We got a great deal from Kayak, but the car rental place charged us $200.00 to drop the car off in another state. I don't know if this is normal or they did that because of such the great deal we got from Kayak. Even with that, we feel we got the best deal in town!

Giving me a car that was 5 to 6 years old, dented up with scratches and mud/ dirt all over with a check engine light on, just to upsell me a brand new car for another $270 was hitting below the belt. Will never rent from fox again. Liked how the guy rub my shoulders and asking me to give him a good review when is up selling me. I feel I could’ve gotten a better rate on line through Priceline via Kayak for that car if I would’ve just pre-ordered it. My 576.00 package turned into over $ 1200. Thanks that will never happen again.

The check in person Ammna was very good, tho it wasn't clear that if I had returned the car with more than half a tank I would have been refunded for unused fuel. I thought any amount would be refunded. I returned with 1/3 of a tank. That's c$40 but hey. The car was quite old,had covered I think more than 160k miles as it had less on the click than on the service ticket on the windscreen in 2019. I also do wish you would see the final price even booking but Fox aren't alone by any means in this. Often the original price is more than doubled. The agent was helpful too re tolls

Drop off was amazing, paperwork/processing on the pickup was cumbersome and took a while. Not a big fan of the Chrysler product I rented, but the Fox rental service was good.

I like that after completing the paperwork, that you get to pick the car you want to rent/drive. What I don’t like is all the hidden San Francisco fees that California and San Francisco squeezes out of tourist to get money that has nothing to do with the rental.

Alamo did ok but their SFO location is NOT user friendly. I guess the opposite of that is something like ‘hassle-heavy,’ which is neither funny nor clever…but it’s the best I can do after moderate to heavy drinking.

overall great experience! i just think that the fees are far too high (not expressed in the original rate) and the Toll Pass convenience charge seems overkill. other than those value issues, we once again had a great experiences with Alamo and would rent from them again.

We requested an eight passenger vehicle but was given a seven passenger with no options for upgrade or swap out. The employees at pick up didn’t care or make any attempt to help find an alternative option. We were willing to drive to another location to swap out cars, but we weren’t given any options other than the car they had. What could have gone better? Giving us the car we reserved. We ended up needing to find an additional vehicle to continue our trip and doubling our expenses.

The agent first could not get my reservation then we’re u pick up car is so dark and the agent and I did not see the driver side front bumper had big gap to the side of front bumper. I did not get in to accident or got hit or hit on that side the bumper would be hanging or damaged there was none of that. Next time not going to be trust worthy I’m going to take pics and video and close examine.

We had to wait over an hour and a half at the Avis counter even though we had a reservation !! When we returned the car, we were charged quite a bit more than the contract! The checkin person, when we returned the car,charged us for over 1/2 tank of gas though we returned the car full !!!!! We had to see the front agent to get the charge corrected…. Another delay!

I don’t typically fill these things out, but this was the worst experience I’ve had picking up a car rental. The staff were all friendly and professional, but I waited in a line for 2 1/2 hours even though I had checked in earlier. I got to SFO at around 9:35, but didn’t leave until after 12. Every other car rental’s lines were moving smoothly. I doubt I’ll reserve from Avis again anytime soon. Again the staff was great and the car was good, despite someone clearly smoking in it. Waiting 2 1/2 ours is simply unacceptable.

When I was going to rent they added a $200 hold plus the entire cost that took me over my credit card max and it was the middle of the night so I couldn’t pay it off to clear the card. I asked if I could split cards, pay cash, use debit anything else to get the car. They had NO OTHER alternatives. I had a 6 year old and it was the middle of the night. And they were about to let me be stranded. Thank goodness chase took better care and extended an emergency credit line increase. I will never use them again!

We waited for over 2 hours to pick up a car that we verified the day before and they didn't have it, so they gave us a car that was also given to another customer and it was just a total dumpster fire... I will never rent from budget again to save the few dollars, because we didn't save any money as we were charged an additional day or $200 when we picked it up. Save time and sanity, don't ever rent with Budget again...

Your survey missed an important option: "n/a - did not pick up" When I arrived at the counter, there was a 2+ hour line at Budget. I was unable to cancel online with the confirmation number - the process Kayak deployed would require me to login with Hotwire and/or Budget. I was prompted to install an app at one point. From my POV, the complete and total failure chain included Kayak, Hotwire, and Budget. I eventually cancelled via phone. To be 100% clear, there is a 0% chance I use Kayak for a booking like this again. I will never take a chance of arriving at a destination where I must wait in an extended line. Ever.

Over an hour long line, had to go to a different company and rent another car - in order to make my meeting. Staff was slow and inattentive. Would like at refund, as I wasn’t able to use my car. The whole purpose of the trip, was to attend a meeting, and I could not accomplish that - given how slow and careless they were.

The car had a warning asking to be serviced. Called the agent , who asked me to go to the nearest budget location. Upon reaching the location, the terrible lady at belmont said she didnt have cars and asked me to go back to SFO airport. Went to the airport and had to wait for 43 minutes in line and found out that the person had closed my monthly contract and she was nice enough to give me the same rate but had to go through a lot of hassle. This is one of those things where every person I interacted with were nice , professional and doing their job , yet it left me wasting a lot of time and got expensive for no reason.

We did not receive the car we reserved, but we did get a quality substitute. We had to wait way longer in line than expected to pick up our rental. We did not have copies of our Budget Fast Track, so we waited for 45 minutes before we got our car. There were way too few attendants at the checkout stations for the number of customers in line. The car was clean, though there was a slight lingering odor of smoke, even after the thorough cleaning (I was informed, when we dropped off the car, that Budget uses very strong chemicals to thoroughly clean their vehicles, strong enough that the cleaning crew needs to wear highly protective gear to avoid injury). Even though renters are NOT ALLOWED to smoke inside these vehicles, they do anyway. Our return, however, was simple and went very quickly, without any issues.

I picked up late because flight was delayed 3 times. I was so grateful they hadn't closed for the evening. The part that bothered me was they give you a parking spot to go pick up your car. Nobody walks the vehicle with you to check for damage. You just get in and drive. It's not so much that it wasn't good just weird. The vehicle ran well the drop off was perfect. So overall a great experience.

The line at the Thrifty rental counter at the SFO rental car facility was absurd - over 50 people. After waiting for nearly 30 minutes, the same three customers were at the windows as when I stepped into line. I abandoned Thrifty and reserved a car through another agency. When I tried to cancel my Thrifty reservation through Kayak or the Thrifty website, all I received were error messages. I ultimately had to call Thrifty (a 20 minute experience) just to cancel my reservation.

There’s no point in making a reservation or paying in advance with this company as they don’t have to have a car ready for you at the scheduled time. We (and many other customers) waited three or more hours for a car we had already paid for and employees were not great at explaining the situation to us. Kind of seemed like they just expected us to gather information from the rest of the unhappy customers in line and then got frustrated when we asked for clarification. If you are on a deadline, absolutely do not book with Thrifty or Dollar.

I tried canceling my reservation because our trip was cancelled due to my mother in law passing away and was not offered a discount or credit. We are hoping to book the trip again in October but a credit towards a future rental would be much appreciated.

Had a hiccup at the desk when originally getting the contract paperwork. But the guy was polite and thorough and got the job done. The problem was the Kayak-PriceLine-Dollar interface. The car was great. Thankfully great gas mileage. no problems. The return was great. We'll see how well the toll card interface works when that bill comes around. Overall I felt I got a good deal on a good car and better than usual service.

We reserved and paid for a compact SUV. When we got to the counter at Dollar the customer service rep was very confusing, misleading and mentioned a few SUV options. We said any that are available. We then proceeded to the car and parked in the spot is a small compact, Chevy Sonic. This is not what we paid for and this was not going to work out for us. We went back to the counter and the same rep indicated that we paid for a "C Class" car. I showed her the itinerary with a picture of an SUV as well as the car type SUV. She said it would be $100 more for the car that we requested and paid for. I don't know if this is the way they treat reservations that are made through a third party. She had the dialogue memorized giving the impression that this was part of their scam. We decided to keep the Spark but this is not what we paid for through Kayak. This is how they get away with offering car rental through third parties so that they can make the money back. We will be going directly through the car rental companies in the future because it is apparent that his is how they make money that they share with Kayak.

The rental car was in good condition and the airport shuttle was fast.There is no way to drop off a car after hours and they do not explain or advertise this. No key dropbox or anything. The parking lot is locked and inaccessible between 10:30pm and 6am. Also, the phone numbers inside the rental agreement with Payless written clearly on the front direct you to the Budget renal company, who can't help you at all.

I was not able to get this car.I am unable to give a proper review because the rental company closed at 12:00 midnight and my delayed flight got in at 1:30 AM, because it was a hot deal, I couldn't get any refund, I wish there were a policy to help mitigate these situations.

The rental spot is NOT at the airport (unlike what was advertised) but they still charge airport fees (around $20). I was hung up on twice trying to get “courtesy” shuttle. Long lines—should have cancelled and rented from one of the actual airport rentals spots. Will not be renting from them again.

I liked Althea the car attendant. She was super friendly and helpful with my needs. She checked me in, took me to the car. Helped me with my suitcase. Showed me the little features about how to drive the car because I never seen the type of car dials before. She was all around cool. Give that girl a raise.

Car was dirty, dented, and overdue for an oil change.Was hard to see in the dark garage, but once you got into the sunlight you could see a few dents, and also how dirty the car was. Then, a few miles in the car started saying it was overdue for an oil change, that makes me wonder how well they check these cars over when it's already OVERdue! Not too thrilled about it.

We have rented from Sixt before and have been happy with everything. This time, we had to cancel. We were traveling and away from our computer so it was difficult to do this on line. We couldn’t find a simple way to “modify” our reservation, nor could we be assured that our reservation was, indeed, cancelled when doing it over the phone. When we were finally able to reach a real,person, and he said he was unable to cancel our reservation even though we had a confirmation number. A few days later, we were able to e-mail the company and that worked. Not an easy process.

The check in and the check out were seamless. Amazingly not a gazillion people in line so the wait checking in was just fine. Both persons - check-in, check-out couldn't have been nicer. I love me a good car so Sixt is the place to go if you want a BMW, Infiniti, etc.

Incorrect informationMy husband booked my car in advance online. When I arrived at the pickup at SFO, the agent took three times as long as the agents around her. In addition, she claimed the cost was going to be $170+ when we booked for a rate of $70. I brought this to her attention, but she claimed fees and taxes brought the cost up. She also said the car had to be returned that day by 6:00. We later discovered we could not return the car that day and that we would only be charged $90. Totally unnecessary worry thanks to an impatient and incorrect agent.

the car was fine, the rental experience was less tthe car was clean and the price was decentthe customer service, particularly at check in, was sadly lacking. I was in line for an agent when an employee told several of us to step out of line to use the kiosks. Since I had a reservation, I assumed this would be an automated process, so it made sense. But no, it was just a video conference line to other agents, who did not answer. So, we stood at the kiosks for 20 minutes, waiting while the people who had stayed in line got served. Not one of us at the kiosk even got a response. Finally, we went back into line- the back of the line- which by now was considerably longer. An agent spent a further 20 minutes fooling with the kiosks, instead of getting behind a desk to help the now stacked up customers. when we got to the desk- it took an inordinate amount of time, especially given that I had a reservation. I wanted to add a driver. The agent told us that the second driver would have to sign up at the exit gate (not true) - no one said anything about tolls, so when we crossed the bay bridge we were left wondering if we should pay cash, or the rental car would be charged.... directions to the car in the garage were abysmal- which I know sounds petty, but when your 71/2 months pregnant and schlepping luggage just makes a poor impression worse. returning it was easy enough, we'll see what happens with tolls. It was nothing catastrophic, but overall, it just left a bad enough taste that i'll try another agency for my next trip.

The car.The staff of SFO hertz led by the leader of the worst, the supervisor (name tag not worn) Shirley. I can imagine why she wouldn't wear a name tag because it makes it easier to identify her. She was dismissive, rude, condescending and unhelpful. Which is why her staff was busier taking to themselves than helping people. And when they do help people, they're a lot like Shirley. Bad. Very bad.

Stranded at 1 a.m.I didn't appreciate the Hertz company policy that allows you to reserve a car with a debit card only to be denied that car when you arrive with that card, a pre-paid credit card, and plenty of cash. The Hertz company should not allow you to reserve a vehicle with a formore of payment they won't accept. I am very displeased and will ensure that none of my family or friends will ever use this rental company. I will do everything in my power to vilify them to the fullest extent.Customer service was laughable, how can you have an office full of people at 1 in the morning when your only job is to look up a name, accept payment and tell them "the keys are in it, just go pick one." Ridiculous.

Overall nice vehicleThe facility to drop off at Mather Field office is only open 12:30 to 4:30 Your website fails to mention there is someone to take the key(s) and drop off the vehicle. I waited till 11:30. I could have dropped off several hours earlier. Still convenient and I'll know better later, but the frustration level can be high. NOTE I called and got someone from India and repeated the same as I read off your website. Knew I was going nowhere fast.

Communication. My rental was scheduled for 3pm pickup and I called at 2pm to see if I could pickup early but the lady that answered the phone said no it won’t be ready until 3pm. I get there at 3pm and she’s tells me she don’t have a van available for me and that she might have 1 the next day. Other company’s try and figure that stuff out before the pickup. Also they call if they think they might have a problem not wait til the costumer gets there and then tell them they have to Van available. And then I had to ask if I can get the minivan at least cause it’s there. They when we said we called at 2pm to confirm and talked to her she said No that wasn't me not sure who it was you spoke to.

Nothing - the van that was given to us was very old and had a mechanical issue ( Engine shakes and driving wheel shakes on turns) the car started showing this issue 2 hours into our drive to tahoe. I called the office and inquired if I can go to the nearest rental and swap vans for the safety of my family. The customer service was very unprofessional and couldn't find me any solution other than dropping the van at a different location without getting a new van and in top of all of that getting charged $100 for dropping the van at a different location.Please don't ever get a van from there. It's for your and your family's safety.

They did not have correct van when we arrived, charged 300 more, and van we did get smelled like urine. We will never use them again!

There was no USB charging port in the minivan. We got it basically with no gas and they wouldn’t give us any gas credit as we returned it with more gas. When I dropped it off, there was no return airport shuttle and I had to take a Lyft which took a long time. DEFINITELY spend a couple extra bucks and use the main rental companies.

The van worked as expected, pickup was easy.No one was at the site at the time I was supposed to drop of the van. There was someone at the back of the building cleaning vans and he said his boss told him if I customer came in he could take the keys. He also told me it would be able 30 min before someone came back. I couldn’t wait 30 min, so I left the keys with him. I also called and left a message to the number provided saying I was dropping the van off. A day later I received a receipt for that was $110 more than what I was quoted for the vehicle. I was charged extra for cleaning despite the fact that I vacuumed the van before bringing it back it. I’ve tried calling several times and left messages to despite the charge and not one ever answers and no has has called me back. I would definitely not recommend this company for rentals.

Photo showed a minivan..we got a mini busLow priceThe photo on the listing showed a minivan and we ended up actually booking a 12 passenger van that we couldn't park anywhere in the city. They had many unreserved minivans they could have given us but refused to let us use one without paying extra.

The car worked, and clearly the employees tryThe employees were kind, resourceful and worked hard. The car started, stopped and turned as expected.The location stinks-be sure to plan on the time it takes to get there from SFO. The building is hot and dour-I feel for the employees! The car was not clean. I would pay extra to get a car at the SFO rental center next time.

Poor shuttle pick up from airportIt should be clearly noted on the vendor website that this is an OFF SITE airport pick up. We waited 30 minutes for a shuttle pick up that fits 6 person max in a poorly maintained van. Additional customers were left behind for another 30 minutes for later pickup. The EZ rental car in other airport locations outside of San Francisco were unlike this branch in its service, location and overall appeal. We were deeply disappointed with our rental service at the San Francisco EZ Rental car. We would rather pay a bit more for a more convenient airport location and more piedessional service the next time we're in San Francisco.

A comfortable late model carThe pickup drop off required almost 2 hours since the location is another 5-8 miles from where other rental car companies are located. And once at facility there are only 2 agents who take care of a long line. They push upgrades like the tolls for the bridge without explaining alternatives. You can pay cash everywhere and do online payment for Golden Gate Bridge. So avoid the prepayment if you are not crossing the bridge several times a day.

Didn't have the car we reservedThey tried to make it right, they offered us a vehicle that would seat all 6 of us, but the cargo capacity was not sufficient. They were friendly, but in the end that's not helping us get on the road.Reserved a minivan and it was not available. We were not notified so we spent a couple extra hours getting to another rental place. Their location was pretty far from the airport. I am sure this saves them overhead, but the shuttle ride ate into the whole ordeal.

Worst car company in the world!The car was cheaper than anywhere else. Now I know why. I got a car with almost 50k miles on the clock, it was a wreck and was filthy. I hired my car for 3 weeks, so when I went back and asked for another one, it was refused. The worst thing if all was that the windshield had never been throughly cleaned, nor the wipers ever replaced, so everything it rained, I was blind driving! I tried to replace the wipers, but no Autoshop carried them. I had to throughly clean the windshield and wipers daily as there were several snow storms and I couldn't drive blind. I bought rain x to help me, but this car was dangerous. Also, the engine made rattling noises like it was running on no oil, and the gearbox had a mind of its own. To add insult to injury, when I went to return the car, there guys had moved yards! No effort to tell me when I picked up the rental, nor to phone or email. I was gobsmacked! Never, never rent from here, this is known as Ez rent a car, Advantage rent a car and Europcar. Walking is a better option!

Overall it was goodService was good and car was clean. The only thing i did not like about this place is the milage limit policy they have in place for local residents. The limit is 150 miles per day. I only needed it to go to and from work while my car was in the shop so it wasnt a big deal but now i know not to rent here for my next so cal trip.

Friendly, helpful staff, and efficient pickup and dropoff to and from the SFO rental car center. The Quattro was lots of fun to drive, with comfortable seats and great controls for comprehensive panels.I wasn't able to download the app (I'd changed my iTunes password and hadn't needed it on the phone for several months), and the website interface for a mobile device was sometimes not as intuitive as it could be.

Easiest car rental experience ever.Rented in San Francisco ... They texted to check in with me day before arrival and day of departure to ask questions and give me info I needed. I just texted back info ... they couldn’t have been more helpful or seamless. I wish we could use them in Denver, but the prices were too high for the weeks we need it!

Had an accident (my parked rental car was hit) and NU Car was zero help a) getting their undriveable vehicle back to the SFO location, from Sonoma--75 miles away, and b) when I protested charges like daily rentals fees for a useless vehicle and being charged for gas for the same useless vehicle, they have gone underground. They cannot be contacted. Have a phone log of over an hour, and 10 different calls, to the customer no-service line until I gave up. Have submitted an email complaint that they are ignoring. Don't bother calling Expedia (their parent company) unless you booked through them. There were no help either.

On the return flight it was efficient. The pickup, however, was a joke. I so wish I had gotten this guys name behind the counter. There were 6+ people waiting and two at the counter. I asked if there were others who could help because the two employees were taking their time visiting while we were all standing in line. I say visiting because they were chatting about their nails etc. The pick up from the airport took 30 minutes for anyone to get us and another 30 minutes to get to the pick up location. So standing there watching useless rhetoric wasn’t helping. After I asked if there was someone else that could help, the employees just looked at me and never said a word. Then The man said to me “Avis has a three hour wait at the airport, this is nothing.“ I said that doesn’t excuse not having enough help here. Then another gentleman came up to the counter to work, and the first employee tells the gentleman to slow down and take his time with the next person in line because I had complained, and then they both looked at me. I knew exactly what they said and I told him I did. He just kind of shrugged. The gentleman that we eventually got was very kind and efficient. But the first employee was definitely making sure that he didn’t get us as his client. The whole experience from the airport to the pick up location was awful. We couldn’t call for pickup because the answering machine was full. I won’t do this again.

The car was great. The price was fair, and much better than I was getting from other companies. The pickup and drop off require taking a van. Pickup at the counter wasn't too horrible as there was a short line, but it would be nice to do more on line and then just sign and pick up the car. The people working at this location were all helpful, and there were no surprises (as yet) with the rental. All in all, it was a good experience.
