Reykjavik hotels near Asgrimur Jonsson Collection

Cons: Missed our flight with 7 yrs old, was charged for 1 night stay as was “too late to cancel “ and had “no insurance “. Would be nice if there was some «deviation” from the policy in this particular situation and in customer service for the whole Iceland. I felt like nobody fights here for their tourists. I guess a climate plays a role here .... Next time definitely would NOT stay here, as there other options

Cons: Slow wifi.

Cons: Parking was listed but it was public parking. We had to drive around and parked a few blocks away.

Cons: The room size was a little small and there was no place for a second piece of large luggage. Also, even with the radiator in the off position, the room was extremely hot. We were forced to sleep with the windows open. The amount of noise coming from the street from cars and people at all hours of the night caused us not to get a good nights sleep in the 8 days that we were there. I wish I would have brought ear plugs.

Cons: For some reason the TV was messed up most of the time (would get frozen on certain channels and would have to get up and turn it off). However, was not in the room much, so this was not a big issue.

Cons: Ridiculous price for room that had no amenities. Paid five star price for two star motel. Room small, bed uncomfortable. Everything extra.

Cons: It got a bit hot in the room at night, but it was a minor issue.

Cons: The hotel had messed up the reservations. My reservation through Kayak was fine. However, a hotel block that was to be released 45 days before my arrival was still on the books (I was joining a hiking group) and they tried to get me to pay for that supposed reservation. In talking with the agency that had arranged the room block for this particular hiking group, this is not the first time that this hotel has done this. In addition, a friend of mine who had confirmed her reservation at Hotel Centrum before leaving the US, received an e-mail that they were overbooked and she had to go to another hotel---even though Hotel Centrum had double bookings and indeed did have rooms.

Cons: The hotel staff were rude and not helpful. One night there was so much noise from people talking and partying until 3:00 am. Could not sleep. The buses no linger pick you up at the hotel. It the walk to the bus stop is less than five minutes. It was still inconvenient with all our luggage. We did not know that when booking.

Cons: It smelled like someone had thrown up in the hallway. I believe the cleaning staff tried to clean it up as best they could but the smell lingered.

Cons: The location was a bit further from the city than anticipated, it's listed as a medium walking distance, it is walkable, just not desirable on cold/rainy nights, approximately 20kr cab ride. The dinner buffet was fairly expensive and we didn't really care for it, we preferred the restaurants around the corner or in town and the cost was similar or less, potentially regular ordering tasted better than the buffet. No shampoo/conditioner/lotion, I always bring my own, but wanted to note.

Cons: The staff was not very accommodating at all. I reserved a superior room with a double bed, and they gave us 2 twin beds. After speaking with the front desk, all they could tell us was that they are fully booked, and that you're never guaranteed the type of bed you want, but we could push the 2 twin beds together if we'd like. No, thank you. We were only staying there for one night, so we decided not to push the issue. Checkout is at noon, but after reading the hotel info they provide you with in the room, I saw they offer late checkout at 2pm as an option. So, that evening I called the desk to request late checkout, and the woman I spoke with could not give me a yes or no. She said I have to speak with the day staff. I called at 8am the following morning and the woman informed me again that they are fully booked. Ok, but I'm just asking to check out at 2pm. Check in for any new guests is at 4pm. That still gives cleaning crew 2 hours to get the room ready for any new guests arriving. I even tried to compromise and say can we at least stay until 1pm? We were catching the shuttle to the airport at 2pm from the hotel, and didn't have anywhere to go for 2 hours if we checked out at noon. She told me they could hold our luggage and we could go downtown and shop. No, I'm not risking missing the airport shuttle because you told me to go to town and spend $$. So after me asking the same question in 4 different ways, she finally said ok, you can check out at 1pm. Well wow! Thanks a million, Grand Hotel. We won't be staying with you on our next trip to Iceland.

Cons: Bed was rather uncomfortable Lack of TV channels Interactive TV features simply don't work

Cons: Room was very warn, sheets did not fit the bed and furniture was dirty. Staff was not friendly. The hotel was not inexpensive and was probably the second worst I have ever stayed in. I would NOT recommend staying at this hotel.

Cons: The staff did mess up our tour reservation once and we had to ask management time and again for something to be done about it. The desk in the room had some coffee stains and the shower door does not prevent the water from going all over the bathroom! Plus the hotel was definitely a bit distant from city center.

Cons: Location was a bit away from the city centre. Taxi cabs are very expensive.

Cons: The only downside is you aren't right downtown but it's tough to say really what downtown actually is. It's such a big sprawl of a city so it's in Reykjavik but just not the heart I guess, they have a shuttle to make up for this.

Cons: Walls were a little thin, but it's a hostel so I didn't go into the experience expecting a quiet evening alone.

Cons: The only thing that didn't work was th TV in our room. When the staff couldn't seem to fix it we were given vouchers for a beverage of our choice from the bar. It worked out just fine, instead of sitting in our room we went out and about the city and had a great time, better than TV any day!

Cons: Breakfast is a barely mediocre buffet for 3000isk (about $30) a person

Cons: It was discribed as having a pool which was not accurate because you had to pay extra for that tried to stay one night and cancel the other nights were told couldn't do it with out paying full price, won't book through kayak again

Cons: Having a double bed which have two beds pushed together was uncomfortable and as a couple we like to be close when we sleep. On this occasion having two single duvets just made this uncomfortable. On check in they told us they were overbooked and that we should chose another of their hotels. The member of staff was rude and talking in Icelandic to other members of staff which made us uncomfortable. We ended up with a room upgrade because of the situation however this is not what we needed after a long day travelling.

Cons: The restaurant wasn't that great, (underdone chicken), waitstaff wasn't friendly, especially if your breakfast wasn't part of the package. The spa staff gave contradictory information to reception staff, so better communication would've been helpful .

Cons: The extra charges for breakfast were quite high.

Cons: Construction going on at the hotel, very loud at the time and the in-house restaurant was closed for renovations.

Cons: There is some disconnect with the housekeeping staff and internal construction noise during the day.

Cons: Outdated rooms, felt like a stay in a hospital. Locationwasnt ideal. Staff not very friendly.

Cons: Room could be spacious and price could be lowered but in Iceland nothing is cheap!
