been out all year and it appears they do not plan on repairing it anytime soon, yet the misleading pictures are still on the web site. Hotel is old, which normally could be a plus, but stupid/cheap updates have removed the charm and character without adding anything.

Pros: Spacious room, clean, with kitchenette, which was a welcome surprise. We didn't have time to take advantage of the pool, but there next time we stay we will make time for it. Walking distance to everything. A little far to the old port, but we still walked it and it was fine. Staff were wonderful. When we're in Montreal again we will stay here.
Cons: Parking was a little expensive, and the construction on Sherbrooke made getting in and out difficult, (though obviously not the fault of Cantlie. Other than that I can't think of anything that was a negative.

Pros: Close to museums, McGill University, the metro and other attractions. Very comfortable hotel, quiet with spacious clean rooms. We particularly liked the restaurant, able to provide a late breakfast to us coming from the West coast and sleeping in. This stay was pleasant and enjoyable, thanks!
Cons: We came away from this stay with positive feelings, if I have to stretch for what I did not like it would be limited to their replacing our towels after one use despite asking us to hang up our towels so they could cut back on laundry. Wish all my complaints where so small!

Pros: Hotel is located conveniently to downtown Montreal including restaurants, shopping and the Metro. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We had an issue in our bathroom that was promptly fixed. Bar and wait-staff very nice.
Cons: Buffet breakfast was disappointing. Hotel seemed unprepared for the larger crowd trying to have breakfast. Ran out of food and were not ready to replenish for new people coming in. Eggs and bacon put out were considerably under-cooked.

Pros: The staff helped immediately when the air conditioned of our room failed during a heat wave. Rooms are /very/ large and equipped with a complete kitchen. The beds are extremely comfortable and the sheets are top quality. Sound proof is another plus: living in NYC I /truly/ appreciated it.

Pros: Beds were very comfortable and rooms were very clean. The location was great, we walked everywhere.
Cons: They advertise a king bed in our room we booked but they do not have king beds in the hotel, their "king beds" are actually queen size beds. False advertisement. The staff argued with us over this matter after we had an 8 hour drive and got there at 1:30 am on friday july 31. Cons: (1) Cheap Mattress (2) Room Decor & Furniture ok for the brand & money (3) Curtains had tiny holes in them (4) Bathroom Wall was not painted after some repair...rusty look left visible (5) Cammode shaky when you sit on it (6) Rooms not as bright, suggest putting LED WHITE lights instead

Pros: Location was close to the convention center, the arts district, and the shoppoing as well. It was close tot he bus and train routes but did not try these. The view was good enough. Wi fi was free with membership. The location is on top of a mall. The room had a fridge for small items. The staff was helpful and couteous. The rooms were quiet. Elevator wait was short. Pool is 8 feet and workout room was adequate.
Cons: Shower was slightly weak (that is being very picky). There is a set of elevators to get to the lobby from the lobby, just a slight inconvenience but increases security. Could have info on transportation to airport on their site.

Pros: Central location
Cons: Elevator system is a mess. Slow and you have to switch several times to get to where you need to so it feels slow and in efficient Some staff are rude - very European wanna-be. Others are polite and service oriented as one would expect Check in at 4pm seems a little ridiculous IMO

Pros: The location is great, museums, old montreal, notre damme, mcgill, train station, restaurants, everything at a reasonable walking distance, breakfast is a very good buffet.
Cons: The breakfast is a little expensive, there is poor signaling for the lobby, and since it is in the 6th floor it is a little tricky to find it

Pros: The bed was comfortable and we had what we needed except a table to sit at would have made the experience better. VerygkAd to have had a refrigerator. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the very close proximity of Eggspectation restaurant where they have an outstanding breakfast menu.
Cons: We had trouble getting the room to warm up in the morning. I thought the listing said their pool was not open yet and so I didn't bring a swimsuit and missed the chance to use the pool. Also, Kayak, you confirmed my reservation but I never saw anything about printing a voucher so the front desk needed me to present my confirming email.

7.3
Pros: The staff was very professional and friendly. We were greeted & assisted by the valet upon arrival. He was clean, courteous & prompt. The elevator and lobby were clean, welcoming and friendly. Check in was a breeze. Upon arrival in our room---we found the accommodations exactly as advertised...new comfortable beds, view of the city, and typically in-room amenities.
Cons: Although the beds & pillows were new...the blankets were substandard---threadbare & flat "down" comforters, old & melted blankets (I believe these were "fuzzy" blankets at one time)...that were sticky to the touch. The walls were VERY thin and we heard a young couple arguing well into the night...security did come to address the issue and there was no other trouble after that. The next day, the management listened to our comments and I feel they are working on some of the above issues.
"Located in Ville-Marie, this hotel is within a 10-minute walk of The Underground City, Bell Centre and Christ Church Cathedral. Notre Dame Basilica and Saint Joseph's Oratory are also within 6 mi (10 km). Montreal Central Station is only a 2-minute walk and Bonaventure Station is 2 minutes. "

Pros: Our room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. Although we had heard some concerns about night time noise, the hotel was quiet during our stay. The pool was lovely as ever, and a hot tub has been added since our last stay. The water temperature was just right in both pool and hot tub. Lockers for your clothes are free. The exercise room is nice. The duck pond was fun to watch.
Cons: A hotel the size of the Bonaventure could really use three hot tubs, especially since (unlike many hotels) the pool is so popular. We thought the hotel restaurants were a little expensive, although there are some reasonable dining options in the levels below Place Bonaventure. The carpeting in the hallways looks very worn, but on closer inspection, it's the pattern.

Pros: Unique experience superior location kind and helpful staff. Asked for a room with great view in quiet location and this was delivered. We arrived early and our bags were cared for and again the next day after checkout. It was an experience to swim and hottub on a roof top and see ducks swimming in a pond with large spruce trees outside while eating great breakfast buffet the next morning again on a roof top. Took someone special to Montreal for her 77th birthday and she was so impressed with our stay, the staff and the facilities that we have decided to make an annual event.
Cons: That we didn't have more time

Pros: The Bonaventure is a rather unusual hotel, built in a very late 20th century modern style on the top 2 floors of an office/convention center building. Its rooms are laid out in a ring, surrounding a center lobby area with a bar and restaurant, year-round outdoor heated pool and hot tub, and a pond with ducks. Rooms are sleek and modern in a 1960-70s way, but comfortable and updated with firm beds and very nicely sized bathrooms. The rooms are very quiet, The ring layout means that there is minimal hallway noise and the hotel is high enough and with thick enough windows that there is almost no street noise (and many rooms face inner courtyards instead of the street). Staff and service are friendly and efficient, without being intrusive. Bonaventure isn't super-deluxe, but it is a welcoming, calming, and unique experience.
Cons: The only things I can think of is that the walk to the rooms can be a little long, due to the unusual layout and the fact that there are only 2 elevators between the street level and the lobby on the 10th floor. And guests should be aware that there will be short stairways between the lobby area and the hallways for the rooms. The drain in our tub was quite slow, but we let management know and they said the situation would be fixed before the next guest came. There is not a lot going on in the immediate area around the hotel, particularly at night (but there is a large train station across the street with multiple food options, including late fast food and a 24 hour Tim Horton's, and hotel is connected through convention center to underground passages and Metro station).

Pros: Friendly staff, clean rooms, great maid-service, comfortable bed. Nice, spacious work-out facility, free newspaper. Great location for getting onto the metro. Definitely, it would be a good place, I can imagine, to stay in, during a winter visit.
Cons: Pricey buffet. Didn't eat there because of cost. 25 dollars per person. Wifi only worked well in the closet or bathroom locations, in our room. The exterior and interior of the hotel are concrete. So, at first I had a feeling of being incarcerated. However, I adjusted and realized many buildings Montreal are similarly constructed.

Pros: The hotel was in a great location, we didn't have to drive anywhere, a tip- valet parking is $26 or one street over it was $9 all day/night underground.. staff was very friendly and rooms where pretty clean (just don't use the dishes provided, I used a glass and left it in the sink and after the cleaner left in the morning the dirty cup was put back on the shelf with the clean ones with coffee still in the bottom and there was no soap to wash it myself) Only complaints, we stayed for 4 days and for the first 2 we didn't have a key to our room because the door wasn't working, so we had to have staff take us upstairs every time we came in. The breakfast was terrible, don't waste $10 on hard muffins, apples and begals. And the walls were a little thin, we could hear the room beside us talking and coughing. All in all we have stayed in pretty bad hotels but this doesnt make the list and we wouldn't not recommend it.

Pros: The concierge was amazing. He gave great advice and made our restaurant reservations. Definitely will use the service of a concierge in my future travels. Loved the room style and décor, very modern. The room we had was pretty big and had a cute balcony, though I wish there were a couple of chairs out there to be able sit.
Cons: The breakfast is not worth it for the price they charge. Go outside the hotel to St. Catherine's. We found a great place where we got to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere of the city. Also getting a drink at the bar is way too costly for the amount of liquor you receive. The housekeeping staff I would say is kind of slow at cleaning. We left the hotel room at 9am and returned at 4:30pm. Our room was still not cleaned. I ended up just asking for fresh towels. We were relaxing and getting ready for the evening when we received a note underneath our door saying that if we were leaving by 6pm they would still clean our room. At least they did leave a note.

Pros: Delta Montreal was only about 2-3 blocks from the Metro, which was pretty convenient. Staff was pretty helpful the few times I asked them about things. The room was pretty large - it looks just like the photos online (when I saw it online I was convinced the pictures were of a suite, but most regular rooms are actually that enormous!). The beds were super comfortable. The hotel was overall very clean. Since there were 3 elevators I never had to wait long. The smart desk was really cool, though we never made use of it. I also never used the gym and pool, so I can't attest to their quality.
Cons: If you want to spend time in Old Montreal, it's a bit of a hike on foot (though that isn't the hotel's fault). The room could have used more drawer space (there was only 1 drawer available).

Cons: room was cold cold cold even after maintenance came to room twice and said it was remedied. Their green policy switches to AC [in November] and takes room to 64 on thermostat and I suspect it is really less than 64 [18c].they offered to change the room but I had papers all sorted & spread out in work mode and people who were to phone me had room # also, message light flashed continuously front desk alerted in aft, and at nite the young woman just did not would not [could not?] listen or do anything positive.

Pros: The hotel looked much nicer online . The room was clean and the location is just alright.
Cons: The noise was awful you can hear everything in the hall. I could even hear my neighbors phone ringing a ton. The AC units were extremely loud and the water pressure in the bathroom would drop making a hissing/squeaking noise after use. Another pet peeve is no fan in the bathroom and the doors have glass on them so when you turn the light on at night you could potentially be waking up your partner or anyone else with you. The parking garage underground is tight and super low, my Jeep Wrangler almost didn't make the height clearance. Wasn't impressed one bit by this hotel very over rated.

Pros: They worked with us to resolve an issue at check-in
Cons: There were two big issues at check-in even though we had a confirmation email: they did not have us staying the full amount of time and they did not have our king bed. Wendy at the Libby check-in counter said she could not do anything since they were fully booked. We asked do a manger and she went to talk with him and came back with a miracle, she got us the right room and fixed the departure date. Amazing how a hotel can go from fully booked to rooms available, especially since we had a "club room with a kink bed", hmmmm The hope tel rooms are dated, the varnish is flaky king off the furniture and bathroom fixtures. The food is so-so for a hotel of this class... it was not worth the money.

Cons: A day prior to check in date,we stop to inquire about dropping baggage policy and was informed that we had an extra room reserved and Frederick (front desk) contacted Alexia of Kayak trying to cancel wrongly extra room. After their phone conversation,Frederick ASSURED me that the problem had been taken care of. There was another female employee that witness Frederick statement as well as my wife. next day, Saturday May 19, while checking in I was informed that the extra room reservation was NEVER cancelled. Pros: Affordable choice in downtown, and beds are very comfortable. Hotel staff called around for us on Easter Sunday to see which restaurants would be open before sending us out.
Cons: Normally I love the hot tub at this Sheraton. Unfortunately during our stay it was out of order, which is a huge bummer. Not that it will make or break a trip, but when you're deciding between a few hotels in the area at the same price point and allowed that to influence your decision a little, it's a letdown. Also, this is 2015 - who charges for WiFi?

Pros: It was modern, sleek, clean, and comfortable. Can speak French or English. Our King room had a sofa bed and fridge and LOTS of room to move around. Very spacious. Only a small window with no view, but the size of the room made up for it. Comfortable bed, but on the soft side. Had a small gym with TV although a few of the settings on the elliptical and bike didn't work for me. Centrally located between Mont Royal parc and Vieux Montreal where we wanted to walk to. Nothing special about the neighborhood, but it felt safe. Parking options were across the street in a separate uncovered lot or down the street in a covered garage. We chose across the street and it was fine although we had to load out in the rain and there is no cover for the cars, just street parking in front of the hotel. For the price in a big city, we found it more than adequate for the money.

Cons: We had a couple of problems with our room and, while the staff was helpful, they didn't seem too concerned about any of it and didn't take any extra steps to make sure we were statisfied.
"Located in Ville-Marie, this hotel is within a 5-minute walk of The Underground City, Sainte-Catherine Street and Complexe Desjardins. Notre Dame Basilica and Palais des congres de Montreal are also within 10 minutes. Place d'Armes Station is only a 4-minute walk and Saint Laurent Station is 6 minutes. "

Pros: Location - very close to the conference center, easy access to other amenities Staff - very helpful and friendly Breakfast - delicious with a good selection of healthy choices (Fresh fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, toast etc..). My son loved the bunk bed.
Cons: The bed wasn't great - it was easy to feel the springs in the mattress and there wasn't a huge amount of support. I switched rooms the last night and the second was a bit of an improvement mostly because it had a thicker mattress pad. The rooms are small so not suitable for lounging in but it met our needs.

Cons: The room with a queen and pull-out sofa was not large enough to handle the sofa extension. No room for maneuvering.

Cons: Had a room with a bunk bed and the top bed was a bit small and quite firm. Otherwise really enjoyed my stay.
