Pros: We stayed for New Year and I genuinely could not have made a better decision than for us to attend the gala. It was the loveliest even either of us has ever attended. We bought a floor length dress and a three piece suit and tie for the occasion and were not disappointed. We even had to send my dress last minute to the cleaners to be steam pressed and the staff got it back on time for us to attend the gala without rushing. After champagne and chatting at first, we all made our way to our assigned large round table. We sat with 4 other couples from all over the world. The dinner and dessert were lavish and the conversation was thrilling. The service was incredible. After we ate we followed our new friends to the lounge for swing jazz, dancing, a champagne toast and a wonderful send off to the new year. I truly had the time of my life. The next day we woke up exhausted and a bit hungover so we stayed in. A bubble bath in the beautiful clawfoot tub, a hot cup of peppermint tea, room service meals and a Law and Order marathon was just what the doctor ordered. We cannot say enough good things about Hayfield. Our sincerest thanks to Claire and the rest of the staff for making New Year 2020 the best of our lives so far.

Pros: The rooms were beautiful, clean, and spacious. We arrived early, got a room quickly, and even were upgraded to a suite just like that. The staff treated us like queens and kings, making us feel like part of their family. Everyone was cheerful and helpful during our stay, and the bartenders were eager to talk about local places to see and shop at. A highlight indeed for our Ireland trip.

Cons: The hotel is hard to find. Even the GPS struggled to get us there. Old world atmosphere, with some unusual and welcome additions; a bottle of whisky at the reception desk to parch the thirst and ease the frustration of locating the place. Another fun touch, a putter and play practice green in the room. It is a nice place but would I stay there again? probably not.
It's the little things that matter in a hotel and the dinning reception left us cold.
We made dinner reservations and showed up on time, appropriately dressed, only to be kept waiting while others streamed by, were welcomed, and seated. Eventually,We were placed in a back room at what must have been the worst table in the place, center stage, traffic area in a room surrounded by cozy booths. The Food and service excellent, but the second rate treatment left a bad taste.
So we move on, to a better experience somewhere else.

Pros: The Staff and the way how this Hotel is focused on the Customer. When we arrived to our room, we received a call, asking if was everything ok wiht the room. Unfortunately the room had a issue with cleaning, but in less than five minutos a person from the Reception was taken us to another room (with one upgrade in terms of room and breakfast). The Receptionist helped us with information about restaurants in the town.

Cons: The aircondition unit in the room was leaking, we stayed in a superior room before and this time we got a smaller one, not sure that it should be called superior, also the bathroom was small and the bathroom door was really small so if you are over 180 cm watch your head. I would stay there again though, it is a cool place.

Pros: What a fantastic place to stay, staff are so friendly and courteous.I stayed a few different nights as my partner was having big surgery in the Mercy which was only a 3 minute walk away.I had to wait for good bit there in the lounge the day oh his discharge and they went out of their way offering me tea or coffee.I could not rate the place and staff high enough,even held the room provisionally nights for me when I wasn't sure if I would be staying up or not due to the flu outbreak at hospital.Thanks to each and everyone of you.

Cons: The checkout experience was disappointing. When checking out the receptionist was on a personal phone call all the time while dealing with us checking out and settling up. We paid the bill and left without even a "Thank you" or "Was everything OK for your stay", or "have a safe trip" while he was so preoccupied. It was as if we didn't matter. As I said overall we enjoyed our stay but that checkout experience left a bit of a bad taste in our mouths, and to paraphrase an old saying - last impressions last. I subsequently complained by email to the hotel with no response and then to Dalata Hotels the owners, and I got an apology from the hotel. It was a bit of too little too late. We don't normally complain about individuals but this experience made us feel belittled.

Cons: Parking is very bad, noticed during our stay too that the leisure centre users were nabbing a lot of the spots! We paid a premium price for what we expected to be an executive room, when we arrived the room was dark, musky, one window looking directly into a hostel, the other into a graveyard. Upon entering my boyfriend noticed a huge wet spot on the carpet, we dismissed it as we thought a cleaner had spilled a mop bucket or something, and that it’d dry up, that night we noticed more wet patches all over the room, the room smelled horrible, it was damp and cold and was not pleasant to sleep in. As I suffer from asthma the damp was bad for me health wise too. The next morning we made a complaint about the room and we were told that they’d have another room ready in ten minutes, an hour and a half later, after us having to be persistent, we moved to another room, this room was better, but nothing special about it, there was nothing executive about it, overall our experience was more of a three star hotel when our room was changed. Really not happy about the premium we paid for a nice room because the damp room was frankly unacceptable for a four star. We paid too much money for the experience we had - and I’m still coughing from our first night!! :((

Cons: it was unwelcomeing the door person paul o connell had no manners and was very unclear in his job and to mention i had already paid for the accommodation online and was charged again on arriving i rang the owner a couple days later and explained the story and he said i would be refunded in a few days which never happened so i think i will be taken legal action as i will never book accommodation in a sub stanard shed of a house if you could call it that.

Cons: Health & Safety - There were no fire extinguishers on the brackets/holders for them on either the 1st or 2nd storey landings. And the fire escape map on the back of the bedroom door did not show the correct room or route to emergency exit

Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We booked our stay last-minute and they did their best to accommodate us and got us a cheaper rate than what we had booked. Each person that we talked to at reception gave us helpful tips for our trip and made some great recommendations!
Beds were comfortable enough.
We had a room with an ensuite, though we didn't know it was an ensuite until we were leaving...oops. We just never thought to look. The bathrooms attached to the rooms are much nicer than the public bathrooms.
Continental breakfast is offered in the mornings. I believe it was 3 or 5 euros each.

Cons: 1) female dorm on 3rd floor & private girl’s shower on 1st/ground floor. 2) Have to past smokers hanging out around front entrance to enter/exit hostel. 3) no individual lockers under bunk beds - poor security of belongings

Cons: I was in hostel during 5 nights. I tried to communicate the best options because I was leaving very early. Result - for 2 nights they sent me to sleep in unchanged bed! That is result of phone calls and talking twice a day about it to the staff. The worst 5 days of my life. They didn't want to return all the money, but they offered for two nights of dirty sheets- thinking that that is good enough for all the troubles and dirty beds. Be aware - they don't take responsibility and ignore attempts of communication and emails.
