A stay to remember!

Central location surrounded by shopping malls, restaurants and subway stations. Rooms and lobby are very well designed and decorated. Fantastic view of the shopping street and the square park. Lots of spaces in the rooms and comfortable beds.

Central to everything in Shanghai, the maids were excellent, door staff were friendly and helpful and reception staff very professional. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

The staff welcomed you into the hotel from the entrance door in their traditional Chinese. The hotel lobby was decorated for the Spring Festival. The rooms were extremely comfortable and a good size. Maids were very polite.

The reception staff English was limited. But it didn’t put us off.

The room was very spacious. The bed was comfy and big even it’s the twin beds. The bathroom was also spacious and had a bath tub.

The rest is petfect - very large and luxury room (love the bathroom) - superb location, a minute from subway and Nanjing Road (food and shopping) - nice staff especially the concierge on our check out

Hotel is at a very convenient location just right next to Nanjing East Road mall. Check in & out is fast, room is spacious, clean and comfortable and it’s value for money, service is excellent. We will definitely stay there again

My favourite hotel in Shanghai. Very good value for money. - very clean and tidy hotel, large rooms, nice interiour - excellent cleanliness in the bathroom - comfortable large bed (king bed) - room is equipped with ironing equipment - 2 bottles of complimentary drinking water per day - 2 types of dressing gown (warm and thin type) - umbrella on the room - excellent service personal - excellent coffee at the breakfast

- juice at breakfast can be improved in taste (club floor) - variety at the breakfast is ok, but not sticking out (club floor) - entrance to the hotel is a bit awkward: main sliding door is out of order (as it was already in 2013!) so you have to take the side doors which are operated by nice service guys, but still a bit inconvenient if several people want to leave and enter the hotel at the same time

I needed a very big favour to store frozen product in their freezers. This is not a normal request but they were really good about helping me. My wife was also unwell during the stay and they helped her feel very comfortable. I couldn't be more grateful.

Location is excellent, next to East Nanjing Road, walking distance from shops and restaurants. Rooms are spacious, very clean and comfortable. And what is very important - it is not permitted to smoke in the whole hotel (there is a small smoking area outside the hotel). Price is rather high but it is worth to pay it.

Fantastic location & excellent facility with gift comfortable spacious room.

Small amenities needed to be requested, ie, limited shower gel, but we understood the efforts to achieve green lifestyle.

Good service provided! Nice location just next to the Nanjing Road Walkway! Really convenient to get to the must-go-places in Shanghai! It's a comfortable place to stay at.

Everything is great! except the size of the swimming is a little small for a five star hotel.

Beautiful and grand, directly across Nanjing pedestrian shopping street, near bund, eateries, convenience stores, has helpful staff. Bathroom has gold taps and a tub. Near mrt and the Hop on bus stop is right opposite the hotel entrance. Excellent hotel to stay in.

I like the location

I didn’t like that the staff doesn’t speak English so both tried very hard to guess what we were saying I want to have massage in the morning and they booked me a massage by phone at 8:00 am but it was closed because they open at 13:00 everyday

Coffee machine at the breakfast made some great and fresh coffee. Bed was comfortable and the toiletries were of high quality. Located in the heart of the tourist district, lots of places around to eat and shop. Easy connection with the metro.

Breakfast could have a bit more options for non-Chinese cuisine. It would help if they gave clear directions on the booking.com page of how to get there from the metro station, Nanjing east Rd station and then exit number.

We left things behind in the hotel room and they called us less than 8 hours later, meaning we could get them before leaving Shanghai. Really impressive. Also one of our party hurt themselves, and we rang and asked for ice (we didn’t tell the hotel staff it was for an injury though), and they rang our bell MINUTES later, I truly don’t know how they got to us on the 12th floor so fast. Great service. Truly a gorgeous hotel, less than 5 minutes from the metro, and 2 minutes from the main tourist/shopping road in Shanghai. I would stay here again, in fact, I wouldn’t consider anywhere else.

Just one thing! They only gave us one hotel key automatically, which meant that neither of us could leave without the other, to smoke, or use hotel facilities, ask for two keys if you think this may be relevant to you! I’m sure they will happily oblige as they were always so helpful with us.

There was no milk for coffee. Don't like filter coffee - instant easier.

The staff people were very accommodating. They were extremely responsive and went out of their way to be helpful. When I return to Shanghai, I will definitely stay are the Grand Central Hotel again. It was like being at home.

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean most of the time. Room service was also great! Very happy to be staying here the 2nd time

The room we slept in had slight rattling sounds in the ceiling. Not sure what was going on. It sounded like heavy footsteps of the people living above us.. but the staff said it was likely due to the air conditioning system. Not a serious issue. It was not persistent sound, it just comes and goes. We still managed to fall asleep soundly at night. But if they could fix on that it would have been perfect!

We booked the superior room and it was bigger than we expected. Clean also. We are going to come back here again soon because it feels really nice staying here

We upgraded on arrival to Club for the lounge, and really enjoyed that extra luxury. The staff there were very welcoming and attentive. I also loved the superb spa/pool/steam/sauna facilities. All staff very helpful. We also thoroughly enjoyed the crayfish buffet meal in the hotel restaurant on ground floor. Fantastic! Many thanks to all.

Concierge very helpful but I had some concerns about knowledge and willingness to explore options.
