Pros: Amazing breakfast. Wonder king bed. The lobby rivals all others. They did a great job working with the tremendous constraints of Covid. All guests and staffed were masked in common areas. Tissue and hand sanitizers were everywhere. Pool participants were limited along with elevator riders.

Pros: We booked a last-minute room at the Pfister and loved our stay from start to finish. The room was beautiful and clean with a great view, service was stellar, and the location could hardly be improved. It doesn't hurt that the hotel is where we stayed after getting engaged! Great experience and we will definitely stay again next time we're in Milwaukee.

Pros: Beautiful hotel with tons of character and charm. Good service, friendly staff, comfortable accommodations. Hotel lobby bar and Blu were excellent. Complimentary breakfast in the Cafe offered good food and full choice of anything on menu. Onsite amenities such as spa, shops and additional restaurants offer an extra touch.
Cons: For the price of the rooms, wifi was not free. Given the necessity in today's day and age, not to mention that it is complimentary in many more basic hotels, this was a big let down. Especially when service in the tower is spotty for mobile without Wifi. It felt like a nickeled and dimes amenity. Clientele felt a bit uppity.

Pros: Intensive training on staff, was very evident where I was approached by every person that worked in the hotel with a smile and inquisitive in nature to see what I might need. Was there for four days for Summerfest and had recently stayed at a Kimpton in Austin on rainy Street and enjoyed it. I was able to the enjoy the upstairs rooftop bar for a very short period as it was too busy . Complementary bicycles were a very nice touch, as I am putting them at two of my rental properties now for clients that come and stay .
Cons: Not having coffee makers in the room is a mistake. I understand the need to possibly get people out of the rooms too co-mingle down in the lobby, yet it's imperative that the first thing I do when I wake up is have a cup of coffee while I shower, news , prepare . I do this at every hotel I stay and this is the only hotel that has not offered it, and I know that's coming through some type of other reasoning either to generate coffee sales or to make the lobby appear bustling. I do not like the open shower which was the same in the Austin hotel. I like to slide a door shut or have a curtain as I feel rushed to get out of the shower because I am feeling like I am getting water all over the floor, which was somewhat the case. I'm not sure who's design idea that was but not crazy about it .

Pros: My wife and I stayed at the Iron Horse Hotel for a short weekend getaway from Chicago. We loved the hotel. The food at Smyth was great; don't miss the goat cheese appetizer and pork belly. The bar was also a really nice touch; the decor was all dark leather/wood and the cocktails were great. The staff for the entire hotel were some of the best I have seen and I stay in hotels 3-4 nights a week for business.
Cons: The only reason I gave the hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the dog policy. We live in a high-rise in downtown Chicago that allows dogs, so we weren't expecting to be bothered by a little noise. However, there were multiple occasions when dogs would be crying and howling (most likely from being left alone in an unfamiliar room) early in the morning and late at night. This wasn't the best for our romantic weekend away, but wouldn't stop me from visiting the Iron Horse Hotel in the future.

The Iron Horse is a great facility, unfortunately currently being let down by a lack of qualified, experienced staff. I understand some of that is due to challenges with ramping up staffing levels post-pandemic, but I can assure you the prices do not reflect the lack of service. So I find it hard to cut them too much slack for that. As I said, the hotel itself is great. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The atmosphere throughout has a very cool vibe. In normal times, there would be an outside bar, inside restaurant called ASH and inside bar with pool table. Most of the time the inside bar and pool table were closed and in darkness, even when the hotel was full. If we wanted to have a drink and unwind in the evening, we had to go out to the outdoor bar to order, then we could not get back in the same doors we just came through. We would have to basically walk out to the parking lot and back through the main entrance to the hotel to get back inside with our drinks in-hand. When we asked the restaurant manager if he though that was odd, he looked at us blankly and said "no", and walked off. We dined in ASH on 1 night only. Firstly, we were told even though we were staying in the hotel, we could not dine there without a reservation. After some common sense finally prevailed, our dining experience unfortunately didn't get much better. Drinks took as long as the food to arrive, and when they did they were wrong. And the bone-in rib eye was the worst steak of our trip... disappointing. All in all, I'd like to think the Iron Horse could be a lot better than what we saw. I'd consider going back, but not for a while by which time they hopefully have a chance to get their staffing right.

Pros: I stay in hotels all over the country and this place was one of a kind. If you like motorcycles, staying here is a no brainer. You're a short walk away from the HD Museum and the feel and decor of the hotel has a rugged-modern vibe. I didn't get a chance to hang out at the bar but it looked like like a upbeat scene. Their signature restaurant was excellent.

Pros: The valet attendants were wonderful. They gave us great recommendations for restaurants, remembered us as we grabbed our car multiple times, and were quick with getting the car. We were there for the Hal marathon and one of the attendants probably saw as many miles as we did getting the unusual line of people's cars at 6 a.m. He kept his smile on and joked around as he left multiple times to get cars.

Pros: The hotel overall was very beautiful, we had a clean, great sized room. Parking did cost $20, but they give you a pass when you check in so you can come and go as many times as you'd like with the one ticket they give you. There's also convenient 90 minute parking right by the main entrance if you just need to quick pop in and out. There are no microwaves or refrigerators in the room, but you can request and pay $10 a night for them. Overall we had a great experience.

Pros: Everything was great. The room was lovely and clean, the staff friendly and courteous. I definitely would stay there again. The one "issue," and I use that term very loosely, we alerted them to and they took care of it. The shuttle was convenient, the driver friendly. The food in the cafe was great, the service was fast and incredibly kind. All in all, it was great and we're excited to go back.

Cons: The blinds are really poor. You need thicker blinds to keep the light out. You can't keep the blinds open and expect to have any sort of privacy. The door from the shower to the rest of the room does not seal, so coming out of the shower is freezing. The walls are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING from surrounding rooms. They say the mattresses are firm. There are not firm.

Cons: Parking is limited to pretty much only valet but they were at least quick in getting the car. The biggest issue is noise. I could hear the people in the room next to ours having conversations without any difficulty. This place was popular with bachelor and bachelorette parties which meant the noise at night was extremely loud and went into the early morning.

Pros: For the most part everything was great, the staff was wonderful and inventive to my needs when I had them. The room was nice and clean, though our view was an empty lot, that that was not a large concern for us. The exercise equipment was wonderful to use, I kinda wish my gym offered those machines. The valet attendants were awesome, never had to wait more than 5 minutes for our car. One of the attendants even made sure he said goodbye to us when we were leaving. It was very sweet of him to take the time to give us a proper send off.
Cons: There was only a couple things that I didn't like about our stay. The indoor pool room was very cold, and so was the pool itself. Granted it was almost 80 degrees outside, and I wouldn't have mind one or the other being cold, but with an indoor pool it was too much that both were cold. The only other issue we had was our shower head in our room, it had small streams of water that shot out in every direction but at you. We mentioned it to the front desk and they gladly offered us to move rooms, but my partner and I chose not to considering we had already been there overnight. We didn't think to check the shower's water spraying direction. In the future I will.

Cons: Room rates are not inexpensive, so one would expect a little more for their buck. But not at the Hotel Metro. Apparently, they must feel their location, which is good, and the fact their aren't a large hotel is enough. Luke warm showers, no matter time of day. Nickle and dime with charges...for instance a room service fee of $4 if you charge something on the room. Even if you go and get it yourself in the restaurant to bring up to the room, Ridiculous. And a surprise $4.99 historic preservation fee, which is clearly NOT going into upgrading their hot water delivery system. Because of these things, I would not recommend. There are plenty of other cool places to stay in Milwaukee. Don't waste your money.

We arrived at 8PM to check in and apparently they were in a "sold out" status the Saturday night we stayed with them, so they gave our room away and could only offer us a MURPHY BED ROOM w/ zero view... They additionally did not refund us the difference for the room we booked, and half-heartedly offered to buy us a round of drinks for the inconvenience, but only after we asked. None of the staff we dealt with were very friendly. Never staying there again!

They pointed us towards their restaurant and said you can get some drinks and food to wait for your room to be ready. After spending $80, waiting 2.5 hours, and complaining multiple times our room was finally ready and cleaned at 6pm at night!! They gave us a free drink as well as free breakfast coupon the next time but we were still very frustrated having to wait in their restaurant for our room to be ready 3 hours after check in time. Pros: The staff were all very pleasant, the decor divine (elegant/classy). And the breakfast was GREAT! Nice convenient location, easy access to shopping and theaters galore. I love visiting Mikwaukee, there's so much to do especially downtown. What a treat!!
Cons: There was an odor in our room occasionally (the only thing I can akin it to was raw sewage). While it wasn't continually present it did waft through a couple of times and I was left to wondering what the heck it was or where it was coming from. I didn't address my concern with the staff, as it wasn't a continual odor and reminded myself it is an older building (it's on the National Register of historic places) and these things cans/do happen. My bed however was slightly lopsided and that made for a little bit of uncomfortableness. My only other concern was the amount of panhandlers out on the street near the building. While that's not the hotels fault, I do feel their staff should make certain at all times their guests are not bothered by them especially when walking to the surface parking lot which is about a block away.

Cons: Security tried to barge into the room to do a "welfare check" while I was trying to nap. Luckily, the chain lock was fastened. They asked to see me face to face even after giving a clear status update. Why would I open the door to a complete stranger that just attempted to enter the room? That does not seem smart. I called the front desk who said it was done because the "Do Not Disturb" sign was out for two days. I will not be staying at this hotel again. I was unable to to get a good night's rest because of this incident.

Cons: Although you can tell they have great smoke cleaners, the amount of smoke encountered in the casino is still noticeable, and the only way to the restaurants is through the casino! The checking out process needs some help - I haven't had to physically check out at the front desk in years, unless I wanted to. Usually there is a receipt under your door the day of checkout.

Cons: When we checked in it was about 75 degrees fahrenheit outside... and about 80 degrees in our hotel room. It was very hot and muggy, and the windows did not open. The air conditioning was not working at all and the staff was totally unconcerned about remedying the situation. They tried telling us that everything was working fine, but of course it was not. The only thing the hotel did to fix it was to give us a box fan. They told us that it would cool off at night... but it did not. Multiple people complained but nothing was done to accommodate us or to compensate us for the inconvenience. Staff was at worst, rude, and at best, disinterested. When we checked in at 3:00 on a Thursday they only had 1 person working so we had to wait a very long time to check in. The bathroom was leaking water from the ceiling above the sink. The furniture in the room was worn and in need of repair or replacement. For $20 more a night we could have stayed somewhere much nicer.

Pros: Not too far from Old World section of Milwaukee. Made the walk once. Room was nice enough. Its got everything you need (fridge, safe, decent shower, A/C, etc.) . The staff looked like work release clients from a halfway house but they were all fairly friendly and helpful with directions and carrying bags. Cheap.
Cons: WiFi had serious issues. Would drop and stay down for hours. Had I known that I would have never stayed. The neighborhood isnt ideal. Lock your car. When I asked about the shuttle taking me to the airport they told me they wouldnt recommend it because sometimes the driver "oversleeps" and to take a cab or a bus instead. This was fine for a single adult male staying a couple days with a vehicle. Probably wouldnt recommend a family on an extended trip though.

Pros: We only stayed one night while we made a trip up to a Brewers game while we were staying in Chicago. The hotel has a shuttle that will take you to the game and back for $10. We didn't use this feature, but it is a nice one to have if you don't have a car. They will also shuttle you anywhere within 2 miles for free. The room was clean and quiet. Parking and wifi are free. Parking filled up at night when we returned from the baseball game, but we parked on the street with no problems. The free breakfast was typical of a free breakfast, but when trying to save a little money it is a nice feature to have.

Pros: The staff was very nice. The room was very nicely done and updated. Our room luckily faced nicer new apartments, however a sign on the fence of the new homes said “no loitering or prowling” The air conditioner was cold but very loud. Location and customers were terrifying.
Cons: When we arrived we had to drive around all the people loitering in the parking lot. Watched a drug deal in the parking lot. The entire hotel smelled of marijuana. Got in the elevator to find two people high, taking to themselves. Made it to our room and the chaos began. Yelling and screaming from rooms around us. It was around 7pm so we decided people were just exited to get into their rooms. Came back around 10pm to what appeard to be a prostitute and her John in the hall Way and heard loud music and yelling the entire night. I’m talking music like loud bass from your 18 year old car. Called and went down to the front desk. The girl at the desk was apologizing and sent security up to the room. The people would turn the music down and then turn it right back up once the security left. Constant banging of doors and yelling all night. I don’t recommend staying here unless you want to be on a drug bust on an episode of cops.

Cons: Sketchy, sketchy place. I personally should have done better research , as I am unfamiliar with Milwaukee, but this was bad nights stay. We walked in and were welcomed by a dirty elevator. The community room on our floor looked to have been used for a party of some sort and it was filthy and full of trash. No staff member was seeing to it. Our room looked to be in pretty good shape. At about 11pm the smoke alarm went off in the hall way. I am assuming it was a false alarm from some one smoking in a room or stairwell. The fire department did arrive, but we were not given any instruction from the staff so we stayed in our room. Our rooms alarm was not going off. After about 15 mins of the alarm going off it stopped and we were able to sleep. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone who can afford something nicer.
