The "maintenance required" light was on from the time we rented until we brought it back. We were told that it just wasn't reset. Also, tire pressure light went on. Maybe could pay more attention to maintenance.Reviewed 6 Oct 2022

I picked up the car for a weekend and after driving it, the steering was screwed up, warning lights were coming on, oil change needed. I called and they said they’d bring a new car and it took over 12 hours to get it. The new car was better, but overall, rough experience.Reviewed 1 Aug 2022

My car was double booked and the other customer refused to come inside with me to sort the problem out. Your booking platform allowed me to make a reservation for 11:pm. This Payless location *closes* at 11:pm. Nothing in the booking nor confirmation process mentioned the closing time nor flagged it as a potential problem. When we showed up a couple minutes after 11, there was nobody at the Payless counter. There was, however, a sign directing Payless customers to get in the *very* long Avis line and identify ourselves as Payless customers when we got to the front. That seemed reasonable: Avis *owns* Payless. Getting through the Avis line took nearly one hour. When we got to the front, the person staffing the Avis desk told us the Payless computer system shut down at 11:pm and there was nothing she could do to get us our car. All other rental counters staffed at midnight had no cars available. We took a $135 taxi out of the airport, then caught a ride to another airport the next day to pick up a much more expensive car from another company owned by Avis -- Budget. I am quite angry that: 1. Your booking system allowed a nonrefundable car reservation at a time the company was unlikely to be able to actually issue a car. 2. Payless put up a sign that made us waste an hour of our time standing in line for nothing. 3. Payless's parent company actually made money off of this fiasco, because it forced us to get a more-expensive rental from another of its subsidiaries.Reviewed 11 Jul 2022

I ran it through Palos but yet there was no person available at the booth when I went to pick up the car. I had to go through Avis. Upon return of the car, I asked for a refund as I did not use the toll box that had been sold to me for 25.99- again, Avis people instead off a Payless person- The representative helping me along with agents on either side of him who did we’re helping other clients decided to participate in the conversation about how that was silly of me to want a refund and that I would end up paying more for any tolls that Were incurred. When it was all said and done, he would not reimburse me the 25.99. Don’t be fooled by the low price- customer service stinks!Reviewed 7 Jul 2022

I liked the vehicle choice, for sure. What could have been better? The vehicle windshield had a small crack in it which I couldn't see when I picked it up at night, but was visible in the morning. On my trip I had to take it to get an oil change because the notification on the Nissan Rogue wouldn't stop. I went to Valvoline to get the oil change which was $80. Since I prepaid for the vehicle they couldn't credit me back I was told. Which isn't fair because the oil change should have been taken care of before I even picked the vehicle. The person who retrieved the car during my return was impatient in receiving my email address, which was understandable, but still was rude. The location was an Avis and Payless so there wasn't really a separation in who handled the return. All and all, the vehicle experience was good and safe, just the cracked windshield, oil change, and service I recieved when I returned the vehicle wasn't the greatest. I was told that I should have brought the vehicle back for an oil change, I was already in mid travel I'm not going to turn back and head hours away just to get an oil change.Reviewed 2 Jul 2022

First we didn’t know Payless is part of Avis and very hard to find out the counter until we saw it inside of Avis. Return experience is not good since the rep just scanned the car and checked the key but didn’t issue receipt or confirmation of final settlement amount. Still don’t know how it will be delivered to me. Nervous because they deposit the amount 2x of original booking amount for security purpose.Reviewed 25 May 2022
