It advertised air conditioning, but it was central air, not adjustable in each room, and the air had been turned off for the season, so our room was extremely warm & stuffy. Also, the room was extremely small, barely big enough for the double bed. The bathroom was less than desirable, black/dirt between all the floor tiles and the toilet paper roll was attached to a broken toilet paper holder. The lobby was stuffed with dingy, overstuffed couches.
Ok it is important to be sure of the dates you book; I made a mistake and although we were able to get in, there is NO crediting back for an error. We arrived later than expected due to traffic, and the lady was still waiting for us for which we were grateful. This is a small hotel with a nice little restaurant that provided us with breakfast of our choice every day. You could also get a drink or order lunch or dinner there at a reasonable price. There are no elevators so you must be able to do stairs and carry your own luggage. The rooms of this little boutique hotel are small but fit our needs...we are gone 12 hours a day. The bathroom was clean and you are given a key to the hotel and the stairway and your room as the hotel closes at 11 pm. The room does not have a hairdryer .The location could not have been better as we walked everywhere......the parking garage is right around the corner at about $18 a day....have to go in and out for a new ticket each day.
Not the hotel's fault, but the traffic and construction in Montreal is awful. We got right to the city line fine and then after driving 2 hours aimlessly around....several people wrote down directions only to find out there was yet another detour or road closed for the weekend.....finally we found a taxi driver that we paid to lead the way to the hotel and parking garage. I am not sure what we would have done without him. The receptionist waited for us past 11 pm although she faced a 1.5 hour journey home herself for what should be a 25 minute drive. We stayed put in the parking garage except for our last day adventure to Montmorency Falls which we did in daylight! I think all of Montreal's tourist employees depend heavily on tips and it seems that many tourists are not used to tipping or tipping "accordingly"....saw some give 50 cents...many none at all. The guy at the reception desk asked us directly..."you left a tip, right????" which I thought was a bit rude ...we had of course......but in Quebec they tended to add it right on ...a hefty tip.... or came right out and asked for one!
It was a terrible experience. Rooms too small. No elevator. Staff unfriendly. Will not recommend.
Staff first and foremost.
When I first walked into the lobby it was very cute and quaint and homy. The restaurant was located right off the lobby and the included breakfast was hot and delicious! I had one supper in the restaurant which was also very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful! Close to OLD Port Montreal with lots of shopping and history to be found.
The room was very small and I was expecting at least a queen-size bed. the room was barely 12 X 12 and had only two single beds and not the queen I was expecting. The room was so small there was no room for a chair or desk and with the weather being rainy I spent more time in my room than normal so I had no place to sit and watch TV or do some paperwork. The beds were not very comfortable and they squeaked so loud every time you moved on them that I am sure the neighbors heard them. The bedspreads that were used were so oversized thay had to tuck them under the bed on the floor making it look sloppy. Also no elevator so if you have heavy bags it is hard getting up the winding stairs, especially if you are on the third floor as I was. Not a good choice if you have issues with stairs and/or lifting heavy luggage.
Breakfast. Updated furniture
