They didn't have a full size sedan for us (despite reservation) but "upgraded" to a Nissan Kick. Wasn't really an upgrade since the suspension was terrible and the seats weren't really comfortable either. Could feel every bump in the road. Needed a kidney belt to drive in that car. On the plus side the car got good mileage, though underpowered. Staff on both ends were very nice.

The car was very very clean when I picked it up, which I really appreciate!The model of the car wasn’t super new, which I personally prefer more. It had about 20,000 miles on it.

They had two vehicles that both smelled like smoke. The employees “don’t have the discount codes” anymore. Apparently, you have to figure out the code and bring it to them to input. So no military discount.

Check in and check out was very easy.The car was dirty on the outside and the inside smelled like someone had been smoking a pack of cigarettes. Had to have it clean when I arrived at my destinations.

Fast pickup, no long processing at the counter. Waited on immediately and car was ready, not complicated with a lot of questions. The actual drop off was fast, but the first problem occurred within 1 hour of drop off when I received the email itemizing the charges which was wrong.I was incorrectly charged for refueling two gallons of gas, even though I topped off the tank less than two miles from the rental car drop off location. When I FUELED the vehicle I clicked the pump 3 to 4 times to make sure the tank was topped off, and the fuel gauge read full with 350 miles of available range shown on the vehicles computer. I had to call to get this refuel charge removed. Now I’m worried about the EZ-Pass charges not being charged correctly.

Heads up fellow travellers! Look in the trunk of your rental car BEFORE you leave the pick up location. Be sure to find out if there is a spare tire and/or that junky glue/self patch of a flat tire kit. Be sure to check the glue bottle! Nothing like getting a car with no spare and and empty glue bottle and discovering this only after you find you have a flat tire. Also - be sure to ask if their roadside assistance service and 800 number are 24-hour a day supported by LIVING HUMAN BEINGS.

Only one person was available to finalize my reservation, so we stood in line for a half hour or so. The drop off location was closed. There was some uncertainty by the owner of the connected auto parts store whether I should leave the car there.

Hertz did not honor the price negotiated through Kayak! They charged over $100 more than the negotiated price. The line to check in for the car was over one hour long and, once checked in, there was an additional half an hour wait because the vehicle was not ready, a truly awful experience.

Drop off at 40 Lodge Street in Albany NY was a bit confusing since it was sharing a parking garage with a Hilton hotel and the Hertz office was closed. Luckily the hotel staff was very helpful and gave me the info on parking and key drop off. Other than that confusion everything else was great.

The hertz counter at JFK airport was great. The person was nice and it was a smooth process.The booking at Canandaigua was scheduled to drop off after hours. But the Canandaigua location wasn’t incredibly difficult to see at night since it was just a small sign in a window of a building that was primarily for another company. Then the out of hours drop box had no sign is was for hertz. It was plastered with the logo of the company that clearly was the main company of the building. When I felt uncomfortable with dropping the key in an unmarked (with hertz) drop box, I received these crazy suggestions to just lock the keys in the car but that I would be charged for an unlock fee. One rep told me the Canandaigua location was not an after hours location whereas another rep did say that was the case. I offered to bring the car back the neck day so that I could safety and comfortably return the car but was told I would incur a late fee. In all - while hertz was willing to talk to me, they did not seem to have it fully together when trying to give their car back to them and the suggested solutions seemed inappropriate while the right solution (have a branded after hours drop off box) did not exist.

I wanted a Mustang to fulfil a dream of mine, but enjoyed the Dodge Charger GT! We drove out to Montauk from JFK, stopping at the vineyards and eventually the lighthouse. What a fantastic drive and also a quick and efficient service from Kayak/Queen/Avis!

I was overcharged $100 with no valid explanation. The price i was supposed to pay was listed then the final price stated $100 more. The car was in good condition as when received, gas was back to normal there was no reason for this extra charge. I called and was hung up on by a rude associate and then had to wait weeks before a manager contacted me. Worst experience EVER!

First we didn’t know Payless is part of Avis and very hard to find out the counter until we saw it inside of Avis. Return experience is not good since the rep just scanned the car and checked the key but didn’t issue receipt or confirmation of final settlement amount. Still don’t know how it will be delivered to me. Nervous because they deposit the amount 2x of original booking amount for security purpose.

Waited over 45 minutes in a very long line with only 2 agents at the counter. The manager was called to handle a customer complaint and made no effort to assist with the line or engage with the customers. I didn’t get the car requested online. I had to answer the same questions that I already replied to online. My Avis advantage number couldn’t be used to expédiâtes me in the line for the Payless reservation, but there wasn’t a dedicated person to help with Payless customers. Overall it was a horrible experience. When I dropped off my car they still made me go inside to speak to a representative.

We waited in line for 3 hours before receiving a rental car even with a reservation. When we returned the car we received little to no directions and could barely get through the lot as cars were on top of cars like sardines in a can. You could hardly squeeze through to get anywhere and it should not be a complicated maze for customers to figure out. We were on our way to a rehearsal dinner for a wedding and were late.

It takes 35 minutes to rent a car although reservation was made online. Everybody in the growing line was upset. Incompetent stuff. They told me if i can rent a truck not even telling what kind of it is. I okayed worrying that it may take longer. When I went to the B15 location to pick it up there was a big Ford SUV instead. I went back to ask, they said it is the SUV. No apologies

Pickup was bad. Hour long wait for car that was SUV when I ordered full size sedan. Return was bad. Budget lot overflowed out onto street with 10 illegally parked cars. Had to return car to Herz lot, which was beginning to overflow when I got there but was thankfully not inconvenient. I don't know if any of the other JFK airport car rental agencies is any better. The vibe I got from Budget is that it does more business than it can handle, is badly managed, is understaffed, or some combo of these.

Drove their car across the country The car ran very well, it was fairly new and it had a lot of newer cruise control features which made driving a breeze. It was very clean and did not have any bad odors in the car. The staff at both Queens New York and Los Angeles were all extremely helpful and friendly.

It was so dangerous and did not grasp on to the road so several times we thought we were going to crash as we had no control over the car. we would've gladly paid more to be safe

A big wate of my time.When I arrived to pick up the car I reserved a week in advance at 9:45 AM, it was unavailable because I was "late" for my 9 AM pick up time. Economy did not contact me and was unable to offer me any assistance. They also stated they do not take walk-ins only reservations, so it was easy to determine that a car had never been available that day. Two other customers present at the time with reservations also arrived to find that there were no cars available. An abysmal experience. I can not believe Economy can run a business this way.

I booked my Thrifty rental car two months ahead of time. I woke up at 4 AM to commute via public transportation to JFK in order to make my scheduled 6 AM pickup time. The staff were incredibly rude to all customers and stated that they were not going to be renting out any cars until at least 7 AM. By the time 7 AM rolled around, they had allowed many customers ahead of the individuals that arrived at 6 AM. There is no seating outside of the lobby or in the lobby so customers waiting for the staff to be ready were forced to sit on the concrete outside in December. My car reeked of cigarette smoke and had not been vacuumed prior to me being "handed" the keys. In fact, I was told to go wait at the end of the sidewalk for someone to hand me the keys but no one arrived so I went searching myself in the parking lot to find the car. I cross-referenced my receipt and the license plate then waited in the car just in case someone was coming to get me. No one did so I left. My only complaint after driving my dirty and smelly car off the lot was that the passenger's side air controls had gotten so hot at some point prior to me renting it. I could not figure out how to manipulate the air for my husband as the knob had melted off and fallen behind the vent. I extended my rental by a week so I have yet to do the dropoff portion but I am crossing my fingers that it is not as difficult as the pickup.

At the Thrifty pickup at JFK, there was only one worker on duty in the car service area. That meant that all three parties in line had to wait while he washed, sanitized and delivered one car, then went back to service the next.

Long wait to pick up Pre-paid rental car, and the first 2 cars assigned to me were then taken back as I was finally preparing to drive off the lot, due to deferred maintenance issues. Also, I was kept On hold for over an hour and then disconnected when calling for emergency roadside assistance.

I arrived at the rental car office 15-20 mins before it opened on Friday. I then waited in line for 2 hours to get to the front of the line. There were 3 people behind the counter, but never more than 2 working at any time. When I arrived at the counter at 7:45 AM, to pickup my car for my 6:00 AM reservation (I had a confirmation number, etc), I was told they would not honor my reservation because it was booked on a third party site less than 24-hrs in advance. After some back and forth dialogue, they offered to rent me an SUV but needed to charge me another $40/day. Truly awful experience and poor customer service.

First, Kayak should not allow bookings if the rental car company cannot give a car for bookings made the day of. I had to travel 2 hours total to pickup the car only for people at the Dollar Rental to not give me a car bc I had booked 4 hours earlier. They said the wait would be 7 hours to get a rental car. So I had to come back the next day where the ladies at the counter were so rude and unhelpful. Had to wait for my car to be ready for an hour!! And then the cad wasn’t even that clean. Horrible.

I made the reservation on Kayak and received an email confirming my booking. I then called Dollar customer service to confirm that they had my reservation and a car for me to which they said yes. I explained that I did not want to go to their counter if they had no cars. She said not yo worry. They had a car waiting for me. When I arrived at the Dollar counter, the worker rudely told me they had no cars available. How?!! I just called less than 5 minutes ago and they confirmed my reservation. Her response - that’s what they say but I don’t have any car for you. All the other car rental companies where sold out. Literally left us stranded! What a rubbish company with rubbish service. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Do business with them at your own risk!

Pick up and drop off was indeed super easy.I normally don't opt for prepaid fuel but when the question of prepaid fuel came up I said that would be convenient since I didn't know of a gas station nearby (I have never rented a car from JFK Airport before). It turns out there is a gas station one block away from the rental drop off. It could not have been easier to get gas. Seems like the nice guy at the desk could have pointed that out.

I was left stranded and the eight other rental companies were sold out of vehicles under 500 dollars. This was by far one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with, couldn’t even come up with a solution or give me and alternative car. Simply left me stranded. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE.

Car stunk of weed and drove like a pig. Two magic Trees and still the kids were complaining about the smell. Pick up was great although no toilet facilities for customers. Drop off was easy. The car was clean, but clearly the previous hirer had no respect for the no smoking policy, car had done 30000 miles was due an oil service just didn’t want to go up hills unless nursed. I’m no expert on Chev Impalas but it felt like it needed a tune to deal with any form of incline. The staff were all professional and courteous, but maybe this was a case of you pay for what you get and the luck of the draw.

I rented a car for $207 inclusive fee’s and tax, I had to pay for the car $255,17!!! Also unexpected a car insurance $ 23,99 a day total $ 239,92. I said to them my Visa platinum car will cover the insurance they didn’t excepted that. I find your offer at $207 very misleading and want to get the overpaid back from you.

Pickup was a nightmare. The shuttle is almost impossible to find from the B15 bus stop. I had to cross several 55mph roads and calling the 800 number was not helpful; it was someone from a call center who had no familiarity with JFK or how to actually get to the off-airport location. The person who helped me at pickup was terrible to deal with, arguing me about my credit card's damage waiver policy, and trying like a snake oil salesman to get me to pay for their insurance when my credit card's was a) free and b) offering better coverage. There was a cigarette smell when I got in the car and I could see where someone had burned the interior passenger seat. The car was not in great condition, with a failed defroster which was difficult for where we were traveling, and at some points outright dangerous. We had to travel on the highway with windows open to avoid the windshield fogging. The car hadn't been serviced recently and it pulled a bit to the right, and the suspension was not great. Didn't actually rent from ACE in the end; some company named Drivo was who we had to rent from using the reservation from Kayak. Two stars are for the ease of drop-off, and the very good price. Not sure now if it was worth it.

They didn’t answer the phone for pickup at the airport. They charged $100 more than they said they would. The employees were rude and the car had a whole bunch of warning lights come on about 1 hour before we returned it. When we mentioned it, they said “yeah it happens”.

i made a reservation online through kayak around noon & prepaid to pick the car up that night. when i got to the rental location, i was told i couldn’t rent the car using my debit card, which is the same card i used to make the reservation. sixt said i could only get a refund if i canceled 24 hour ahead of time. if i book a reservation at noon for a 6:30pm pickup on the same day, there is no way for me to cancel 24 hours in advance. my child & i are in flight from domestic violence, we had to move all of our belongings into a hotel on the 15th, it was the only opportunity we had to leave safely. sixt took 240 dollars from me, kayak took another 30. i spent 270 dollars & got nothing. i have about 30 dollars left to my name. i left an abuser in my home to be abused by sixt & robbed by sixt. i’m so disturbed that businesses are allowed to take hundreds of dollars from people living in poverty when NO SERVICE HAS BEEN RENDERED. i’m trying to keep myself & my child alive, sixt has bled my family dry in exhange for NOTHING & left me with no money to feed my child.

I booked an 11pm pickup. when I showed up they were closed and i was stranded without a car. No one to talk to over the phone and they still charged me for the rental. Eventual rented a car from Avis which is open 24/7. Why would you book and confirm a reservation for a time that their office is closed is beyond me. To add to the insult they charged me for the rental. Obviously, i disputed the charge with my CC.

Didn’t reserve my car. Traveled so far to pick it up and they didn’t have it. Extremely rude and unprofessional staff. They assume that by saying nasty things about customers in a foreign language in NYC of all places that customers won’t understand.

After waiting a while in line, the employee when I was checking in was very pushy to keep “adding” stuff to my rental - especially the insurance (when I already bought insurance through alliance) .. a $200 rental he was trying to push to a new total of $600. He just kept insisting even when I told him several times NO. That annoyed me a lot. Then I was told that the car I booked was not ready and he wouldn’t know when it was ready. But he told me if I upgraded to a midsize for another $60 it would be ready immediately. Overall the car itself was fine, but the experience there was not my favorite. I have mixed feelings about it and probably wouldn’t use them again.

My experience was terrible. An hour into the trip i see that my front left tire is losing air pressure constantly. I call the roadside assistance number who only pickup the phone after making me wait 30 mins. They finally send some road assistance. The mechanic realises that the spare tire is useless. Only good for 30-40 miles. I try calling drivo but they never pick up the phone! I had to pay the mechanic out of my pocket and buy a new tire! I wasted 2-3 hours doing this. I reached my hotel at 2am in the morning. I had to drive in pitch dark because I didn't want to lose the 300dollars i had paid to book my hotel. How can an agency not pick up the phone in the middle of the day! And not provide a spare tire for a 4 days trip! After i came back and explained this to the manager he refused to accept any mistake on his part.

Pick up and drop off was extremely quick and easy! We picked up our vehicle at JFK on 9/4 late in the evening and dropped off our vehicle back at JFK on 9/6 early in the morning and every single staff member was kind and helpful. I wish I would’ve asked their names to include in this review. Great customer service and extremely friendly staff members!

Bad wheel bearings - low tires alertThe car was available on time.The car got terrible mileage partially due to grinding wheel bearings, and needed air in tires- no wiper fluid. I performed the easier tasks of course. Due to my business constraints, I had to time to exchange the vehicle.
