10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were three couples attending an event, and Penelope's Guesthouse was an ideal base for us, with all enjoying the same quality rooms, and comfort. Clean, safe and nice little touches that made one comfortable and at home - flowers in the room, rusks, fruit and wine to enjoy. We will definitely return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved our stay! We even changed our travel plans to come back here and stay one more night to drive around the wineries and relax before flying back to Europe. The guesthouse is beautifully located with amazing views of the mountains from the balcony. The location feels very safe and cozy and is perfect if you want to visit vineyards and not get stuck in heavy traffic downtown. Uber is very cheap so we preferred to leave our car safe at the property and drive for dinner to the center. The rooms are clean, bright and nicely decorated with fresh flowers. Penelope is such a sweet host. We loved our breakfast each morning! Our incoming flight was delayed and we only arrived at 2am. But even then checking in was not an issue. Thank you for your hospitality!!!
Cons: Everything was perfect!

Pros: We really liked the location , on top of a hill , with a wonderful view of the mountains . The host was a real sweetheart and went out of his way to make the stay unforgettable . It is recomandable however to take a higher room catagory , since the basic rooms are a bit dark and cold .

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Congratulations to Leonie and her team for creating such a wonderful Lodge. Their eye for detail is fantastic. Everything is a pleasure to look at including the beautiful gardens. A BIG thank you to Mr Jack, the elderly and overweight Head of Security, for giving us such a lovely welcome. We have stayed at many excellent SA establishments and Eikendal is certainly one of the top ones. The walk through the vineyard to the wine tasting room and the restaurant was around five minutes. Unfortunately the weather was not at its best and we had to use the car in the evening. This was no problem. Once through the Lodge main gate it was less than a minutes drive on the minor Eikendal Road to get to the restaurant. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Eikendal Lodge and also add that their wines are very good indeed!
Cons: Nothing

Pros: perfect location, nice staff, great breakfast, nice hidaway... what more do you desire?

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb and excellent staff.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice room - spacious and well set up
Cons: The large mirror in the bathroom did not work
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for five nights - and really enjoyed it. Not least did we appreciate the small 'extras' - e.g. owners and staff taking time to explain in detail the history of the estate and the region, and helping us out with some parcels that were stuck with Customs. M.S.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host and staff were very accommodating, from booking to departure. They had also pampered me with a supply of sweets every evening. The location is excellent for business in the University. Eateries and shops, as well as, tourist attractions, are all within walking distance. Breakfast was very good- a big selection of goodies.
Cons: I couldn't ask for more.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There was an elaborate breakfast for a good start of your day; secure parking behind the guesthouse; friendly and helpful staff; a lot of effort was made to reduce excessive water wastage.
Cons: There was nothing that really bothered us during our stay. If we had to say something, it was something about the persistent drought period affecting the Western Cape. To reduce excessive water usage, you could not run a bath. Furthermore, a large bucket was placed in the shower to capture "grey water". This water would then be used for cleaning the room. This was only a minor inconvenience that we very well understood.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service and lovely to stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We appreciated checking in slightly early so we could leave our belongings and car safely whilst we walked into town. Lovely breakfasts, helpful and friendly staff. Attention to detail noted in our room e.g. Cotton buds, needle, razor, toiletries, tea/coffee making facilities etc. Central location and easy short walk to bars and restaurants. Beautiful garden area with pool towels provided which was also peaceful. A very enjoyable stay overall.
Cons: Bathroom very compact and bath unable to be used due to water shortage ( which we understand)

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love the location, quality service, style and comfort and of course- The Wine❣
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed in the Avalon suite - an upgrade which was a fantastic surprise . The best hotel we stayed in in South Africa. Lovely to be able to explore the vineyard on foot and the wine tasting and staff were incredible . Don’t miss the fudge and chocolate shop !
Cons: The bistro was a little lacking in atmosphere in the evening ( main restaurant was closed ) but the food was fresh and well cooked . This was the only negative I can think of -and probably should have left this section blank because we had a totally fabulous stay !
6.8 Good
Cons: This was not our first visit. Compared to the other times, our pillows where worn out unfortunately. You also do not get anything in the bar fridge (not even to buy). The service at Sansibar for Dinner was very poor. The service for the include breakfast was even worse! Only two waiters for all the tables and our waiter was very rude with a big attitude. The manager gave a bottle of MCC to apologize but they must seriously attend to increase the service as this spoils the overall experience.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Asara is a pretty winery hotel and has beautiful vineyard views. It is not so close to city center or to the other big wineries. Room is big enough, with all the supplies you may want - small fridge, hairdryer, iron, robe, nice towels and sheets. Bed is huge and comfortable. Outside the rooms, there is a bar and a restaurant, beyond a fine chocolate store. It is very pleasant to walk around the lake. Staff is very kind and polite, mainly the guys who take our luggage here and there.
Cons: They charge you in R100 for each one of the bathroom items - it is VERY uncomfortable and not polite at all to a 5 star hotel to do this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The setting
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Gin bar was amazing! The restaurant/bar staff were great. The wine tasting was really informative. Fudge from the shop (and delivered and turn down) was super tasty.
Cons: Staff could have been slightly more helpful with eating recommendations as the person we dealt with didn’t really know anywhere to recommend. We ordered our own Uber which wasn’t a problem but would have been an extra service if the hotel had offered to book a taxi on our behalf.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely stay at Asara, the accomodation was excellent and of high quality.
Cons: Compared to the rest of our accomodation across South Africa, it was a little pricy.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was good great breakfast. Nice big rooms and comfortable bed.
Cons: Tv was a bit small.
7.5 Good
Pros: Wine and venue beautiful
Cons: Getting taken to the wrong room first.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great wine. Views! Food!
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The location; The room decoration, facilities and size. Staff always ready to help.
Cons: Our room (number 2??) was in the 1st level of a building far away from the reception, restaurant and hotel entrance. To reach it you have to climb a very steep staircase with very high steps. For someone over 70 this is a big inconvenience. In fact, it seems this no place for people with walking difficulties. Lots of stairs are the rule. It must be said that the staff are always ready to help. But even so...

8.8 Excellent
Pros: lovely decor. Excellent location. Great breakfast.
Cons: Parking was not easy. Would prefer a duvet on the bed rather than sheet and blanket. Only 1 coffee pod in the room per day - not enough for 2 guests.

Pros: Everything was amazing!!
Cons: Early check out at 11am, but was allowed to stay until 12.30pm
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Simply exceptional. Hotels like this are rare and hard to find. From beginning to end it was amazing. The view, the food, the wine and the team 10 / 10. You will not be disappointed
Cons: Nothing except having to leave.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The wine estate is beautiful and the lodge was very comfortable.
Cons: The food at Indochine was below expectation. The personal swimming pool was heated but the water could have been slightly warmer.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The setting is magnificent and the accommodation very good. There is good South African art in the buildings.
Cons: The restaurant Graff is overpriced. The food was merely good. The setting on the verandah was, however, very special. I did not like the glitzy diamond and clothing store. I felt it was just too enterprising/commercial and ruined the venue.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Seriously luxurious place and wonderful staff, good restaurants etc. etc.
Cons: It's good to know that some of the rooms with a view also have a main road a the bottom of the hill with traffic noise.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really liked the 3 small trails on the estate, nice touch. The Spa is really great
Cons: Things you cannot control for such as changing rooms due to a toilet malfunction..... when canapés are promised in the evening and don't materialise, not a big issue. Also, 2k and 3k dumpbells missing in the gym, annoying
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms, decor and attention to detail. A perfect view towards Cape Town. The food at Indochine is remarkable and breakfast and true feast. Definitely a 5* cappuccino. The ladies at the SPA are gems and the treatments were very good.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location and great staff with attention to detail.
Cons: Disappointing that they have built a large number of new lodges especially as they now block some of the amazon by views that made the place so special
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The position was superb, the staff delightful and the hotel a delight to stay at.
Cons: The indochine Restaurant had a limited menu which was a shame. On evening we had room service which was cold but we still had a lovely stay

Pros: everythink including breakfast was very good, very friendly personal
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Awesome staff, room and area
Cons: Small issue Church clock kept me awake on the hour when it chimed.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The area of De Hoek Manor is probably among the best, if not the best, in central Stellenbosch. The breakfast and especially the breakfast room and decoration was top notch. I particularly liked the omelettes that I got every morning! Extra bonus was the two nice and charming old ladies that run the place.
Cons: My room was on the backyard of the place and did not have too much sunlight / light there. This was not too much of a problem, but it was a pity not to be able to see the sun and any of the beautiful mountains that surround Stellenbosch.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: So enjoyed my stay at Baruch! Jean, the manager on duty was friendly and knew exactly of my dietary restrictions which totally surprised me. I always check in with the place I'm staying to see that there is something for me to eat at breakfast (I'm vegan) and normally, I'm just happy with fruit and bread. Jean ensured I had a milk alternative with my coffee and offered me a full plant-based fry-up for breakfast - it was delicious and such a wonderful treat! The room was wonderful and I made use of the divine Reading Room. Would love to come back soon!
Cons: Absolutely nothing.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a wonderful guest house. I've stayed in B&Bs all over the world - but this one was by far the most welcoming. It's ideally located and offered a warm and friendly atmosphere for our three night stay. The staff were extremely friendly and we were sorry to leave as they made us feel that we were leaving family behind. The breakfast each morning was worth every cent. Thank you for making our trip unforgettable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay! The rooms were comfortable and beautiful decorated. The location is excellent. Very close to the University, restaurants and shops. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast very good. It was my second time visiting (the previous time was for work, and this time with my family on vacation), but I will definitely visit again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly. Was warmly welcomed by Angelica who helped me with my bags and checking in. Check in was easy and starightforward. The breakfast was good and the two ladies who serviced the breakfast were very friendly and warm. The room was spacious and well decoated to a high standard. Perfect location right next to the University of Stellenbosch, and walking distance to the City.
Cons: Cant fault this property much as I enjoyed staying here. Only thing would be a wider provision/choice for breakfast.
7.0 Good
Pros: Space ND shower
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location, the family unit had some interesting history attached to it which made the stay special, breakfast was good, ample parking space, rooms had very efficient heating system, beds were comfy, linen was excellent, wish we stayed for few more days.
Cons: Random people park in front of the ONLY entry/exit gate, we had to waste some of our limited time waiting for the staff to find out the owner of a random car parked blocking our exit, wish they had a simple "no parking" sign there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What initially attracted me to Fynbos Villa guesthouse was the value for money as well as the location, which seemed quite central. As soon as you enter the property, the colonial history of the house becomes evident. I found the staff to be very helpful and easy to get along with, the kitchen staff were also kind and I was not made to feel like I was pestering them when I was ordering food.
Cons: I do feel like the hot breakfast was somewhat limited, perhaps beans or mushrooms to go with the eggs and bacon, however they also have delicious flapjacks as well as other 'cold' food options in addition to the hot breakfast so overall I would say that the breakfast is quite adequate, especially at the price I paid.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the friendly staff and how much they were willing to help us with any questions. We loved the rooms with wooden furniture and welcoming drink. Heaters in rooms were great and more than enough complimentary coffee and tea. Beds were so comfy and warm we did not want to get up! Breakfast had great selection and perfect ending to our short visit there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was fine. The receiption was good. The fact that we had a private doir to enter our room. The breakfsst was excellant
Cons: Out room had twk small problems. 1 the bathrokms lightswitch is upside down. 2 our showers taps are switched. The hot water has the cold water fap attached to it.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent, within walking distance of the town center and university. The staff were exceptionally helpful throughout my stay, and the breakfast was also very good.
Cons: My room was next to the front door of the property which was noisy with other guests entering and leaving. If you are a light sleeper I would recommended requesting a room away from the front door and road.

Pros: Quiet secure residential setting, 10 mins drive to Stellenbosch. Friendly helpful staff. Cosy lounge serving bar snacks. Generous selection of hot and cold options for breakfast. Impressive indoor heated pool area (not used). Complimentary wine & chocolate tasting at Waterford estate.
Cons: Room quite dark even with lighting. Bathroom window on walkway. Would suggest a wooden blind or shutter for extra privacy. Quirky décor throughout, restaurant OK for breakfast but didn't feel like a comfortable place we would want to spend time in for dinner.

Pros: It was pure luxury.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved breakfast, interior decoration, friendly staff
Cons: Other than breakfast, food was not to my taste: I don’t mean it wasn’t good, it just wasn’t the sort of food I like, plus it seemed overly expensive. On my last morning, breakfast was over an hour late. But I would stay there again and totally recommend the Majeka.
