Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
"There is not any form of entertainment. Other airlines offer in flight movies or shows at the customers use. You get one free hour of wifi that gets you half way through a movie during a 4 hour flight."
Pros: "Crew was friendly and efficient. A plus"
Cons: "Having a pilot there on time. Having the yellow back support for the plane so we could exit the plane from the front."
Cons: "Refundable tickets"
Pros: "Excellent service"
Cons: "All good"
Cons: "Social distancing ( one’s seat apart)"
Pros: "The flight"
Cons: "Social distancing. Caught covid on the plane back"
Pros: "Service and overall cleanliness etc. was very smooth, good and clean. I sat in seat 1A both ways and as the first person to get on and off the flight found the process well laid out, easy, clean and smooth. I also got to witness the boarding process from inside while seated. Very professional and courteous all the way. The first class cabin was sparsely filled with ample space between us and based on how many people I saw getting on, I think the rear cabin must've been sparsely filled as well. More on the comfort aspect in the "what would have been bettter section" ... in short, the seats are the weakest link in the chain."
Cons: "My only gripe is about the seats fitted in first class for this Alaska Air leg (JFKSFO). Like most, my travel frequency has dropped so much that I can finally afford to pay full fare first for the few times I do need to travel. I expect that this will more likely be the norm than not and hope/expect that more among us who can afford to pay extra for the additional comfort, do so. The airline industry will need to keep that segment to get ahead of this seismic shift in travel patterns that 2020 has brought upon all of us. I was hoping to just sleep through it. I normally sleep well/easily on flights (at times, "too well"!) but could not do so on this leg. The seats in first class are just not meant for sleeping and are thus limited in their positioning ... brief napping is the best you can do - carry your entertainment/work or plan on meditating while fully awake. The base is for all intent and purposes, immovable (maybe a couple of inches back and forth at best). There is no concept of a foot rest in the design. The back locks into one of two positions - a vertical one for take-off/landing and a second one tilted about 15 degrees or so. That makes it impossible to stretch the body out while fully supported - so hard to go into relaxed/deep sleep for those who wish to do so. The front passenger seat of a common car offers more for a five hour road trip - something to ponder on, eh? Upgrade the seats ...the extra investment will pay for itself quickly in this age of reduced travel as you'll attract more of those who are lucky to be able to pay a little more to fly in comfort for the few times that they need to. Additionally, sleeping passengers are often the easiest/cheapest to service!"
Cons: "NO social distancing in the middle of a pandemic????!!!!!????"
Pros: "Really good in flight service"
Cons: "Had to change gates multiple times before boarding"
Pros: "The crew was good. The problem was our Qantas flight from Auckland New Zealand, to Sydney, Australia, to San Francisco, to Seattle didn't sync with Alaska Air. We arrived in San Francisco after a very long flight. We had gotten our boarding passes in Auckland. When we went to board in SF, there was a glitch and they wouldn't let us board. It took a long time to get that fixed. We missed our flight (with our luggage on it), and had to wait several more hours. Plus Alaska Air had cancelled a flight mid morning and the trickle down result was many people were stuck and waiting on flights. Then we had to wait for a crew to come, then they found something wrong with the plane so had to get in a new plane. It was a long and hard day for everyone."
Cons: "I don't know how you sync airline tickets but if they had synced as they were supposed to, none of this would have happened."
Pros: "Love the entertainment options with my own device, food, and power at the seat"
Cons: "Entertainment was disrupted. Departure was delayed by delayed departure of the previous flight without enough explanation to those of us waiting to board"
Pros: "First time flying with Alaska, and I am very pleased!!"
Cons: "Could not ask for a better service!!"
Pros: "The crew was great, the plane was clean and updated, the in-flight entertainment was good."
Cons: "On both of my Alaska Airlines flights we took off later than scheduled, by over 15 minutes. It could have been due to the congestion at LAX. And the seats were comfortable if not a little cramped. I also wish we would have been offered adult beverages on my late flight into SFO -- helps for sleep."
Pros: "Comfortable and relaxed cabin"
Cons: "Friendlier crew as no smile and pleasantries"
Pros: "Movie options and healthy food"
Cons: "No worthy"
Cons: "Flight delayed. Delayed. Delayed. Seat changed without notice. Flight attendants were a bit rude."
Pros: "Clean environment"
Cons: "Gluten free snacks"
Cons: "Need to turn off lights. Being under a florescent light for 4 hours sucks. Turn it off. Let me sleep."
Cons: "The captain never turned off the seatbelt sign and the crew had the carts in the aisles for 75% of the flight so it was very difficult to go to the bathroom"
Pros: "Yes crew was amazing"
Cons: "Best domestic USA airline"
Cons: "Flight took off 45 min late due to problem with the plane door. Seems like it could have been fixed before we were all sitting on the plane."
Pros: "The boarding was very smooth"
Cons: "The crew didn’t look happy The coffee was cold didn’t have enough creamer and water!! The flight attendant looked really mad serving it"
Pros: "I like the idea of allowing pre-boating for families with small children or elderly parents to some extent"
Cons: "I did not like that the airline allowed more than 1-2 people to accompany 1 small child when pre-boarding. I happened to be able to go in with the general boarding but was one of those who was first in line within this group. My seat which was 5C already had no overheard room!!! It appears that 1 child was accompanied by 4 adults when they pre-boarded and in addition to their carry-ons, they put their foldable stroller, backpacks and totes in the overhead bin!! The airline announced a request for people to leave the overhead bin spaces for bigger carryons but does not enforce it. Flight attendants should not feel uncomfortable actually asking to whom the backpack or tote belong to and tell passengers to put those under their seats. Somehow, passengers need to be educated on proper etiquette. Also, pre-boarding should only allow 1-2 people to accompany a child or an elderly person. Pre-boarding should not be taken advantage of by all adults traveling with those needing it."
Cons: "I don't normally leave reviews, but words really can't describe the nightmarishness of what should have been a quick four hour flight from San Francisco to Washington. Seats for my wife and I were not where I had reserved. Plane had one working lavatory for a cabin of 150 economy passengers. This resulted in a line that stretched the entirety of the single aisle of the plane for the majority of the flight. The second toilet simply had a piece of paper with sharpie that read "DO NOT USE!!" There were two attendants, one of whom wore a t-shirt and was mostly indistinguishable from the passengers. Didn't get so much as a cup of water until over two hours into the four hour flight. No snack, but that's the least of my complaints really. The attendants spent most of the flight in the back of the plane discussing their new vacation lottery and where they were going to go out drinking when we landed–I know because the rear of the plane was where I ended up, forced to smell the single working toilet, in a seat that didn't recline."
Pros: "Love that they have free movie choices and free earphones. Also, loved the menu for drinks and food!"
Pros: "Friendly employees, smooth flight and great landing. Great price, fair baggage fees and also was allowed a free carry on. In flight snacks and entertainment options were nice too. This was my first time on your airlines and I will for sure be flying with you again in the future."
Cons: "Flight was delayed"
Cons: "In the SF airport, your crew accepted me to pay for $25 for putting my suitcase into the plane. But then, she mentioned that the flight was delayed and there was no way that I can made my connection from LA to Indianaplis. So I was given a boarding pass with my suitcase ($25 paid) only to LA. The front desk asked me to try other ways when I arrived LA to see what can be done. When I entered into the gate, your CS changed my flight to UA after I have presented my case. However, I had to pull the suitcase out from Alaska, paid another $25 to United and started the trip all over again. All the while, your crews expected me (an alien from Asia) that I should have known every thing get it through, or to claim my suitcase charges. I am really disappointed for the lack of understanding. To you, it may be something happened so common everyday. To me, I was totally lost to handle this."
Pros: "Everyone is so nice. Easy & reasonable price."
Pros: "On time"
Pros: "free drinks"
Cons: "Slow and disorderly boarding at SFO"
Pros: "That the problem was eventually fixed."
Cons: "I arrived at the SFO at 715. I checked in and went straight to my gate. After sitting in the gate area just a few minutes, the women at my flight desk announced a delayed flight(flight would depart at 10 instead of 855) The asked that passengers come retrieve their meal vouchers. She checked my boarding pass and I went and ordered myself dinner and returned to sit down close to 9pm. I waited for the screen to change for the new flight information but it never did. The terminal was busy with music and basketball finals.lost of mumbling announcemrnt so I kept checking my flight screen and it still had the original flight. I sat waiting. All of a suddent the tv changes and it’s a different destination??? I got up and asked why my flight wasn’t posted and she told me ‘sweetheart your flight left 20minutes ago.’ I was shocked. How could this happen? She informed me i’d missed my flight that was never delayed. I was so tired and worried and she kept calling me sweetheart. Telling me there were mo more flights but that she’d put me on a 6am the next morning. With my disability I was so worried I pushed and pushed and spoke to both counter airling people. Finally, I got mad and she put me on united. I am so upset about the whole ordeal. That was a surreal awful experience that had me crying on the way home."
Pros: "I liked watching the fact that I was able to finish a movie that i began on a previous Alaska flight. I’m trying to reach towards MVP, so I was unfortunately disappointed in other aspects."
Cons: "Well other than the fact that the flight was delayed by two hours, I was given incorrect info. When I asked the staff member at the gate about what group I was boarding with, he told me to line up with the first group only to be asked to turn around when I reached the front. Also my seat did not recline back and it wasn’t a seat up against a wall. I’m leaving the plane with a sore neck."
Pros: "All good with Alaska and Virgin America"
Pros: "The crew were great, security at the airport took over an hour to get through so I arrived at the gate 10minsbefire takeoff. The crew were great in getting me on board and checking my luggage was still there t"
Pros: "Terminal 2 in SF is great...whole vibe plus food and seating options are top top...SeaTac needs to up their game feels makes it feels like a food court at a subpar mall."
Cons: "Wish there was in seat inflight entertainment like Virgin America."
Pros: "The attendant who helped me was extremely helpful in arranging for me to be on the next flight to Portland, out of San Jose. She called and arranged for a shuttle to pick me up in San Francisco and bring me to San Jose at no cost, and provided me with a flex ticket so that if I missed the next flight I could be on the subsequent one. (I did in fact make it -- just barely -- onto the 11:15 flight out of San Jose, so when all was said and done I landed in Portland about three hours later than originally planned. As it was a very short trip, I'm quite glad that I only lost the time that I did.) Thank you, Diane (Diana?), for all your help."
Cons: "I had originally been scheduled for an 8:45 am flight out of San Francisco. As I was leaving for the airport at 6:30 I received a text saying that my flight had been delayed until 10:08. I ended up arriving at the airport around 9:00 and making it over to the service desk around 9:20, at which point I was told by one of the attendants that the flight had left at 9:18 and I should have been at the airport two hours early. There was no acknowledgment by this particular attendant that I had been given wrong information by the airline that had resulted in my missing the flight."
Pros: "it made it on time.... we travel / fly a lot. First time with Alaskan an was far from impressed"
Cons: "All out of food... morning flight an no warning or anything g. We could have ran an got something before boarding started .... they drive the cart by with what I guess... the only 2 options of each category for the first 10 people... to then say... o sorry we have nothing.. An no compensation for it but sorry.... do u a humus pack for 8 bucks.... then one second later when my wife decides she wants it... they say they just gave away the last one... it was redic. Not to mention weren't even all the way in the back Glad to see a few people up front able to eat..."
Cons: "The landing at SFO was very hard and a couple of was made very scared startled sounds!!!!"
Pros: "Missed my flight at it was rescheduled for $25 without asking a questions"
Pros: "The aircraft was comfortable. I just had a standard coach seat and it was as roomy as other airlines premium economy seats. Alaska airlines had reasonably priced food and drinks, and the entire flight crew was friendly and professional. I also liked the free GoGo texting feature."
Cons: "For some reason the airplane left the gate about 40 minutes late. It was also very difficult to hear the announcements from the flight deck. The only announcement that came through loud and clear was the spiel for the Alaska Airlines credit card."
Pros: "The in flight cookies were deliscious"
Cons: "I arrived to my gate about a half hour before boarding was set to start. An employee greeting me recommended I use the restroom because the gate was down an elevator and in a portion of the airport that did not have accessible restrooms or food options. She cautioned against returning late later than ten minutes before boarding. I returned about ten minutes before the scheduled boarding, only to be told there would be a delay, which wouldn't be an issue except that it took over an hour and sounded like a standard, foreseeable safety process due to the plane being out of the country prior to our flight. Then we were shuttled to the plane on a frigid bus, which at one point stopped so suddenly several passengers and baggages were sent to the floor. And then, after finally taking off, the in flight wifi did not work. After landing in Portland, there was a 45 minute delay because "a vehicle is parked in our gate." Ultimately, we flew safe and sound, but the discomfort caused by the cold bus transports, poor bus driving, foreseeable delays, and a parked vehicle was really unacceptable. After this experience, it will be hard to choose Alaska Airlines in the future."
Pros: "The flight crew was good, and the flight was quick once we got on the plane - which was 1 hour 45 minutes after we should have!"
Cons: "I got on the second leg of a flight from Seattle to Palm Springs at San Francisco. First, the flight arrived an hour late. Passengers from Seattle said that the loading crew somehow dented the wall to the luggage area (?) and they had to inspect it before flying. When it finally got to SFO, we boarded the plane at first, and then had to deplane back into the airport because they had (over?)filled the wrong fuel tank. So they had to empty that tank and fill another I guess? Don't know if the tank they filled was on the other side of the dented luggage area. The announcements from the desk were puzzling, and tended to be every 10 minutes telling us to wait 10 minutes instead of giving a good estimate so we didn't need to stand at the gate the whole time. After about 50 more minutes we boarded again and the plane took off OK. But there needs to be serious improvement in communication between the crew on the ground (gas & luggage etc) and the pilot and the desk crew, and between all of them and their paying customers."
Pros: "Boarding was efficient, seat was comfortable. I appreciate that food and drinks were offered often."
Cons: "One particular flight attendant purposely ignored me when I tried to ask for cream and sugar for my coffee which she did not offer when handing out drinks. Then she looked right at me twice as I tried to give her my garbage which she was collecting, but she ignored me again and left me holding my garbage until a different flight attendant came much later and took it without incident. It made me wonder if it was because I looked Asian- she was helpful and polite to the white women next to me. I was polite and was not being difficult in any way. I'm half white, but was often treated like this in Illinois when I was growing up. She should have been professional and if she had I would have rated the trip as excellent."
Pros: "Service was solid. I liked the $12 voucher to use at the airport while waiting for 2.5 hour delayed flight."
Cons: "2.5 hour delay"
Pros: "Service was excellent as always. I was cold and reluctant to say anything. Seemed like lots were asking for hot drinks and bundled up so the stewardess asked the pilot to crank up the heat. (No one had requested this!) At that moment I realized, many of us are afraid due to recent things on the news. I am a frequent and long-term traveller so if I felt it, you can be sure others do too. It is an industry problem, not your fault, but Alaska has to address it. Even if people don't know that they are angry or afraid, they are going to be reactive--aggressive or passive and/or resistant.... I would encourage you to bring the issue to the surface and remind your travellers on every flight that they can expect excellent service, pleasant responsiveness. Say something or do something that gets at the idea that the Alaska staff is protective of each passenger. One idea would be to have the stewardess remind people of the call light and encourage passengers to use it if they have any questions or concerns, or come see them in the back when it is safe to leave the seat."
Pros: "Nothing. I didn't take flight due to punishing re book procedure that Alaska employs to basically steal money from it's customers."
Cons: "They weight the value of 1st leg much higher than the return AND they want to charge you $125 change fee. My grandma passed away and I needed to reschedule my itinerary. Alaska stuck to their policies (you know, those pages of microscopic text that is written by lawyers for sole reason of screwing the customer.) I just felt really abused; told them to keep the useless "credit". I booked with Delta. At what point does a company forget who they are supposed to be serving? Perhaps the people that are actually giving you money and keeping you in business?"
Pros: "The prices were decent and the personnel at the airport check in counter were friendly and helpful. The flight was short but it was nice to have the seat-back chargers to recharge my phone."
Cons: "The onboard crew seed a little stiff. They were very selective - the two flight attendants in first class & coach - with whom they greeted good morning / hello. I watched this from my seat in disappointment. I needed to ask for a seat extender as I'm currently recovering from surgery and needed a little room around the bandages and I had to ask several times even though there was not a lot of pre-flight activity. They were standing around in the aisle. I make note of this type of behavior because I fly frequently for work on a variety of airlines and this is my first experience with Alaska Air."
"Crew was super helpful storing my bag, seating people, etc And now they’ve started thanking their Delta frequent flyer members !! Two crew came to find me and thanked me by name"
Pros: "On time and comfortable."
Cons: "Had unknown jump grade to much better seats No explanation given Too bad it wasn’t on a 6 hour flight"
Pros: "The boarding was quick and the plane departed early."
Cons: "I had an exit row seat (21G). The seat felt like a church pew and the right armrest was lower than normal since it was mounted on the exit door. This was by far the most uncomfortable flight I've had. My back started to hurt even before the plane took off."
Cons: "It was the last row, could not sleep on it"
Pros: "We landed safely"
Cons: "Out of everyone’s control Mother Nature"
Cons: "Loved it!"
Pros: "I was moved up to comfort instead of main cabin."
Cons: "The wifi didn’t seem to be working on the flight even tho it said it was equipped."
Pros: "Cleanliness. Safety. Friendly."
Cons: "Delightful experience except at SFO checkin."
Pros: "Crew was awesome!"
Cons: "The boarding did not go on time. An announcement about why would have been nice. Still made it on the flight on time."
Pros: "Covid safety protocols and people following was excellent."
Cons: "Serve alcohol :)"
Cons: "This plane was not appropriate for social distancing, I would not have booked this flight if I knew we wouldn’t be able to keep a distance from other people."
Pros: "Crew was solid."
Cons: "Don’t change my seat. Not on time. No food. Luggage with legally checked firearm sent to the wrong airport."
Pros: "Same crew and great experiments again"
Pros: "Kosher snacks! Thank you! Very safe and controlled Covid procedures. Made me feel safe."
Pros: "Very controlled and safe Covid procedures. Outlets and screens at every seat."
Pros: "Felt very clean and so glad they are not selling every seat"
Pros: "Crew great....moved passengers around near us for Covid related separation."
Cons: "Cramped.....too many seats in too small of a plane....I'm 6ft / 190 lbs"
Cons: "Zero PPE or social distancing by crew"
Pros: "It’s been awhile Since I’ve flown delta and omg they truly blow every other domestic airline out of the water hands down. And I’m flying basic economy. Impressed. Bravo Delta"
Pros: "great everything!"
Pros: "It was all good glad the last leg of the trip was pleasant."
Pros: "A box was under my feet, not sure what it was. A part of plane! ATL - EZE uncomfortable Crew great in spite of ongoing turbulence!"
Pros: "Nice crew"
Cons: "No leg room for 6’6” person."
Cons: "No sandwiches for sale just snack boxes"
Pros: "The fight was very professionally carried out."
Cons: "The gate agent hurried ineffectively to board our slightly delayed flight (around 10 min). She left open the Priority Lane and boarded all pax there, having to step 4 steps to the left to scan every boarding pass."
Cons: "Smooth on time flight"
Pros: "Terrible seats! It keeps getting worse."
Cons: "Timing of leaving the airport! It was delayed and I missed my international flight"
Pros: "Everything was good except boarding was delayed several times and even after everyone had boarded. We arrived 2 hours behind originally scheduled time as the result."
Cons: "Delta needs to try harder to minimize flight delays."
Pros: "Quick boarding process"
Cons: "Wifi stopped working halfway"
Cons: "Flight was delayed, for unkown reasons."
Cons: "The sits are uncomfortable"
Pros: "Fast boarding, friendly crew, and comfy seats"
Cons: "It was pretty bumpy and a few times we changed altitude very quickly"
Pros: "Nice Airbus plane. Due to thunderstorm in Dallas, pilot not able to leave DAL to come to fly the plane in LAX on time. We delayed around 45 minutes. Otherwise, crews were professional and efficient. Excellent movies choices."
Cons: "Boarding announcement in SFO was bad. No one can hear what the agent announced. Random sequence of boarding with confusion. In LAX, we supposed to go to a different terminal by a bus. There is no guidance out of gate to assist passengers that transfer to get on the right gate on the right bus. In AUS, there is not any announcement for luggage belt. An announcement would be helpful to new arrivals to this airport."
Cons: "Plane journey awful. Speaker had a loud buzzing noise all the time so never heard a word bad landing. Rattling plane Very cold."
Cons: "Over an hour delay before boarding due to supposedly bad weather. Because flight was overbooked they were offering $400 gift card to change to standby on another flight. If you didn’t make that flight (evening), you’d be confirmed on a flight the following morning with one stop in Detroit (we booked a nonstop to Chicago). Uh, no thanks. Then to top it off, we’ve landed and been told that it will be at least an hour before we can deplane due to no availability at the gate (it’s 1145 pm right now). All this plus their new policy of not allowing us to select our seats because we bought the cheapest tickets. Really Delta? You go ahead and cater to the rich and I’ll choose to fly with another airline."
Pros: "I like Delta but this crew had such a shi**y attitude it was contagious. Yikes!"
Cons: "The gate staff and the flight staff. Rude"
Pros: "I flew on a basic economy fare (I understand the restrictions) and was seated in Economy Comfort +, so that was appreciated."
Cons: "I could see on the Fly Delta app that I had been placed in seat 10B, but neither the app nor my boarding pass gave me a group to board with, so I assumed that I needed to board with group 3, which necessitated gate-checking my rollerboard bag. Only when I approached the gate to board did I notice on the info screen that I had been "upgraded" to Comfort + and granted boarding with the Sky Priority group. I wish this had been clearer so I could have avoided waiting to board and gate-checking my bag. Minor inconvenience but room for improvement on Delta's part."
Pros: "The Delta people were solicitous, efficient and brilliant the whole way through. We had not a bit of trouble. Our first class seats were comfortable, but with the supplied blanket, pillow and poor air conditioning it was a hot flight. The cabin personnel were wonderful as per usual, and my tasty gin and tonic soothed any discontent. I wish I could fly this way all the time!"
Cons: "The private contractor handling wheelchair assistance was terrible. A Delta employee theorized that they do not pay enough to attract and retain personnel. Our pre-arranged chair was not there, multiple calls by our Delta assistant finally got us a ride to the chair holding area, but after about 45 minutes we gave up and shuffled off to the security area on foot. Thank goodness my hubby is mobile enough for that to have been an option. When we abandoned our wait we were still 4th in line for an attendant to push the chair. If Delta has any responsibility in this it would be in the retention and compensation for the private contractor."
Pros: "The crew did a great job of dealing with delays beyond their control and made sure we - and our luggage - made a connecting flight."
Cons: "No complaints."
Pros: "the meal was OK and they served ice cream midway between SFO and JFK."
Cons: "Late departure. Long delay getting to the get because of congestion at Terminal 4."
Pros: "Accident on way to airport, so I showed up to check bags 45 minutes before flight time. They said they couldn't get the bag to the plane..in 45 minutes? So, they put on the next flight... 6 hours later. Said I could fly without the bag... uh, no thanks. They would not look for alternatives without charging me more. Flight attendants were crabby, otherwise everything was fine. I flew British Airways a few months ago. Night and day. Seriously. Delta does not even approach having good service. There was no comparison to British Air--- Delta is not in the same league."
Pros: "Airline stewards were very friendly and pleasant."
Cons: "We booked with Delta, but were put on Air France. Even though we had our boarding passes in hand we had to wait in long, slow line for baggage tags because they would not print from kiosk. There was minimal Air France staff on duty serving thousands of passengers during busy season (July). While the lines grew larger, the staff was reduced from 4 to 2. Another long, slow line for customs, another long slow line for security=Charles De Gaulle airport was awful. We arrived at the airport 4 hours before our departure time and got to our boarding gate with no time to spare."
Pros: "What I liked: Sky Priority privilege came with separate luggage check-in queues and early boarding"
Cons: "What I disliked: Seats were too small No beverages or snacks offered No USB or power outlets available Three different groups board before Delta Comfort (e.g. those needing more time, travelers with children, first/business class) Didn't see the value compared to a less expensive main cabin ticket"
Pros: "Whoa, we flew Coach and had plenty of space! How marvelous to not be packed in; crew and passengers were wonderfully relaxed, and all went well despite turbulence on takeoff and landing. Great daytime flight experience with my toddler grandchild!"
Cons: "Boarding took too long - full plane and double seat booking changed 10 minutes early estimate to 20 minutes late"
Pros: "We were delayed due to weather and Delta brought a cart of snacks and drinks over to the gate for us."
Pros: "Free drinks"
Cons: "Corn nuts for snack. I'm allergic to corn. I get people want snacks on a flight and you can't make everyone happy. It was ok. I just said no to them."
Cons: "Protecting passengers over profits for a heartless PE firm for start. You don’t even make an attempt to use CDC guidelines."
Pros: "Crew was professional, courteous and kind. No issues on the plane."
Cons: "WiFi did not work for me to watch the on board entertainment, but not a dealbreaker for me."
Pros: "everyone was really nice."
Cons: "it was such a short flight that i didn’t have time to be bothered about anything."
Cons: "Hand carry shouldn't be charged as other flights."
Pros: "Very friendly"
Cons: "Show a movie"
Cons: "Flight was delayed multiple times and then they didn’t even have our luggage on the correct flight when we had landed back in MSP."
Cons: "As we landed in MSP my young son got sick. There was not a vomit bag available in our row. We cleaned it up the best we could. I told the gals as we exited and they were sympathetic. As my husband exited he heard them say. Well that’s lovely...I sure wasn’t impressed to hear that."
Pros: "I made it to Portland safely."
Cons: "Tried to call airline directly for customer service, but received a busy tone. Tried to call again and received an automated message saying to high call volume to call back later. Also went online to look for an email, but couldn’t find one so I sent a message to Sun Country twitter account, but no one responded. Worst customer service ever."
Pros: "I got stuck with a non reclining seat on a red eye flight"
Pros: "Thankful that we got there safely; certainly a competent pilot. Thank you!"
Cons: "Crew members were nowhere to be found; couldn't even flag one down to get a cup of water. The sweet lady in front of me,, thought English was her second language, had a crew member raise his voice to her to tell her to sit down, this after 30 + minutes of her looking to and for to get someone to just get her a cup of water so she could take her medicine. I suppose she should've pushed the attendant button but with English was her second language she must not have known this procedure? I asked for a soda and once he brought me the disgustingly warm soda with cup of ice I had to hold it on my lap the whole time because my tray table was broken. Def could tell that my once-favorite airline has switched ownership. I know changes have to be made in this day and age but it was really gone downhill. I gave you a 5-star Yelp and 5 Star Trip Advisor last year and have talked you up to so many people; sure wish I could do that again. :("
Pros: "The plane is a decent size, first plane had decent sized seats and headrests that were adjustable, second plane had smaller seats and no headrest, crew was friendly and like that it was a direct flight. Over all a decent flight."
Cons: "My duffle bag was damaged, when I arrived to Minneapolis one of the handles had been ripped off"
Cons: "The flight was delayed 2 and 1/2 hours. The plane was a mess. One of the seats was broken causing more delays. To top it off my golf clubs never arrived. The final straw was listening to the customer service recording tell me for 30 minutes how seriously they take luggage issues. I guess you get what you pay for."
Pros: "The orange juice."
Cons: "No Known Traveler # did not transfer to boarding pass; had to go through regular security instead of TSA Pre. Plane was changed; Got different seat assignment which I paid for. At online check-in I was forced to buy a seat. There was no option to get an assigned seat from Sun Country. After this, plane was changed and my window seat became a center seat. Got zone 5 at check-in even though I checked in within a couple of minutes beginning the 24 hour window. Very unpleasant travel experience."
Pros: "Direct flight"
Cons: "Online Seat selection only on payment and online check-in was allowed only upon seat selection. Indirectly it means collect some more $$ from passengers for online check-in. Boarding sequence was chaotic as there was no sequence after the first class."
Pros: "my neighbor had on a movie that was so violent. the images are still in my head. it was silent but the gloom of black and white and the killing was very disturbing. Please no violence, there is enough in the world."
Pros: "The cost, seats were comfortable,"
Cons: "The plane was an hour late landing at my destination partly bc they ran out of room in the overhead for bags. On flight entertainment cost $$ and was in the form of an iPad."
Cons: "I’m not sure why an airline, in 2017, doesn’t have WiFi available during the flight."
Pros: "Easy flying. Relaxing. Couldn't be better."
Pros: "Love sun country -crew is friendly, plane is comfortable"
Cons: "We were over 2hr delayed... arriving at destination at 2am making a major inconvenience for family picking up at airport and wedding the following morning"
Pros: "Nice stewardesses - very polite and helpful"
Cons: "When I checked in online the day before, I was only given seats that I had to pay an additional charge! I had already paid for my tickets when I booked the flight. This is ridiculous to check in and be expected to pay an additional charge just to get a seat! No snacks unless you pay for them - also ridiculous."
Cons: "The terrible crew every sun country flight has"
Pros: "Was upgraded to an exit row seat and when I asked the price the agent said it was a courtesy upgrade. It made a big difference in my comfort since I am 6'4"."
Cons: "Boarding very disorganized. We were hurried of the flight from San Francisco to Minneapolis because we were late only to find out that it was the same plane going to Boston and our departure would be delayed. I think it caused some unnecessary panic for passengers."
Cons: "Not having Internet on a four hour flight in 2017 is really bad. I won't be taking this airline again."
Pros: "Boarding and staff were friendly and easy."
Cons: "Cramped seating, felt like cattle car conditions. Even when able to get free space in empty back, seats couldn't be comfortable. I'm 6' 1", 275 lb. I guess i don't "fit" your demographic."
Cons: "Sun country staff are a bunch of sticklers. They wouldn't let me use the bathroom. They made rude remarks to me when I was trying to find my seat. I am consistently disappointed in the crew"
Cons: "I will never fly Sun Country again. They denied me boarding because the plane left early, even though I had checked in online earlier that day, alerted staff in person at the airport that I was on my way to the gate, and arrived at the gate BEFORE the scheduled departure time. One phone call from Sun Country staff could have kept the plane at the gate until the scheduled departure time, and I would have made my flight. This company is not keeping up with its competitors in terms of customer service and convenience, and I will not be giving them my business again."
Pros: "I have never seen such a steady stream (no pun intended) of passengers using the restroom. Crew was having a hard time getting beverage carts out as a result, but handled it with charm."
Cons: "Not enough overhead storage"
Pros: "On time"
Cons: "We were told that due to a full flight if we volunteered our bags at the gate then we would get them at the gate when we stepped off the plane. Seeing that it was later flight and I intentionally didn't want to volunteer but did with that stipulation I'm pretty unhappy. I know as a flight attendant or airline worker you probably have the "get over or attitude" but I don't share that. You'll have to "get over" the fact that I'll fly another airline mext time."
Cons: "unable to check in online as we bought the ticket thru Kayak. and it didn't flow to Sun Country. Needed to call Sun Country, put on hold for 45 min to discuss with agent. It was not visible that we even had a reservation ntil speaking with an agent. SC website didn't show that we had a reservation. The agent found the reservation. It was a total pain and nuisance to phone in on both legs of the trip..... Make the outside vendors talk to your system."
Pros: "Boarding was smooth and fast. The pilot informed us from time to time where the plane was and how far each spot was from the destination."
Cons: "Two of the three crew members on board ignored me and a passenger next to me when serving water/beverage. We had to call to get it!"
Pros: "This was my first time flying with Sun Country and from now on I will try to always fly Sun Country. The most helpful and polite staff I have ever encountered period."
Cons: "Everyone knows that traveling with a child is tough, but most of us have to do it. All the passengers were very empathetic and trying to help me entertain my child and the flight attendants on both flights to and from were so rude and judgmental with me. They made a tough flight so much more emotionally draining. They gave me looks, as I was walking my child (the only thing that made him happy) they'd say "Where's your seat??" and make us go back to our seat whenever we were up trying to get him to calm down. No turbulence or anything. It was a nightmare! I've used Delta in the past and they were so much more accommodating and helpful."
Pros: "Got us home safely, finally!"
Cons: "Flight delayed twice - one hour total delay. Crowded - surely the smart people at Sun Country can figure out a way to jam more people into the limited space available and raise the rates on the cattle-car experience another notch or two."
Pros: "I am a tall person and on both flights I was offered an exit row seat with more leg room when they saw me. I didn't even have to ask, which is great. In addition I made a mistake with my reservation (off by one day) and they very kindly changed it with no cost. (NOT normally policy, but as a special exception). I was VERY happy that they were flexible in this matter."
Cons: "I have no complaints - except about things that are "standard" in every flight - no food, charging for in flight entertainment, security lines, having to get to airport 2 hours before flight, etc..."
Pros: "I enjoyed te staff. Very warm and welcoming."
Cons: "I didn't like how cold it was."
Pros: "I liked flying out of Humphrey terminal. Considering that we left 50 minutes late we arrived about 15 minutes late. Our bag was waiting for us at the carousel."
Cons: "Boarding was late. Very unfriendly crew members. No greeting upon boarding at either door(where ticket was taken or entering plane). One in particular kept bumping into my arm and was in such a hurry to get around another passenger at one point that she flung the plastic bag she was carrying into my face! And she didn't even notice. It was also extremely cramped."
Pros: "direct flight from San Fran saved time."
Cons: "everything was fine."
Cons: "Wanting another seat, not in the middle and then being offered said seat for $129. No thanks."
Pros: "SFO to Minneapolis was a good experience"
Cons: "Snack was not provided Requested for a blanket as I forgot my jacket, was told that I could buy one if I needed it Boarding from Minneapolis was a bit messy as they boarded middle rows last and when I got in there was a scramble to find a spot for my cabin luggage as the cabin above my seat was already full. Not a big deal - created a little bit of delay when getting off the plane. Had to wait for 10 minutes to get to my cabin luggage which was all the way at the back."
Pros: "The San Francisco based crew and customer service was very welcoming, friendly and accommodating."
Cons: "On the return flight (out of their hub airport!), their online system failed so it didn't capture that we had prepaid both our checked bags nor our seat selection. When we arrived at the ticketing counter they were essentially accusational about the issue. We showed the confirmation page on our cell phone and even logged into our mobile banking app to show them and still had to argue about paying again. On top of that, they acknowledged the system was having issues and would do absolutely nothing to help us get seats together (my husband and I), let alone anywhere near what we had selected during the online check-in process (we paid extra for an aisle and middle towards the front of the plane, and they gave us two middle seats in the back of the cabin). There were four empty seats in first class, and they wouldn't even bump up a frequent flyer to give us seats together in coach. Not once did anyone apologize, ask how they could help, or just try to be helpful. Both "managers" were clearly poorly trained in handling these situations and defensive and dismissive (walking away while we were speaking). They didn't even offer a free meal voucher. Nothing was done to help rectify the situation. It was honestly shocking how terrible of an experience it was - no indication that they felt we were a paying customer. There were so many little things they could have done even without changing our seats that would have made the situation better. I will never fly this airline again, out of principle, and will absolutely share my experience with everyone I know. If someone from Sun Country reads this, the managers' names are Oniekey Brown and Jolynn Carpenter. I would suggest your management chain have a conversation with both of them and highly suggest training."
Pros: "We left and arrived on time"
Cons: "It was cold, would have been nice to have a blanket or know that one is not provided. Next time I know to have a sweater with me. Not a big deal."
Pros: "Process and flight were smooth."
Cons: "Seat back felt like it had a bar running across it right at kidney level. Very uncomfortable."
Pros: "It reminded me of a little bit less comfortable Southwest flight but the crew was definitely high quality."
Cons: "They lost my baggage!"
Pros: "There was a male flight attendant (not sure of his name) that was wonderful. He was funny and personable"
Cons: "My boyfriend and I purchased our seats separately and we asked if there was a way that we could be seated together. The man that was checking in our bags said no and that the plane was full. We were fine with it, but after awhile he said that he found a couple seats together in the emergency exit aisle. It was great! We got on the plane and there were tons of extra seats, the plane was not full and I believe that he was too lazy to look for seats together upon our first request."
Pros: "Nothing, it was awful...read below"
Cons: "My Tiffany necklace was stolen from my luggage As my luggage had a tag on it that it had been gone through...when someone went through my bag, it had jewelry from Tiffanys stolen...I am going to have to call sun country tomorrow to get a replacement of a very sentimental piece of jewelry. I am beyond horrified that this happened...I had know idea sun country airlines crew would steal while working for the airline. Sun country needs to be able to remedy this situation, otherwise I will have to ban the airline for future traveling as well as spread the word to those I know that you can get stolen from employees of sun country while traveling. This is most disturbing. Please advise ASAP. Melissa Sackett Cell phone number: 612-501-7551"
Pros: "On time. Boarding a little hectic. Got me to my destination decent time."
Cons: "Check in baggage is not a nice deal. Never liked it when it started and sill don't like it. It is an irritant to most customers; why don't they just figure it into the fare so it wouldn't be so obvious. But many airlines are like this - if the cattle don't complain, well why kill the goose that lays the golden egg? Knee room! PLEASE just one more inch of knee room!!!!!!"
Pros: "I haven't flown Sun Country for many years because I couldn't get directly where I was going on that airline. I was so pleasantly surprised on both of my flights--non-stop to and from SFO from MSP--at the cleanliness of the plane, the comfortable seats, the tiny bit of extra knee room made all the difference for me, a long-legged woman of a certain age. The passengers were assigned seats mostly on the aisle and window, giving us an empty middle seat for space and separation of space. That made so much sense. On the flight home, I was not feeling well, and I talked with a Flight Attendant who allowed me to take on of the several empty rows (it was a red eye flight) so I could lie down for a couple hours of the flight. Again, common sense, as the rows were empty, but such a caring gesture. I will sing Sun Country's praises and check their routes first before I make any other arrangements for flights."
Pros: "The crew was friendly and attentive, there were extra seats on the plane which gave us room to stretch out. Easy experience all around."
Cons: "Apparently (from the conversation behind me), the cheese/cracker platter ran out on the flight, which I had on a previous flight. Its awesome, but if this is worth writing about, then I cant really complain."
Pros: "Seating allowed for social distancing and wasn't full. Crew was great."
Pros: "The middle seat was vacant which is good."
Cons: "At the moment I feel that every establishment that’s out serving people are doing the best they can in this covid situation."
Cons: "When I made the initial booking/seating, United was not allowing the middle seat within the row. Needless to say, the plane was packed. Not one empty seat. Disappointing!"
Cons: "We could have had our non-stop flight that we booked"
Pros: "We arrived early. :)"
Pros: "Good crew."
Cons: "United is the literal worst. Economy basic where you are forced to check and pay for your carry on?! Horrible service in the terminal, staff more interested in their phones than helping. Wifi didn’t work. I’m the future I will pay more and fly anyone else. Never making this mistake again."
Pros: "The entertainment was good"
Cons: "Not switching our flights three times and not accommodating us like we had originally planned for."
Cons: "More room. Not losing my luggage at the end of long flight."
Pros: "Crew was fine. Comfort zero."
Cons: "I had to get out of the seat in order to reposition myself"
Cons: "They always run out of hot food even though the flight is during lunch time."
Cons: "I missed my connection because we left 2 hrs late from SFO due to an engine maintainance problem. Then had to fly to DCA instead of Richmond."
Pros: "Wide body jet on a domestic route has a wider cabin."
Cons: "Seat was uncomfortable, no PTV entertainment, you have to stream from the wi-fi using united app, but you have to pay for wifi to download it."
Cons: "The fact that they give all first class passengers dibs on the hot food and that leaves NOTHING for the folks in economy plus. The FA said that they only had a limited amount anyway. I was willing to purchase that buy high food cuz I was hungry instead I filled up on water and ginger ale and went to sleep on the 4 1/2 hour flight."
Pros: "Every thing about it except for snacks Wish there was a meal from sfo to ohare"
Cons: "The piolets ability"
Pros: "Crew was great and took care of my carry-on as all the space near my seat was full, so she brought it back to the front and stowed it for me."
Cons: "Seats were small, as typically horrible on flights these days. In-flight movies are normally free over a 5 hour flight, but that didnt seem to be the case, not a bad thing as overnight everyone slept, however my screen was unable to shut off so we had to cover it with a blanket to block the light."
Cons: "The “entertainment” system was more like a “frustration” system. The wi-fi was painfully slow. I had to use a different browser. Then download software. Then close a separate browser. Then download more software. At each step, I would scroll through an entire list of movies (painstakingly slowly) to get to the one I wanted, only to find that I needed to do yet another slow process before I could proceed. Finally, after 30 minutes of effort, I was watching my movie! And then 10 minutes into it, it cut off and I could not re-open it. Thanks for wasting my time and killing my soul with this “entertainment.”"
Pros: "The entertainment really helped pass the time"
Cons: "Not having milk to drink"
Cons: "No crew after the plane was ready, caused further delay of 3.5 hours. I missed last bus to my school & had to spend the night in ORD. So disregard of passengers!"
Pros: "Fun introduction of crew and local trivia sets the time for an enjoyable flight."
Cons: "Flight left 6 hours late with only vague explanations. Simply, "we had to get our equipment in the right places." Attempts to standby on 3 other flights were fruitless and UA airport staff gave no direction or recommendations other than "were sorry.""
Pros: "This United flight left on time and arrived to my destination early, which was nice, unlike my last flight."
Cons: "Wi-Fi and “private screen” entertainment through my own devices did not work. Second time it has not worked at all on a United flight. Food was average (meaning bare-bones for complimentary)."
Pros: "On time , and good service"
Cons: "With no warning ahead, United only offers paid programming from SFO to ORD. $7.99 for Direct TV programming per person with only 8 possible movie choices-- only one of interest. We were not even able to turn off screen so had to see commercials for service entire 4 1/2 hour trip. Horrible!!"
Pros: "The in flight entertainment was awesome!! The crew was nice."
Cons: "The LONG line to get re routed..."
Cons: "Leg I was only offered economy. Not plus"
Cons: "items missing from an outer pocket of my checked suitcase which was absolutely closed when it was given to baggage originally. Airport absolutely useless when I explained the problem."
Cons: "I've flown 13 different airlines in the last 6 months (including budget carriers) and united was the poorest value. You pay a high price and there are no amenities-you even have to pay for tv. The boarding process was the least time efficient I've seen. The boarding groups are not based on row numbers? Lots of backups on jet bridge and plane aisles."
Pros: "We didn't crash?"
Cons: "After much concerns and inquiries made bag did NOT make the plane! There is as no one to h love me to n white Planes for 45 minutes! No one at the counter? Wow! Finally supervisor Jill was able to track it down in Chicago where th y took it off the he plane as my carry on because they had no room l ft from the h limited space. After working very hard to get my bag of o White Plains that evening, supervisor Jill hung out an hour past her shift ended to get it on the last transport to my hotel. The transport blew herself by ft and never showed up or called the o say he wasn't coming back! I got my bag on he next morning just in tim for my event! I also was not credited my frequent flyer miles. Some glitch in the system. Overall I must rate my experience as a one star simply because the pilots got us there safely."
Pros: "The landing"
Cons: "I had to pay $264 extra for missing a flight that I later found was delayed."
Pros: "On time, smooth flight. Good personnel, friendly. Seats were OK, managed to get some rest."
Cons: "Because of a delay in SFO to Chicago O'Hare airport I missed my connecting flight back home. My connecting flight left early without me. While boarding the plane in SFO, the people at the gate made me check my carry on bag. Which I thought was very weird. When we finally got to Chicago I stood in line for two and a half hours to talk to one of the worst customer service lady of my life. She swore at me many times over me trying to be polite and wait for her to call me up to find another flight. Instead she looked at me and said "what are you waiting for?" She said to me "Oh here's a flight. But oh wait it's already sold out or gone" and she would laugh. Finally she found a flight close to where I live. My baggage had got lost from my connecting flight leaving without me. I got all of my luggage 2 days after. My carry on bag that got checked at my gate was in a clear trash bag. I took it out of the bag to find that it was completely trashed. My handles were ripped off which put a huge whole revealing all of my personal items. My carry on bag has only been used once and can never be used again. I unpacked my bag and noticed $300 worth of my stuff was missing. I have called to make many complaints to talk to corporate office but no one would give me the correct number. I will NEVER fly United Airlines again. I am so disappointed."
Cons: "Your staff needs to be much more strict with carry-ons. So many people getting on with more than 2 items (1 item and one personal item). It is kind of ridiculous. If a small suitcase does not fit in the overhead bin without taking all the space, people should be forced to check it. Please adhere to your own policies. Not fair to people that don't board first at all."
Pros: "Having power at the seat to charge my cell phone"
Pros: "The staff is really polite."
Pros: "The flight was overbooked and I'd volunteered to take a voucher for a later flight. Last second they'd put me on anyways and thankfully There was still room for my carrry on. Comfortable & quick smooth ride!"
Pros: "Flight attendants and boarding crew were great!"
Cons: "Seats are very crammed in in the back of plane"
Pros: "Boarding was much more organized with lines marked for each boarding group. The crew was super friendly. Also, I received a whole can of cran-apple juice, which was much nicer than just a small cup. The tv options were also fairly priced for the options available."
Pros: "Crew clearly understood that people were frustrated with the delay and did their best to speed up boarding process. Flight arrived earlier than expected and crew helped with difficult transfers"
Cons: "Late night flight got delayed even later, very frustrating"
Pros: "Airline had group lanes at gate prior to boarding which reduces chaos. STILL, Groups 4 & 5 had to check rollerboards due to no overhead space."
Cons: "No wifi on this flight, but there were screens on the back of each seat. Seating was cramped as usual."
Cons: "I had no issues with my flights but my bag was damaged to the point I can no longer use it. They asked for volunteers to check their carry on due to a full flight (not my problem) so I did the nice thing and checked my small hard-case carry on never thinking it could get damaged that badly. It was only 2-3 years old and not only did the wheel come off but it cracked a portion of the hard case which came off as well. To make it worse when I called to ask what I should do to get compensation they told me the wrong thing and would only let me talk to people in call centers who wouldn't really answer my questions."
Pros: "Entertainment available; happy that it was free; blanket and pillow"
Cons: "The seats are uncomfortable to sleep in so I didn't sleep at all from San Francisco to Bradley; wished my seat had somewhere to plug my phone"
Cons: "Somehow I ended up with a middle seat all three flights I took. I would have upgraded if offered. Plane wasn't all that comfortable. All and all, you guys got me where I needed to go, so I can't really complain. Thank you"
Pros: "My father got into the hospital so I called United to try to reschedule the flight I already had. The woman on the phone rescheduled my flight right away without charging me for any flight change fees and told me several times that she wished my father to get well. I was truly impressed and I'm very grateful! Thank tou for a wonderful service and getting me to my family so quickly!"
Pros: "We had a connecting flight from Chicago to Detroit that was never fulfilled. We had to rent a vehicle and drive home because the only option was to stay another day in Chicago and possibly fly home the next evening."
Cons: "We receive no satisfaction for either a credit or a refund."
Pros: "At least we got to where we wanted to go."
Cons: "Our flight was put off for 3 hours because of airplane maintenance and I got an email about it the morning of the departure date. It was unacceptable."
Cons: "We got on board, waited 20 minutes. Capt said it was a bad reverser, and we were waiting on paperwork for 15 minutes. Long story short, they make us leave the plane after 2.5 hours. Then we wait in the airport for another 2.5 hours. I missed my connection and spent 10 hours in Chicago."
Pros: "The attendants were very nice"
Cons: "I had to gate check my one little carry on bc there were tons of people with too many bags, my seat was half taken by some lady's fat next to me. I upgraded to first class after my layover because it was so bad."
Pros: "Everything about the flight from the attendant to the pilot was amazing."
Cons: "The flight being delayed and miscommunication which was out of the control."
Cons: "You switched me to an earlier flight without asking is confirming with me. I almost missed the flight, had to check my bag at the gate, and started out my morning scrambling to get to the airport and through security. No one at united could tell me why it was changed. Un believable. This is not the kind of surprise that is welcomed or appreciated."
Pros: "Service and comfortable airplane"
Cons: "No complaints"
