Most travelers can enter Panama, but there are restrictions. Travelers are recommended to have health insurance with COVID-19 coverage before arrival in Panama. Temperature screening is required for all travellers on arrival in Panama.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated visitors from New Zealand must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 hours before departing to Panama.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions

Unvaccinated travelers must have a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test result. Travelers arriving without a negative test or without a valid negative test must also take a COVID-19 test at the airport on arrival, at their own cost. IATA Travel Pass is not a valid proof of testing or vaccination.

Travelers may be selected for a random COVID-19 rapid test on arrival in Panama.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from New Zealand are not required to quarantine after entering Panama.

All travelers are required to complete an Electronic Affidavit (sworn statement) before boarding their flight to Panama. After filling up the document, travelers will receive a QR code that must be shown on their smartphones.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Panama must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 hours before departure to New Zealand.

Details and exceptions

Exemptions apply to the following:

1. Children who are under two years of age.

2. Individuals who can present a medical certificate verifying they have been examined no earlier than 72 hours prior to departure and have been determined to be unable to undertake a test for medical reasons but do not exhibit symptoms of COVID-19

3. Individuals with past (recovered) cases of COVID-19 who have a positive 72 hour or less test result, but have a medical certificate for showing that the individual is no longer considered by a medical practitioner to be infectious with COVID-19

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Panama will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering New Zealand.

Details and exceptions

Travelers to New Zealand from all countries, except eligible passengers from a quarantine-free travel zone (Niue and Cook Islands), must complete a 14-day stay in a managed isolation or quarantine facility.

Quarantine-free travel for Australian passengers are temporary suspended until further notice.
