Cons: They didnt check the car when they gave me at night and next day when i returned they told me there were some scratches on the other side of the car. I was shocked to hear as i didnt drive the car much and nothng happened as per my knowledge. They told me they might charge me for that. I am so confused how can they be so careless and i took full insurance and apart from they they told me i might be charged for that..
Never had such an awful experience.

Pros: the car itself was alright
Cons: The company lied to us at the counter saying that we had to take their insurance, that our private insurance wasn't valid.
We got it then just to discover later in the day that it wasn't true, we called and they affirmed all would be sorted when we brought the car back. not true again.
They denied everything then and as I can't prove anything what is left is a feeling of humiliation and a knowing that this company was not honest.

Tried to charge me 5x the quoted price at the desk
Pros: Nothing, didn't even use the rental after they tried to overcharge me.
Cons: My online quote was $60 and they tried to charge me $400+ when I got to the rental desk. Somehow the rental quote got messed up and put it at another location at a airport across town. They said they couldn't match that price due to "taxes". Your employees are liars... I found another rental for $55 at another company at the airport.
Pros: We got a great car for little money.
It was no problem to pay with debit card since I showed my return flight ticket.

Pros: I have know complaints concerning the customer service. The gentlemen was courteous, fast, and friendly.
Cons: This Alamo rental makes it very difficult to pick up a vehicle. We had to call because there is no where to park. All the signs around the building says no parking, tow away zone. As I called to ask where do we park to come in and sign the papers work. I was told to find and pay for airport parking and then ride the bus shuttle over. Definitely inconvenient and more expensive than it has to be.

Great rates! Return process at Iah ridiculous
Pros: Rental was great, it was difficult to refuel, would not take gas but dial read 1/2 full. Upon return each person from garage to terminal kept sending me to another person for a credit, then in the end , the last person in the chain could not do it, and manager was not there. Very poor customer service,

Pros: Rental was significantly More than advertised. I requested a rental at the airport but one downtown was book. With no way to get downtown I had to cancel and rebook. Which was more expensive. When I arrived at the airport the price went up again. A $200 5 day rental ended up being over $600.
Pros: Good car, quick in and out, clean car and facility
Cons: Had to pre-pay to get a price at HAI comparable to DFW which I guess is not Hertz fault but a week before I left the price dropped dramatically and I would not have been required to pre-pay.

Pros: The car was super clean, the lady who helped was extremely nice
Cons: No one informed us that they would be closed the day we needed to drop off the car which made me concerned about getting my deposit back. Plus I was charged yet again for another day even though it was dropped off the day it was suppose to be. Not my fault no communication was given about droppikng off on a day they were closed.

Cons: There was a speed limitation which was exactly matching the highway speed limit. The problem is that sometimes, when you need to overtake a car in highway, you are forced to go with higher speeds to do it in a short time-frame and to free the lane. That limitation was crating problems to handle situations like that and even creates crash situations. The limit may still be there but it should be much higher than the maximum speed (which is regularly matching the actual speed in highways).

Everything was fine
Pros: The car was new, clean, and nice. Pickup and drop off was quick and easy.
Cons: The upcharge for tolls was rather ridiculous. So you had a choice of waiting in a line of cars to pay $1.75 or breeze through the EZ Pass for $5 a shot. I am not sure what the cost would be if you had your own EZ pass, but it is probably less than $2. The lady at the desk also tried to push about 6-7 upgrades on me - "manager's specials" and such. Just let me get my car, thanks.

Cons: Over 40,000 miles, smelled like smoke, burns and stains on seats, driver door was hard to open due to bad repair or something, no wiper fluid and had to pull over because I couldn't see. Oh and the tank wasn't full.

Don't Order and Pay For a Specialty Car That Just
Cons: The representative will dismiss your reservation size and give you what's available. Moreover they will try to scare you into buying additional insurance, gas AND electronic toll pass in Houston. I got around fine without any pass. Be careful about looking at the total prior to signing because she added damage protection even though I refused it. Horrible experience and I will not rent from either Thrifty nor Dollar again (same company).

Pros: Good car, clean. No surprise here
Cons: The person at the pickup was terrible. Not helpful. We even had to call our son on the phone (we don't speak perfect english as we are French tourists) and the attendant would be extremely rude to him. At the end he charged us much more than expected and even refused to cancel options when we asked him. After a 11 hours flight and jet lag we were too tired to argue with him. Hope you will contact us and make things right.

Cons: I signed a contract for $47 and when I turned the car in I received a bill for $183. The bill reflected a completely different rate that I signed for, incorrect mileage and other charges I simply didn't understand.

BEWARE OF TOLLS CHARGES THAT THRIFTY WILL EXPLOIT
Cons: Just when you thought you had the exorbitant fuel charges figured out, Thrifty has come up with a new way to extract your money due to toll charges in the state of Texas. If you are new to Texas, like I was, you're unaware of the tolls. While at the counter before taking the car out on the highway, there representative provided no information, whatsoever, regarding these tolls. After having the car for the weekend, I apparently had$11.25 worth of tolls while driving around Houston. Thrifty charged $116.25 for the $11.25 worth of tolls. Yes, this is more than 1000% markup of the charges. After you call and complain, they will reduce it to $37, which is only 400% markup of the charges. Until Thrifty changes their business practice, I am going to avoid them.
Pros: Car was comfortable, clean and a newer model.
Cons: IAH airport Advantage rental center had only 1 agent working the morning of the Final Four. The line for cars was long and slow. The lone agent was outstanding, but by herself. All of the other rental companies had numerous agents. For a few dollars more, I would avoid the long, long wait.

Worst car rental
Cons: Don't get fooled by the lowest price.
When I arrived Houston (IAH) and shuttled to pick up the car, there was one lady (Barbara) serving at the check in counter and there were 4 guests in front of me. It was at about 3:30 pm on Tuesday and there were almost no customer at other rental offices.
It took at least 15 minutes for each customer, who all ended up unsatisfied.
Even if I booked it online, she tried to see additional items such as insurance, extra protection, etc. Her attitude was very aggressive and she kept cutting in and told what she wanted to say.
The car was dirty and had existing dents and scratches.

Pros: When I picked the car up there was no one to give the papers describing the condition of the car as I exited the rental area. Also no washer fluid in car. When I brought the car back there was no one to assist, there were two Advantage workers there,just hanging out apparently, who told me that the person who checked you in was "down there" in the office and would be back in a "little while". Like most people who return a car to rental agency at an airport I had a flight to catch and didn't have a "little while" to waste. Had to take the paper work down to the main office where the Advantage employees were busy renting cars to other people. The people at the main desk were very polite and helpful, the other employees, not so much.

Cons: I got a Hyundai Sonata at a great price. The car ran well and was in good condition on the outside. The car pick up at IAH is in a covered shed so the lighting is not ideal. Once you get the car out in the sunshine is when you see the true condition of the car. The inside was filthy. The upholstery was soiled, there was dirt and sticky spots on the consoles. I didn't even want to sit in the seat. This is the 2nd time I've rented from Advantage and most likely the last.

Bitter sweet experience.
Pros: No waiting line when picking up.
Nice clean efficient car.
Pros: It took a lot of planning and research to find the best dropoff and pickup locations for a decent price. During the Houston pickup, the person I worked with insisted that the reservation had me return it to the New Orleans airport. I tried to show him my reservation on my phone, but he wouldn't look at it. He instead just recited from his computer. He even went so far as to say the location I booked at (only days prior) had closed (not true) and that our drop-off location had reverted to the airport. He even called the number provided and said it was the airport location that picked up (it turns out it wasn't! -- at least not when the number was called again). When I was able to reference the location code and prove to him that it was a downtown location, he claimed it was a computer problem and that it changed on him while we were talking. Everything ended up OK in the sense that we had the correct pickup/dropoff and we had the correct car reserved, but a mistake on the part of the worker was followed up by indignation that he hadn't made a mistake, and then a cover-up lie and, finally, blame on the computer system. So it was quite an uncomfortable pick-up experience.

Pros: There was absolutely nothing to like about this rental experience
Cons: From the desk staff who made fun of every customer behind their back, to the clunker car that reeked of smoke, to the chaotic return that was over complicated, understaffed, took way too long, and left all the customers to their own devices, to the ridiculous wait to get shuttled to the terminal despite being on the airport property this was the worst car rental experience I've ever had. Oh, and their computer was down so they promised to email me my receipt that I need for reimbursement purposes, and which they haven't done after 24 hours.

Kayak Messed Up - I didn't notice
Pros: The outcome of this rental causes me to not like anything about the rental at all.
Cons: My wife flew into IAH and needed a one-way rental for one day. Apparently something with the search went wrong and included pickups at HOU as well. I didn't notice, my bad. She went to pickup the car at IAH and the Budget desk was pushy and rude with the upsells (which were all declined) but they never mentioned to my wife the actual reservation was for HOU and they ended up charging here almost three times the cost of the reservation I had made.
tl;dr I think Kayak messed up, then I messed up, then Budget's customer service and handling of the situation was atrocious and borderline deceptive trade practices.

Interior maintanence needs work.
Pros: Price and convenience were great.
Cons: The inside of the car was definitely not vacuumed or cleaned. :(. And the driver seat would not recline at all so I was sitting too upright. Very uncomfortable.
Pros: Offered a day rate for long term (2 week) rental period. This was favorable because I could return the car early and pay for the actual days used.
Cons: ..... however, when I returned the car, I was charged a weekly fee plus higher daily and hourly fees for the one day of the next week. Also, cleverly buried in the contract was a $5 per day roadside assistance fee which I declined. Overall difference in advertised to actual price was $100 higher on a 9 day rental. Also, need to stand in line at the counter for drop off at IAH.

Pros: Not much. Employees were friendly, but it's Houston.
Cons: Car was mediocre. Had a shimmy. Check-in was out of the 1970s w/ paper forms. Didn't have a car ready in the type I had reserved. Price was cheap until they added up all the insurance - doubled the price. Agent went to look for a car. Took 15 minutes with no communication. Nobody present at drop-off. Still don't have a receipt.
I will NEVER rent from Payless again. Terrible.

Pros: I liked the price that I got this car for and the car was comfortable
Cons: The car smelled like smoke which was very annoying at first, the maintenance light came on while we had it and it was impossible to get a hold of an agent at the office where we got the car from, returning the car wasn't as easy as just dropping it off, I had to go in the airport to get my final bill which was not convenient and I accidentally left my glasses in the car and was not able to get them back and it was again almost impossible to get a hold of anyone. In summary, bad customer service.

Overall good value
Pros: The car was reasonably priced and had a typical pickup experience.
Cons: Car was dirty inside and out. You could tell it had been run though a wash but was still dirty and windshield was dirty which caused visibility issues. Also, they didn't have anyone to check in the car outside when u pull up. Had to go all the way back inside just to drop off the key.
Pros: This vehicle had everything from GPS, driver and passenger power seats, LED running lights, and their fancy badge would light up on the ground from outside mirrors at night. Finally good gas mileage. If I had not been so impressed with this vehicle Avis would had received two or three stars.
Cons: I tried to confirm Ez-Tag with Avis twice before I arrived and both agents I spoke with I could not understand because their accents. The day I picked the vehicle up the agent was trying to upgrade me again. However, the most important thing I was concerned about was the EZ-tag and when I returned the car I was told a different story of how Avis charges for someone using this system. Bad policy.

Cons: I reserved an SUV car and when they didn't have any when I arrived, I had to argue with the lady to just give me a smaller car as I was not comfortable in a pick-up truck. She kept telling me it would cost more money to a regular sedan vehicle. I was adamant that I was uncomfortable in an SUV and eventually she gave me a sedan that had an oil change light on. When I walked to get the car, there were several SUV vehicles in the lot. I was quite disappointed with this experience.

Did not get the type of car I booked
Pros: I booked a full size car - which historically in Houston in a small SUV. I received a very nice Nissan Altima....which while very nice, was way too small for my trip.

The desk agent rushed me out and did not offer me any option to request a larger vehicle.
When I went to pick up the car I nearly got run over by an employee who then apologized and asked if I needed help. I said yes and she directed me to a man in a white shirt. He was on the phone and would not give me the time of day, so I gave up and took the Nissan Altima.
The music was turned ALL the way up in the car. Ugh.
Upon leaving the rental center, I mentioned to the gate agent that I did not feel like I got the car I paid for and she said the Nissan Altima was not a FULL SIZE car. But at that point it was too late to do anything about it.
It was a very disappointing experience.

Cons: The facility needs to be updated. It is old and cramped.
Cons: I decided to book through Kayak because you quoted a better rate than National. My plane was delayed by 2.5 hours and when I got to the airport, the kayak rate was more than triple what was on the reservation and I was told"Kayak does that some times if you are late!" I had booked a back up reservation with National and that one was not jacked up, so I went with that. Waste of time
