Cons: This is a three star hotel and must be judged according to that expectation. There was nothing that I did not like. I simply note that the air cons are noisy but at least constant; you get used to it. Most important for me, the rooms are well insulated. I did not once hear a neighbor.

Pros: Stayed here for my wedding night. Had to book two separate reservations since the first night I stayed with my bridesmaids and needed two beds, then switched to a room with one bed. I wished the hotel reception was able to do that under one reservation but they said I had to do it under two. It was a bit annoying because I had to complete check-in twice but they were able to hold my bags and put them in the new room once it was ready. I love the Driskill. It's an iconic hotel in Austin that I've always wanted to stay at. There are great views of the City from the rooms and it's in the heart of downtown which makes it easy to get around and explore Austin.

Cons: The parking could have been a little better with signage for guests to park. Also, there was not really an area that you can drive up to and check into like most hotels, so you have to park first and then get a parking pass. The pillows were really, really soft and I couldn't sleep well with them. Which is the biggest thing that you go to a hotel for is comfort.

Cons: On several mornings we had to leave early (around 6:30). There was no coffee, and breakfast wasn't being served for another hour. I have never stayed at a hotel where coffee wasn't available even if breakfast wasn't served yet. There was no complimentary breakfast. Although the price for breakfast wasn't expensive, we were not able to use the money that we spent on breakfast because it wasn't ready by 6:30. On Saturday, when we got back to our room around 2, I noticed dried blood on the sheets. No one responded when we called the front desk. On Sunday, the maid service didn't stop by our room until well after 3. We had already gone out and we were coming back for a rest so we just had her give us towels. We had no idea that we would be forced to use your valet service which added over $120 to my bill. We were dissatisfied with the valet service as we had a wait a while for our vehicle on a couple of occasions.

Cons: There’s a large, ever-present group of fairly aggressive homeless people between the hotel and 6th street. I didn’t feel safe walking through them regularly and would have to go a block around them to get to places we’d want to go. I also put in a special request for my room when booking and it was approved by the hotel, but the request was not fulfilled.

Cons: When we checked into the hotel we were provided a room charge $200 more than the booking we had confirmed through your site. It took a manager and 20 minutes of waiting to get this cleared. We also had breakfast included per our reservation but the receptionist failed to mention this as well. The parking meter was also not working so we left without putting our room key in the slot because we didn't know how to make sure to exit without the parking charge confirmation. Another customer who was entering yelled out to us that the parking machine was not working and just to leave. When checking out we waited in line while several front desk employees were alone at their kiosk, and kept rudely telling us to "wait" (one actually put their hand up and waved us away) and when we finally were attended to, she answered the phone that rang because the policy is to "answer the phone first" over talking to the customer who is standing in front of them (but at least she was friendly as she said that to us). Your front desk receptionists need customer satisfaction training.

I was told that I was going to have to switch rooms the next day because the room they put me in was reserved for another guest even though they had me in the same room type as the rest of my stay. I asked if they could keep me in the room and they said no. The offered me a discount then the desk clerked talked to the manager and they decided to keep me in the same room for the duration of my stay. The desk clerk told me that he would no longer discount my night. He was extremely rude and had no customer service skills. He should not be working at a such a lovely hotel.

Water was running from the ceiling in the breakfast room. Business center was insufficiently equipped. Overall it was a bad experience

Beds were very comfortable with lots of pillows. Only complaint was the pullout sofa and blanket were HORRIBLE. I think if you are going to offer a suite with a pullout it should at least be a tolerable place to sleep.

Over all I wouldn’t want to stay in that branch of Hilton.

Why have a pool with a water fall and NEVER use it. Especially in the heat in July-August Unfortunately Austin has a bad homeless population which the hotel cannot control. But every time I left the hotel to the street I was approached by someone wanting a hand out. Which I did give some help but when you are there 7 days it gets to be annoying.

Cons: This is not about the hotel and/or with its administrator. I only want to make other customers aware that the city of Austin allows homeless to be in downtown and there are quite a lot of them near the hotel. I know it's a social-economic fact.

Cons: I booked online and paid almost $300 for 1 night stay where people were checking in and could get the hotel for $150 a night. I talked to the manager and he said there was nothing he could do. I could have stayed at a nicer hotel for that price. I was disappointed. I have stayed there before but with this experience i will never stay again.

Pros: The hotel itself was wonderful. It was in a great location near 6th Avenue which was where we spent most of our time. It was within walking distance from almost everything we wanted to do downtown. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The bathrooms immaculate. It was a very good experience for me and my friends.
Cons: The housekeeping took forever to get to our room. It was around 3:00PM before we got new linens and towels. The parking situation was a little bit confusing and the elevator required a room key to use but it was not explained to us. You can get into the elevator fine but when you select your floor you have to swipe over a sensor which was not clear. The location of hotel was ideal to downtown but it was also located right next to a Salvation Army and there were quite a few homeless people right down the street between you and downtown. It was easy enough to find an alternate route though.

Cons: It wasn't the best option to have valet parking only. There was a package of gum leftover in the room. There was hair on the walls of the shower and there were ants in the bed. The entry way concierge was very little help after explaining my question three different ways. Had dinner for room service one night and the hamburger wasn't cooked well. The pool water was cloudy and dirty.
