Had to wait on plane while airbridge was brought to the plane so everyone could disembark - “they weren’t expecting the flight!!” Whole flight still waiting for luggage after 55 minutes of standing at carousel and only after 55 minutes an announcement to say handlers are tending to a departure and we have to wait another 10 minutes - a whole hour for luggage - take carry on only next time!!!! 4 flights collecting luggage from the one carousel!!"

So I moved, to be removed by Sarah (stewardess) and put back in Tow 75. Then she put two of her friends in Row 50. When I walked up later to get my bag, there was still an empty Row 50 seat, but her friiends’ purses were in the seat, and they reluctantly removed the items when I insisted to sit there. Sarah should have left me in Row 50 and not made me move back to 75."

Pros: "This flight is extremely long, but very enjoyable when flying with Qantas. They have everything, from snacks and drinks in the back of the plane to coming by pretty often to give you food. I was never hungry or upset wth the service."

The seat was reasonably comfortable, and reclines back a decent way. For how huge the plane was, the boarding process was super fast and efficient!"
Cons: "Seats were still rather cramped for my poor husband, who is 6'3. It is very hard to get out of your seat if you're in a window and all the seats on front are fully reclined, and I am relatively spry! Can't imagine an elderly or debilitated person trying to do so! The in flight movies were great, but you had to use the headphones they provide, and none of the 3 pairs I tried worked well. All had constant static. Although the seats recline far, they also do it abruptly and are hard to get to come back up. The dinner (we had the beef) was not very good. The quality of the ground beef was what you would expect from a fast food place. The worst part of the flight was that the sat ALL the infants in the same area on the plane, and all right around us. 5 of them, to be exact. 17 hours of on and off screaming babies! My husband had to move to a different seat to get some sleep! Thankfully, I can sleep through anything. Overall, less terrible than I expected a 17 hour flight to be, but could have been better. Some crew were very nice and helpful and others not so much. The first woman my husband asked told him (rather abruptly) that he wouldn't be able to use his CPAP machine. Then a really nice guy helped him get it set up. The turbulence was a bit scary for me, and the way the captain would announce it didn't help! He'd just say "all passengers and crew be seated and fasted your seat belts" in a rather grim tone as the plane shook violently."

I will never fly Qantas again. They were a complete nightmare and definitely the low point of our wonderful vacation."

We had problems with my seating, but the crew did everything they could to amend the issues. The crew was wonderful and really took great care of us."
Cons: "Right away we found out my chair was broken, and couldn't recline. Also, we had been placed in the first row of Premium and there are no automatic footrests. The crew has to bring those out. But there weren't any on board the plane at all. And since I'm only 5'2" tall, my feet don't reach the floor, causing blood circulation to be cut off in my legs from the pressure of hanging on the seat. No recline for 12+ hours, and no foot rest = a lot of pain and discomfort. I've been to the doctor twice since arriving home and am still in pain."

We ended up needing to change our itinerary in a simple way that would’ve been easy to do through the airline but webjet would not accommodate without spending $2500 in ticket fees. To avoid that we had to book additional tickets and take an additional flight that ended up being cheaper but quite the hassle that took way longer"

They didn't say that they charge so much more at the airport - which is a total rip off. We were also harassed by not having the email that showed we purchased an Australian Visa which is digitally tied to our passport. If they need to verify our Visa, then they should have the electronic means to verify it. Also, we were traveling from Sydney to Auckland so since we were leaving the country I'm not sure why they had to see our Australian Visa in the first place. We were already in the country!"

Cons: "Ended up on a Jetstar flight on a codeshare arrangement with our booked airline Qantas. The journey didn’t start well when our bags would not scan through the self serve checkin as we had not booked direct with Jetstar. We then asked for an aisle seat, but this was refused - the “customer service” assistant advised we should have paid extra to pre-reserve a seat (a no cost option on Qantas). Then when we entered the plane we found that both adjacent aisle seats were in fact vacant. Food was an additional cost item - on an 8 hour flight. Those unlucky enough to ask for a meal late found that there was nothing left for them. Entertainment was also an additional cost item - when paid for the selection was extremely limited, the system slow. The entertainment froze up requiring a reboot. Though not the airline’s fault, the person behind was very fidgety, making it very uncomfortable for anyone sitting in front of him. If the seats were slightly further apart we might not have had that experience either. All in all not the best, given that we had booked with a full price airline and ended up on a budget airline instead."

I wasn't sure what everyone was bringing yet when I booked tickets. the baggage agent told us it would have been less than ten dollars per bag if booked online. I can see doubling the price but not quadrupling... the luggage is still boarding the plane, whether you pay 10 or 50 dollars, it doesn't change anything other than they make more money off of the passengers."

Pros: "I was rebooked to JQ7001 which is VERY disappointing as it leaves Sydney 6 hours later than JQ199, my original flight. Reason given by Jetstar: JQ199 has been closed. An outright lie as JQ199 departed Sydney as per schedule today. I"
