COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated visitors from New Zealand must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 96 hours before departing to Egypt.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions

All travelers, including Egyptians are required to present a negative PCR test taken at most 72 hours before departure of the last direct flight to Egypt. However, travelers arriving from Japan, China, Thailand, North America, South America, USA, Canada, London Heathrow, Paris, and Frankfurt, the test and certificate extends to 96 hours before departure of the last direct flight to Egypt due to the length of travel time.

All recovered passengers travelling to Egypt with one shot of vaccine must present a negative PCR test prior to arrival even if they have their certificate of vaccination.

Travelers must present paper copies of the test results with QR code. Digital copies will not be accepted.

Children under the age of 6 are exempt from test requirement.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from New Zealand are not required to quarantine after entering Egypt.

Travelers who are tested positive with COVID-19 while in Egypt are required to quarantine for 14 days.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Egypt must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 hours before departure to New Zealand.

Details and exceptions

Exemptions apply to the following:

1. Children who are under two years of age.

2. Individuals who can present a medical certificate verifying they have been examined no earlier than 72 hours prior to departure and have been determined to be unable to undertake a test for medical reasons but do not exhibit symptoms of COVID-19

3. Individuals with past (recovered) cases of COVID-19 who have a positive 72 hour or less test result, but have a medical certificate for showing that the individual is no longer considered by a medical practitioner to be infectious with COVID-19

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Egypt will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering New Zealand.

Details and exceptions

Travelers to New Zealand from all countries, except eligible passengers from a quarantine-free travel zone (Niue and Cook Islands), must complete a 14-day stay in a managed isolation or quarantine facility.

Quarantine-free travel for Australian passengers are temporary suspended until further notice.
