Only people at the front of the queue can see the correct places to stand, so many people were trying to push in the front of the queue because the signs weren't visible from some angles or from far away. Basically couldn't see the inflight safety videos from my seat (17K) because of the curvature of the overhead bins and positions of the few screens (no seat-back monitors)."

Cons: "The seat pitch is such that you can’t use a laptop in a normal seat. This would have been a big issue if there wasn’t a seat in the exit row for me to borrow. Staff fine but nothing special."

Our plane delayed so we arrived late at Tokyo causing to missed our plane connection then the crew helped us( very accommodating) for our transfer from Narita international airport to Haneda International airport with Limo bus, 1 & 1/2 hour ride with our luggages and waited for 8 hrs to be on board in a different airline."

Cons: "At Mumbai airport, during check-in I was told that my carry on bag plus personal item together should weigh not more than 7kgs!! I have never had any airline actually weigh my personal item (laptop backpack) before this journey. The weird thing is, I was never told about this rule on my journey from the US to India."

Pros: "I really like the Qatar flight from Auckland to Manchester. But beware now that the Akl leg leaves 1 hour later the transit in Doha is officially 1.15hr. But since the first leg is always getting in and you have to bus to the terminal, transit time is about 30 mins. Although they are efficient and i made it this time, i wouldn't want to do this with kids."

However we were flying West and thus into daylight. Sadly the window seated passengers were not asked to close their window blinds to block out the sunlight and many were left open. This made the cabin very bright and a difficult environment in which to sleep. Too much advertising before the on board videos, but otherwise content was good."

Cons: "Due to a misunderstanding at check-in we have been seated away from a baby bassinette (although booked) to sit together with my husband, nobody asked what my preference would be (sitting as a whole family or having a bassinette) and a 17-hour flight with a 9month old baby constantly on my lap was challenging. Also a very disappointing selection of films and documentaries for adults. I ended watching a kids movie with my older daughter and it was the only thing I found appealing. Kids section very good though, my 5-year old was glued to the screen and all the options had my approval :)"

I felt that when the flight crew saw this they could have made everyone much more comfortable by switching people to two people per row thus giving them more room especially on such a long flight."

The main meal contained 2/3 of potato and to add the potato salad as separate meal was a mistake. Some other vegetables and greens were better choice.

In all honesty I'm not a fussy traveller and never write reviews but Air Canada was so bad I thought it might be useful info for someone."

Cons: "My flight was at 6 am and I fell ill with strep throat the morning of. I had not gotten flight cancellation insurance so I had no choice but to board the flight while feeling sick. The illness got rapidly worse and before I knew it I had a fever and was nauseous and dizzy and was overall feeling terrible. For the first half of the flight I tried to sit through it, but it became too much as I was squished into a middle seat and was overheating extremely due to the fever and started to get overwhelmed and felt claustrophobic. At this point I decided that I could not wait out the rest of the flight in this middle seat so I went to talk to the flight attendants to ask to be moved to a seat with more space. Now, I had not slept at all the night before (because I had to take the bus to the airport at 2 am) and felt very overwhelmed with being so sick and so when I went to talk to the flight attendant I started to cry and told them I was feeling claustrophobic and wished to be moved to a seat with more space because I was very ill. I emphasized that I was sick and had to repeat this many times, but the flight attendants seemed to think I was having an anxiety episode even though I repeated many times that I was very sick. It took them HALF AN HOUR to find me a new seat. I spent this time standing while I felt extremely dizzy like I was going to pass out. I feel the situation was handled very poorly. Two of your flight attendants started trying to counsel me on anxiety and seemed to completely disregard the fact that I was extremely ill and that was causing me to feel claustrophobic (to put things in perspective, I spent the next 3 days unable to move from my dads couch, unable to eat anything, and had to be taken to the hospital because I could not even drink water). The illness started right before I was getting on the plane and at the time of boarding I had no idea how quickly it would get so bad. As an example of how poorly this was handled, one of the flight attendants handed me a pen and told me to "name my anxiety, and why I was feeling anxious and to write reasons that this may make me feel anxious" it was ridiculous. Here I was, about to pass out I was so dizzy and it took them half an hour to find me a new seat (I understand that the flight was very full but there were empty seats available). I kept repeating, I feel dizzy, I feel nauseous, I'm very sick, I need to sit down, please find me a seat and they spent half an hour trying to give me a therapy session on anxiety. I am extremely unhappy with this experience and feel like it was dealt with terribly by the staff on board. When a customer says I'm very ill with a fever and it's causing them to feel claustrophobic and they need to be moved to a seat with more room, the staff should not spend half an hour trying to counsel them on anxiety while the customer is standing there about to pass out. This experience made me feel like I wish to avoid traveling with Air Canada in the future."

The basmati rice had the consistency of oatmeal. The first meal was tasteless and the second meal had too much hot spice, but still no flavour. The bread they gave with the meal was tiny and tasteless compared to the lovely ciabatta rolls served with the regular meals."

Cons: "We avoid Air Canada and after this flight that will continue. First, they wanted $400 for the return trip to guarantee that my wife and I sit together. To guarantee that we sit together and that it would be safe for her 28in femurs it would be $800. Then the Orlando leg of our trip was delayed by two hours, guaranteeing that we would miss our connecting flight. They would not make arrangements prior to departure, nor would they respond to any enquiries from any of the passengers about their connecting flight arrangements. On arrival in Toronto, as we pulled up to the gate, they announced that they had found alternate connections for all but 4 passengers that we would get more information outside. There was nobody at the gate. There was noone at customs. We did not know if we had a connecting flight, or if we had to pick-up our luggage. Nobody from Air Canada gave us any information. We asked security at baggage if we should go on to connecting flights or wait for luggage and were only informed that once we leave the baggage area we couldn't return. When we got to the terminal entrance for connecting flights, we were told (by security) that we could not enter without a new boarding pass. THEY directed us to the line for Air Canada (no indication if we were in the right line, but other people in the line were in the same situation. We finally got to the counter and were informed that we were on the last flight of the night and given boarding passes. Thank heavens that my credit card has priority pass membership. Delays happen. The way Air Canada handles it turned a minor annoyance into a maximum-stress situation. We already avoid Air Canada because they took away almost 50,000 travel miles for not flying for one year. We will work even harder to avoid them in the future."

Cons: "There was a build-up of delays for domestic flights, namely from Toronto to Edmonton, Ottawa and Calgary (the ones I heard). I was on the Toronto to Calgary flight, which was supposedly delayed from 16:45 till 18:55 EST, but the actual boarding time was closer to 19:45 EST. Once all the passengers were boarded, the crew informed us that the pilot was missing. Another 20 minutes went by before he was located, at which point we were informed that the first mate was missing as well. By the time the pilot and first mate were both on the aircraft, it took another 30 minutes for them to get the aircraft ready. My flight from Toronto to Calgary was supposed to arrive at 19:40 MDT, the actual arrival time was 23:00 MDT. As a passenger, I am annoyed to say the least."

Therefore if seating have to be that close together they should not be able to recline. Our flight got in at 1am and because a family member needs assistance we were told to wait by some parked golf carts and someone would be right over to assist, we waited as we saw all passengers walk by and flight crew and no one showed. Then decided to slowly start walking and after awhile an angel of the airport staff, I wish I got her name to thank her saw our struggling through and quickly ran to grab a wheelchair and assisted us right to our shuttle service.These are the things that make airport service more pleasant, for such a state of the art airport the experience for passengers should run a little smoother and assistance to those that need it should be readily available. Cons: "Would have liked more info as to how to work the gizmos - had to ask how to recline my seat and never did get to grips with the entertainment. The Fast Pass specificaly said it was for disembarkation at London and so I did not realise I could have used it to get through security for ongoing flight"

Cons: "Of all the international airlines I have flown, this was by far the least well equipped for a long haul flight. There was no entertainment (we had to download an app to your personal device beforehand, which we were not informed about until already onboard). There were iPads for rent, but not nearly enough for the number of passengers requesting. The dinner was a good size, but there were no additional snacks, only small sized drinks offered, and alcohol was not complimentary, and a smaller size than what's provided while in N America for the same price. Overall, I was quite unimpressed with Air Canada, and will avoid flying with them in the future, when possible."
Cons: "Our flight originating in Halifax was 1.5 hours delayed and we knew there was no way we would make our connecting flight in Toronto with a 40 min window to pass through customs, US immigration, and reenter security into the US bound F gates. We requested to be rebooked for early the following day to avoid being stranded in Toronto. Acknowledging it was unlikely we could make the connection, the staff told us that because the computer didn't list it as a "missed connection", they could not take any steps to rebook us. Of course, we missed the connection and were stranded for an entire 24 hours in Toronto with two small children."
Pros: "The crew was doing the best they could and was professional."
Cons: "Where to start, I have taken Air Canada 1 time before to Regina and you lost my luggage, luckily it was on the flight home. This time check in was very disorganized and unprofessional (I got scolded when my luggage bumped the post that forms the line that was set up after half the passengers were there making the last to show up first in line.) The flight was delayed and hour for a broken air mask upon departure . The monitor screens were hard to see and harder to hear. Upon arrival we sat for 30 minutes because they couldn't shut the engines down. Customs was a breeze but the walk from terminal to customize to the next terminal had me winded, luckily my connecting Air Canada flight was late also . And this was the better part of my experience. My flight to Athens was miserable ( lots of screaming children spread out through the plane). And when I thought it was over my luggage was separated and lost for 3 days. I should send you the underwear as a reminder of my experience"
Cons: "We got a hotel in St. Louis so we'd be plenty early for our morning flight. Got to the airport more than 2 hours early, checked in and waited. They announced over the overhead speakers that our flight was delayed due to mechanical issues. Then delayed again. Then cancelled. We were on the phone with both the airline and priceline ASAP. By "on the phone" I mean "holding for the next available representative...", which was more than an hour wait for both. The airline didn't have another flight they could fit us on until next week. We asked priceline to get us on the next available flight. We held, were disconnected, held, held more, disconnected, held more...until the day was gone. That evening they finally said they booked us on a 6:15 a.m. flight. I asked for an email confirmation and when it didn't arrive several hours later I called back. "Please hold" was the catch phrase of the day. Eventually a rep came on the line and said that we had a 6:15 a.m. flight, gave me the flight number, etc. and said the email would arrive shortly. We went to bed feeling good. We got up at 3 a.m. to get to the airport by 4 a.m. The airline didn't have anything on us. We had two hours to get this straightened out so we weren't TOO worried. "Please hold" When the priceline rep finally came on the phone she said we had reservations and the airline should let us on. Even though it was 5 a.m. now there was a long line at the airport check-in. When we got to the front of the line the guy dug deeper into his system, said he could find our reservation, but that priceline just hadn't purchased the tickets. I told this to the priceline rep on the phone. "Please hold" We watched as our flight left. We spent the day trying to get priceline to get us on a flight, but I was never able to speak to someone able to get us on a flight."

Cons: "if i knew the name of the man i talked to at checkin i would make a complaint specifically about him. i lost my passport a few days before coming home and went to the united states consulate where they told me to bring a printed copy of my passport and the united states boarding patrol would let me back into the united states. the man at the checkin didn't want to let me through to even speak to the united states border patrol and told me the consulate was wrong. i almost missed my flight because of his stubborn arrogance. once past him i was able to explain what happened and show what identification I had and everyone was very nice to me."

Cons: "Air Canada messed up new luggage process in YYZ for our BDA flight. Some connections qualify for baggage transfer with no pickup in Customs. BDA does not qualify. AC spent over an hour trying to figure out what to do with the luggage. Poor communication and inconsistent messaging didn't help. We made our connection but only because it was otherwise delayed arriving due to weather."

Cons: "During boarding, there were too many passengers for seats, so one woman had to leave the plane. Also, 8 people (on this very small flight of maybe 16-18 total passengers) did not get their luggage, including me. They said it would likely be several days before I could get my bag back, which is unfortunate because it contains most of my clothes, my glasses, and all of my toiletries, so I'm going to have to go buy some new ones while I wait for my bag to come home."

Cons: "I checked in 5hrs early to find out that I had to check in my carry on. To my disappointment, as I finally boarded, I noticed that LOTS of people had carry ons that were either the same size or larger. As we landed, the passenger next to asked me to help take her carry on down from the top storage area (as it was extremely heavy). Her bag could've been 50lbs! The plane was over burdened with people's carry ons. What disappoints me the most is that I checked in early, but my carry on did not make it aboard the plane while other people's carry on did!"

When our flight was delayed, I mentioned about the reality of possibly missing our next flight. The air hostess asked whether we had booked all the way with AirNZ. When I answered no, but with a Star Alliance member (United Airlines), she didn't seem to care. I wonder at the purpose of the Star Alliance.

No foof or drink service due to turbulence.

Better boarding announcement. Sometimes difficult to hear or sometimes not easy to understand.

A wait on the tarmac before coming to the gate. Happens every time I fly into Newark

Pros: "The staff was accommodating and worked hard to make us more comfortable and be helpful when possible- there was a lot of turbulence so dinner was served late and there was a lot of time we couldn't move about but they made the best of it."
Cons: "The added benefits of the Air New Zealand long flight planes of the entertainment like mini games and the footrest into bed as well as my husband and I not being seated in between two people but being on one side or the other."
Pros: "Crew was great and I really like the text updates on landing for my new gate with directions on how to navigate Dulles."
Cons: "Stop pretending I can take a carry on. I'm boarding last, and guaranteed I'm going to have to check my carry-on."

Pros: "After United lost our luggage in Houston we had to file a claim in Auckland which meant we missed our flight to Wellington. Ground crew were super helpful and got us on the next flight 30 mins later. Cabin crew were great and sorted us out with water and snacks before take off as could tell we were desperate after flying in from London via Houston."

Cons: "Dear United Airlines, It is my dearest wish that reading the following inflicts upon you at least a fraction of the stress, frustration, and pain that I have been through traveling with you today- you absolutely abhorrent excuse for a company. Due to your incomparable incompetence my arrival was inexcusably delayed almost 12 hours. An account follows: For a company who's customer service is already hanging by a very thin thread you would think that you would be doing everything to make your flights as smooth and pleasant as possible. Shall I elaborate on the utter frustration and boredom of being trapped in the San Francisco airport facing not one, not two, but what became SEVEN delays? Delays that have been caused by runway maintenance- a condition which someone in your company would have known about well before I got to the airport and that you simply did not plan for. A almost FOUR HOUR delay that could have been easily avoided if you just had things together and scheduled your planes around the affected runways. And let's not forget the additional delay caused when your flight crew simply couldn't be found to come to the gate so we could start getting underway! But no, I think the absolutely outstanding quintessential experience that defines flying with United airlines is this: After the above delays myself and my fellow passengers were finally able to board our flight- only to be told by the captain that there would be another brief delay while we waited for ANOTHER crew member because one of the pilots was near the end of their union hours. We sit on the plane stuck for another 20 minuets or so, only to be told they can't find anyone, and can we please get off the plane because our WHOLE FLIGHT is CANCELED. The kiosk I get to try and fix this is uncrowded but understaffed and run by clearly undertrained employees. The ones I'm dealing with keep having to ask each other for help, and give advice/plans that contradict one another. One of theme even takes what seems to be a personal call while 'assisting' me. When I finally get ahold of a supervisor I have to plead to get the next flight out of this godforsaken place, which I am reluctantly given as its with one of your competitors. Talking with other customer and airport staff is sounds very much like you are delaying/canceling flights for your own personal gain or at least not correcting flights around the situation to squeeze more money from the situation) it becomes quite clear that you are not only still incapable of accepting any real measure of accountability but entirely disgracefully unorganized.  Almost 12 hours later I do finally make it home- thanks to American Airlines.  Only to have the utter displeasure of one last interaction with United wherein when I pick up my bag your employees insist that I was delayed due to the weather and it wasn't your fault. It was entirely absolutely your fault."

Brkfst was rushed in last hour before touch down. This was a real disappointment after an excellent flight from LAX to MEL! We can fly AA for such service at a lower price!"

The SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT thing about this.....and any other flight.....is leaving your place or origin and arriving at your destination SAFELY and without incident. For this, I'm always happy for an uneventful flight. Thanks United."
Cons: "You DO have to have the United app to watch any entertainment. This is kind of a downer. If you have WiFi on a plane, why limit it to just ONE app? Standard snacks and drinks so nothing special there"

Also, I had initially picked the last row to sit on, which was stated on my itinerary but when I printed my boarding pass, I got assigned middle of plane - which I did not understand nor complain about."

Cons: "Every time the crew came by with something (more food, duty free, custom forms) (which seemed very regularly) it was announced over the intercom so it made sleeping very difficult on the 11 hour red eye flight. Other airlines will just walk by and catch your eye if you are awake. Seats were quite small as well."

Cons: "I have metal leg braces. I had to remove them to get in the seat. So the flight was uncomfortable. It would be nice if the plane could have handicapped seating.I know I wouldn't have minded paying a little more for comfortable seating."

Pros: "The Air NZ FLight from Aickland to San Francisco was operated by United Airlines. The seat had excellent leg room. The attendants were very pleasant and available throughout."
Cons: "When I first border the plane there was another passes egg in my allocated seat. The selection of movies available was only okay. their is only a minimal number of toilets for the number of passengers and one of them was out of paper when I went or use it. But they were always clean."
Pros: "We didn't crash."
