Air Canada is quite literally the WORST airline.unfortunately if you want to travel within or to to Canada you are pretty much forced to use this airline. Their flights are always delayed at least by an hour or more. In the last 5 years, I’ve probably had 2 successful flights. Other than that they lose your bag or delay your flights every single time. This last flight I booked was delayed TWO hours due to operational reasons, which can consist from many things. I do want to be safe but every single time this happens and idk what this is saying about their planes. Air Canada rouge planes are old. The seats are falling apart and are so close together that even I as someone who stands at 4’10 feels squished. and they can’t even upgrade their planes to have in flight entertainment in their seats. They do offer it if you have a phone or laptop to use. They don’t offer even a pretzel. Please if you can avoid air Canada I highly suggest you do so. It pains me every time that I have to give so much money to this airline because it is so hard to find other flights.

Direct flight is the only plus. Otherwise food is poor quality and the bags took forever to arrive in Toronto. They were fast in Delhi airport though.

Pros: "The customer service phone number was impossible to get through on in order to take to someone within 24 hours of my flight in order to make my Special Meals request as I have Celiac's Disease. I was unable to make this selection at booking as when you book through a third party like Expedia, which I did, you cannot access the same internal tools required to make that selection. You can ONLY then call once you have checked in before the flight in order to let the airline know of your Special Meal needs. This is not only a terrible policy as it undercuts those who ARE ultimately still buying tickets to their airline, and that the airline is CHOOSING to sell. It provided me with an extremely subpar experience of the airline but left up to the last minute with doubts about my ability to board a 13 he international flight without the reassurance that I would have ANY meals aboard and no other options should that be the case. Right before my flight departed I was reassured that the information we had requested Expedia relay to the airline internally the day before, who we called when we couldn't get through to the airline, WAS able to convey this Special Meal request and I was going to have food on the flight, so I then did not purchase a bunch of snacks in the airport to have as options. The first meal in, no Special Meal was provided and I had to explain then entire situation all over again. They assured me they would figure it out and get me taken care of. However, no one who assisted me conveyed this to anyone else on the flight and every time food was dispersed, same situation. This was stressful and exhausting and the options provided me were modified to be gluten free, such as an entire plate of fruit for my snack, instead of the protein heavy snack everyone else received, because there truly wasn't extra for that type of dietary restriction. This was stressful and I was very hungry on the flight. One of the attendants got me a few chunks of cheese from first class, but otherwise, it wasn't great. I would advise travelers with Special Meal requests NOT to fly with AirCanada."

Cons: "Air Canada, whose flight this was, was understaffed and disorganized in Milan. No kiosks for self service, no identification of which line to wait in for what, lines spilling over into common area with >100 people and their luggage waiting. Waited almost an hour just to get a boarding pass."

Pros: "They seemed like a good airline. It was my first time flying with them, and I got upgraded to business class on the very first flight of my trip. What a great first impression! They're quite service oriented, with attendants speaking multiple languages. The in-flight magazine was good but not available on every plane. The food was usually pretty good, and the live map was convenient."
Cons: "All of the flights were late (I had 6 of them on this trip, all thru Air Canada, and not a single one departed on time). All of my layovers were long, except one, which was planned to be about an hour but ended up being less than 30min. That one was a pain: had to go through Canadian customs and then run across the Toronto airport, but thankfully my next flight was still boarding - and ended up running late because they had to de-ice the plane. One of the flights ran late, and as we were reaching the gate a passenger felt the need to yell racist/ignorant comments at a fellow passenger who wouldn't sit down, and then the flight attendant - overall that was a real shame."

Cons: "Total commotion at gate. Two flights jammed into one small gate area. Rep was surly and embarrased many who were confused in the commotion and ynclear communication from the boarding agent. Tv didnt work for 4 hrs."

Cons: "I always fly Air Canada but I guess I wasn't aware that Air Canada Rouge was a completely different species. No entertainment at all. When we got on the plane, the sun was shining through the window & floating in the air was a mind-boggling amount of dust, feathers, etc.. flying all around... like the air was completely FILLED with them.. you couldn't get a breath of oxygen. This irritated my respiratory system immensely. They also had children helping out the flight attendants which was cute, until the one girl who had just served water to the entire plane broke out into an awful fever. They were putting ice packs on her head, giving her meds, & eventually she had to get carried through the airport. This was 5 minutes after serving water to an entire plane of passengers. I ended up getting extremely sick & missed almost a week of work. Not sure if this was the cause, but it makes sense. I will make sure 100% to never fly air canada rouge again. For $400 a ticket... doesn't make sense to experience this."
Cons: "Approx 2 weeks after booking, my flight was cancelled and rescheduled with a 6 hour layover in Newark. I did not fly to Toronto. I contacted Air Canada and was rescheduled again but arriving hours later than originally scheduled. I flew to Newark and connected to Halifax, my destination."

The only thing I didn't do was put my luggage on the plane and when I did get it, the luggage was damaged. My luggage went from Kingston - Toronto - Barbados, back to Toronto with nothing wrong with the luggage. They cancelled the last flight to Kingston,so they put us in a hotel. But from Toronto back to Kingston was hell when we got to Kingston."

Cons: "We waited on the tarmac for a very long time, causing us to miss our next flight. This is not an Air Canada issue. The system in Toronto required another trip through security, lines and lines and lines. Technology that no one understood - very little guidance from Toronto staff except - "go here". It took almost an hour which caused us to miss our MSP flight. If you have an international flight through this airport leave yourself more than 2 hours. We had a two hour window and didn't make it in time."

The only reason i took this flight was the arrival time. I am a physician and was sleep deprived at work the next day. Very disappointed!"

AC spent over an hour trying to figure out what to do with the luggage. Poor communication and inconsistent messaging didn't help. We made our connection but only because it was otherwise delayed arriving due to weather."

They said they would do their best but ended up giving me a plate of lettuce and bread. When I asked about the bread having dairy or eggs they said they didnt know, so I had to throw it out."

Cons: "My sister is still stuck in Paris after she was rerouted there from Toronto to catch a Royal Air Maroc flight. The air canada office closed and the phone line people have failed to ensure that her ticket was paid for so she's been stuck for two days in Paris and traveling a total of three days!!"
