Pros: The hotel was perfect for a couple. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. Perfect location to walk to everything we wanted to see or to get to the bus transfers. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice.

Pros: Fabulous location! Lots of shops and restaurants are right outside your door. Fantastic room - appreciated the coffee maker and loved the bathroom - the shower was delightful! Great amenities - shampoo/conditioner/body wash that was provided smelled so good - product called Soley. Lovely courtyard. Friendly and helpful staff.

Pros: The location was great, on the central street. 5 minutes away from bus stop 14 and pick up for tours at the Rex Hostel - the main street is mostly pedestrianised so you do have to walk a little for pick ups. The bonus supermarket and Brauo bakery were a two minute walk away. The self-check in process was easy, 5 mins. We never really met any of the staff on reception. For check out you just leave your card in a box. The bean to cup coffee machine made excellent coffee, plenty of beans, sugar, herbal tea bags and milk in the fridge on arrival. The kitchen had everything we needed including a dishwasher. The bathroom was compact but clean and the shower was amazing. The Icelandic shampoo, shower gel and conditioner were lovely - I don't normally use hotel stuff but these smelt really nice. We were located on the back overlooking the courtyard on the first floor, we heard a little noise from outside and other rooms but it was not a problem. Good tv with lots of English options.

Pros: The hotel was perfect for a couple. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. Perfect location to walk to everything we wanted to see or to get to the bus transfers. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice.
Cons: The only thing I would suggest is leaving directions for the coffee maker and the oven and stove. They were a little difficult to figure out.

Great amenities - shampoo/conditioner/body wash that was provided smelled so good - product called Soley. Lovely courtyard. Friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: The PIN number sent for check in was incorrect. Luckily, with a quick phone call at reception, it was an easy fix. Parking is expensive. Tip: park by the church for free!

Cons: The bed was two twins pushed together which is sometimes fine but there was an annoying dent in the middle. This was also annoying because the duvet only just met the ends of the bed, it wasn't big enough to be comfortable for two people, especially when sleeping in the middle of the bed was uncomfortable. We booked the cheapest room but it could have done with a small table so you could eat together in the room. It had a bench at the end of the bed and two stools which would not be ideal if you wanted to eat a meal in the room. Other than that, fantastic stay.

Cons: Missed our flight with 7 yrs old, was charged for 1 night stay as was “too late to cancel “ and had “no insurance “.
Would be nice if there was some «deviation” from the policy in this particular situation and in customer service for the whole Iceland. I felt like nobody fights here for their tourists.
I guess a climate plays a role here ....

Pros: The hotel decor in this hotel is really well designed. The lobby, the lounge, the restaurant & the rooms were all super cool. We loved it! We stayed in a really great room. It had a living room with a pullout that our 2 year old slept on & a great big king in the bedroom. The bathroom had a really cool clawfoot tub & big shower. I loved the decor in our room! Blackout curtains were great as we were jet lagged & the sun doesn't go down in the Summer iceland. Breakfast was yummy & the coffee was excellent. Everything is VERY expensive in Iceland but this hotel was pricey even for Iceland. Luckily we had a free night from hotels.com do we only had to pay the taxes. I'm very impressed with Canopy by Hilton though & hope to stay in another one of their hotels.

Pros: The hotel was great. From the atmosphere and decorations to the people working there. The front desk staff were amazing and friendly. They were always ready to help and had a smile on there faces everyday. We got a family sized room for two people just because I heard the rooms might be smaller. However the room was bigger than I expected including the bathroom. You hear that the shower doors fold to make more room. However even extended there is enough room for the other person to use the sink or get ready. The hotel gives you a cell phone with data included, which was honestly amazing. I made the phone into a wifi hotspot and was able to use my own cell phone throughout the trip. Just bring portable charger with you as the phone battery dies quickly this way. The hotel is also located on the main strip and perfect walking distance from restaurants and bars. But a few blocks down so you don't hear the noise of the bars at night.
We never tried the breakfast downstairs as we always had say trips planned in the mornings. There is a bakery down the street that is open early I can't remember the name of it but the front desk told us about it. Big enough to sit down and have breakfast, but gets packed as well so give yourself enough time if you have morning plans.
The room does come with a pot to make your own hot tea and instant coffee if you are in a rush.

Pros: We loved this hotel. Modern, totally clean, perfect location, and helpful staff who made great recommendations for tours. We booked the sea view, which wasn’t so much useful for the sea because we came and left in the dark, but was handy for northern lights lookout. We didn’t see any, but were glad we could check every so often without leaving our room.

Pros: The location of the hotel was the best. So close to everything and really handy when catching a bus. It was clean, and the room was quiet and I slept well. The robes in the room were a nice touch as was the personal safe. The radiator kept the room nice and warm, and the comforters on the bed were nice. They give you a cell phone to use during your stay to make local phone calls and check the internet. The breakfast choices were good and the food tasted good. The items were regularly stocked and the fruit was fresh. Tables were cleared quickly. There was a bar and restaurant onsite (which I didn't visit), but it looked nice.

Cons: The lack of allergy labelling on the breakfast buffet. I can’t eat gluten. We asked whether the breakfast buffet would have options for me. We were told it did and when we arrived for breakfast the serving staff knew about my allergy but in practice it was a case of using common sense to guess at sage foods given the risk of cross contamination.

Cons: Hard to say what I did not like about the hotel. The only thing I can think of is that the room gets very warm and with no thermostat to control temperature. We opened the window everyday however it only opens a tiny crack and doesn't stay open on its own. Probably from the wind outside. Just bring light pajamas with you and you will be fine.

Cons: - The walls are extremely thin and the noise from other rooms is very loud. We were on level 2 and heard noise all night from the room above and outdoor street. Had a poor night sleep. - no minifridge. - breakfast is not included and no option to book prior to booking the Hotel. 2500ISK each for breakfast each day was too steep for us as Australians.

Cons: The rooms were extremely dark, even with all the lights on. I went in the winter so it was dark outside for the majority of the day. Coffee and tea service in the room was not always replenished daily. One morning, I overheard one of the servers at breakfast reprimand 3 guests at the next table for "wasting food". I was shocked she would say something like this. Apparently there was a sweet roll in the center of their table that they didn't eat, and she went on and on about not taking things that wouldn't be eaten. This was unacceptable in my opinion. The clerk at the check-in, Olga, was less than friendly and talked about other guests to the other clerk when I was within ear-shot. Then, when she was in the middle of helping me another time, she stopped helping me and started taking care of new guests. Not professional at all. Overall, the hotel was OK. A bit expensive I think. It would be nice to add a small refrigerator to the rooms for the guests.

Cons: Unfortunately for the hotel, but fortunately for Reykjavik generally, there is a bit of construction going on near the facilities. Not a big deal if you're getting up early to go on an adventure, but if you intend to sleep in do ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. This advice should be good through the end of summer 2015.

Cons: Nothing this hotel was perfect for our stay!

Pros:
Cons: The only thing that I didn't like was the lift was broken for 3 days while we were there and we were on the top floor.

Pros: Great location near to bus stop 3 for tour pick ups and transfers, lots of shops and restaurant within a minutes walk, The breakfast was good - they had a good selection. we had an evening meal there and the food was exceptional.
Cons: The room did not smell very nice when we walked in, it's a non smoking hotel but i think a smoker may have used the room before and the windows had been left wide open with the heating off. Not that nice in iceland in november to walk into a freezing smelly room but apart from that an excellent stay
4.6 Okay
Pros: The location is very central, the design of the hotel and decoration is very nice
Cons: The shower area and shower were beyond awful, we paid for a deluxe room and there was nothing deluxe about it really, completely average. The breakfast was ok, not great. The elevator was completely out of use during our whole stay which was a bit of a pain. Staff upon arrival weren’t very welcoming or overly friendly.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and great breakfast. Room smaller than expected but good all the same. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: I am short so mirror in bathroom too high and I couldn’t reach the safe - why put it up so high even if tall would struggle. And the room could do with some coat pegs as all have big coats need somewhere to hang them !!!

Pros: Location was perfect, nice size rooms as we upgraded to a deluxe room ....standard would have been too small. friendly helpful staff. great choice of breakfast.

Nice little restaurant in the lobby
Cons: For some reason the TV was messed up most of the time (would get frozen on certain channels and would have to get up and turn it off). However, was not in the room much, so this was not a big issue.

We enjoyed the adjacent museum / Viking settlement exhibit. Comfy beds, room is nice and dark and quiet, very restful after a long day of trekking or sightseeing.
Cons: The room is a little warm, and there is no independent temperature control, but I gather that is kind of standard for Iceland and not specific to this property.

Pros: Only stayed for one night but everything about the hotel works... The location is great for restaurants, bars, walking to the downtown area (5 mins) and the staff were very helpful. The rooms were comfortable, bright, and had everything we needed. Highly recommended stay...
Cons: Building work opposite but not much the hotel can do about that...
6.5 Good
Pros: The location was very nice and central.
Cons: The hotel staff were rude and not helpful. One night there was so much noise from people talking and partying until 3:00 am. Could not sleep. The buses no linger pick you up at the hotel. It the walk to the bus stop is less than five minutes. It was still inconvenient with all our luggage. We did not know that when booking.

The staff are wonderful and a credit to the hotel and Iceland as a whole. The location of this hotel is perfect. Two minutes to the bus stop for your excursions and right on top of the bars and restaurants. The only thing I wasn’t mad about was the lack of a hotel bar, you have to go into Jamie’s Restaurant for a little tipple but that’s not picking and didn’t and wouldn’t put me off returning to this brilliant hotel. Well done guys!

Cons: I arrived at 7am but paid for the night before because I needed to sleep. At 12 noon it here was a nock on the door and a moment later a phone call. They wanted me to check out even though I had a five day reservation . Actually should not of been charged for the first day because I didn't get what I paid for, sleep.

Pros: The location is great
Cons: There are so many more hotels in the area that in our opinion had much more to offer. We experienced a few hotels in the Reykjavik and the others were similar in price (if not less) and the staff was so wonderful and friendly, rooms were above and beyond and the amenities were far superior. Overall would give this a 3 out of 5 star.

Cons: Breakfast is ok. Not spectacular like everyone is saying. The rooms are tiny, but I do think that’s all over Scandinavia and Iceland. I could hear a lot of stuff going on in other rooms, I could even hear the pee drops from somebody. Doors being shut, pretty loud. The breakfast before leaving. Are you kidding me? We were given an extra early breakfast because our flight left very early. We got coffee, tee, juice and croissants (just the pieces of bread), nothing else.
6.0 Good
Pros:
Cons: We weren't notified in advance that Centerhotel had moved us to another hotel. We were exhausted from traveling and would have appreciated nothing more than going to sleep at the hotel we booked.
The staff at the Arnarhvoll did order a taxi that took us to the new hotel. The hotel we were bumped to, Centerhotel Plaza, was in a better location in the downtown.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff. Great location ! Lovely breakfast and the dinner at the sky bar was great too! Couldn’t fault it!
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: The location was great, on the water easy access to the bus stop. Also close the tourist area of the city where you can shop and have plenty of places to eat.
Cons: Could not figure out the heating in the room and staff was not helpful. Cleaning staff left the window open much to my surprise coming back at 10 pm to find the room very cold with the window wide open. Shower is literally the entire bathroom which I am not used to. Don't bring clothes into the bathroom they will get really wet. Parking is very limited lot only has 6 spots which is difficult when you pay for parking on the street from 9-6 and the parking pay stops were very difficult to figure out.

Pros: Not a great stay but staff was very nice
Cons: We got put in a room that faced the car parking (even though we had a deluxe room), the water from the shower goes everywhere, and the water smells of sulfur
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast buffet is good and great views from the restaurant
Room kept clean
Staff friendly and helpful
Cons: Some cracks showing on the walls in the bedroom and the shaving mirror didn't light up show that it needs a little bit of attention on the maintenance front but nothing that impacted my comfort.
The pillows were feather and were not very comfortable for me as I prefer a firmer synthetic pillow.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The design of the hotel is great. Its very modern and sleek.
The views are fantastic. Whether you're at the Sky Lounge or the comfortable lobby, you can clearly see the beautiful harbor and mountain range.
The location of the hotel is also great. Its right by the downtown area and can easily walk to the strip without the barrage of traffic. The hotel is also 5 minutes from many museums and shops by the harbor and beyond.
Cons: Because of the central location, space is tight. The room offers minimal storage and the bathroom has a convertible shower that takes advantage space. The design was beautiful but the quarters were close.
The breakfast was OK. It was the first meal I had where fish was not an option. The crumbled eggs were dry and actually crunchy. Bacon was either burnt or raw. However, the view from the top of the hotel easily distracted these inconveniences.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A great hotel, staff great, great location

Pros: Perfect location and a very reasonable price for all it offers!!!
Cons: Nothing!!!
7.4 Good
Pros: easy to walk to some things
Cons: We made the mistake of using the Flyjet bus-- horrible mistake!!! We had 4 adults, 4 year old, and 20 month old, and had no idea that the bus would not take us to the hotel. Instead we had to transfer from big bus to small bus, hauling our luggage and placing on small bus. Then we were unloaded 2 blocks from the hotel, and had to haul our luggage up a hill to the hotel. Some stairs in the hotel to the first level to get to the elevator.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Good location, nice building.
Cons: Difficult to get into hotel after-hours, must rely on frequently-absentee front desk employee to manually let in.

The location was perfect as it is half way between uptown and downtown Reykjavik and it is on the main shopping street, with lots of nice bars and restaurants very close by.
Cons: It was a little hard to work at the desk as there was insufficient light so a desk lamp would have been very helpful.

Pros: Breakfast was very good.
Cons: The windows need to be replaced and soundproofed...we were woke up multiple times every night from all the street noise.

Pros: Everything about this hotel runs like clockwork. From the moment I arrived to the moment i left the staff here were nothing short of amazing, they know what they were doing, knew the area, had excellent local knowledge on every possible type of tour or city walk and had the patience of saints to continue to answer the same questions over and over again. I had a small issue when I arrived and it was remedied within minutes of the complaint. I don't think in all my travels I've ever experienced hotel staff like this. They are a credit to themselves and the management. The hotel itself is immaculate, the location cannot be beaten, the wifi is excellent, the breakfast is more than adequate. The rooms are well laid out and large! I liked that the windows could be partly opened for fresh air. I was given a room with a view down over the the town square which was set up as a skating rink and decorated for xmas, I would highly recommend rooms 741, 743 and 745 for this view. It was beautiful to chill out while watching the scene below and the happenings of downtown. The coffee machine on the 7th floor was a nice perk, along with the option to have the breakfast from downstairs served in your room on one morning of the stay on the exec floor at no extra cost. Its the little things at this hotel, that make it so nice. The nearest bus stop for all tour pick ups and drop offs is literally only 200 meters away on flat ground, ( bus stop 1 - city hall) so very easy distance to cover, even for moving large suitcases. I left my excess luggage here for 4 days while i went on a tour and returned. There was no hassle with this, they gave me a cloak room tag and kept it in a secure room with staff only access. I stayed here twice in once week, in 2 different room types and was really happy with both stays.

Pros: Spa was fantastic, breakfast was great but this was expected due to the price you pay.
Cons: Having a double bed which have two beds pushed together was uncomfortable and as a couple we like to be close when we sleep. On this occasion having two single duvets just made this uncomfortable.
On check in they told us they were overbooked and that we should chose another of their hotels. The member of staff was rude and talking in Icelandic to other members of staff which made us uncomfortable. We ended up with a room upgrade because of the situation however this is not what we needed after a long day travelling.

Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful with information on getting around Reykjavik. The food was excellent. Loved the Folk art and displays in the lobby. It was a very nice stay for my first visit to Iceland.
Cons: The only thing that didn't work was th TV in our room. When the staff couldn't seem to fix it we were given vouchers for a beverage of our choice from the bar. It worked out just fine, instead of sitting in our room we went out and about the city and had a great time, better than TV any day!
