Pros: I have been to this resort many times over the past 8-10 years. It never disappoints me. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the facility is VERY nice. It feels like home to us and we are from the cold north. We love Puerto Vallarta and REALLY love the Marriott Casa Magna! We will be back again next year!

Pros: The Marina area is less congested than the Zona Romantica which gives the whole area a laid back feel. The pool was a great size and you steps away from the beach. Easy bus transportation to other parts of town. Several restaurants in the area if you don't want hotel food. The public areas were nice with decorated with a certain flair.
Cons: I expected more luxe giving the relatively high price - not Four Seasons standards but maybe a little more. The rooms were nice enough but the decor seemed to lack a certain Mexican spark. The rooms were more like generic hotel rooms - nice but generic.

Pros: The whole experience was amazing. Not only is the property beautiful and so relaxing, but the employees are friendly and very helpful.My husband and I do a lot of traveling and have stayed in all kinds/levels of accommodations all over the world. This has become our favorite place and we return just about every year. In fact,we have come so many times that they upgraded us to a suite this last time which was amazing. The restaurants on site are among the best in Puerto Vallarta. The rooms are always clean and the beach is not overcrowded like some of the accommodations in the hotel zone. It's convenient to the airport and is about a 5 minute walk to the Marina which has lots of restaurants and shops.
Cons: The only thing that could be better is to have another few days there.

Pros: The resort staff was amazing beyond any expectations. Friendly, helpful, and willing to go above and beyond to assist guests in any way. The resort is beautiful and well taken care of. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. I would recommend this resort to anyone and plan to come back soon. Thank you Daniel, Marco, Alan and Adrian. There are more people I would like to thank but I didn't get their names but they were great.

Cons: only issue i had was when i requested a late check out, they refused. i asked to speak to a manager and they changed their mind and gave me an extra hour. just seemed weird, it was the first time i've ever been told no on a late check out request at any hotel.

Pros: I hardly ever take the time to review places I've stayed, but I felt the need to share my opinion on this one... My fiance and I recently stayed 3 nights in the honeymoon suite, and we couldn't have been happier! The room (and the entire resort) was gorgeous, the food and drinks were great, and the staff were all sooo friendly and accommodating. It was luxury & relaxation at its finest, and we would highly recommend this resort to anyone! We are missing it already :)

Must try the japanese restaurant The beach is beautiful try snorkeling in there they have very cute fish.
Cons: Sometimes, the trolley took forever. And if you are planning on leaving the property early before the trolley starts operating try to walk to the lobby because when we had our excursion to marrietas islands we called for a ride to the lobby ( we were in tower 5) and they never made it. We had to walk to the lobby and then wait for a taxi in the lobby. We ended up being late to the excursion meeting time. But were lucky enough to get in to the boat.

Cons: They sneakily roped us into a VERY unpleasant time share presentation and were pretty rude about it. We only stayed for 1 night so they basically soured our entire opinion of the place. You also need to take a shuttle and go through a bunch of annoying stairs or elevators just to get from your room to the main lobby.

One morning at breakfast downstairs, I had mentioned to the waiter that my boyfriend and me were loving this place but getting bit so bad by mosquitos after he asked how we were doing. When I came back from getting my breakfast at the buffet, there was mosquito repellant sitting on our table. Arnoldo (our waiter) had left it there for us to use. So nice!! Everyone there was just happy and did whatever they could to make our stay enjoyable-which it was. This place is clean and set in the most perfect location. We cannot wait to go back!!!

Cons: We don't like the rising fees. "Tips" for maid and bell service are now included, and the Westin will charge a US$15 per day "resort fee" starting February 2019. Add 3% hotel tax and the 16% IVA tax that we pay as Mexican residents, and it's not a deal, even at convention rates.

Pros: The beach was nice. The Italian Restaurant was adults only. We ate there all 3 nights of our stay. The staff was great and the resort very clean, as we have mostly found to be true in Mexico.
Cons: We were there celebrating our 35th anniversary. This was not the place for a tranquil vacation. There were lots of children and families. They bused in people on Saturday, and picked them up on Sunday. The resort was very crowded, particularly the pool. The food was mostly buffets. The snack bar served a greasy hamburger that smelled great and tasted even better.

Cons: Other all inclusive resorts I've been at included some free excursions this one had none and not many daily activities to choose from. The options on food was limited on options and time. Only loved one restaurant, Bordeaux. Dress code requirements were a bit restrictive, should have more options for lenient dress. DON'T BUY LIQUOR ON THE CITY TOUR! COMPLETE RIP OFF!

Cons: Only issue we had was that the Mariachi band played in the lobby until 2am, which included trumpets playing loudly. Some guests took that party to their rooms after causing a disturbance. We called front desk and resort compensated us with a couple of $90 spa certificates (hour massage) as well as champagne and choc-covered strawberries. Appreciated that.

Pros: The grounds are lovely and the staff is great. The access to the beach is a real bonus. Senate at all three restaurants and the food was a cut above what I had initially expected, especially the breakfasts. The rooms are a little Spartan, but honestly very comfortable and extremely clean.
Cons: There is no real bar. People hang at the pool all day and they serve drinks in the lobby and restaurants at night, but there isn't a regular bar anywhere on property. Given the amount of alcohol the staff has to run and get (even delivering to rooms) it would seem everyone would be happier with a place that had some music To hang out in. Likely they view the lobby this way, but the ambiance is wrong. It's my only complaint.

Cons: Not being able to accommodate large groups in restaurants, only one table for 8 people in each restaurant, and always taken. Waiters were not permitted to join 2-3 tables to accommodate my party. Tables available at buffet but not too many choices of food, gets tiring after few days. In order to share some meals together as a family we end up eating out at La Leche and town restaurants, spending money not in budget. Would not recommend for groups with more than 5 people.

Pros: The pool and beach were wonderful. The food was great. Loved the omelette, smoothie and quesadilla stations for breakfast. The fish tacos are a must! The grill not only offered hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken wings but guacamole and pico. The rooms were all pool and ocean view and very adequate. But what really stood out was the staff. Not only were they friendly and accommodating to the guests but never saw any impatience or aggravation between coworkers. We WILL be back to Puerto Vallarta and it WILL be at Fiesta Americana.

Pros: The breakfast buffet with omelet bar was great every morning. The coffee shop moved out of the gift shop our last day which was a great improvement. The service in adult lounge was always great and well as the food there. The staff for the most part was very friendly. The restaurant wait staff, the desk personnel, the entrance greeters, the cleaning staff were all amazingly friendly and helpful. We were always greeted with a smile and their salute.
Cons: The hours for the adult lounge were very restrictive. The swim bar closed at 6pm each night which was crazy. I experienced extremely slow service twice while I was there and each of times we left the venue. One of the instances was reported to staff who corrected it the next day, the food on the special nights was lacking flavor and didn’t seem all that special. The overall quality of the food was lacking when you compare it to the Grand Fiesta.

Pros: We loved the whole experience with our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 adult children). It was a clean, beautiful resort with great food and wonderful staff. We especially liked the prime-rib dinner in the buffet restaurant, and enjoyed an excellent Italian meal at the specialty restaurant. Great service everywhere. Compliments to everyone.

Pros: We were upgraded for our stay to a grand master suite which was phenomenal! We loved the view from the wrap around balcony and the room was very comfortable. The pool and beach were also fantastic! We really enjoyed our stay overall and had a great time.
Cons: The food was decent but not overly impressive, especially for the price of the all-inclusive. The reservations at the restaurants booked up prior to our arrival so we never had the chance to eat anywhere except the buffet, so book your reservations early. Overall a great time though! Pros: We've usually been to adult only resorts so we were worried about all the kids but it wasn't bad at all. This resort was great for the value. The music can get loud on one side of the pool area, but if you're on the other side, it's fine. We were also on the 6th floor and didn't hear any of the late music.
Cons: It is far from downtown and traffic can build up on the one road. So if you wanted to go there, plan a full day down there.

It was already over-priced and not worth the value, in my opinion.

Pros: The staff at Almar were wonderful. The rooms were comfortable, very clean and we had a great view of the beach. Having access to the Mantamar Beach Club was nice as we spent a lot of time at the pool. The hotel is welcoming to all but we really appreciated that Almar especially caters to LGBT couples.
Cons: There is still construction going on around the hotel which was a little noisy but it wasn't as intrusive as some people suggested. They will try to sell you on a timeshare breakfast but our rep was very respectful and didn't push us to attend.

Pros: The views, rooms, and rooftop bar with jacuzzis are a plus. I enjoyed the modern room design and the check in process was seamless. Pool and beach are across from property and easily accessible via hotel! Location is less than 5 mins drive to shops and restaurants in the romantic zone (old town).

Cons: I absolutely did not care for the pushy time share sales staff that circles around you every time we walked by. You couldn't even avoid them since their stand is right by the lobby & elevator. In addition, their sales tactics were pretty fraudulent. At first, everything sounds free, then these little fees start getting added and quoted rates change. Even when we were politely declining, they would follow you to the elevator or continue to push. I expected better from Sheraton than to allow this on their resort.

Pros: The location was central enough to walk most places and the bus and cab lines were easy to use. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very courteous.
Cons: Adult beverages were pretty weak. The condition of the rooms was ok, but nothing special and ours was a bit musty. They were also doing renovations on the tops 2 floors of the hotel while we there. You could hear every conversation that anyone was having in the hall and our toilet would occasionally run for no reason and was LOUD. If you love bad covers of any song, then this resort has the music selection for you.

Cons: The constant barrage of timeshare sales people and lack of shuttle service from the airport was annoying. The DJ at the pool was loud and went on far too late. Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent. It's close enough to walk to most things and is right on the beach. The pool area was wonderful too. We never struggled to find lounge chairs by the pool. Staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were simple but clean which was fine for our stay.
Cons: The people in the room next to us stayed out late and were very noisy late at night when they were coming back to their hotel room so the walls must be somewhat thin. The food at the hotel was just ok. I'm glad that we didn't book the all inclusive option for our stay because we would have been tired of the food by the end of our stay. Cons: The price was the same as the 5-star hotels 25 minutes south. My reason for staying at Villa Premier was that is was close into town. But the surrounding area kind of sucked. And Puerto Vallarta is not a super nice place and I would suggest to stay in a higher end place and venture out once a day into town.

Pros: The food here is great! You can also bring in your own food to cook (the rooms have full kitchens and there are grills outside), but I would consider eating at the restaurants. A tip: The wifi is not free, but if you buy something from the restaurant in the market, you can ask for a wifi code that is valid for the entire day. Otherwise, the charge is $10 per day per device. I was never approached once by a sales rep in the lobby, so that wasn't a problem as some reviews have suggested. On the beach, however, everyone has something to sell.
Cons: The hotel is not close to downtown, so a cab ride is required. Also, there are plenty of people trying to sell you things on the beach and that can get a bit tiring.

Cons: Our 'concierge' did the normal, take a 90 minute tour, get some free stuff. The 90 minutes was 4 hours. The free stuff was free anyway. When we didn't but at the end of the tour, two con artists drove us back and set us up for a free breakfast and free tickets to Rhythms of the Night and tour of a new place the next morning WITH NO SALES PITCH. I wouldn't go. My wife and daughter-in-law went. During the taxi ride they were assured NO SALES PITCH several times. When they arrived, they couldn't have breakfast or the free tickets unless they agreed to a "90 minute sales pitch". They left and had to pay for a taxi back. A wasted morning. The bad was so bad that I can't remember anything good about VDP.

Pros: For the most part, the staff was wonderful, and especially helpful and friendly were the guys supplying the pool and beach chairs and umbrellas. Also a special mention for Marcella. She does an excellent job of keeping the beach and pool areas in order, while also having a smile and being sociable. I don't want to forget our maid. She took great care of our room.
Cons: Just a few things I didn't like. The internet service is not good. It's bad enough to have to go to the lobby for service, but even that was spotty. The staff in the restaurant were impatient and a little cranky at times, but I think this might be because, in my opinion, the restaurant is understaffed. Just one more thing. We have some friends that live in Puerto Vallarta, and wanted to have them up to our room to have a cocktail before we all went out to dinner. They were turned away, and think that was rediculous.

The hotel is older and showing some signs to wear-and-tear, this is to be expected along the ocean. I would definitely stay at the Tropicana again!
Cons: The restaurant and bar need some special attention! Some of the staff, in these locations, is ill-tempered and uncaring; this was in sharp contrast to the graciousness of the rest of the staff. Food choices were limited and the restaurant was not open for dinner. The Tropicana, to be a major hotel contender in P.V., needs to attend to their food and beverage departments.
