Still waiting for my coffee!
I was very impressed with this airline. The flight was comfortable the plane was clean and the attendants were very nice. The zipper on my suitcase broke after I checked it. The airline wrapped it in plastic wrap, so it wouldn’t continue to fall apart. Every item I had in the suitcase was there when I got to Los Angeles. That is above and beyond!

There should have been a breakfast served prior to landing, but no food service after 1 a.m. though flight arrived at 7:40 a.m. Timing of meals was not convenient for me at all. They wake you up at 1 a.m. for your main dinner. I would have preferred to sleep until 5 a.m. then have a good breakfast. The amenity kit in Business Class was substandard when compared to other airlines"

I did not want to make a big deal, so I just ate it. Then they did not offer any beverages when the meal came! I literally had to beg them to make me their famous “Singapore sling”. Shocking really!!. When I had my coffee, my request for cream and sugar went ignored THREE times. Finally they grudgingly gave me only cream, rendering my coffee undrinkable. .....And the list goes on. Never ever will I travel on this horrid airline again!"

Cons: "The seat's recline button was broken which meant having to sit for 12+ hours upright. Upon hearing that the seat was broken, the airline crew offered my mother a check for 100 SGD (14% of the ticket value) to be used on Singapore airlines (for the discomfort caused for over 50% of the flight time). They changed her seat from Seoul to Singapore. When I wrote to them about it, they came back saying they had offered her a seat change from LA to Singapore, and she had declined, which is absolutely false. When I called that out, they said, maybe they did not offer aisle seats (note that the broken seat was not aisle). So it just shows that they don't want to accept that they messed up. They even told me that despite their best efforts in pre-flight checks, certain defects only surface when the flight is in progress. Will never ever travel on this airline again."

I hope they were a little considerate as I was travelling for a family emergency and had to take all my stuff back as I wasn’t sure what date I would return back. I was over weight but wish they had considered a lil as had to pay an other $300 extra.."

Pros: "To be honest I had a pretty bad flight because my allergies exploded during the entire flight - constant sneezing, runny nose, you name it. However, the attentiveness of the crew really made up for it. The cabin was decorated with tiny wreathes (so cute!), and the pillow/blanket was very comfortable/warm for an Economy seat. Although I did not use it as much, the entertainment seemed top-notch. And the crew-- they noticed that I was not feeling well, and offered me peppermint tea and snacks that did sooth things a bit (you can request for snack/beverage refills anytime!). I loved that they gave out black socks to the passengers too (I prefer taking my shoes off during the flight, so the socks added warmth & prevented my own socks from getting dirty). All in all, it was one of the best-serviced long flights I had, not to mention probably the most affordable price I paid for my annual trip to Korea (from LA)."

But since the first leg is always getting in and you have to bus to the terminal, transit time is about 30 mins. Although they are efficient and i made it this time, i wouldn't want to do this with kids."

Cons: "Due to a misunderstanding at check-in we have been seated away from a baby bassinette (although booked) to sit together with my husband, nobody asked what my preference would be (sitting as a whole family or having a bassinette) and a 17-hour flight with a 9month old baby constantly on my lap was challenging. Also a very disappointing selection of films and documentaries for adults. I ended watching a kids movie with my older daughter and it was the only thing I found appealing. Kids section very good though, my 5-year old was glued to the screen and all the options had my approval :)"
Cons: "Front row with a toddler meant that we couldn't lift the armrests up and get her to lay down. She had to lie on the floor, but when we hit some turbulence, we had to wake her and sit her back up with us. The second part of the leg was much better as we were on a normal row seat"

Cons: "When I checked my two bags, I was told to pick them up in Doha and recheck them to my final destination at Rwanda. When I arrived in Doha I was told by the transfer desk that I did not need to pick up my bags because they had been checked to my final destination. I even asked them to pull up my flight information and to confirm that, which they did. However, when I arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, my bags were no where to be found. No one has found them yet. I also called Qatar Air before my flight and asked about hotel accommodations for my layover because my layover was from 6:00 pm to 7 am. When I called, I was told that I would be given a complimentary hotel room because of the length of the layover. However, when I arrived I was told that I did not qualify for the hotel accommodation. Then, I was told that a hotel room would cost 250. When i arrived at the hotel, I was told the cheapest was 325."

I had the same meal twice it was very sad meal for 17.5 hrs with no snacks offered either. My partner and another man were forgotten as the meal rounds were being done. The crew seemed a little disorganised. The adverts on the entertainment were annoying."

Unfortunately we could not afford to upgrade to business, but because we let the Agent know it was our honeymoon he put my wife and I in a window and aisle seat so that we would have nobody between us. This gave us the extra room and comfort we needed. Also, they are a bit roomier than most planes with better leg room. They have a TON of free movies, tv shows, games, music and more on the plane. Food was decent for airplane food and they gave lots of snacks in between."

Cons: "First off, if im buying a ticket and traveling by myself and have an overnight 11hrs and 35min layover i expected some sort of accommodation given that the Maldivian airport is an outside one. Not only did they (Maldivian Emirates counter officer Ibrahim Shinad) refused to give me a lounge they said to get a room at a hotel was $400 US! Which is absurd. I had to sleep on metal chairs. They also closed most shops by 12am and by the time we landed and went through checkin it was 1130. Not a pleasant experience at all."

Cons: "Unfortunately the it was a bumpy ride as most of the time the seat belt sign was on and crew had to discontinue services for a while. This was beyond airlines control. The crew did not distribute the Sri lankan landing cards onboard. This caused some confusions for first time travellers as they had to cone off the immigration queue and went to pick the card up and to complete. Some foreigners were unhappy about it."

The ingredients seemed fresh. The crew were awesome: polite, kind, and considerate. They were eager to accommodate passengers' requests. The jets were new and clean. The entertainment system was touch-screen."

Cons: "Flew from NY to Shanghai, had a 6 hour layover, then boarded my flight to Tokyo. China Eastern left my luggage behind in Shanghai, along with everyone else who was also on the NY>Shanghai flight. I do not understand how this happened, since the layover was 6 hours!! The layover was exhausting after a 14 hour flight, and then to arrive in Tokyo with no luggage made it even more tiring. The airline offered no compensation. Thankfully JAL was responsible with helping me once in Tokyo and they facilitated the delivery of the luggage to my hotel- in the middle of the night. It was inconvenient and disappointing after 24+ hours of travel. Not to mention - food was absolutely terrible. And headphone quality was no good for watching any of the films."

China eastern agents at Delhi lied about the status of the connecting flight from Shanghai to SFO and made us start the journey knowing fully well that we will miss the connection. At Shanghai the agent and her manager were one of the most rude and incompetent folks I have come across - they took three hours to handle 50 passengers. And to top it the immigration folks were equally inefficient they took 3 hours to clear 40 ~ 50 folks for 24 hours transit visa. There were two agents and one supervisor. Do the math - 13 to 16 minutes per person. We stood in line for straight 6 hours. My wife had swollen feet for next few days. China may be great at manufacturing but service is surely not theie thing. Avoid Shanghai airport and China Eastern like the plague."

I was informed that I needed to order a vegetarian meal 24 hours in advance, but it did not say this anywhere when I was buying my flight tickets, so how was I supposed to know? Twenty hours of traveling with no food on 3 flights and waiting in long lines at customs with not enough layover time and no food is absolutely miserable. Also the boarding process at Bangkok is terrible. There are too many people pushing and shoving through lines and cutting lines, it was the worst I have ever seen at any airport I have ever been to. My bag was also lost somewhere between Bangkok and my first layover. Luckily SFO helped me to recover it."

Cons: "Terrible customer service. The airline cancelled our flight and rebooked us for another flight that would miss our connecting flight. When contacted, we were told they would not assist us and we would be charged to adjust further. After endless back and forth on the phone we were rebooked for free BUT an additional 6 hours were added onto our trip. While aboard the flight our crew was very dismissive. When asked about food being served we were given multiple different answers. At first we believe this was due to a language barrier. Yet we found a stewardess who was fluent in English. When we (along with a couple behind us) asked her what is on this sandwich (we do not eat pork and the wife of the couple behind us has a seafood allergy) we were told, “don’t know what’s on the sandwich. Maybe chicken. Maybe fish. Have your husband try it and tell you”."

I asked online if i can buy round trip for me and one way ticket for my daughter. They said i cant. So i bought round trip. Now i am here in Cambodia waiting to check in with my daughter but they said that my daughter does have ticket as it was cancelled since she was not in the departure flight from SFO. I am suing somebody."

On the plane, the food was unbelievably disgusting. The seats were very, very cramp and some did not recline. And again, the customer service was horrible! I will avoid taking China Eastern in the future and will gladly pay a little extra for a much better experience on another airline."

Cons: "I got to Thailand safely when, it was time for me to board my flight back to United States your ticket agent denied me access on the plane. even though I sat in front of her for four hours ahead of time when it was time for me to check in at the ticket agency she told me that I was not allowed on your plane and then gave me a number that didn't even work she told me it was for the embassy which it was not it was a fake number and when I came back to the table to talk to her she walked away and someone else came to the kiosk and they acted like they did not know what I was talking about so I am very upset and I would like my money back for return flight for ticket of the amount for the flight from Thailand to the states .... I had to purchase another ticket with a different company and when I told them what happened, They told me that she cannot deny me access without a probable calls and if so for any reason she would have to let me know why am not allowed on the plane. Now this young lady was very nasty to me she gave me a fake number she walked off on me I was hurt along and terrified because I did not know how I was going to get home I had to call 30 of my friends for them to send me money . And a PayPal account in order for me to get up $800 to get a one-way ticket home so I would like my money back and if I do not get it I will sue you for it because I still have to information. And if you do not know who was at the kiosk at the time of 2016 April 25 you should look at your recordings because I'm the only black guy on the plane and the only black guy in line so it is not hard to miss me so once you figure out what has happened I will like to know if I do not hear anything within the next 30 days I will be subject to issue a lawsuit ."

Cons: "I took 2 connecting flights back home, both flights were delayed by 2h and 1.5h respectively. No estimated new departure time was given, and the staff took very long (well after the supposed departure time) before they made an announcement for us to apologise for the delay. Service was mediocre. Half the time the crew was no where in sight, so it was difficult to ask them for something. When pressing the bell for service, they also took very long to respond. Once, when i had asked a steward for water, he was busy and told me to go to the back of the airplane to get it myself."

But the worst part were the delays in Shanghai, and lack of information from the airline about what to do. A 3 hour delay from London meant we missed our connection and had to stay overnight. Poor communication from the airline or airport employees resulted in a confusing and stressful 12 hours... A simple handout explaining how the free hotel thing worked would be very helpful. (The hotel they put us up at was actually pretty nice!) Despite the generally pleasant flight experience, we will be avoiding China Eastern and transiting in Shanghai in the future."

The frustrated passengers waited and was asking the crew to announce it so everyone would know yet they declined to announce. Everyone just waited even if the flight was late without no expectation on the delay and what caused it. The crew had poker faces and didn't know how to empathize with the frustrated passengers who were worried bec they might miss their connecting flights. There were no apologies and seemed that they didnt care at all, no answer and no setting of expectations theybjust kept asking us to wait whenever a passenger would ask when we will be onboarded."
Cons: "Details are : China Eastern Airlines Flight 9451 from Shanghai to Kunming Airport in China Plane left 9:15 A.M. and arrived 12:55 PM at Kunming I was given baggage tag number FM229569 which says ' To Saigon " via KMG I asked if my luggage was going straight to Ho Chi Minh City ( Saigon, Vietnam ). I was told by 3 people 'YES" I left KUNMING Airport at 4:15 PM via Flight 2585 on March 26 and arrived at Ho Chi Minh Airport at 6:10 PM Luggage is not in Ho Chi Minh"
