Pros: "To be honest I had a pretty bad flight because my allergies exploded during the entire flight - constant sneezing, runny nose, you name it. However, the attentiveness of the crew really made up for it. The cabin was decorated with tiny wreathes (so cute!), and the pillow/blanket was very comfortable/warm for an Economy seat. Although I did not use it as much, the entertainment seemed top-notch. And the crew-- they noticed that I was not feeling well, and offered me peppermint tea and snacks that did sooth things a bit (you can request for snack/beverage refills anytime!). I loved that they gave out black socks to the passengers too (I prefer taking my shoes off during the flight, so the socks added warmth & prevented my own socks from getting dirty). All in all, it was one of the best-serviced long flights I had, not to mention probably the most affordable price I paid for my annual trip to Korea (from LA)."

Pros: "The aircraft was clean, new, spacious and quiet. The bathrooms were regularly maintained. The food quality, selection and quantity was excellent for the economy class. Even the serving utensils were solid metal and had a very high quality feel to it. Having an endless supply of mid flight snacks was also appreciatd I always like the warm wet towels, which were offered at take off and landing. The entertainment choices were endless, but because it had USB and regular power, I was able to work on my laptop and listen to my podcasts on phone without worrying about running out of battery."
Cons: "The crew lacked its usual pep and cheer. For some reason they seemed very introverted and tired. First time on Singapore Airline that I noticed. The amenities kit was a bit on the cheap side. Also, only the supplied two prong headphones could be used with the entertainment system, I would have preferred an option to use my high end ones -- this was the main reason I chose to just work and listen to my own music/podcasts instead of watching a movie. We boarded and disembarked through the business sections and the aisles were too narrow. The announcements were hard to hear and the temperature was set too low for half of the flight (to kept fluctuating requiring constant adjustment of blanket/jacket). Having said that will keep flying them."

What bothered me even more is that when the woman asked the flight attendant to tell me to put my seat up, the flight attendant complied instead of telling the woman it was my seat to do as I wished. Why make the seats recline if they are going to bother the people behind? Why tell me to put my seat up if it was not a requirement for all (ie during take off or landing)? I did not appreciate this and it made my flight extremely uncomfortable."

Malaysian airlines stayed in the runway, fixing an engine and the pilot said they were delaying the plane, driving in for passengers to disembark. After being told by cabin crew that a number of us were late for connecting flight, that they were going to wait for us, they didn’t and we were told we had missed the flight. We were kindly put on the next flight which wasn’t until five hours later. Unrealistic scheduling causes is to miss our flight and had us sitting at the airport for four hours, making it an unnecessarily long day. Not impressed."

At the airport they were very helpful in getting me onto another flight, as my flight had been delayed, which in turn would make me miss my second flight. All the cabin crews were very friendly. I think that the people that work for Cathay make up for a lot of what Cathay lacks in other aspects."
Cons: "There was not enough information about the flight delays and the causes for these delays. It was a little stressful and rushed as my layover in HK was quite short. The boarding process could be a lot better if people were boarded according to rows. Food on most Cathay flights in general was pretty disappointing. It would also be great to have wi-fi on the flights. Especially considering how long some of the flights can be."

There was a teenage girl seated next to me and she requested the crew for some water and the hostess told her to wait till they served drinks which she said will take 5 mins. It was after 18 mins that the girl next to me finally got water. Seriously, you can't afford to give a glass of water , it's not like she was asking for coffee or some soft drink, its water ...and when we flew Korean and EVA airlines, they had a small bottle of water available on the seat when we boarded. Then my next row family asked for coffee and after a few minutes the fellow passengers wife decided to have some tea. So the husband called in the hostess and the hostess very rudely said , now you want both coffee and team , next time please let me know at the same time. Then when they served me my special meal, there was no butter in the meal tray, so I patiently waited for them to serve others and when they reached my row, I very nicely asked if I may have some butter...the hostess said, we don't have any butter. I was like...speechless. No butter, no water...and Cathay is a top class airline , HOW is it possible ? And the other crew was ok, this was one crew member a female and her name started from J , don't remember her full name. She was the laziest ever crew member I have ever seen and I am pretty sure she did not like her job. Cathay did not provide any tooth brush or mouth wash. No socks, slippers , eye patch...nothing. While flying to HKG from Toronto, I did not opt for special meal and the meal was just HORRIBLE. It was some beef and I couldn't even cut it with a knife. I think Korean Air is more or less the same as Cathay but in my opinion Korean is much better than Cathay. Cathay is only good for Business/First class. I seriously recommend EVA airlines and if not then Korean but if you are flying economy then stay away from Cathay."

Cons: "Kayak.com did not notify me my flight was cancelled. By my own dumb luck I showed up early enough for Air China to put me on a plane that was boarding. Come on kayak. You failed to provide details that could have ruined my trip. Get it together."

Cons: "got crushed here at airport. There was a lot of people here at 5am. No one was at the ticket counter and all check-ins were automated. So no staff available at ticket counter. The auto system didn’t recognize my passport with the ticket. Then I had to go to duty manager who was not helpful."

So I just decided to stay and check at the airport hourly hotel just so I could take a shower and sleep.. But it was full and waiting. So I'm here 2am waiting for my 6pm to Manila. This will be my and my last with Air China!! They are not customer and client friendly. This the mosr terrible flight I've been. Never again!"

Pros: "I am incredibly happy with my Air China experience. Crew worked diligently to create a good experience, and was kind when I was having difficulty communicating. The food was surprisingly fabulous! Authentic Chinese cuisine and tasty. Several passengers did not review the regulations and were pretty rude when Air China crew told them to turn off and put away cell phones. Crew handled this well."
Cons: "Bathrooms were not very clean. I didn't realize until halfway through the flight that we needed to get our own beverages and throw away our own trash (different than the other airlines)- would have appreciated this being announced. I was confused during boarding process about when to stand and when to board, but watched the people around me and figured it out. We took off late/ landed late, but I was able to make my connection in Beijing without any stress so was happy."

Cons: "we had a delay from Seoul to Beijing of over 5 hours causing us to miss our connecting flight to LAX our home destination. When we got to Beijing it was after 1:30 in the morning and we were given very poor directions to get on to our connecting flight which was not guaranteed until 9 pm that evening (19 hours later). Thankfully we were able to get on the stand by flight at noon but due to the rush of getting our standby tickets barely an hour before the flight we ended up losing our costly contact lenses at security checkpoint and when my wife called China Air representative to mail the lost items back to LAX when we could pick them up we got no help but have to find some courier service and we are still having trouble getting our items back."

Cons: "1. Not allowed to use phones during the flight... at all. 100% ban. This means no music on headphones or any usage at all, even in flight-safe mode. Ridiculous. 2. Forced to shut laptops down a full 30min before landing. So unnecessary. 3. My luggage was soaking wet when I unpacked... a bottle of alcohol from another bag must've smashed and spilt all through my bag. Everything was ruined and wet. 4. No entertainment on the PEK-ICN flight. 5. Crew is just generally aggressive and rude."

Pros: "The plane that WE EVENTUALLY got on was modern and nice. The entertainment system worked mostly (even though the selection was lacking)."
Cons: "Every flight was late. The staff was unprofessional and not at all helpful to my friend who was traveling with a broken leg. We needed a wheel chair for him so we could race to our connection in Beijing.... they wouldn't give us one and kept bickering amongst themselves, so he had to walk on his crutches all the way to the gate... only to find out they changed the gate because our plane was broken. Only they didn't tell us that, they just kept saying... "you can't board". I could go on and on but I am still too exhausted from the experience."

Pros: "The service was pretty good. I only had an hour to board my next flight, so flight attendants moved me up towards the front of the plane so that I could exit earlier than others. I was able to make it to my next flight."
Cons: "There was a 3-hour delay after all the passengers boarded. We were all sitting inside the plane without any explanation. At first, the captain blamed airport for not giving any updates on their departure, and a flight attendant that I talked to blamed the local temperature, which was a total nonsense. Later the captain announced that there was an issue with the engine. My layover was supposed to be 4.5 hours, but it got cut to 1 hour due to the unexpected delay that they had not clearly explained. I had to run to catch my next flight. When I got to my final destination, I found out Air China did not transfer my bag on time, so I had to file extra paper works in order to receive my bag two days later."

Cons: "The Crew woke everyone up in the middle of the night with 5 hours to go to serve breakfast. Should have let people sleep and served breakfast with 1.5 hours to go."

Pros: "Great price but crowded seating, no air flow, bad food, couldn't use the games on my phone, and the touch screen entertainment was a 50/50 chance of not working. The stewardesses were nice but spoke almost no English so helping us to find our connecting flight was impossible."

Cons: "Their signage at Beijing was hard to follow. We were flying to Korea and it's an international flight but everyone directed us to their domestic side and eventually couldn't check us in because we needed to goto their international counter. It's also so massive so I probably missed the sign but once we got to the right place everyone was helpful again. Would fly them again."

Pros: "Absolutely nothing"
Cons: "I have lived in China on and off since 2009. Beijing Capital and Chinese airlines are the absolute worst. My bags have been lost at least three times in the past year alone. This most recent flight from Beijing to Seoul, my bag was delivered to me two days later and just hours before I went back to the airport for a flight to Hong Kong. This nonsense only ever occurs with Chinese carriers and the Beijing airport."

Pros: "Friendly crew (in Chinese) and they were accommodating."
Cons: "It was delayed over an hour and there were no boarding groups whatsoever."

Cons: "The touch screen didn't work, and the bar below the chair that one can step on couldn't hold itself up, and I constantly had to reposition it. The audio port of the seat next to me didn't work either. The plane definitely needs a renovation."

Cons: "Boarding is chaotic, as the boarding groups are not organized and nothing is done to prevent people from cutting in line."
