Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Crew was nice."
Cons: "Ordered a vegan meal for flight companion pre-flight; we *both* received a vegan meal (it seems like people with incompatible diets cannot book their flights together). Flight seemed to have run out meals since a random third person in my row requested an extra meal and was told they were out. Flight etiquette of other passengers would have been nice; for example, it was also fairly unsafe for a father and child to keep walking up and down the aisles, let alone the bumping into people they kept doing."
Pros: "The employees of Air New Zealand always make our trips excellent."
Cons: "I always have trouble hearing the announcements in the waiting areas at the airports. Why can't they (airports) fix that."
Cons: "Please have the option to order Kosher meal!! The 1st air company that I use, that don’t offer this basic service!! Ridiculous!!"
Pros: "Only a 25 minute flight"
Cons: "Nothing really."
Pros: "Good quick flight"
Pros: "Crew was okay. Nothing special but not bad."
Cons: "The WiFi didn’t work! Don’t advertise it if it is not working. Even setting it up is far too much work/confusing."
Pros: "Staff friendly and helpful"
Cons: "My seat 57E could not be adjusted but half way through the flight was given another seat and managed to get some sleep. In our experience Air New Zealand is tops."
Pros: "Great crew. Wine and cheese was nice."
Cons: "Nothing. All good."
Pros: "The economy seats are pretty comfy considering so many other airlines, however it does make it a bit difficult to eat with a knife and fork at meal times. But the idea of a recliner seat is great! Decent in-flight entertainment."
Cons: "Maybe a little more space to be able to eat a little comfortably would help. But I can understand that it's an infrastructural change that might not be possible."
Pros: "Nice, short flight. Smooth ride."
Cons: "Had a middle seat between two very large women. Couldn't be helped, was a full flight."
Pros: "Amazing crew"
Pros: "As I was in premium economy it was of course amazing, however it was a very packed premium compared to my previous experience so wasn’t as comfortable but still amazing."
Cons: "The selection of movies currently was a bit lacking."
Pros: "Ground staff were particularly helpful"
Pros: "This is an overnight red eye flight. There is not much to interact with crew or service. It is simply long with attempts to sleep."
Pros: "I was disappointed that Air New Zealand charges US15 to reserve specific seats. For our party of 3, that would be US90 RT so I didn't do it. But at the gate I asked for window seats and the attendant gave us excellent seats at the front of the plane."
Cons: "No issues that caused us any problems."
Pros: "yes amazing crew! thank you so much!"
Cons: "perfect already!"
Pros: "food and crew service"
Cons: "Business class Seats are uncomfortable, cushion is not that soft, sides are narrow and too tall, hard square arm rest on the right, drink tray is behind your shoulder, hard to fasten seat belt. Ride was very rough in both directions. Not worth the price paid."
Pros: "This flight was on the 777-300 plane leased from EVA. Boarding proved to be a bit of a slow grind due to the inordinate number of families with children on this particular flight. Our fault for not realising this at time of booking. Flight itself went very smoothly. Seats were fine. Not a huge selection of movies to choose from. Felt the crew went about their duties without fuss and ticked all the boxes for me."
Pros: "Please read notes above -"
Pros: "Entertainment was great, food was great, and the overall flight experience was better than the first time travelling this airline. Airhosts/esses we’re very polite as well. Would try it again soon!"
Cons: "Airhosts/esses took a long time to pick up our trays after our meal."
Pros: "We made it to Christchurch safely and on time."
Cons: "We were charged $120 per checked bag. We couldn’t check in online, so we couldn’t pre-pay at the lower rate. Felt a lot like fraud, honestly."
Pros: "The crew were pleasant and professional, and the aircraft was in excellent condition."
Cons: "Boarding through the rear door during the rain -- with an elderly couple ahead who had problems negotiating the stairs, leaving them and all behind them in the rain. The airline could have allowed everyone to board through the airbridge in light of the weather."
Pros: "Free drinks and snacks"
Cons: "The meal choices were chicken curry or beef on this flight. They ran out of beef quickly. Why would you serve something like curry on an airplane that’s not at all agreeable to at least half the people on the plane and then force the rest of us to eat it when you run out of the other option? My seat recliner was broken so I got to sit straight up for 12 hours."
Pros: "The flight was good. The plane is very nice. The in-flight entertainment was good, but you have to pay for most shows/movies. The flight attendants were very nice. The landing was a bit rough. The plane kind of swayed/slide down the runway. But it was raining so it was understandable."
Cons: "Snacks aren't free. They ran out of food before they got to the back section of the plane. Most of the in-flight entertainment is not free."
Pros: "The actual flight wasn’t terrible"
Cons: "I missed my initial flight...I was short on time and rushed to get to the gate so I didn’t recheck my bag. Got there and told they moved me because my bag hadn’t been checked."
Pros: "Suggest boarding with electronic board !"
Pros: "No security on this regional flight; made it simple to board. Very quiet for a turboprop aircraft. Boarding was delayed and not well announced."
Pros: "Clean modern plane, on-time, nice Regional lounge"
Pros: "Window seat liked it"
Cons: "About baggage didnt liked it... And no food too we didnt came across these to book it while booking tickets .. And passport recognization in sydney troubled a lot us for re checking and identification of our faces to passport ...it was irritating as if we r some wrong we did ..passport photo was without usage or somehow it was like dat not clear picture of us... Maybe due to moist it was like dat...no one was listening to us and made us to wait for long time ."
Pros: "Friendly team on board"
Pros: "Was a huge help when my connecting flights didn’t link up due to flight delay, I was so stressed but every single person with air nz helped to make it as easy as possible and were so friendly!"
Cons: "Nothing at all!"
Pros: "Awesome customer service, I was impressed."
Pros: "Air New Zealand check-in as well as counter personnel were professional and courteous."
Cons: "Booked through Kayak with what I thought was an equivalent Expedia ticket but was horrible surprised when I checked-in. Two other fellow travelers booked flight VA 7516 through Expedia for $218 (USD) one-way. I was able to open the same flight / departure time / price with Expedia but could not book. I then switched to Kayak and located this same flight (as I wanted to travel together with them), and it was for approximately same price. Upon check-in I was told it would cost $120 to check my luggage in (which I reluctantly paid). They indicated my ticket did not include this. I later discussed this with my two travelers and their check-in luggage plus a meal were included with their Expedia (Virgin Australia) ticket. Why was my Kayak (Virgin Australia) ticket so different from Expedia when our bookings were done about the same time? I no longer trust Kayak for future bookings."
Pros: "Smooth operation once onboard"
Cons: "Boarding sequence mix-up"
Pros: "Flight was delayed due to A/C difficulties, But no big worry for me. I had no other flight to catch in Wellington."
Cons: "Captain's sense of humor."
Pros: "On time, great customer service, the in flight entertainment is amazing! Even the food tastes good! Seats were comfortable, toilets and plane were clean, all around amazing."
Cons: "Nothing, it was perfect."
Cons: "Bulkhead seating terrible for long haul flight"
Pros: "Cabin crew was excellent"
Cons: "No complaints"
Pros: "Not a problem, anywhere. For a long day, that is appreciated."
Pros: "The space sllocated is grossly inadequate security is overcrowed Dave not aware of poor image this gives thr city that of a rural enclave"
Cons: "Ovetcrowed no space"
Cons: "Only issue was demand of passenger behind me that I not recline my seat back. I complied and chose not to bring it to crew's attention but was unable to travel comfortably for last leg of our 20+ hour trip."
Pros: "Free cookie!"
Pros: "They put me on a flight to Auckland and then a flight to Wellington"
Cons: "Well I didn't even get on this flight because the plane haven't even left wellington when it was supposed to have been boarding in Sydney had to get two different flights"
