Waited two hours in line to get a vehicle. Didn’t get the type of vehicle I reserved so I ended up paying more than I intended. Workers were super slow and not efficient. There were plenty of people with children who had to be sitting on the floor while waiting for long at 1 am. No seating available for children, disabled people, pregnant women or the elderly. Avis rentail closed at 3pm, we could not return the car until the next day and had to park it overnight at the same location as the Avis for an extra 65/70 dollars. We were late by two hours to return the car which created an extra 100+ in fees. Car was also not clean when received.Reviewed 5 Jun 2023

Picking up the car was a nightmare. We specifically asked for a Chevy Suburban due to the amount of luggage and people we had. We needed Captains chairs in 2nd row and the larger trunk space. The counter agent refused to give us one, despite me being an Avis member and pointing out the available one on the lot. When we went outside we met Dan who works the lot outside. He was AMAZING! I pointed out that there was a Suburban that was perfect, he checked it and quickly changed our car to that Suburban. When we tried to leave the lot, the agent inside had assigned that car to another COUPLE (just after us) (not the 6 people we had). We couldn't leave, and found Dan who went inside to sort out the issue. The agent was planning to give them the Suburban because they had requested a black car. Our friend Dan reminded the agent the our car was not black but green. He finalised the paperwork again from inside and finally we were able to leave. Without Dan the trip would have been much more difficult due to the layout of the Expedition. What I didn't understand is why a couple would get priority over us simply because they requested a specific colour when we had 6 people and needed a specific type of car. Thexagent at the counter was downright rude, but Dan SAVED THE DAY!!! GIVE THAT MAN A RAISE!Reviewed 29 May 2023

Never even got a car. Had a reservation for 10 am pick up. Arrived to learn of at least a one hour wait. Given we were only renting car for use that same day it was not in the cards for us to sit around waiting. Ditched Avis and got Hertz. NEVER renting from Avis againReviewed 16 May 2023

Gave our expected car away to someone else and replaced it with a long-in-the-tooth sedan. No floor mats, scratches all over, stunk of air freshener. Not tragic but pickup staff could have been more organized & cordial dealing with the issue. Drop-off staff was great.Reviewed 11 Apr 2023

We booked a full size car, we were given a pick up truck and told there no other cars available. The truck was not conducive to what we needed to do, when we walked to the garage to get the truck there were lots of cars of different kinds that were clearly available ( none in our class, but we would have happily taken something then the truck that was assigned to us with no options even though it is was not what we paid for.Reviewed 3 Apr 2023

Overall, an “OK”experience. They forgot to have car seats on the property that I previously rsvp’d. It was a major hiccup that cost us a half a day and was a total inconvenience since we had to go shopping for car seats in NYC which was not an easy task nor a fun one with kids. The vehicle we rented had a strong odor of cigarettes and maybe even marijuana. Certainly room for improvement.Reviewed 8 Feb 2023
