Pros: This hostel is a breath of fresh air. Super affordable, welcoming, and well-kept! I arrived in Puerto Vallarta in the middle of the night because of a delayed flight, made a last minute booking. Marco happily set me up and it was so easy to check in and have a nice place to land. The other guests were friendly and social and the place has a very warm feel. Best deal out there. A note for the super private that the showers and toilets are in the courtyard (but chances are if you’re staying in a hostel you aren’t a prude anyway!) PV wasn’t my final destination but if it was, I would absolutely stay longer. Marco was super gracious, welcoming, and helpful.

Pros: The best location in Puerto Vallarta, less than 10 min walk to almost everywhere! Public transportation two blocks from El Sunset! Coffee shops, restaurants, bars & night life practically 2 or 3 blocks away.

Pros: Very good question. This was my third visit to el Sunset in five years. Since last visit the owner has engineered and built 2 additional toilets and 2 additional hot water showers. The owner is a bachelor and will will be a great catch for some lucky lady.

Pros: The distance from the bus stop that takes to Sayulita, it's basically a few steps from it. Instead, it is 25/30 minutes walking from the center of Puerto Vallarta. It's a good option for an overnight stay if you are directed to the beaches of San Pancho or Sayulita and maybe you arrive late in Puerto Vallarta at night. The staff was gentle after all.

Pros: The owner was a really nice guy, very engaging if you wanted him to be, and he was always improving the building and accommodations while while I was there (only open 5 months at the time, and an older building) so I got the impression that he cared about our environment. He also asked our (myself and the others staying there) opinions on improvement and management ideas to make our stay more enjoyable. The grounds themselves are unique and beautiful, and the building is a comfortable walk, bus, or taxi ride from the airport and most any other location you would want to visit in Puerto Vallarta.

Cons: The place is filthy, I got a thin sheet to cover my mattress no blanket... The place is rundown and very crowded...I requested a 6 person female dorm and got a 8 person mixed dorm...I do not recommend this place at all...it is a dump.

Cons: From my personal perspective, the property is functional, and ok for a short-term stay, but needs much more attention to maintenance and housekeeping.

Cons: Lights of the bathrooms weren't working and the service, in general, was a bit basic; the electrical outlets of the room weren't working as the ceiling ventilation. The place itself didn't give a sensation of cleanness. I didn't like the presence of a big dog around.

Pros: They served breakfast, but I watched someone cutting up the fruit with bare hands, not ok in time of Covid19, unhygienic anytime. But that said, no servers in Mexico cut up fruit with gloves on, as far as I can see. It is close to the beach and waterfront. The banana bread was hearty, got me through the morning, and the coffee was drinkable. Staff was loud but friendly.

Cons: The stairs to the hotel were difficult for an older person. It would have been nice to have a towel rack and some bedside lamps.

Cons: It cost 3 times more than my other Airbnb’s, and was 3 times worse. I was given a dungeon in the basement with a small window, no view, but 3 panes were cardboard, and the last a lose screen that anyone could open and crawl through. The floor was wet when I cam in so my first steps muddied up the floor. I had to climb up many very steep stairs with a heavy carry-on, sorry for anyone with a real suitcase. Not at all accessible. A ton of noise from staff and above my head until late at night,

Cons: All of the images on the site were of spacious rooms with balconies or exterior views. When we arrived we were put in a 10x12 foot dingy basement room. No where to hang clothes or even put our luggage. Window was at the foot of the door where people entered and exited. Noisy. Completely misrepresented. Not worth the money.

Cons: Economy rooms are very basic, though adequate. Though rooftop terrace is lovely, just a few metal chairs to sit on, no shade area. Common kitchen not very clean!
