Shortly after we finally boarded I got a text saying our connecting flight from Christchurch to Dunedin was cancelled. So, we were flown to Christchurch & given hotel accommodations for the night, only to be flown BACK the next day to Wellington to catch a flight to Dunedin. All in all quite infuriating."

The in-cabin crew were ok, but not very friendly and did not go out of their way for anything. We were in the last row of seats and they did not recline, very uncomfortable. The only food we got was purchased (at an inflated price). There was NO entertainment on the cross country flight at all. A very marked difference from the international Air New Zealand flights that are flown by Air New Zealand. This flight was like a Greyhound Bus."

I know I wasn’t the only person that ever got a visa. I was told to call my consulate. Clearly there was a simple way to get a visa and I was so freaked out until I figured it out myself. The flight we were re-booked on was also delayed for mechanical/paperwork issues so we arrived back home in NYC 8 hours later than originally scheduled. This caused us to spend more money on a taxi since it was too late to take public transportation. it also made it difficult to settle back in at home because both my husband and I had to get up early for work the next day and we missed several hours of unpacking and cooking time we would have had had our flight not been delayed."

JetStar recommended booking through their site - so you are sure to purchase the correct amount of kilos for the luggage and no surprises at airport - very very expensive!!!"
Cons: "Absolutely nothing on the plane - water. Luckily it was a short flight. Everything is available for sale. This is a very stripped down flight - so be prepared to pay for any sort of add on. Which is okay, if you are prepared for that. Also - when you buy your ticket that is basically just for you (your physical body and a carry on) to get on the plane. And they have strict weight guidelines with the carry-ons to adhere to as well. If you are checking bags - know the weight you are checking - they are not concerned with the number of bags - it's the overall weight of everything you are checking. Amount of checked bags is an additional cost to the ticket mentioned above. All to be considered to be sure you and your bags/belongings get on the plane."

One of the passengers were not able to travel and ticket was complete lost , where as the inbound flight on Qantas gave us credit for the future. In the end , the total cost ends up close to other airlines with all the discomfort on the flight free."
