When to visit Marmaris
Most people consider the period from May to September as the ideal time to visit Marmaris. Marmaris is very busy from July to August so choose early or late in the season for slightly cooler days and less crowded beaches.
How to Get to Marmaris
Plane
The closest international airport is at Dalaman. Take a shuttle bus from the airport to Marmaris for TL25.
Train
There are no trains to Marmaris at present. The closest railway station is at Aydin for those traveling from Izmir.
Car
Turkey has good roads and the 502 mile drive from Istanbul to Marmaris via the E881 toll road takes 8 to 9 hours.
Bus
If you're flying to Istanbul initially, you can travel on to Marmaris by bus for just TL75.

How to Get Around Marmaris
Public Transportation
The easiest way to get around is by dolmus. These 11-seater minibuses cover the city and the neighboring resort of Icmeler. It costs just TL1.50 for a single journey in Marmaris or TL2.50 from Marmaris to Icmeler.
Taxi
Taxi is considered an expensive option. Metered taxis charge TL4.00 to start plus TL3.50 for each additional 0.6 of a mile (kilometer).
Car
Rent a car locally or at Dalaman Airport and plan outings to Fethiye or Pamukkale. You'll be able to explore the turquoise coast region at your leisure for as little as TL115 per day.
