I didn’t want to meal but I did want a bag and it’s a big difference. If you do it online it’s 39 Australian dollars, but if you do it at the airport it’s AU$160. That’s just outrageous and the staff was not helpful at all"

Pros: "Booked these flights though Kayak. Landing from LAX at 0730 at Auckland international terminal and then departing at 0900 from the domestic terminal. This is not enough time, doesn’t allow for customs and immigration. It was a really stressful experience running between terminals with my luggage, as there was less than a 1 hour window after getting through customs and immigration, so the bag drop at international wouldn’t accept them. Got to departure gate 12 minutes before plane departure. You need more time to have a good experience !"

And I saw someone in San Francisco at the ticket counter get a visa and yet I was told I wouldn’t be flying that night as I had forgotten to get a visa. No help at all !! I know I wasn’t the only person that ever got a visa. I was told to call my consulate. Clearly there was a simple way to get a visa and I was so freaked out until I figured it out myself. Set alarm to check-in online exactly 24hrs prior to departure as usual and found my partner and I seated in different seats with no available seats to switch. How can this be on an aircraft this big? Thought we might be able to fix it at the counter next day, we headed to the airport early by 3hrs to sort it out. Maybe it was the end of a long day, our flight was close to midnight... Check-in lady was lovely and all smiles but it went downhill from here... No option to sit together and no offer of an upgrade at the counter or at boarding (we didn't ask). Duty-free collection instructions weren't clear prior to boarding ("board as you will and pick up after") and during boarding the staff member seemed over it ("pick up after boarding"). Wouldn't it be easier to advise over the PA so we don't have to ask or if we have to ask explain something along the lines of "you can collect your duty free from the cart after you scan you ticket, prior to boarding the aircraft". The worst part of our experience was the aircraft itself. The plane was obviously very old and tired. My partner's seat kept reclining and wouldn't stay upright (we didn't complain). Rows were so close together that you could smell the person in front's hair when they reclined their chair fully (which they did for the entirety of the flight) and your eyes feel cross-eyed it was so close. The entertainment system was old - we couldn't choose when to watch our movies and as movies aren't the same duration we missed out on a lot of the movies we did want to watch. Finally the selection of movies could've made up for this downfall but it was incredibly limited in selection for a long haul flight. Not sure if it was us but the flight crew also seemed tired and over it too. Luckily we had sleeping pills so we slept through much of the flight but what we did experience wasn't good at all. V disappointed."

Pros: "Previously took 4 other Air NZ flights on this trip and loved them - great entertainment, very pleasant and helpful crew. The long flight from Fiji back to the US was partnered with Air Fiji and it was just a bit above average compared to our typical experience with Air NZ. The boarding experience was really good and much more organized than most airlines, which was nice. Plenty of bathrooms available, they came around with water frequently, which is a must on these long flghts, and every seat had their own screen for entertainment, which is very nice."
Cons: "Seats were not very comfortable, not much leg room especially for such a long red eye. Movie and TV selection was limited compared to typical Air NZ flights. Half the crew was somewhat unpleasant and overlooked passengers trying to give them trash and even charitable contributions when they were going around collecting specifically those things. (The other half of the crew was the more typically amazing, customer oriented attitude.) Not sure if Air Fiji just over works its crew or what, but it was not as pleasant. The food was also back to typical just ok airplane food, not normal for Air NZ which has great food and lots of it. We also were not able to pick our seats for this flight, which was not ideal for comfort or location."

My husband even took a glass and held it for me while I was snuggled under the blanket. Kudos, crew!!"

Cons: "Missed the flight! I find it ridiculous you do not get a "Check In Online" email from Fiji Airways if you do not book directly through them. That, to me, is insane. All Fiji Airways passengers, whether they booked directly or not, should get that email."

Pros: "Staff was fantastic. I was travelling with my 83 yr old mother and the counter staff couldn't have been more helpful. Very compassionate which was much appreciated. Really made a tough job much easier. I wish I had thought to get all their names. They made the trip...though others throughout the trip were just fantastic--including especially the wheelchair attendants."

Cons: "I was forced to check my carry-on bag because it was too big according to the gate agent. I travel weekly, always carry-on my luggage and I have never been told it needed to be checked. AA had a ticket counter agent that was on a mission because she had a roll away cart parked by the jet way door to collect all the luggage she wouldn't allow on the plane. Very customer unfriendly!"

Cons: "I was first sent to the wrong terminal by a female flight attendant. When I arrived at the other terminal, I had already missed my initial flight, so crying back to terminal 3 another nice lady helped me get on the next flight to chicago and from their I had to take a flight to Philly. This really made me upset as I had nursing classes the next day and I would not reach philly until 8pm that night. On the flight to philly from chicago, the plane ride was decent, the crew was nice, but their was no more over head space and I had to give my carry on for them to put in the back of the plane with the rest of my baggage. The plane was small and I did not expect this flight."

Cons: "Holy moly. You know if you stopped charging extra money for checked baggage you wouldn't have a ridiculously annoying amount of customers with too many bags for overhead storage. Then you wouldn't have to threaten your customers to store their small bags under the seat. Then I would have room for my feet under the seat. When I would have been comfortable. I also wouldn't have to annoy my neighbor with trying to move and get comfortable. But instead the exact opposite happened and I'm offended you guys have America anywhere near your name."
Cons: "the flight did not have charging areas on the plane for phones for the regular seating. also, the seating was much tighter and our arm rest was not functioning. On all the planes going to our destination the accommodations were much different."

Wanted to buy Duty Free and was told that it wasn't loaded either for some reason. The cabin was a bit cool and after 4 hours of cold drinks I was a bit chilled and asked for a blanket only to discover that they only sell them to the passengers. Then I got the giggles as they thanked us for choosing Air Canada voted number one airline in North America. Hilarious!!!"

However, I was still required to present my passport and go through customs, and I'm pretty sure I came out of the plane in a different country than I started in, so I conclude that they are splitting hairs to cheat customers out of a standard service."

Pros: "Wel,l my flight out of SFO was delayed by an hour and ~20 minutes, which was the length of my layover in Toronto. The pilot was able to make up some time in the air, but I still had to go through customs, security, and then run through most of the Toronto airport with only 25 minutes (before my flight left, probably even less because they close the doors before take off). I was off the plane at 7:30. My flight to Charlottetown was on-time, leaving at 7:55. The nicest male flight attendant on the plane moved me to a seat right before first class and put my carry-on in the closet at the front so I could be of the first off the plane! I ran through the airport, customs, security and all. I got to the gate at 7:41. The lady at the gate saw me running from far off and asked if I was Michelle. She was so happy that I had made it and let me catch me breath before I boarded. The delay on the first flight was very unfortunate and stress-inducing, but all the Air Canada people I interacted with along the way were very wonderful."

There was a couple that was throwing a fit that they weren't sitting together in my husband's aisle. The water they provided came from a pitcher and not a bottle and it tasted nasty. I did ask for hot tea on one of the flights and was told they had nothing hot. My tray table was dirty. Sticky stuff on the buckle of the seatbelt. Used plastic cup by my seat when boarding."
