Pros: "Agents went above and beyond to help. Wish I had names because I was REAL impressed at how much they helped to get our bags checked. My son had purchased my ticket and not bought luggage voucher. They helped me get online and buy voucher. Would recommend airline to anyone traveling in that part of world."

Cons: "We had a flight bought on virgin Australia and operated with air New Zealand. The air New Zealand part was all great plane boarding etc, the horrible part is that we bought baggage allowances with virgin and they never transferred the information to air New Zealand. So there I am from the USA in a foreign country boarding a flight being asked to pay 500 nz dollars for a few kilos when I had already paid for it. Having to produce emails and payment information on something I had done months in advance. Overall I won’t recommend virgin next time I’d book directly with air New Zealand"

Pros: "We fly a lot and have flown American, European, Asian airlines but this has to be the best experienxe ever. First, their checkin is all automated, even baggage. That makes the lines really short. Their staff standing by to help at every moment. When we used another airline in Australia Jetstar, we waited in line for one hour and then were scolded for being late! We even had to pay for our water and the staff took turn scolding us over our overhead bin stuff. Boarding of NZ airline was so comfortable, without pushing or crowds. Staff always welcoming you with a smile. Seats are wide and we were given free drinks, free headohones, and wait for it.... free dinner! And all served so politey and in the most gracious manner as if we were their guests. We were so taken back by their service and this was the aecond time we have flown with them in 10 days. My young daughter thought may be their staff gets paid more so they seem to be so much more happy. I also think that there is something when you dehumanize your customers by charging them for water and being uncaring to their needs. The staff also starts to treat the customers as cattle. Besides Southwest Airlines, I havent come across one another airline where the staff treat their custmoers with reapect while charging them for water. So airlines, take note. I would pay $50 per ticket extra just to be in NZ airline."

Cons: "I selected two bags on kayak but when I checked in at Air New Zealand they said I just had tickets. Was forced to pay the full price for the baggage."
Cons: "Boarding is an issue. Please have more staff in the early stages of boarding to make sure people go to the correct lines . It's not immediately obvious and leads to frustration . I wasn't too bothered as I worked it out quickly but I could hear many others expressing their frustration around me . I was disappointed in the movie selection. I wanted more new release movies to choose from . Cabin crew friendly and polite . Love the wine ! Put up with being cramped .. would love more leg room but overall very happy ! Thank You everyone involved !"
Cons: "I double booked the flight on Nov 27 to Sydney from Queenstown through Kayak while I had another flight booked on the same date to Christchurch from Auckland for the same 2 people and Kayak did not warn me that I had already booked the flight on the 27th. It was my fault but I would appreciate if Kayak warned me. Otherwise all is good. Thanks"
Cons: "Paid for business class so I could Relax and sleep on the 10+ hour flight. Unfortunately, I was in seat 1G which was adjacent to the galley and storage compartments for the flight crew. Literally, every 15 minutes, someone in the flight crew was bumping my seat/bed - and waking me up. Never once got an apology. So pissed off I paid extra for business class when I would've gotten more sleep in a middle seat in coach."

Cons: "Air NZ website states exit row seating purchase comes with priority boarding. When I asked about this at the gate counter I was told I would be seated by row number. Seems like this is a common issue with Air NZ - see e.g., skytrax website reviews. The website advertising is inaccurate if not false."

Pros: "Significantly more leg room than other competitors! Even with the person's chair reclined in front of me, I was still able to be comfortable. The staff were excellent, the food was as good as can be (given that it is airline food), the choices for entertainment were great. Lots of overhead storage!"
Cons: "Some of the screens need to be refurbished. The person in the seat behind me had to jab at their screen to make it work (or perhaps they were too lazy to be conscientious?). Mine worked fine but I had to be very cognizant to leave my finger on the screen rather than poke."
Cons: "Can't check in online with a VA per locator. You need an ANZ ONE. You have to call VA and forcefully ask for it. VA totally unhelpful. And when you get the ANZ number, they charge you to book a seat. Any seat."

Cons: "You had to pay for 3/4ths of the movies and shows. Kayak didn't specify whether I had a checked bag or not so when I got to the airport I had to fork over $120! I had no choice because I'm not going to leave my luggage behind. I was not pleased with this third party booking."
Pros: "the crew were awesome, the food okay, it's the first time I've been able to say exellent to flying with air new Zealand today, the past trips have been stinkers, there crew really bad, they put us off flying with my own country's airline so sad, the first leg was cancelled because the flight got in late, with no txt or any warning before we got to the gate, so maybe we will just try them again, because this last trip from Christchurch has eased some of the past pain"

Cons: "They were rude to us economy passengers. Apparently unless you pay ridiculous money for first class you get treated like garbage. Even though my ticket said I had one free bag to check the rip off artists at United charged me 150 for one bag under the size and weight limit."

Cons: "The seats were unbelievably tight for a flight of this duration. I'm small. We purchased the economy plus seats hoping that there would be a bit more room. There wasn't, so it was a waste of $100 each way for the two of us. We had much more leg room on our US domestic flight. Flight attendants don't appear to like their jobs very much. They were overly stern and impatient with passengers. Reminded me of the nuns in Catholic school growing up. Do they have any idea how uncomfortable the passengers are when we are packed in like sardines? Finally, the food isn't anything like they described and they served diet portions it seemed. I'm at a loss for why this airline was rated so highly"

Cons: "Seats are unbelievably cramped. Not enough legroom or cargo room under the seats. It seems they put more seats in than the aircraft was meant to have. Made experience of 10 hour flight much more difficult."
Pros: "I absolutely adored Air New Zealand. The airplane itself was a ball of fun with its purple lights. The flight crew was funny and charming, and quite attentive to people who wanted snacks and beverages. Great selection of movies."
Cons: "I hated that it costs $150 for an extra (2nd) checked in luggage. If you are flying international, typically you get 2 free checked in luggages. This caught me by surprise, and I wish it was brought to my attention before I went to the airport. The seats were okay, didn't recline as much as I would've liked. But overall I enjoyed my ANZ flight."

Cons: "I had requested a vegetarian meal and was not given one. And even if there was an error in me requesting a vegetarian meal they should be stocked with extra."
