Pros: All the staff at the Peace Hotel excelled in making our stay for my daughters 21st Birthday a magical experience, with gifts and cake and a private tour of the hotel. We felt totally spoilt and indulged. Everyone went over the call of duty to make us feel special. The Customer service director Lily was quite exceptional in her support and help. The most enjoyable and welcoming stay of our trip.

Pros: My husband and I had a fantastic stay-cation at MO and were treated so well from the beginning to the end of our stay there. Pool and facilities in the fitness area were great and the Spa is amazing!! Breakfast was great and good restaurants available for you to dine! Very peaceful and tranquil even though it is located in the CBD. Thank you to Cloris, Davin, Samuel, Lawrence, Melissa, Bancy, Lily, Betty and everyone else that welcomed and treated us so well! We can’t wait to be back there and also try other MO hotels around the world now.

But the hotel were quick to fix that issue at no additional charge. Not only that but they upgraded my room, gave me a cake for my daughter's birthday, and they provided me with late checkout free of charge! The room I was given was amazing with absolutely breathtaking views of the bund and Pudong's financial district.

After Shanghai, I went to Guangzhou and looked for Mandarin Oriental there because of the service in Pudong was so great! They helped me and my friends with our things! November 1-2, the kind check-in lady officer is SO AWESOME! She was very patient and kind to me. She also suggested some of the hotel’s services I would need and would enjoy. She was also there when we checked-out! The hotel is near all the tourist spots! Everything was a 5 star experience! The concierge, calling for a taxi, the super clean rooms. My room was so clean and the smell was SO GOOD! The ambience of the room felt so relaxing! I didn’t get scared even I stayed alone. The Club Lounge people are all great! WOW! We stayed in a room with Club Lounge privileges, and the staff was beyond attentive: they greeted us by name, helped us with daily planning, and were committed to meeting our smallest needs (e.g., when I clearly had a cold, they offered me ginger tea, even though it was not on the menu, and they even surprised us with a lovely gift for my wife's birthday -- and that's just a small glimpse of all of the touches). The room was not huge, but it was beautiful, with stunning views and marvelous Art Deco design, and the housekeeping staff kept it pristine. The Club Lounge has excellent food and beautiful views of The Bund, all in a peaceful setting. Between breakfast, afternoon tea, and drinks in the evening, it more than paid for itself. We had a magnificent stay.

Fantastic infinity edge pool on the 41st floor with a hypnotizing view on the Oriental Pearl tower and all the other skyscrapers. And hight safety standards by the way. Not every hotel has it. Love it. Extremely friendly and helpful crew who supported us a lot with all our plans to discover the city for the first time and off the beaten tracks. Perfect location for exploring Shanghai with a subway station around the corner (direct line to the airport and to the bund) and some malls within 5 minutes walking where we found the most wonderful restaurants.

Cons: The water pressure of the shower was very weak and we had lunch at their Chinese restaurant located on the 2nd floor which was a nightmare! They took too long to bring our order to the table bye the time the noodle dish arrived we had to leave without eating our lunch. We asked 3 different waiters to hurry our order and all fell on deaf ears. The manager of the restaurant wasn’t even sorry that we didn’t have our meal which we paid 1360rmb for . Total disappointment for a 5 star hotel!

Pros: A superb and outstanding interior design! Not just luxury but real contemporary style. Fantastic infinity edge pool on the 41st floor with a hypnotizing view on the Oriental Pearl tower and all the other skyscrapers. And hight safety standards by the way. Not every hotel has it. Love it. Extremely friendly and helpful crew who supported us a lot with all our plans to discover the city for the first time and off the beaten tracks. Perfect location for exploring Shanghai with a subway station around the corner (direct line to the airport and to the bund) and some malls within 5 minutes walking where we found the most wonderful restaurants.

While I realize that I'm in a foreign country the overall level of English speaking (understanding) in public areas is below expectations for this class of international hotel.

Cons: I lost a keycard while there and was charged 10 USD (on top of a 600+ dollar invoice). They pointed to some small print justifying this and tried to maintain this was a realistic price based on the cost to replace the card. I have lost keycards around the world and around China where they are replaced at no cost. These are bog-standard customised credit card style keycards found everywhere and can be bought online (customised for the hotel) in the USA for 0.2 dollars. I would be surprised if they cost more than 0.1 dollars to buy in China. Tried to negotiate with a totally inflexible manager (as the desk staff cannot reverse this and seem embarrassed by the situation) but kept repeating his 2 points: it’s in the small print and anyway it really costs us this. Such a needless way to antagonise customers and get negative comments on an otherwise great hotel. I will certainly remember this hotel but for the wrong reasons...

Location of hotel was good. It's one block from a major pedestrian shopping mall and you can easily walk to the river or to the square. The hotel room we got was a king and was really nice. It had a huge room and the bathroom was really nice also.
Cons: The A/C in our room didn't work. We notified reception and they sent an engineer to fix it and it worked for 36 or so hours after that and then blew warm air again. The reception staff said all the rooms A/C are bad and there was no point in moving us to another room. She said it's because the A/C units are old and the outside air is too warm to cool.

Pros: When we arrived we had our room upgraded and the view of the city was fantastic. I also loved the pool with the city view. Especially at night. The location is perfect. The hotel is right outside a metro station and you are only 1 or 2 stops from some of the major tourist attractions. The staff however is the best part of staying here, they are very polite, friendly and helpful. Also very generous with what they give you. And they speak good English in the lobby. I’d definitely stay here again if I came back to China and would highly recommend others to stay here too.

Cons: It appears that more female staff are recently hired, which is great. More materials need to be provided to them to help them know what tourists generally ask about.
One thing I noticed about mainland Chinese is that that they do not give details but only a generalized answers. The more experienced staff are okay. But the newer staff should be told to be more specific because world travelers are not stupid. The details are what tourists want.
Also, give the young female staff encouragements rather than criticisms. And have the experienced staff, who seems to be mostly males, to give the female staff a chance to help tourists - so don't take over but assist on the side.

When we bluntly refused to accept the small room, and told that we would not stay in this property, they offer other better room, however still on lower floor . Also the location was OK. Seemed very safe at all hours. The restaurant and the food was good. I had dinner there and the quality of the service and the food were very good. I don't remember the name of the waiter, but his service was outstanding. One day I needed a Taxi and they arranged one very fast for me. Also the morning I was leaving, they gave me a map and great instructions to take the metro and then the train to get to the airport. The service was always polite and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Pros: Good options for occidental breakfast. The staff was ultra friendly and helpful. Location is great and safe to walk around. Very clean room!
Cons: The machines at the gym doesn't work properly. The rower monitors doesn't work at all. The bikes are missing the pedal straps. Would be nice if you get a spinning bike.

Pros: The hotel club room and associated club lounge were very good. Breakfast was very good, good food selection. Room and bed very comfortable. Central city location. Good nighttime views of the city.
Cons: The hotel was a long walk from the subway with a travel bag. Hotel wanted a deposit above the actual cost of the room for my total stay. So I paid the bill on the first day.

Pros: Staffs was very helpful. They were accepted to upgrade my room to the business type at 25 floor which was really nice and surprising.
Cons: The room was not as equipped as I was expecting.

Pros: The room setup was better than before, 2 beds (that I didn't need) with couch between them, good for small table work and eat.

Pros: The hotel is clean and well maintained. Surprised to find out that the service speaks english by default as a lot of international travelers stay at this hotel.

Cons: I could not get the internet to work on my lap top. Like all 5 star hotels the mini bar is expensive, but just go to Lawson across the street for a cheap drink.

Pros: The rooms facing the plaza are quite nice and have a good view. (The rooms facing the back don't have a view.)
Cons: The air-con in the room was not working and I had to request to be transferred to another room. The reception staff were not friendly during check-in but were kind to accomodate the room change request.

Pros: Hotel is clean, situated right next to the very busy shopping area. The hotel concierge (Robert) has an excellent knowledge and has been very helpful.
Cons: The only thing that I did not like was when we arrived, they gave us two rooms with single bed, instead of double bed.
