This is not enough time, doesn’t allow for customs and immigration. It was a really stressful experience running between terminals with my luggage, as there was less than a 1 hour window after getting through customs and immigration, so the bag drop at international wouldn’t accept them. Got to departure gate 12 minutes before plane departure. You need more time to have a good experience !"

We phoned the booing site, we phoned Virgin, we were put on hold for 25 mins while the booking site phoned Virgin - but Virgin refused to help us out! My husband was not able to board the flight - no refund, no help - and the sad part was, it wasn't for a holiday - it was to visit and help his 87yr old father-in-law who had fallen and cracked his spine. No sympathy from Virgin, VERY DISAPPOINTED!"

In economy, without that, nothing would have made the trip bearable. That said, the food was good, the entertainment options good, and the after hours water/liquid/snack options were quite good."

The skycam was the best part of the entertainment interface options, giving you an outside view of the plane at all times from a camera at the top of the plane tail. Watching the plane during its descent and landing was very cool."
Cons: "I’ve flown in tight-spaced economy seats before, but the lack of space to even bend over to reach items on the floor was extreme on this plane and unacceptable for a 15+ hour flight. It truly felt like a straightjacket. Serious acrobatics were required to reach items on the floor. The tray table would also fly down on its own, the lever holding it would slide free while I was sleeping. There was no wifi at all, not even for using the qantas apps. My fiancé flew on Virgin the week before and was able to purchase wifi and stay in touch with me for $19 for the duration of the flight. Even my flight earlier this year with Qantas on the Dreamliner lacked usable wifi, but the experience of the Dreamliner plane itself was wonderful. In addition, the usb ports on the end of the armrests weren’t working. I feel it should be part of the safety briefing to point out where the usable power points are, given how vital charged phones are these days for boarding passes, reaching loved ones and entertainment when the wifi isn’t working. I didn’t realize there was a plug for laptops/ block plugs until I asked about the USB ports not working until the last 2 hours of the flight. The location of that was somewhere few would notice or look if not explicitly told. This will be the last time I ever book with Qantas when an a380 model is involved, unless great overhauls and updates are completed. Economy should not lack basic ergonomic comforts and while I’ve spent years touting my love for Qantas, having had wonderful experiences in the past, this one fell far below what I had come to expect from the Qantas name."

The Qantas staff was able to re-arrange our seats together for the long flight over the Pacific. We also got to celebrate New Year's twice, since we crossed the International Dateline."
Cons: "I was not a fan of the A380 prior to my flight, and was even less of a fan after. The boarding in Melbourne was chaotic- for some unexplained reason, Qantas felt the need to quarantine the seating area around the gate. This led to a minor stampede as all 5,000 passengers thought the flight was boarding. The Qantas staff at Melbourne, from the check-in desks, to the boarding crew were all apparently over-whelmed. It wasn't any better upon arrival at LAX- the baggage area was chaos as our arrival apparently caught the LAX baggage handlers by surprise. I had a four-hour layover in LAX, yet still managed to miss my connecting flight after an excessive delay getting our checked bags, the line through customs, and rechecking in through the TSA - and that was WITH an expedited screening pass."

I talked to 7 different people in all corners of Sydney airport and no one knew what to do with me. My attempts to call Fiji Airways from my cell phone and then a landline at the airport didn't go through so I ended up messaging a friend in the States and she was able to call and get me booked on a NZ Air flight to Auckland that left the next morning. Both Jetstar and NZ Air gave me different information on what paperwork I needed and what my baggage and carry-on allowance was, which was frustrating. I finally arrived in Auckland 26 hours later than scheduled. I understand the cyclone cancelling the Fiji flights but the rescheduling error caused some significant expenses and a great deal of hassle."

Cons: "Drastically different bag weight requirements than my connecting flight meant I had to shuffle everything around to meet the carry-on limits, then pay $100+ as my check bag went up two levels. Even anticipating this, it still cost double what I was expecting; must have been the difference between advance payment and day-of rates, but the degree of difference in cost left me feeling swindled."

Cons: "Some policies were not made clear before I arrived to check in. No skateboards as a carry-on. I’ve never had a problem before until Jetstar. Also they overcharged me by $50 to process my visa application before I was allowed to check in. The visa cost $20, Jetstar charged me $70 and would not allow me to apply for the visa on my own at the time of check-in."

Pros: "Once we were seated and lift off was timely the flight uneventful as one can only hope for. The food was not outstanding but the chicken salad was better than most airline food and was a nice portion to tide us over for a long day after landing."
Cons: "The staff was lacking in personality and consideration. While well groomed and that plastered on smile was there the actual attention was missing the mark. I went to use the toilet before the flight and stood for several minutes waiting as the occupied sign was engaged. I was passed by staff three times before informed that the toilet is unvaivable until in the air. Really! So why did you squeeze past me 3 times without telling me this detail?"

Cons: "The pilot was an idiot and did not inform the airport of our arrival. We had to sit on the tarmac for 30 minutes in 35 degree heat waiting to get off the plane."
Pros: "Jetstar offers cheap flights and if you check in early enough, you can often get your preferred seat. Great option for small people (height wise!) who want to travel light."
Cons: "There’s always a risk involved when booking with jetstar. I’ve gotten lucky so far with no cancellations and some very kind flight attendants, but you really never know. There is no standard of service. You need to know that EVERYTHING costs extra so traveling light is of the utmost importance."
Pros: "I'm a regular flyer, and can't count how often I've been on planes. This was the best, smoothest and least stressful of any shirt hop I've ever taken, and while it can't rival a big plane for food or entertainment, the seats were cozy, I had legroom and it was simply very well done!!"

Pros: "I honestly can't think of a single thing I liked about this flight, but if pressed, perhaps I enjoyed the staff in Honolulu during check in. The rest was horrible. Hated it all."
Cons: "Absolutely horrible. This airline is truly the Greyhound of the sky. There was an absurd amount of families on this flight with really young screaming, ill-behaved children and their indifferent parents. The flight attendants were equally indifferent and unhelpful. You get absolutely nothing for free - everything cost - food, blankets, pillows, etc. on this 10 hour flight. AND when water was requested, it was a small, mouthwash size cup with a note, that "we charge for water." $4. Wow. Probably one of the worst experiences in the air ever. I won't be back. The price was stellar, but after paying for seats, luggage and enduring the people on the flight, I'd prefer to pay more and get A LOT MORE from an airline like Virgin Australia. If you're cutting corners and trying to save money, save yourself and your sanity and spend a little more on quality airline."
Cons: "Felt totally scammed by their baggage policy. Did not realize you have to pay for baggage in advance (which was a bit tricky since I didn't know how much my bags would weigh at the time of purchase) and was forced to pay nearly $1000 d For bags at the gate. Absurd!"

Cons: "Spent almost 200 dollars for baggage and seating. They lost my luggage and it took 3 days to get it back, finally. On my flight back they messed up my seat. I booked an aisle seat and got something right in the middle. When I told them I payed for seating they told me that you can pay for it but they still don't guarantee that you get the seat. Why exactly do I spent money on seating then? I'll never fly jetstar again."

Cons: "Jet star counter at Melbourne has the WORST customer service I've ever encountered. Literally 3 employees standing around chatting while I'm trying to find someone to help with my passport not reading. Then standing at another counter waiting to be helped while being completely ignored. I understand when you're busy (even though he didn't seem busy) but at least acknowledging my presence would've been lovely. Also- baggage fees for this airline should be criminal."

Way to nickel and dime and jeopardize our health with bacteria filled water that is not in a sealed bottle."

Cons: "NO legroom in standard seats. I'm 6' tall and my knees touched the seat in front of me when seated all the way back in the seat. Closest spaced seating I've seen on an airline."
Cons: "Communication of luggage restrictions was not communicated by Kayak and the customer care from Jet Star provided inaccurate communication regarding luggage restriction. We had to ship 2 of our luggage with another carrier. When we arrived at the airport, we saw others with large luggage that the customer care indicated was not allowed on the flight. Crew was not friendly - rude. A nine hour flight should provide food and drinks - complimentary. At the very least water should be provided. Boarding - they did not open the lounge area so everybody was sitting on the floor for a long period of time. Seating - crammed (narrow and we are small) Charge for entertainment - we were charged in advance for entertainment and then they provided free to all passengers - no mention of a refund for those that were incorrectly charged."

Pros: "This was my first time flying with Jetstar long distance. The experience was much better than my low expectations. It may have been partly because the seat next to me was empty so cramped seats were not a problem. The plane was the modern Dreamliner and the entertainment system kept me entertained."

Cons: "I will never fly this airline again!!! I have flown to Sydney from the U.S. at least 7 or 8 different times and have NEVER been treated so poorly! This was a 10 hour flight and the flight attendants wouldn't even give you water!!! You had to pay $4 a bottle!! That is utterly ridiculous! I just got off an amazing domestic flight with Delta on only a 5 hour flight and they gave us FREE unlimited soft drinks, juice, coffee, tea and WATER!!! They also gave nuts, pretzels and cookies and we're kind enough to give my 3 children extra. Also, to our wonderful surprise their inflight entertainment was free as well! I PAID for inflight entertainment on Jetstar & my TV barely worked! The food was horrendous and ridiculously expensive! When I asked if I could have a cup of water, the flight attendant on Jet star told me to go to the back of the plane and get it myself!!!!! Are you serious??? I went to get it myself and then got yelled at by another flight attendant who told me, " you're not allowed back here!" Get your stories straight Jetstar ugh attendants - or how about you give your passengers FREE water on their 10 hour flight!! Because I had to get the water myself, I then got trapped in the back of the plane because ALL the flight attendants were in the isles for 30 minutes taking the entire planes drink orders & everyone had to pay by credit card! When they weren't in the isles being cashiers, they are found sleeping in the back and knitting! Really? This what I paid for- to watch them sleep & knit??? And me or my family (3 children) couldn't even get water or decent food? Thanks for nothing Jetstar!!! Never again!"

Cons: "I was not allowed to recline my chair. The passenger behind me demanded a crew member to tell me to put my chair all the way up so I was not able to sleep. And after my already 30 hours of travel I was pretty irritated. There was no free entertainment, which I think is pretty cheap of Jetstar for a flight of that length. The flight was also delayed for two and a half hours and we were never actually given a reason. I also believe that the bag charges are pretty outrageous. The expectation of zero kilograms is extremely unreasonable."

Cons: "Had to buy something for Christmas last minute and went to include it on my reservation and I couldn't add it so I wait to pay at the counter. Just for a little duffle bag to check in was $160 USD....I was running late because there was a que at the customer service desk of people lining up to pay $160 for any check in bag. These pigs were more worried about their $160 then getting us to our gate on time so they gave us gold lane stamps. I only had 30mins before boarding and they didn't give a rat that I was still on the line to pay $160, they needed their $160 more than me making it to my flight. I had to run to tsa and run to the gate...it was quite a way too to gate 30 at HNL. I was trenched and barely made it, my legs were sore when I was on my flight to Sydney from running. There was a couple that was behind me on the que line and I never saw them on the plane or when we got off in Sydney, I don't think they made it."
