Pros: We stayed for New Year and I genuinely could not have made a better decision than for us to attend the gala. It was the loveliest even either of us has ever attended. We bought a floor length dress and a three piece suit and tie for the occasion and were not disappointed. We even had to send my dress last minute to the cleaners to be steam pressed and the staff got it back on time for us to attend the gala without rushing. After champagne and chatting at first, we all made our way to our assigned large round table. We sat with 4 other couples from all over the world. The dinner and dessert were lavish and the conversation was thrilling. The service was incredible. After we ate we followed our new friends to the lounge for swing jazz, dancing, a champagne toast and a wonderful send off to the new year. I truly had the time of my life. The next day we woke up exhausted and a bit hungover so we stayed in. A bubble bath in the beautiful clawfoot tub, a hot cup of peppermint tea, room service meals and a Law and Order marathon was just what the doctor ordered. We cannot say enough good things about Hayfield. Our sincerest thanks to Claire and the rest of the staff for making New Year 2020 the best of our lives so far.

Pros: The rooms were beautiful, clean, and spacious. We arrived early, got a room quickly, and even were upgraded to a suite just like that. The staff treated us like queens and kings, making us feel like part of their family. Everyone was cheerful and helpful during our stay, and the bartenders were eager to talk about local places to see and shop at. A highlight indeed for our Ireland trip.

Cons: The hotel is hard to find. Even the GPS struggled to get us there. Old world atmosphere, with some unusual and welcome additions; a bottle of whisky at the reception desk to parch the thirst and ease the frustration of locating the place. Another fun touch, a putter and play practice green in the room. It is a nice place but would I stay there again? probably not.
It's the little things that matter in a hotel and the dinning reception left us cold.
We made dinner reservations and showed up on time, appropriately dressed, only to be kept waiting while others streamed by, were welcomed, and seated. Eventually,We were placed in a back room at what must have been the worst table in the place, center stage, traffic area in a room surrounded by cozy booths. The Food and service excellent, but the second rate treatment left a bad taste.
So we move on, to a better experience somewhere else.

Birthdays were very kindly acknowledged with a little chocolate treat delivered to our room which was a lovely surprise and touch...thank you! It was great being able to take the kids to the pool for a swim in the morning. We had a fabulous stay and will hopefully get the chance to come and stay again.

Cons: The carpets in the corridor looked very grubby but it was nice to see that our room was clean! We thought that the breakfast was quite expensive for what it was, although it was nice enough. We would still come back.

Cons: There was a couple of mix ups with food orders and a delay with one dinner,everyone else finished food by the time the last dinner came out but no apology. The manager did apologise when said to him and deducted money from the bill.

Cons: One of our rooms appeared to be wheelchair accessible and the only problem was the shower floor was filthy, so much so that we decided to use the bath rather than stand in the shower. The hotel is a little far out of town to walk in comfortably at night. Would be nice to have a bar fridge in the room.

Cons: I didn't mind this actually but the Kingsley is about a 15-20 minute walk to the city center. You could take a cab or walk it. The reason i didn't mind was because it was far enough away that you weren't surrounded by the noise.

Cons: There is nothing I didn't like! The room was beautifully presented and was sparkling clean. I loved the bedding and all the little touches that made everything so comfortable. Every single staff member was warm, welcoming and charming. I will be back!

Cons: The first morning I woke up I had no heating. The problem was resolved once I reported it. However after that my room was so hot that I could not sleep. I didn't want to eat in the main restaurant one evening and was informed that bar food was not available after 5pm. Choosing not to sit in my room to eat had to leave the hotel to eat elsewhere. On my return to the hotel about 8.30pm saw people eating food in the bar! Pointed this out when checking out and the receptionist couldn't confirm whether food was available or not. I think it would be nice to have another food options available in the evening other than a la carte or room service. This would probably put me off staying in the hotel again.

Cons: This was our 3rd stay at this hotel. On this occasion we had a balcony room and there was a lot of wind on the Sunday night causing a lot of noise from the screens between the balconies. So did not get a good nights sleep. I am sure it can be rectified.

Cons: Elevators could do with some sprucing up and the jolt with which they stop on reaching your floor can easily raise an eyebrow. Food is only available at set times in the restaurant. I had a late start on Sunday morning and there was little available.

Cons: It may be wrong but it doesn’t feel like it is a city centre location. The walk between Patrick Street and the Hotel feels never ending and full of hills and long uphill roads. Minor issue though as everything about the stay was perfect. Will be back.

Cons: Over looking graves in church , had to keep curtains closed. Rooms were freezing had to keep ringing & to ask to put on heating. ( not ideal) . Rooms very noisy could hear doors banging all night .Staff we had encountered not friendly. ( no hello/goodbye, barely two words said to us) . Swimming area was filthy by the pool . Steam room stank of musky smell which you could still smell over all the peppermint in there) For a 4 star , no shower caps/ bathrooms / slippers.

Cons: My check-out experience there was really disgusting. When I went to the reception to check out in the morning of 26, December, there was no one. -Hi, I’d like to check out. An inpatient face turned out from the room backward, and received my key card (he is said to be the owner). -May I leave my belongings here, I’ll go back toni... -There, the white door. I dropped my belongings and went to the shared kitchen to heat my pizza, but sadly to find there is no scale on their old oven. I asked a staff (or a guest) there for help, he was confused with the oven too, and advised me to ask the reception. Alright, I went back to the reception. Again, there was no one. -Hi, anyone there. Could u tell me how to use the oven? The receptionist slid out on his office chair with an even more inpatient face, and rolled his eyeballs behind the glasses. -I don’t know how to use it, ask the staff there. For a moment, I was like “???”. -But the staff there told me to ask u, there is no scale on... - I said, I don’t know how to use it, I only do the check-out work! Alright, I have to turn back to the kitchen. U think it’s the end? No, here comes the climax. The receptionist ran after me when I was about going into the kitchen. Interesting that he was finally willing to pause his urgent “check-out work”. -Wait wait, u have no courtesy, u shouldn’t talk to me like this! Again, I was like “???” Ahh...I understand, I still have to say “Thank u sooo much” and wish him a happy Christmas even though he turned a cold shoulder to me and repeatedly interrupt me in a very rude manner. -I said “could you” and u refuse to help, think I am the one without good manner? -I told u to ask the staff in the kitchen! -But the staff told me to ask u!(The staff, or the guest was at present, and he explored the operation of the old oven with me at last.
