Cons: need a refresh

Cons: Parking is a bit cumbersome and needs improvement. Lot gets pretty full at night and has to share parking with other hotel.

Cons: Freezing cold in the room with no way to raise temperature except a small noisy portable radiator that had to run all night long to raise the temperature a few degrees. Shower was supposed to be separate from the tub but it was a regular tub/shower combo. We ran out of tissues because there was only a few in the box without a spare box.

Cons: There was a stocking left on the floor from a previous guest.

Cons: We stayed 2 nights and the did not clean the room the first night. I complained and they simply made note of it and apologized. The hall rugs are dirty and old and need to be replaced.

Cons: the underground parking was too low for us to use

Cons: Rooms need to be renovated. Breakfast could have been included.

Cons: Location being downtown and with all the construction work it was noisy early in the morning and late at night. The fitness and pool facilities are great but it is certainly missing a sauna and hot tub. Parking had to be valet and was 24$per day. That was very expensive and a huge upset that no free parking option was available.

Cons: My tv in the room did not work (no sound on the tv) It eventually got fixed, but took some time staring at the walls in the mean time. The pillows were very thin and cheap, I would highly recommend buying somm good quality pillows that are firm so guests would get a better sleep. At night I had little bites all over me, so I am not sure if I was allergic to the mattress or the laundry detergent they use. The parking service is extremely expensive and it takes a long time for the parking attendants to move all of the cars underground to get to yours, so that is not a very modern or efficient system.

Cons: There is nothing to dislike. The hotel features first rate amenities within a fine old hotel that is maintained impeccably.

Cons: Entrance to drop off very crowded, Bar closed at 11.15 they had no coffee and wouldn't make any, just a very strange attitude at the bar the ambience is more "what are you doing here" than welcome We ordered a queen got a double bed.

Cons: For years I have wanted to stay at this hotel -- I finally had the opportunity and was sorrly disappointed by the way I was spoken to and treated by front desk staff. I asked reasonable questions and said please and thank you and was treated with "...yes but you booked this on-line". As if to say I was not worthy of decent service because I booked my room on-line at the last minute." My room was not as described when I booked and I would suggest the Hotel Management double check what On-Line Travel Services are offering on behalf of their hotel - so that people are not mis-lead and then asking your snobby Front Desk staff about what was promised and then not offered. I would have to say the price for a room is definitely not worth it. Rooms are dated and smaller than reviews and photos. The Lord Elgin did not live up to any of my expectations -- the Front Desk staff could do with better customer service training. However, BellMen/Valet staff and Housekeeping were delightful.

Cons: They charge you for everything - They wanted me to pay .$50 a minute for the business center! If you come to this hotel and need to do work, bring your own laptop and be prepared to pay for the internet.

Cons: Kayak provided incorrect information in the search for the hotel. Kayak app stated that breakfast was free. However, when we got to the hotel we were told that was incorrect. After calling kayak customer service and being on the phone for 30min, we were ignored even after pointing out the issue . Hotel was great, kayak customer service 1/5.

Cons: Service and food in the one restaurant was not great

Cons: Too old. Need refurbishing. Stained carpets, cracked ceilings, too many extension cords. Position of coffee maker hard to get to which makes making that morning cup a great hassle. Toilet we had in our bathroom was so close to the wall and door is in the way.

Cons: A clogged drain in the bathtub, broken toilet, had to beg for extra towels and shampoo, unfriendly staff, no coffee, not even an ice bucket in the room.

Cons: Although an extremely expensive proposition, rooms/some older pieces within them need to be restored or refreshed. A little old looking.

Cons: Not many complaints. There was no microwave in the room and the ice machine was located on the floor below mine. It wasn't as close to the downtown action as some of the other hotels, but it wasn't too far out of the way either.

Cons: The bed wasn't as comfortable as I've experienced in past; old spring style which felt lumpy at times. The AC unit was loud if used.

Cons: The staff could not speak French. The room was obviously cleaned too fast the bed was poorly made and the bathroom was a bit dirty. There was a lot of dust on the furniture. There was no terrasse and no pool. There was no recycle bin in the room. The strong chemical perfume in the lobby.

Cons: When we arrived, there was no power in the hotel. Of course this is not their fault, but we weren't even informed by the concierge when checking in, it was the teenage doorman who told us that there was no power. Not a great first impression. When they checked us in, they sent us to an occupied room which was absolutely mortifying. The next morning we woke up and noticed that there was a blood stain on the top sheet.. that was not from my partner or I. We immediately called and asked for the sheets to be changed, and informed them we were heading out for the rest of the day. When we returned back to the hotel hours later, the sheets had not been changed. Totally disgusting. The next morning my partner decided to stay in Ottawa one extra day, and wanted to stay in the room an extra night (it was close to everything and his stuff was already there). When we went downstairs to pay the extra charge, they took an ADDITIONAL deposit. Totally ridiculous as they still had a deposit from the first two nights. Definitely would not stay here again! The location was great but there were far too many issues.

Cons: None of the dining options were very affordable, and breakfast is not included.

Cons: Needs to be more clear about parking. Is there a valet stand? Do we leave everything with the desk? Wasn’t clear on arrival.

Cons: Lack of curtain or window screen. Only a blackout shade was available so either your window was open for two very close buildings to peer into or your room was dark. Also the hotel was a little worn and the carpet needed a shampoo.
