Pros:NothingCons:There was a line of 20 people waiting to get their cars, which did not move. I waited for 30 minutes, during which TWO customers were helped, before making another reservation with Avis, who was able to get me a car in 15 minutes. The Budget attendant was not moving with any perceivable urgency, and was not wearing a mask during any encounter with customers. Budget over-rented for a limited amount of cars, and employees showed blatant disregard for customers' safety during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. Will never rent from Budget again.Reviewed 15 Jun 2020

Pros:Not muchCons:Had to wait 45 min in line to pick up vehicle, was only the 3rd person in line. They didn't have a vehicle ready for me so had to wait a while for that. I chose and paid for a FULL SIZE SUV and they gave me a compact SUV. When I called Budget customer service they told me I was wrong, it was the correct vehicle class. Its not. Budget lies. The vehicle (Chevy Equinox) is a BAD vehicle. Terrible performance and unsafe due to visibility. The wipers were not in working condition and we had to drive an hour through NYC at night through a rain storm. The tire pressure was not correct or there was a slow leak, didn't have time to figure it out. Returning the vehicle was a terrible experience and the Newark Airport desk staff was rude and totally unhelpful. I will never ever choose budget again.Reviewed 19 Jan 2021

Pros:Both pickup and dropoff were excellent - quick and efficient.Cons:Although car was clean throughout a previous driver or passenger must have been a smoker as there was a lingering smell of cigarette smoke. Car felt like it had more than 15k miles on it but that might just have been the model or the car.Reviewed 23 Oct 2017

overchargePros:In New Jersey where I pick up the car they were polite and help me out so muchCons:now where I drop off the car it was Different . The rep was helpful But went it to her pen, she thought I was going to steal it saying that the only one I have. the next I came back because I found the car key in my pocket. I went to the same rep. She ignores me at first and when I told her about the car key. she told me that I had to go around the car lot and pressing the horn button so I can find the car. for 20 min I could not find the car so I can turn this key. I went back ask her to help all she did was pop it up on the computer and telling me that the car is in the lot. to back out there and look for it after 10 more min. I was charged twiceCons:When i went to rent a car in the first place, they did now know if i had liability or collision insurance coming from kayak that i have purchased. They told me they can’t see it because i have purchased it from kayak not budget. While she was processing, we were not even done with the transaction and she slided our card and told me, it is not going to charge us. The total amount was 625.69$ which was absolutely different from the price that i see on my reservation since they suggested me to buy liability or collision. However, I told them let me check my insurance status from kayak and she did not finish our process. I figured out that i had an at least collision insurance from kayak and when i showed them my confirmation again, the price is dropped to 444.56$ and this time we had done the process and they gave us bill. The problem is i asked my bank account at that time and saw i was charged with the following prices. I asked a woman who was working in budget that i was charged twice and she told me i should’t worry, the first cost will be released in 24 hours. However, it has been 3 days and it was not removed from my account which concerns me. I’d appreciate if i only pay the money what was i charged for and take care of this issue. Plus, the reason they tried to sell collision insurance twice to me was a little bit skeptical even though i told them i paid 27$ for something from kayak. I guess they tried to take advantage of me when they saw i was an international people. To sum it up, I have two payments that took from my bank account. One is 444.56 which is the exact and same price that shows in my bill when i returned the car. Other is from the one they took it accidentally which i have been told that it is going to be released in 24 hours. I really did not like their attitude to me and my family. They were very rude and not helpful and tried to scam us by selling more insurance than i need. Cons:Wrong car was in my assigned pick-up space. I loaded luggage, plugged in phone, set-up GPS for destination routing, and drove to exit gate, only to be told I had the wrong car. No one offered to help me find the right one, so I had to go back, re-park, take my luggage out, unplug and store my phone, and walk back inside to the rental counter. The rental agent walked back outside to look with me, and we discovered that the gate attendant had moved the vehicle. Once I started driving, I noticed the windshield washers were not functioning.Reviewed 11 Feb 2017
