We originally booked a rental with Hertz, and had a nightmare. The vehicle broke down and it took 4 hours for Hertz to come pick up the vehicle and we were told there were no more available. We got online and booked with Alamo, which was more expensive but the transaction was a breeze, and pickup and delivery was fast and simple. The car was extra clean and ran like a dream.I wish we hadn't had to pay twice the rate of the other rental companies.

Clean carNo chance to review pre-existing damage with employee, I documented a paint chipped area myself, but when I returned the car they said I was lying. Now they want to make an insurance claim against me! Poor customer service, I will avoid Alamo/National from now on unless they admit their mistake.

Friendly staff at pick up. Staff saved me money. Drop off was as easy as I could imagine. Car was well maintained, clean, and came with nice features.Not much. Car could have come with iPhone adapter for CarPlay but that would’ve been above and beyond.

Pickup and drop off were easy as they could be. Signs entering the Austin airport could have been more helpful when returning the car. We had to u-turn twice to get to the right place. That's not the fault of the rental car agencies. The car was clean and we were given a thorough walk around before pulling off. It drove and behaved beautifully. We returned the car two days early and there were no questions and our final charge was adjusted accordingly.

Drop off in vegas was easy and staff was kind helpful.Pick up process in Austin was poor. Agent just said follow me. He walked around vehicle and then said i could go. He did not do a vehicle check with me meaning confirming there are no damages. Didnt tell me where keys were and did not ask if i had questions regarding vehicle functions. I had to go get him and ask where keys were. At that point the agent made me feel rushed and as if i was an inconvienence not a customer. I had to fingure out how to use lights, cruise control ect. I had never driven that car before so perhaps the agents should be mindful of that.

Stuff was friendly, processing was quickI made a reservation for Mitsubishi Mirage, but they made me take Chevy Spark. The Mirage has standard seating for 5 passengers; the Spark can only carry 4. The Mirage Hatchback has 3.2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Spark. I am not going to use Enterprise car rental next time.

The wait to pick up at the Austin airport was incredibly long. I think it ended up being 70 minutes. Other than that, everything was great.

Friendly staff. I flew in and out at a very early time. I night dropped the vehicle when returning. Have not received final receipt. Vehicle needed to be serviced. Chassis stability/ control issue. I left a note with the key that the vehicle had an issue.

I liked that the car was clean, and only had 36k miles on it. What could have been better was the maintenance and company pre-check. Cracked windshield, out of balance rear left tire, a taped together key fob that at one point failed until I worked on the electrical connection, and a “full tank of gas” that really wasn’t quite full.

Tried to alter the reservation pick up time several days before the pick up on 3/18. First I tried calling to speak to a Hertz representative and change the reservation that way, but there was a fee involved to talk to a live person so I downloaded their app. Every time I tried to finalize my adjustments on the app, it kept saying there was an error and couldn’t process my request. So when I got there, it was a hassle to pick up the vehicle and I incurred charges I wasn’t expecting because I couldn’t adjust things ahead of time. Will likely not rent with Hertz again in the future.

Very nice drop off staff. Check-in guy wanted me take economy car since it was intermediate sold out; he did not offer me a discount for smaller car. I asked for intermediate or larger; he gave me a larger car. He was very polite though.See above.

They tricked at the counter, the attendant never told me I was going to be charged for an upgrade. When I received my final bill by email, I realized they charged me $30 for an "upgrade" that was never delivered or discussed at the counter.AS BAD AS IT COULD BE! The car was in terrible condition, ketchup on the door panel, plus had a disgusting juice spill all around the cupholders. Employees maybe we're waiting for a customer to clean up the car. The car had mirror lever is broken, head console buttons (SOS) where jammed/broken.

I didn’t get the car or help from the staff. Still charged full amount.I scheduled a same day pick up via my phone And the city auto populated to the neighboring city. I didn’t realize this until I went to pick the car up - kiosk guy directed me to customer service line but no one answered x 5. Called again the next day and was told it was too late.

We ended up with a truck, albeit an impractical one, with decent features at a great price. Drop off experience was pleasant.Beware of their dealer’s / manager’s special. They’ll try and give you a diesel vehicle and lie at pickup to convince you to upgrade and/or tack on extras. Worst rental pickup experience I’ve ever had! Go with Fox if you need a low-budget rental.

Unfortunately I never got my rental. Arrived when I was suppose to pick up in Austin TX. They were having system problems. Waited in line for hours. Missed my appointment. Ended up having to stay the night in TX and reschedule for next day. Called to try and get refund or credit, nothing they can do. Very poor service. I get it isn’t their fault but there were 200+ people in the same boat. Many of us walked away. Forgoing our rentals. The cars never left, yet the company keeps our money. Does that seem right, I don’t think so regardless of a “non-cancellation reservation” or not. Will steer clear from them in future and recommend you do the same. Disappointing.

Had to use Payless when my normal car rental place was out of cars. It was fine, did not take very long at the desk or to get the car in the garage. Definitely would not hesitate to use them again if needed.

I pre booked and paid for my rental but when I arrived at the airport to pick up the car the Payless counter was closed. Customer were sent to the budget counter which was also closed and directions were given to go to the Avis counter. Therefore ALL Avis, Payless and Budget customers were waiting in the same extremely long line. I stood in the line for 45 minutes and 4 people were helped. If I would have waited in line I believe it would have taken me between 2-3 hours to get the rental car I had already paid for. I ended up having to rent a car on the spot through a different rental company as I was in town for a funeral and could not simply wait in line for hours. I do not know if everyone in line had pre-booked and pre-paid but if so I would recommend having an option for those customers not to have to wait in an excruciatingly long line. It remains to be seen if I am able to get a refund for the Payless rental I paid for because I did not actually ever get a rental car through them. Overall I would not rent through Payless again in the future.

Descent initial cost and car was nice. We found beer in our glove compartment on day 3 and I’m not happy that it was recommended at the counter to get the toll coverage and then we really didn’t need it. The cost of it was no where near what the tolls would have been. We knew nothing about tolls so we just relied on advice. The gal was great to work with. Very friendly and patient. We waited in line for close to an hour and she took time with each person and was cheerful.

I rented a Jeep Cherokee and paid for that class of vehicle due to size and 4 wheel drive capability needed. We arrived at the Austin Airport at 1:30, went to the payless counter, agent said I had an 'Open Rental"?? Not sure what that meant and took several minutes to get a manager to overide this error in the system. Finally got the voucher to pick up the vehicle and found us standing in another line (Express pick-up) for anothe hour in the garage to get our vehicle. Finally we went to get our vehicle and the agent there tried to give me a Jeep Compass ( a lower class vehicle, not sure it has 4 wheel drive??). We explained that we selected and paid for a Jeep Cherokee or similar vehicle and couldn't take the lower class Jeep Compass, he then said we'd have to go back and wait longer until he could fine another vehicle. We waited another 20-30 minutes, now 90 minutes just to pick up a rental vehicle!! This delay caused us to miss a lunch appointment with other family members (who flew in on the same flight and rented fro Hertz and got their vehicle in 15 minutes!!! What a shame this process is so slow that we can't enjoy our vacation due to the huge delay and difficulty trying to rent from you. I still have a $250.00 charge pending on my credit card today and didn't receive an email receipt??? Not a great customer experience and I hope this really gets looked at to help Payless improve their process and delight the customers so they will come back. When I arrived to pick up my car no one was there to help. The after hours number was disconnected. I ended up having to cancel my reservation and booking on the fly with Hertz who had people working at their counter.

Counter doesn’t open til 7 but our red eye flight arrived earlier so we had to wait. There was a sign that said to go to the Hertz counter instead. When Hertz finally opened the employee said to go back to the Dollar counter where there was already a separate line. All in all we waited 1.5 hrs to get a car. The lady at the Dollar was a lot nicer than the one at Hertz though. Car was fine. Check out and return was easy

The car smelled of marijuana no one checked the car before we took it to make sure that there is no issues when we were coming back from Laredo and being stopped at the area to check your papers and documents the dog went crazy they wanted to rip open the truck because They thought we had marijuana in it and it was not good at all we are very very disappointed we don’t smoke at all . the smell we thought would go out of the car after a little while it did not .the dogs went crazy and we had to explain to him that it was a rental and it smelled like this when we we picked it up and that we believe that only that we are older and good at speaking to people and our pleading with him not to rip the car and our Luggage that we were not held up in the car because if not we would’ve had been there for hours and missed our flight if they had done the search they request .it was very disappointing the cleanliness of that vehicle and very disappointing that when we mentioned to the boy that young man that there was some issues with the car and he said to just take photos this isn’t good enough these vehicles need to be checked before they go out the marijuana smell was awful and it wasn’t until after we got on the highway that we realized it that bad and we were already late for an appointment so we did not turn back This could have been much worst and if we would have been 25 instead of 65 those officers would have not been so kind Rhonda 905 269 7516

Fuel surcharges when I put gas in at the airport gas station. Somehow they calculated that I turned in the car with 0.7 less gallons that I left with. With the fuel surcharge and price per gallon, it was a $17 charge for less than a gallon of fuel. And how did they accurately measure that..

After waiting in line for an hour I go to the car. The gas tank is below 3/4, the car did not have a toll pass, which I had paid for and the car was a mess with medical trash from the previous occupants.

While the pickup process was lengthy (esp. considering I had done a majority of it online when placing the reservation), the car was great, very clean, worked well for getting me around on my stay, and was super easy to drop off again.

Arrived late , the thrifty pickup counter was deserted, no signage about what to do. There was no info online, the hotlines also had no one working the phones. We did research and realized hertz is the parent company, so we stood in a long hertz line, not knowing if they’d live us a car. There should be clear signage that after hours you need to go to the hertz counter!

Car was not cleaned prior to pick up even tho the sticker on the door said it was. Was given the run around when trying to ask for a manager was told to call the 800 number and still after sitting on hold for over 45 mins was told that the manager at the returns desk should have helped me not the phone line. On top of all that charged me extra for keys that were placed on the dash which was told to me by the man doing the return check in. Still trying to reach someone at the rental place but after a day later no response. Will not do business with them again ever.

Whenever I PICK UP a rental can - I go to the first gas station I can find and "Fill Up". I travelled less than 10 miles and paid nearly $20 to "top off the tank". I did the very same thing when I returned to the airport and "Topped off the tank" and yet was still charged $20 for fuel. It's not reasonable to have a customer pay for nearly $40 in fuel that was never used by that customer. I will accept that it might have been $10 worth - BUT $40 is EXECESSIVE!

We had a good, but not excellent, overall experience. There are always long lines at the Austin airport rental car counters; this time staff was quick to get unused workstations going to move folks through more quickly. The CSR who assisted me was friendly and knowledgeable. The car was fine and in the same class I had contracted for, which I appreciated, since Hertz had upgraded my car without my knowledge or consent in the past and charged for the unwanted upgrade. The car was advertised as capable of holding five passengers and three bags, which would've only been true if all were very small. Maybe four adults and carry-ons, but certainly not full size bags. Low tire indicator came on during the rental, so I added air to specs, but indicator never reset. Slow leak, perhaps? Return was easy, and I hope that there will be no follow up charges beyond my receipt.

Customer support was a nightmare. Our flight got canceled early in the morning so we needed to extend the rental car for a full day. We called dollar and the first person told us we can have the car throughout the day without a charge. We called again later and they told us it would be more than double the original price we paid. We called again and suddenly it was half as much. No one would give us a straight answer and we had no visibility into their pricing to make a good decision on what to do.

Everyone at the counter was incredibly accommodating. When I arrived they were slammed, and didn’t have many cars available, so they worked their magic and pulled a car from another service provider. I had no wait time. Everything was seamless. Drop off was a breeze. I’ll admit I don’t travel much, and when I do it’s often stressful... but Dollar made everything super easy.

Fox was definitely a lower value experience than the better know rental car companies. The vehicles are older and the location of the desk and the cars is the hardest to get to. The car was fine though. My only real issue was that they charged so much for the tolls around Austin, Texas and didn’t explain how much it would cost us in admin fees for each toll. Each tool, no matter how small came with a $30-40 admin fee, which ended up adding $100-150 to the bill.

Clean car, at least on the inside. Easy return once I figured out where to go.Almost all the signs around the airport and parking garage listed directions toward all of the other rental car companies but did not list EZ Rent-a-Car, and the few ones that did were wrong. No one was at the EZ check-in desk. Scratches on car. Huge upcharges. Old car with no modern conveniences.

Never rent with themTo pickup car it took 40 minutes in line. Then the car was dirty unclean and in poor condition. Wouldn’t recommend

Overall Good experience, some confusionThe vehicle itself was excellent! I was given a free upgrade from what I had requested (compact) to a small SUV.Check-in was quite slow and rather confusing. The desk for E-Z was unmanned, and the screen behind the counter kept changing, so I couldn't even find the counter until the name of the company finally appeared. Then, there was a sign with print that was FAR TOO SMALL telling which counter to go to for service. I was third in line, and it was over 20 minutes before I got waited on...

Any communication that no human being from Avis would be available at 2:30 am (due to Allegiant Airlines delays) would have been a big first step in customer service! But, in these useless, almost careless days of anyone giving a flip about anything and about anybody, it’s all very understandable.

Staff working airport service desk were very nice. But… Time: It took about an hour from time I arrived at counter to time I drove out of garage. Product: I didn’t get the car/category I had reserved. Garage Staff rushed me into a car from a different category, that wasn’t as comfortable as the car I had reserved. I had reserved a Toyota Camry (or equivalent) but ended up with a small Mitsubishi SUV (hard seats, loud road noise, low horsepower). Service; like I said, the counter staff were nice. The garage staff weren’t so much. They acted like they were doing me a favor by not charging me more for the car I ended up with, which clearly wasn’t the experience I was seeking. Cleanliness: The vehicle had a used mask hanging on the sun visor and some dirt in back floorboard. I know it’s tough for them right now, so I don’t like to complain. But this was not the car I wanted to drive around my 80 year old mother on a road trip.

There was chaos at pick up point, everyone waited 3 hrs in line to get car even after appointments due to short staff

Car wasn’t clean upon pick-up. But I can live with that. What made it such a bad and frightening experience was when I started my road trip the morning after picking up my car. It wasn’t until then when I got on the highway and learned that the car had a controlled speed limit that someone programmed with the Ford feature that I could not override. I wasn’t able to go fast along with the traffic and almost got hit by a truck. After trying to reset the controls, I took the car back. Tried to get a full refund for not being use the car for my trip and was denied.They could make sure their cars actually work properly and are safe.

drop off was easycost transperancy.. got ripped off.. becoz I was charged .40$ per mile on 300 mile trip. No indication of per mile at the time of rental. Giving out cheaper rental to beat search engine, but charging per mile. Felt really awful.

Long delay at checkout. Car selection at checkout was inappropriate. Car was very undersized for what I ordered. Drop off was easy as it usually is.I wanted a large car. Instead I got a ridiculously small mustang. Was in too much of a hurry to change it. Pay attention to what I ordered.

Associate took a break despite a long line forming leaving only one associate behind the counter with a very complicated customer service issue ongoing. Took over 30 minutes of standing “next in line”. Cost was very high compared to my original reservation with Thrifty.

Nice car but it left the lot low on washer fluid.It was a nice car. Staff was friendlyThe Washer fluid was low and so every 10 minutes a bell would chime signaling the fluid was low. Fluid levels should have been checked before the car was put out available to drive. It was extremely annoying to have that chime every 10 minutes. Had to walk a mile to get to the rental building and I am disabled. There should have been a golf cart or some way for people to get to the rental building besides walking. The signs where to return rental cars at the airport were horrible with the construction.

National in Austin went fairly well getting the vehicle. The representative went overboard in trying to get me to upgrade however and when I got to the garage, it didn't appear there were any slightly larger cars available. This left the impression I would have been in the exact same car.

The a/c did not work! And that in Austin, TX! The car had countless scratches, dents and a damaged bumper when I picked it up. Almost 70,000 miles, which is a lot for a rental car. Not exactly clean. The steering wheel was filthy. The service person at the Fox pickup station almost fell asleep as he tried to check the cars out. It took forever!

Make sure it’s not a sub-contractorClean, new car in great condition. Drop-off was quick and easy.The rental was not with Europcar as advertised. It was in fact with Advantage rent a car who, I guess, sub-let cars. Pick up was slow (why do I have to provide all my personal details when booking if none of these are forwarded to the rental company??). Also, when I called to try to extend the hire by a few hours, I was quoted a price equivalent of more than a day’s rental.
