COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated visitors from New Zealand must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 for RT-PCR (NAAT) and 48 Antigen (quick-test) hours before departing to Moldova.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions

Unvaccinated travelers must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result taken a maximum of 72 hours before boarding their plane or a COVID-19 rapid antigen test result taken a maximum of 48 hours before departure to Moldova. It must be printed in Romanian, English, French, German, Italian, or Russian. Travelers without a test result must self-quarantine for 14 days on arrival. Travelers under the age of 6, travelers in transit that don't leave the transit zone, holders of a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a COVID-19 recovery document in Romanian, English, French, German, Italian, or Russian, persons traveling for medical treatment, or humanitarian reasons, students traveling daily and with proper documentation and cross-border workers are exempted from this requirement.

Visitors from New Zealand are not required to quarantine after entering Moldova.

Details and exceptions

Unvaccinated travelers who don't have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result prior to boarding must self-quarantine for 14 days on arrival in Moldova. Travelers can take a COVID-19 PCR test on day 7 of quarantine and end quarantine if the test result is negative.

Travelers under the age of 12, travelers in transit that don't leave the transit zone, holders of a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a COVID-19 recovery document in Romanian, English, French, German, Italian, or Russian, persons traveling for medical treatment, or humanitarian reasons, students traveling daily and with proper documentation and cross-border workers are exempted from this requirement.

Travelers, in order to attend any show, concert, festival, theater, cinema, concert hall, nightclub, dance floor, and other venues and activities in Moldova, must have one of the following documents: <p>-A negative COVID-19 PCR test or an antigen test</p> <p>-A COVID-19 vaccine certificate</p> <p>-A recovery certificate from COVID-19 in the previous 6 months</p> <p>-A COVID-19 antibodies certificate, valid for 90 days from the exam date.</p>

Travellers returning from Moldova must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 hours before departure to New Zealand.

Details and exceptions

Exemptions apply to the following:

1. Children who are under two years of age.

2. Individuals who can present a medical certificate verifying they have been examined no earlier than 72 hours prior to departure and have been determined to be unable to undertake a test for medical reasons but do not exhibit symptoms of COVID-19

3. Individuals with past (recovered) cases of COVID-19 who have a positive 72 hour or less test result, but have a medical certificate for showing that the individual is no longer considered by a medical practitioner to be infectious with COVID-19

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Moldova will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering New Zealand.

Details and exceptions

Travelers to New Zealand from all countries, except eligible passengers from a quarantine-free travel zone (Niue and Cook Islands), must complete a 14-day stay in a managed isolation or quarantine facility.

Quarantine-free travel for Australian passengers are temporary suspended until further notice.
