Tokyo hotels in Nakano

Pros: The hostel was very calm and comfy and the area had a lot of nice little shops and bars, a gem. They also helped me get to the airport on my last day, there was a typhoon the night before so the extra help was much appreciated!

Pros: The guest house was super lovely! The building seems to be very new which makes it not as humid compared to other places we stayed in tokyo. The beds were also very comfortable and the living room was cute. Would definitely stay again when in tokyo. The neighborhood was also perfect to explore by foot. Thank you so much!

Pros: It really felt like a cozy little home for the three days I was there. The staff ladies are so friendly--not in a friendly-because-they-have-to way, but because they're genuinely lovely people. Spotlessly clean too!

Pros: Cute and clean little hostel in a great great neighborhood. The beds in the dormitory were comfortable. There was a storage space for reasonable size luggage (probably not great if you have huge luggage) and a smaller space in your bed that locks. But honestly I felt everything was very safe as it was a small very thoughtful group sharing the space. The other guests were respectful of each other. Common spaces were nice including, kitchenette, bathrooms and showers. It felt very safe and cozy.

Cons: There was very little I didn't like. I will say, most of the other guests were Japanese women, so not an ideal place to meet new people, unless you speak Japanese. This was fine for me as I was in Tokyo meeting friends. Everyone was very thoughtful and friendly just not the ideal place if you hope to meet many new friends while traveling.

Pros: Grapehouse Koenji is located in a quiet neighborhood, but close to JR station and a busy shopping street. The hostel is clean and well maintained. My friend and I had a great time there.

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: The beds are comfy, it is small and intimate and extremely clean. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. Being female only it's mostly quiet although sometimes a guest can be quite noisy as with all other hostels. It's a good opportunity to interact with other travellers and there are sometimes older Japanese women staying here who are interesting to talk to and practice your Japanese with!

Cons: Unfortunately I could only connect to the WiFi on the first day and not at all after that. Not really a big deal as I had a data sim but a bit disappointing as it worked without a single issue when I stayed last year.

Pros: Hosts were so kind and gave us lots of helps. Dormitory and rounge were cozy.

Pros: Safe and clean. I liked the location - many little stores to visit, a couple of blocks from bus stop and 5-7 minute stroll to train station.

Pros: It was a very pleasant place to stay! Feels like at your mom’s home. Like house for one family. Kitchen has everything you need for cooking, very nice community place, nice and clean showers and toilets.

Cons: Silver Duct tape holding the furniture together is not the best look for a hotel room. It could do with a lick of paint!

Pros: Nice hotel hosted by excellent, styled staff. Clean rooms, good bedding, impressive views on Tokyo with Shinjuku skyscrapers in foreground. Excellent Japanese and good Western breakfast. Excellent location: good compromise between modern and traditional Tokyo, about 100 ramen restaurants, bars and shopping facilities within a 15 min walk radius, 5 min walk from Nakano train station on the Chūō Main Line, 15 min from Shibuya. Will come back !

Cons: Minor remark: Western breakfast is just standard, Japanese breakfast is much more interesting and tasty. But really nothing serious to complain about !

Pros: Nice neighbourhood. Clean and comfortable room, quite big.

Pros: It was located in a convenient place. right in the middle of Nakano which was great. I also liked that it was close to the station.

Cons: The view was very ordinary, the rooms were a little cramped to be honest and the hotel wasn't really a dedicated hotel (as the name suggests it was part of a plaza or complex).

Pros: Location is great and close to the Metro.

Cons: The price is quite high and the rooms are quite small.

Pros: The rooms were big and spacious. Everything was extremely clean, well maintained, etc.

Cons: The only thing I might improve on is signage for entrance to the front desk late at night via an elevator. That entrance area gave a very negative impression and was concerning.

Pros: The breakfast was very good and the staff was extremely kind and accomodating. There is a fitness club in the B floor which is great if you want to take a workout while travelling, it is an extra cost of a little over 1000yen. The staff in all areas were very helpful. The hotel is a little funky as it starts at the 16th floor of a multi purpose building, but once there its all very nice and comfortable. There is a nice park area near by to take a stroll with some nice cafes in the college area slightly behind the hotel. Enjoyed the stay!!

Cons: The air in the room was slightly stuffy, but that was fine once you turn on the air control in the room.

Pros: I like NOTHING about this hotel. Rude staff, sent guest wrong address then claimed that guest was wrong even it was in the email the staff sent!

Cons: - Rude staff, - super dirty, I've never been to a dirty guest house like this in Tokyo! (even Japan) -- Bed room dirty, It's next to the bathroom and on the street, so I could smell the smell from bathroom and all night I couldn't sleep because of the noise from the street. -- Bathroom super dirty with no shampoo and shower gel. -- The sink for brushing teeth looks like the sink in the kitchen (even more dirty) -- The toilet was full of toilet paper everywhere

Cons: On my first night i saw 2 small insects crawling on the woods part of the bunk bed. Not sure what they were but they looked like cockcroach... When I arrived at roughly 8pm, the aircon was not turned on. We turned it on and after a few hours the room started to cool down (fri the 2nd Aug was the hottest day of the week and the room feels like its was on fire) I came into the shower just to find out there was no shampoo/conditioner/washing gel available. Had to go to 7/11 to buy some since I did not bring my own. Later I found a body wash bottle left on the 3rd floor. The hostel does not accept card and they take 2000 yen deposit for their key cards.

Pros: It was good price, good location.

Cons: I haven't tell I have to pay key charge. When I chacking out, I had told that by the staff. The staff exempted, but there are no description on this site. I felt little unpleasant. And, my name wrote wrong on receipt of payment. My name is Asuka, not Ayuka.

Pros: Only location (near JR station Nakano) is ok.

Cons: The house is too old, the worst hostel I've been in Japan. The first and the only one hostel in Japan I've been does not provide shower milk and shampoo. If the total house could be renovated, it would be better.

Pros: The location is about 5 minutes from the station. Upon arrival, check-in was pleasant and friendly. Tuesday nights the staff (Carmen and Tom) cooks some food. One plate is 500 yen. Lettuce, tomato, chicken, tortilla(2), dressing. It was tasty and there were many guests and some visitors. Happy atmosphere! Some interesting travel guides on Japan are available. WiFi seemed strong.

Cons: Warning! BED BUGS!!!! After checking in we were brought to our room. There we saw some beds that were stripped of bedding. A steam cleaner and vacuum were present. An employee, Kenji, asked for us to wait half an hour BEFORE occupying the room. He said, “I have some work to do.” I thought he was a guest and wanted privacy. I was wrong. He was trying to remove a major bed bug infestation. We were allowed to stay BUT not told about the bed bugs. That night, I noticed the first of many, many both adult and juvenile bed bugs . I woke my wife and the other guest in the room. He was Chinese and using google translate, he showed me video he had taken of live, moving bed bugs. Also, he showed me bite marks where the insects feed on blood. The bites are painful and itch. I also woke another guest in another room to inform him. This was at 2:30 am. That room was ok. The three of us went to the first floor to escape the bugs and wait for the staff to come in the morning. With much effort and argument from the tight-fisted owner, we were able to get a full refund and another place to stay . I informed booking.com, but they STILL have not contacted us. Three days later. Major FAIL! We have video and photos of the bedbugs and my wife has two dozen bites all over her body. It is especially outrageous that management put us in a room that they knew was infested, rather than : offering us a non-infested room OR simply giving us a refund and a nights stay elsewhere at their expense, since it was no fault of ours and that would have been the right thing to do. What the did was unforgivable. In general, the place is shabby. No soap, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, sink hot water, one toilet STILL broken (1 year later!?) and smells bad. Bare light bulbs. Needs total remodel. I will be posting photos and updating with new information.

Pros: Convenient location, only one stop away from Shinjuku. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Our flight was delayed and Kenji - (staff member) stayed back and waited for us since staff hours were 0900 - 2200.

Cons: Room was incredibly small, could barely fit me and my partner and were small asians lol. Walls were paper thin - I could hear the person next to me snoring.
