Finding the rental car location was about a half mile walk. I was told that there were no smaller cars as I requested, only mini SUV's and hatchback larger cars, neither of which I wanted as I am unfamiliar with driving on the English side of the road. The best they could do was to provide a small SUV which was a manual transmission and then sent me off to find it and drive it without any guidance on how the car operated. I walked back, rented an upgrade, after complaining the staff showed me how to use it and drop off was fine. I am so tired of the bait & switch tactics that I have filed a formal complaint and I will no longer, and I will advise all company employees to avoid Europcar. My advice: have the car someone reserved actually available. When you don't, offer an upgrade as a courtesy as they do in the U.S., and do not charge someone for it.Reviewed 18 Oct 2025

I had phoned Europcar the day before my trip to advise that I would be picking the car up 8 hours later than expected. When I arrived at the office at LHR they said they had no notice of this on their computers and that they only hold the car for 6 hours, so had given the car to someone else. They said they could resurrect my booking by paying more to add my wife as an extra driver, which seemed bizarre, but I did so. Then the car they thought they could give me wasn’t there, so then they found me another car… the whole process took way too long, almost an hour, when I was exhausted after a transatlantic flight. As usual with Europcar the sales assistant did not stop for 20mins trying to force me into taking extra insurance. Although I had already paid for the car for the full period confirming conditions I was told that I could not take the car unless I paid a small fortune in extra insurance. This went in for over 20 mins till I called the manager who just let me go as he was legally bound to do. This behavior is a form of extortion and is illegalReviewed 2 Sept 2024

Loved the experience with pick up and drop off. It was quick and stress free. The car was good but the rear right tire light came up after I left the site and I didn’t want to go back so I filled it. It must have had a slow leak as it came up numerous times again and I had to keep filling it for a pound each time. But no issues otherwise 💕Reviewed 12 Aug 2024

They didn’t have the car I had ordered and the ‘equivalents’ were not at the same level. They are all salespeople. You get off the plane exhausted and despite already having paid for a car they work irritatingly hard to get you to upgrade both the car and the insurance.
