Plane was late and caused me to miss my return ferry crossing with my vehicle I was bringing to timaru

So here's the rub - my flight was booked through Chatdeal even though I bought it under the Kayak umbrella. All the return flights were theoretically through Air New Zealand, however except for the initial leg from New Zealand, they were all partnered flights. So when I arrived at the airport in New Zealand they could only issue me my ticket to Fiji. Once in Fiji I had to do some serious leg work and finagling to get my ticket to Los Angeles through Fiji Air. This included a monitored covid RAT that I wasn't aware I needed to do. So I gave the score I did because of the complexity and annoyance created in the process of getting a boarding pass for my Nadi-LA flight.

Pros: "This flight was on the 777-300 plane leased from EVA. Boarding proved to be a bit of a slow grind due to the inordinate number of families with children on this particular flight. Our fault for not realising this at time of booking. Flight itself went very smoothly. Seats were fine. Not a huge selection of movies to choose from. Felt the crew went about their duties without fuss and ticked all the boxes for me."

Two other fellow travelers booked flight VA 7516 through Expedia for $218 (USD) one-way. I was able to open the same flight / departure time / price with Expedia but could not book. I then switched to Kayak and located this same flight (as I wanted to travel together with them), and it was for approximately same price. Upon check-in I was told it would cost $120 to check my luggage in (which I reluctantly paid). They indicated my ticket did not include this. I later discussed this with my two travelers and their check-in luggage plus a meal were included with their Expedia (Virgin Australia) ticket. Why was my Kayak (Virgin Australia) ticket so different from Expedia when our bookings were done about the same time? I no longer trust Kayak for future bookings."

I paid extra for a more leg room seat however, my seat didn’t recline. It was a full flight so I was cramped up for the whole 3 hours. Also they delayed the flight by an hour just to locate a couple of passengers, unload and reload their bags. There were mothers with babies and I found that unfair to have delayed a flight for some careless passengers.

This made me uneasy from the very beginning that I would lose my London-Luxembourg flight. The crew in the boarding gate, only after much insisting, said they would make a note so that someone from Qantas would wait for me and help me get my London-Luxembourg flight no problem, but in the next stopovers (Melbourne, Dubai), there was no sign of this. Also, the delay in the end was 2h 20 min - and I lost my flight to Luxembourg."

Pros: "I was excited to come back to the USA after a long vacation. When we arrived at the airport, the security started asking me questions immediately even before I checked in. They demanded I show them the ticket before it was even printed. When I explained that I was trying to check-in for the first time. They told me I was going to be reviewed upstairs and put a sticker in my passport. I proceeded to check in and just walked thru the normal security measures. After scanning my bags in security, I discovered there was no security meeting and proceeded to my gate. After the gate, everyone in line was subjected to a second security screen. This was a manual search and all articles were removed and repacked again. Then we proceeded to the plane entry where everyone needed to verify passport and ticket again. Later in the flight, I was having indigestion problem from my documented medical acid reflux problem and asked for a cup of water. He said sure and walked away. He never came back again.10 minutes later, I pressed the attendant call button again. 10 minutes later and no one came over. 15 minutes after that Albert came back over and said, "I see you have your call light on, please put your seat back up again." I can complied and he immediately turned off the light and walked away. 10 minutes later, Albert came by with the water cart and parked it right behind my seat. He proceeded to hand out water to everyone behind my seat. 30 minutes later the water cart arrived and I finally received my water (75 minutes after I asked!) Thanks Albert, I'll be following up with your management to see that disciplinary action is taken."

The customer service rep basically told us there was nothing she could do since we had to go thru customs. Will never fly this airline again. Fly to New Zealand previously on Air New Zealand and will use them in future. Price difference is not worth the service deficiencies."

Ended up flying later,, longer and much more uncomfortable than expected. F Had to take separate seats from family and middle seats, had to spend entire day in Sydney which required us to spend money on a visa and money to eat, had additional stress of then arriving too late and needing to rebook rental car and arranged hotel and make sure elederly parents with special needs were ok health wise. An overall disaster. Never ever a worse experience and I am a world traveler to 68 countries on 6 continents. Cons: "Flight canceled. Fiji airways told us we would be booked on Qantas instead but the flight wouldn't give us time to make the connection. Ended up flying later,, longer and much more uncomfortable than expected. Had to take separate seats from family and middle seats, had to spend entire day in Sydney which required us to spend money on a visa and money to eat, had additional stress of then arriving too late and needing to rebook rental car and arranged hotel and make sure elederly parents with special needs were ok health wise. An overall disaster. Never ever a worse experience and I am a world traveler to 68 countries on 6 continents. Will be asking Fiji for full refund plus compensation for having to buy visas and spend day in Sydney."
Pros: "Entertainment was awesome!"
Cons: "Leg room I paid for actually feels like room on my normal domestic flights. Need more 'leg room'. The food is so processed, it's beyond horrible. It was not edible to me. Boarding was chaotic and unorganized. Too cold on the plane."
Pros: "The meal was nice and the crew was pleasant. The flight was relatively smooth and there were no mix-up or problems with my luggage after the initial issue of having to pay to check in my carry-on due to being overweight."
Cons: "Cramped seating a bit much for such a long flight. The attendants were a little slow to pick up the rubbish from snacks, drinks and meals."
Pros: "FLIGHT CREW ON PLANE ARE ALL SO POLITE HELPFUL. FOOD WAS GREAT."
Cons: "AND HAD TO WAIT WHILE ME AND MY BROTHER SEARCHED FOR ONE. EACH TIME WE BOARDED A FLIGHT WE WERE TOLD THAT IT Won't HAPPEN AGAIN AND IT DID IN LAX NADI AND TONGA. IF MY MOM HAD GONE ALONE WHO KNOW WHERE SHE WOULD BE. HANDICAP AND WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE CUSTOMERS SHOULD REALLY BE TAKEN CARE OF BECAUSE THEY CANNOT DO MUCH."
