Pros:It was a comfortable ride.Cons:A LOT!!! I arrived at the Hertz location, located at 911 West Anderson Lane, Suite 125 Austin, TX US 78757, to pick up my reservation Monday, 11/30/2020. Upon arrival, I was informed that they did not have my requested size vehicle in stock and took a larger vehicle in its place. I agreed to go with a bigger vehicle, but I did not expect it to look like it had been in a fight with a bear! The Hertz agent informed me that it was the last SUV available and that he would be right back after "cleaning it up." I waited over an hour for a reservation booked the day before so that it can be cleaned??? Why was it not ready when I arrived? When the agent did finally pull up with the vehicle; it was not clean, the windows were smeared, the inside had clearly not been sanitized to prevent COVID-19, there are scratches all over it, a chip in the windshield, and the passenger side step rail looks like a bear took a bite out of it! When I asked to have it washed AGAIN, the agent stated that it would be another 30 minutes or more if I wanted that because he would have to drive down the road to another location to do that?!?!!? The agent then did a quick walk around and rushed back inside, and ignored my questions about the damage. I took the vehicle to a car wash and washed and disinfected it and took photos of the damage before my fiancé, which is a high risk for COVID-19, could even get into the car. Now I have rented many cars throughout my life, but I have never received one in such poor condition from a reputable company, ever!! I am VERY disappointed.Reviewed 10 Dec 2020

Pros:Everything except the following problem.Cons:The keyless entry code was not in file in the Enterprise office or anywhere with enterprise. We locked the keys in the car late at night in a questionable location and we're not able to get the code access to open the doors. We had perception of concern approaching the Young ladies with us and it was frustrating that nobody at enterprise seemed to have a code for us to be able to get into the car. Additionally it was not a good feature that the car would lock with the key in it. Most cars now will not let you lock the car if the key is still in it.Reviewed 8 Aug 2016

Cons:I'm a Hertz Gold member. Why did I have to waste my time at the counter, when I should be able to go directly to the car and get on my way? The (friendly) attendant at the counter told me that in order to bypass the counter, one must book directly through Hertz, and going through a 3rd party such as Kayak, Hotwire, etc. doesn't work. But I saved ten bucks going through Kayak. So to other customers out there I would just recommend you weigh the value of your time vs the savings. I was in a hurry, and even though there were no other people in line, the stop at the counter cost me a precious ten minutes. Thank you, kayak for sending this survey. Its 2019 and collecting your car, especially if you've done your due diligence to sign up to the rental car agency's program, should take ZERO time at all. Hope this helps.Reviewed 11 Nov 2019

Pros:Honestly it was the worse car rental experience that I’ve ever had so the only positive thing I can say would be the comfort of the car.Cons:Austin rental staff not friendly nor helpful. Refused to take a company credit card for one of the rentals but would except it for the other rental. I was forced to figure out a solution by renting one car on my credit card and paying an additional fee to have the other driver drive it. Felt like a complete scam to get more money out of us. Took almost 2 hours to complete the rental process and we had reservations. My cars windshield was so dirty and spotted on the inside that I had to stop and buy cleaner just so I could see. Due to our type of business we needed to drop the cars off in Dallas. The web site says there will be a $12.50 charge to do so but it actually changed the entire rental rate to almost double. We needed to extend our rental 2 extra days. I was able to complete this process on their web site for one vehicle but not the other. Said I had to call customer service which I did and they charged my an additional $10 for the call. I was n hold for 43 minutes before reaching a customer care person. The oddest part was he had to speak with the other driver to complete this even though my DL number and credit card was on the rental agreement! This is not at all what we have experienced in the past with Hertz or any other car rentals. Extremely painful process and not one we will be repeating in the future!Reviewed 25 Jan 2021

Unfortunately Had Better ExperiencesPros:It was a vehicle than ran great and was at least comfortable from getting us to point B from point A.Cons:Our plane was delayed and arrived to Austin, TX late. After a taxi-ride to the Hertz location the representative let us know that our reserved medium size car had been rented out and all he had left were Full-Sized and it would be an upcharge. We were hung out to dry, forced to pay an upcharge for a larger vehicle we didnt reserve. He offered a Hyuandai Sonota or Toyota Camry. We asked for the Camry and he proceeded to let us know that we couldnt actually take that one because the oil needed to be changed. Upon taking us out to the vehicle, it was not clean (I have pictures). Both the exterior and the interior had dirt and dust throughout. It also was not as new as advertised, and did not meet the level of Hertz Rentals I am accustomed to (they are a corporate partner of my business). Overall, we were forced into an upcharged, larger vehicle that was not to standard.Reviewed 3 Apr 2017

Car broke down on me + poor customer serviceCons:The car stopped working while I was at a stoplight at an intersection in Austin. I came to a red light and stepped on the brake. wheb the light turned green, I released my foot from the brake, and the car wouldn’t move. The dashboard displayed an indicator saying to “service transmission.” I called Hertz, and the customer service rep did not call a towing company until 20 minutes into our conversation. She told me that it was okay to abandon the car while the towing conpsbu was en route since the car was in the middle of a busy intersection, but she provided incorrect info to the towing company (telling them that the car had a flat tire), so they were unwilling to tow the car, and Hertz was unable to locate the car. Instead of a Hertz rep driving to Austin to provide a replacement car, I was forced to go to Austin airport to pick up the replacement car. But Hertz was not able to provide a replacement car since they couldn’t find the original car. So I was forced to use a different rental agency to get a new car. Overall this was an extremely disappointing experience having a car with less than 6000 miles break down on me and having a poor customer service response.Reviewed 16 Apr 2018

Booked at wrong location; forfeited moneyPros:Nothing, was not able to get the car that I paid for.Cons:Searched for rental at AUS - Austin's airport code but instead got a rental 30 minutes away from the airport. It would have cost me $50+ to get to and from the rental in a cab plus I had to get back to the airport at 6am so it would not have even been possible to return the car so far from the airport. Hertz was not helpful. They said they could not transfer the rental since I had booked through Kayak/carrentals.com even for an additional fee. I lost all of the money that I paid for this booking and had to pay for another rental car.Reviewed 15 Aug 2017

Pros:The car was very nice and clean. I enjoyed driving it.Cons:I was quoted one price. When at the pick up counter I was informed they would do a credit check. Everything was all good. Made my trip and went to return. I called a few times to talk about my drop off time. 1st time I was on hold for 45min before I hung up and tried again. Second time 30 min and 3rd time spoke to someone and was told that a later drop time would be fine and that it would be noted so I wouldn't be charged extra, I was then transferred and was again on hold for 45min before arriving at the drop off location. When I returned it I was told to just leave the keys in the car and I would receive my receipt. Sounds easy. Until I got my receipt for $100.00 more than what I was told. There were all kinds of extra charges on my bill. This was my 1st and last time renting from Hertz.Reviewed 7 Dec 2020

Worst ExperienceCons:I added the navigation system to my order as I am not from Texas and had several meetings to attend in various places. The afternoon of my first full day of the rental I'm going down the highway and it shuts down, never to be powered up again. So I'm on a highway in a state I don't know heading to an important meeting and now have no idea where I'm going. It was extremely frightening and I was 30 mins late to my meeting. I call Hertz and get the party line that they will refund my GPS fee but that is all they can do. Hello?! Of course you will refund me for something I wasn't able to use anyway!!! When I returned the car I asked to speak with a manager and was refused, a clerk let me know that Hertz had done all they can but it's a Gamin product so it's not their responsibility if something goes wrong. That response blows my mind, you sell me a products and get the money for doing so but if it malfunctions I'm on my own tough luck. Highly unprofessional and inexcusable.Reviewed 4 Jun 2017

Cons:I searched for a car on KAYAK for Austin airport. Somewhere between KAYAK and Hertz, I ended up with a car in a rental location 12 miles away, and the closing time at the location was the exact time (6pm) for which I made my reservation. The Hertz counter at the airport told me the reservation was for a different location and that the location was closed. I had to call Hertz on the phone for any further support. After 45 minutes and being disconnected twice, I finally managed to get a car that could be picked up at the airport but it still required returned to the original location. It was double the price of my original reservation. Returning to the airport would have been another $130.Reviewed 4 Aug 2018

Pros:Staff was really great, car was in good condition and rode smoothly. Was a lifesaver in Austin, TX.Cons:Location of pick up was way too far from the airport. I paid a $70 cab just to get there. I had a bit of a situation when they wouldn't take my debit card, but was able to override that because of the company I'm affiliated with (and I even got a discount)... not sure how that worked. If paying with debit, they will take out about double the amount of what you actually owe as collateral, but is returned at end of rental. I asked if I could return the car at the airport hertz and they allowed me to do this with a fee about the same as the cab ride.Reviewed 6 Mar 2017
