In Hong kong, I was told the designated smoking area in the terminal was close and the steward encouraged me to go...I almost missed the flight even though I didn't even make it to where she directed me. It was not close, she was a liar. They lost my bags. They kept calling me sir despite my corrections and obvious female anatomy. They had no remorse or apologies for their errors"

Food rather of lousy quality with rice and pork as well as thick noodles with some thick oyster sauce and five rather tiny shrimps. Cold bun and frozen chunk of butter to start on the salad (again some shrimps with glass noodles) and four tiny pieces of watermelon. Red wine served but no white. They were quickly running through the isles with duty free but no one knew what they were selling as no catalogue in seat pocket. Qualified as a good domestic flight - not really of international standard with dirty toilets after an hour of flight time"

I read so many horror stories of random cancellations and other headaches. As long as you know your dates are set in stone and you don’t have to adjust anything (I had no changes) then I think you’ll be perfectly fine! :)"
Cons: "While everything worked out perfectly for me the only draw back for me was just airline logistics, because I purchased through a 3rd party vendor I was unable to check in early. I love having the security of checking in early to avoid the lines and stress at the airport but everything worked out great. I was even able to select which seats I wanted prior to my trip."

Cons: "My issue is not actually China eastern but Kayak! I received messages saying to check in in Taipei at Terminal 1. Well China Eastern is actually in terminal 2! And these mega airports in Asia getting from 1 terminal to another when you don’t speak the language can add an hour! If the flight wasn’t an hour late I would have missed it because of the messages. I have saved those and will be contacting Kayak for some type of reasonable compensation for this terrible error on their part. No message at all would be much better than a message sending me to the wrong place!"

But the gate told us it was definitely canceled even though it was never officially canceled. We flew to Manila instead. They botched our return ticked accidentally booking us home on a flight 3 days later. We were on hold 45 minutes but no one answered when we tried to call so we had to wait at the airport to talk to someone - of course their convenient hours are 2AM - 10AM. When we finally did get a flight, the food was awful, the "vegetarian option" was inedible. The thimble of wine was mean considering there is no alcohol in flight. The snack was a tiny package containing 8 tasteless peanuts. We were reprimanded for getting more water. TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Cons: "Yes the crew was nice, but they seemed to rush around as if there is some sort of emergencies, all the time. They maybe too eager but gave the impression of not calm, sort of made me nervous. The butter came with the dinner rolls are not salted, no taste, very plain. Also they don't have pepper, when I asked for pepper to season my food, there was none. It was like this both ways from LAX to PVG and back."

Pros: "First all, the flight changed to stop at PVG, not Nanjing. When it depatured from PVG to Taipei, inside the airplane was so hot. We talked to flight attences 2 times, still didn't be adjusted. And food was terrible, too. They provided food too late, then they rushed out to clean the food trates. There is no enough time to eat! The experience was so bad with them."

I had to pick up my luggage going out the terminal then go to check in again. I am 82 years old. This is not easy and stressful to me. I asked the supervisor that he could not do any thing. My connecting flight ticket was also from CHINA EASTER AIRLINES. They say the connecting flight was not on the same ticket. However it is from the same airline. I made my flight with great effort. I had hard time to speak to the agent in checking in my flight to LA. THIS IS TOTALLY UNEXPECTED WHEN I PURCHASED THE TICKET. IF I KNEW, I WILL RECONSIDER TO PURCHASE THE TICKET. DO REQUEST YOU RECOGNIZED THE STRESS AND INCONVENIENT YOU PUT YOUR PASSENGER THRU."

Pros: "The crew was very nice.The food was tasty. Water was offered constantly. With a long haul trip like the one we took, it was a welcome relief. The planes are older but fine. Lots of movie choices in English and with subtitles. I encourage watching some of the Chinese action movies. The are fun. I would fly with them again. Someone had a terrible review of Shanghai airport. There is an actual TON of stuff to do. The food we had was good for airport food, not Cat Cora, but not bad either. I had no issue accessing the WiFi or facebook. We also had no problem taking calls through the WiFi service WhatsAp.. I guess life is still what you make of it. Safe travels friends"

Cons: "1. 1+ hour delay and no quick announcement regarding it. When the announcement was made, no time detail with regards to possible wait time of delayed boarding time. 2. Many folks went to China Eastern information to ask questions, the staff was unattentive and rude (would say 'I don't know' and then turn their attention to their phones). 3. No slippers to wear for such a long flight. Eva Air offers slippers and blankets even to their economy class passengers. 4. Could not bring water on to the plane even after having gone through security. No other airlines I traveled with during my entire trip had that policy: Eva Air, Korean Air, Peach, Scoot. 5. When another passenger buzzed a flight attendant, she came and responder with "what do you need?" instead of "How can I help you?" 6. Granted there was some turbulence during thr flight..but the ENTIRE time, seat-belt buckle sign was on...from Shanghai to LAX. That is one LONG flight. People need to get up and stretch their legs. Have no clue if it was bc they just didn't want to deal with the passengers or making announcements or switching on and off the seat-belt sign...but it was on the ENTIRE flight. Overall, terrible. Will not be flying China Eastern again."
