Pros: The staff at reception and in the adjoining pub were friendly. The room was comfortable and clean with some great little touches such as a complementary small decanter of port. The bathroom had excellent fixtures. The bed was comfortable. The location is right downtown, just a short walk to the Cathedral, restaurants and shopping.
Cons: The hotel is on a charming narrow street, which can be a little challenging for a tourist driver to drive up to. By driving 100 yards through an intersection, however, you can solve this by going into one of two parking garages. I know that’s not much of a criticism, but I felt the need to put something in the criticism box.

Pros: The friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast was great, both in terms of quality and quantity.
Cons: The location was billed as downtown. it isn't…it is a good 20-25 minute walk. The public transit seemed infrequent. There are few restaurants nearby.

Pros: It was all beautifully decorated over the Christmas period. Staff were friendly and incredibly personable. Opposite central train station making for great access. If possible don't drive to Exeter as parking can be expensive. Instead train it in as the hotel is literally 100m from the station.
Cons: The car park is a weird one. Incredibly tight to manoeuvre around. Luckily it was quiet when we stayed it I can imagine if it was busier it could be a real frustration.

Pros: Right by train station. Wifi worked well in my room. Good value. Clean. Bed was fine. Bathroom small but worked fine. Sufficient towels etc provided. TV decent quality.
Cons: A bit loud when I was trying to get to sleep (not sure if inside or outside hotel) but quieted down. Temperature was ok in spring but room might get hot in summer (small window that does not open far).
