North Macedonia entry details and exceptions

North Macedonia citizens and Foreign citizens can enter the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia provided that they present any of the following:

    - certificate / confirmation for immunization (vaccination) against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, i.e. administration of at least two doses of vaccine against the infectious disease COVID-19;
    - certificate / confirmation for having recovered from COVID-19 in the last 45 days, counting from the day of recovery;
    - medical certificate with negative result from RT PCR SARS-CoV-2 test, made 72 hours before entry to the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia or;
    - negative result of a rapid antigen test, made 48 hours before entry to the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated visitors from New Zealand must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 for RT-PCR (NAAT) and 48 for Antigen (quick-test) hours before departing to North Macedonia.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Children/teens who are 18 years old and below are exempt from test requirement.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from New Zealand are not required to quarantine after entering North Macedonia.

Travelers are required to quarantine at their own expense for a period of seven days in case they are unable to present a certificate of vaccination, certificate of recovery or COVID-19 negative test result.

After 5 days of quarantine at the earliest, travelers can get a PCR or antigen test. If the test is negative, travelers do not need to quarantine further.

Travellers returning from North Macedonia must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to New Zealand.

Details and exceptions

Exemptions apply to the following:

1. Children who are under two years of age.

2. Individuals who can present a medical certificate verifying they have been examined no earlier than 72 hours prior to departure and have been determined to be unable to undertake a test for medical reasons but do not exhibit symptoms of COVID-19

3. Individuals with past (recovered) cases of COVID-19 who have a positive 72 hour or less test result, but have a medical certificate for showing that the individual is no longer considered by a medical practitioner to be infectious with COVID-19

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from North Macedonia will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering New Zealand.

Travelers to New Zealand from all countries, except eligible passengers from a quarantine-free travel zone (Australia, Cook Islands and Niue) must complete a 14-day stay in a managed isolation or quarantine facility.

Quarantine-free travel in New South Wales and Queensland are temporary suspended until further notice.
