Cons: More guests would have been nice. Big open patio wasn't used by anyone. Felt like we were the only guests, which for some might have been ideal.

The design is striking and incredibly photogenic, with the building itself sporting colourful graffiti on the outside, and moody art, carved wood, and brass finishings on the inside. Pros: The room is a great value. Breakfast basics are included: white bread (gross) , Peanut butter, jelly, apples, oranges, vanilla yogurt, granola, Frosted Flakes, coffee and/or tea. Nothing fancy, but if you're really on a budget it works. Or you could make yourself something in their nice kitchen, just bring your groceries. The coffee house attached to the property is worth every penny. Great bar. It goes until 2am and the music can just barely be heard in your room. I was put in a room with 2 men, who woke me up when the bar closed at 2am. But thats Hostelling for you - I was up and showering at 7am and did my best to be quiet, but I'm sure I returned the favor. Very comfortable, very friendly. Loved it!

Pros: Breakfast. was above average. I really like that there were curtains over beds.
Cons: There is one open kitchen sink in every room (no separate bathroom). It means you can't use a shaver in the morning without waking everyone up, and whatever you do (dental floss, makeup, etc), you'll do in front of everyone. At least a privacy curtain would be necessary. When you register, they force you to sign a waiver hidden in the fine print: "By signing a registration form, I agree to hold Native Hostels Austin entirely free from any liability, including financial responsibility for injuries incurred, regardless of whether injuries are caused by negligence. By signing a registration form, I forfeit all right to bring a suit against Native Hostels Austin for any reason". This is abusive. In my 80+ hostels I stayed at all over the world, never did I have to sign such a waiver. When you've already arrived you don't have much of a choice but to accept it. Chances of a real injury are obviously very low, but in case of negligence (a bed falling on you, electrocution, whatever) they will happily wave the waiver you just signed. This needs to change.

Cons: The location isn’t great, particularly if you’re a female solo traveller. Austin as a city is sprawling, and while you can walk to the borders of the city in around five minutes, you need to pass through a highway underpass to get there, which also is the chosen location for a segment of the local homeless population. While I never had any trouble from these rough sleepers, I still never felt safe walking to/from the hostel. The Capitol is about a 25 minute walk away, and there’s also no grocery store close by - the closest is a Wholefoods about a 30 minute walk away. I also found that most of the people staying at the same time as me were all older and seemed to be professionals staying for work. It meant that during the day, the common areas were populated by people working on laptops, so the vibe was quite serious and quiet. The breakfast was heavy on the sweets (think yogurt and granola, fruit, and white bread with spreads) which was sufficient in killing the hunger cravings, but was sickly to have each morning. I would have loved some brown bread and cheeses or sliced ham to help break up the sweetness each morning. This hostel wasn’t bad, by any means, but considering the price for a hostel, my expectations were high, and this didn’t seem to be value for money. If it was a little cheaper per night it would align with what you get.

Cons: The property is in a good location geographically but there was a few homeless settlements nearby where you just had to be safer when walking through at night to get to the hostel. For those looking for a social hostel also, there is no hostel organised activities, however there is a bar out the front.

Cons: I really didn't like the check-in procedure. There is no staff at the apartment, therefore all the check-in had to be done via online or text/phone call. Even down to needing to upload your drivers license or text it to a phone number. Followed by reading out you credit card to someone you don't know. It felt like a scam at the beginning and it just felt very odd. Everything worked out in the end, but in the day and age of protecting your information, this was not good.

Cons: Millipedes in the apartment drove me crazy. Definitely did not walk around without shoes/slippers. . I notified the host and they made sure to send maintenance to spray, but it didn’t help. Thankfully we didn’t spend a lot of time in the room so I was able to deal, but still should not have been an issue for the price I paid. If you don’t like dogs, this also isn’t the place for you. Other residents are supposed to have them on leashes, but did not.

Wifi was very fast, and full kitchen means you can cook breakfast. I stayed in the co-ed dorm - very large with a nice outdoor balcony with a hammock. Bathroom is a bit dated, but works fine. First time hosteling in over 15 years, and I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

I didn't like that they would come in unannounced and without knocking or asking if anyone was about to use the bathroom or was still using it. There's no privacy. I didn't like how small the shower was in my room - the shower curtain kept getting friendly with me - it was annoying. I also didn't like their shower head, it wasn't powerful enough - I bought my own. I didn't like that I couldn't sit up straight on my bed - I had the bottom bunk.

Pros: The location was ideal to every part of Austin. The staff was very friendly and courteous including an incident where i may have not been able to get a room. The lobby is going under remodel construction which should make it grand. Does face a graveyard - which i really did not care - moot point because i was out for most of the day
Cons: When booking with Expedia/Hotels/com...call to validate; it seems hotel loyalty members get first preference.

Pros: The room was nice - what you expect from a Hilton.
Cons: I didn't appreciate at all that parking is charged in addition to the room, considering the price is already high. The water bottles in the room are also $3 each. Why is Hilton nickel-and-diming us after paying that much for a room? We arrived about midnight, and we could barely find anywhere to park. After making it to the counter, we were informed that we were illegally parked in Denny's parking spaces. Our parking permit, issued by Hilton, says that spaces with yellow lines are for the hotel, and white lines for Denny's (or vice-versa). How are we supposed to know that before checking in, and how can we see that in the dark? There is little to no signage in the parking lot.

Pros: Hotel was perfect location for event we were attending across the street.
Cons: Breakfast was over rated. If I had paid $11 for it I would be furious. First got there and it with an unexpected $18/day parking fee. The place had just had a major water leak and our floor looked like a war zone or trashy slum area. They finally got it cleaned up later in the evening. Offered to waive parking and offered one day free breakfast, but only after complaining. Had stayed here before and realize there were extenuating circumstances but felt like we were being treated like "crap" for booking through a third party and not directly.

Pros: Excellent customer service. Very nice staff. Front desk gave us an early check in at 8am and a late check out at 1pm. This greatly meet out needs as we had a very early flight into Austin and a late flight out.

Cons: I felt that the crockery especially the cereal bowls (during breakfast) need to be replaced...all the bowls are chipped and it just gives one a wrong impression of the place. The breakfast area was never particularly busy but for eg when I ordered tea.. I was given a pot of tea without a mug or milk!! Also I requested the fruit platter to be refilled and they said they had run out of pineapple ( it was only 9am!!)

Cons: Super loud and the hotel was dirty, the bed was uncomfortable, the AC was off and it was over 95 degrees in the room. At 2AM I woke up to banging and screaming at my door of someone trying to get in. I was terrified and I m never staying here again.

Cons: The place was EXTREMELY old!!!! The location of the hotel is horrible! It looks like a very unsafe neighborhood. I paid $103 to stay for the night, but it was so bad my friends and I opted to just drive back home.
